# SnB offense defense specialteams Says:
November 11th, 2009 at 9:22 pm

Priesttj,

I am very serious too. This team is not as far along as I thought they were at the start of the season. Quite frankly, that falls on Coach Cable. How a team competes one week and completely disappears the next is beyond me. They should have run a boot camp this past summer…instead of a Club Med.

This team needed to be pushed and prodded with an almost ruthless focus on getting the fundamentals right. The fundamentals have killed us. O-Line miscues, QB not getting them lined up, route running, defensive assignments and on and on.

So right now, they have to focus on the basics. Nothing exotic or sophisticated (tell Tom Cable to dial down the playcalling too) and just get this team into some type of rhythm that can be sustained.

^^^^^^^^We have been saying the same crap for the past 8 weeks and Cable still hasn't learned. The only games he did a good job of play calling was the 1dt game vs the Dolts and Philly game.

SnB,

Only a team with real leaders would come out and play like you want. This team is lacking leaders in the 2 most important spots: Head coach and QB.

^^^^^^^^^^Yep....and who's fault is that? Guess who...Al DAVIS...

Also I've noticed more and more that the two QB's he is most compared to Matt Ryan and Flacco are struggling more and more because they are having to be more productive(their coaches are asking them to do more) Ryan especially has dropped off.

They are thowing a lot of picks and can't read defenses as well as was being made to believe. The NFL has caught up to them and the have a book on them and what they like to do. Now they have to take their game to the next level. Can they?...

If you watch that video 504, the first thing you notice is his confidence in the players around him and how free he's playing. He is sure of himself and those around him. The guy's around him are making plays. I remember the fisrt time I saw this kid I said whoever gets this kid in 3-4 years is going to win a lot of games and championships.

He also is about 15 lbs. lighter and more agile than he has demonstrated so far in his pro-career. I remember when we first drafted Russell even before we drafted him I said he had thebest skill-set of any QB I had seen since Elway. His ability to throw on the run was flawless. You see glimpses of that talent from time to time now it's just very intermittent.

If we can evr get his confidence up to that level again and his weight down a little we will have a dominant QB for a very long time. When I say that Russell was as good a QB in the SEC as the Mannings people look at me like I have two heads but it is true.

We haven't seen it at this level for a variety of reasons but that doesn't dictate the future only the past. Russell is now just turning 24 years old the age when most QB get drafted or are in their 1st year. He's just now starting to understand what it takes to be great at this level. Hopefully the beginning of the best part of his career. I think that's where all the optimism is coming from in these players they are seeing the work he's putting in paying off in practice at least that's what I'm hearing out of camp.

     So we'll see....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I just think,” LSU coach Les Miles said, “I’ve got the best quarterback in the country.”

Certainly he had the best on this night. The 6-foot-6, 257-pound Russell completed 21 of 34 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns. He also had his first rushing score of the season and set up another TD with a 31-yard pass.

This was after his last college game vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl. Didn't have to look too far.

As you can see the track record isn't very good, so far as the Raiders developing their own Quarterbacks.
