How many games have we been close to winning going into the last 10 minutes this year?

Where is our QB on the bench.

Yup that's how Dungy handled P.Manning.

That's not M.Harrison and R. Wayne running routes out there.
As Gradikoski found out.

Clang, Penalty, Clang, Penalty.

Pulling your starting QB when you are only 6 points down at home to KC?

When you are developing a QB and lets face it QB for the Raiders is a crisis management position.
If he does not play in these situations you are giving up on developing him.
That means the guy that goes in should win that game.
That way you can say I did it for the sake of the team.
When that guy does not do any better and you lose the game anyway you have blown the game and a good chance for your young QB to work through a winnable game.

Why would Cable leave JR in when the games are at blowout stage but pull him when we are in a good position to win?

Stupid Coach...who has never developed anything more than a Z-blocking Guard in his career.

You might as well let the booing knob in my section coach the team.

Some Raider fans are hoping for Al to pull a 180 and somehow find the next Ron Wolf and Tom Flores...I am hoping for 200 yds from our passing offense, not much you say eh? well during the Cable's tenure we've past the 200 marker just 4 times in 21 games.

There is plenty of blame to go around for the past seven seasons.

Bad luck: Gannon injury, Bad calls by the refs

Poor Coaching: Shell and Cable

Poor ownership: Horrible FA signings, inability to hire a decent coach, poor draft picks

Poor play: Underperformers too numerous to list

Bad publicity: The Kiffin, Cable, Moss, Sapp debacles

Al is the chef of this schit salad, so he is ultimately to blame and I can't wait for him to be out of the picture, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon.

So, you have to just hope they fix what they can...starting with the coach.

If Al can somehow hire a legit coaching staff (long shot I know) then maybe some of the players will start playing up to their potential and maybe some of the grime will be washed away from the franchise so that in the future, Oakland will become a place where players want to come again, not a place where players go to watch the death of their careers.

A lot of maybes, but that is about as positive I can be right now.

Al, first thing first...Cable should be fired within 10 seconds of the end of the season. And you can't "for cause" his azz otherwise you hurt your ability to hire a decent coaching staff to replace Cable and the clowns.

Hire a coach and empower him to run his team. The players will never respect a coach that they know has to suck your balls every time he wants to make a change to the lineup.

Richochet,

You and I know the obvious about Al Davis. But I have to imagine if you were coaching the team, things would be different. I just don't know how to day it any other way. Might I get fired? For winning? Or at least losing the right way? I think I'd take my chances with getting fired my way than Al's. Which is why I use Kiffin and Gruden as examples.

Moreso than I think Al is a puppet, I think Cable is doing what he THINKS (and he's probably right) Al wants to see. Why not start JLH and Chaz, and use DHB A LOT in the slot and on reverses? Those things would still make Al look good with DHB getting better opportunites against LBs, Ss, or Nickle corners. To just line the guy up and run him down the field is DUMB! Al talked up JLH and Schillens so I can't see him being mad at them still succeding.

You're probably right though. But I stand by the fact that Cable is clueless and has ZERO bahlls!

I have to be a pretty special guy to be professional athlete and STILL be overweight.

How is that possible?

Most of us try and get a good hour a day of some physical exercise and tend to stay in some sort of presentable shape.

I could just imagine myself getting going through the workouts these guys do everyday. I think I could say with some confidence that I would at least not be fat.

Russell, Sands, Cornbread, Big Baby Davis, and all these guys.

How the heck is it possible?

I just don’t see how this is Al Davis’ fault.

Sorry!

Using Gruden and Kiffin as examples, Cable doesn’t have a plan! Cable’s “so called” plan is to try and impress Al Davis.

Davis is sitting in the skybox drooling, man! Davis doesn’t come down to the practice field anymore! Cable has the keys to this, and is BLOWING IT!

It’s CABLE who decided to change the playbook. It’s Cable who chooses the starting lineups each week. He can bench Huff and McFadden, but not Russell and DHB? All of them were top 10 picks by Al Davis!

Anf like I said, if Cable is WEAK enough to be scared of justifying HIS playcalling or personell moves to AL Davis on Monday morning, then he has NO bahlls, and is NOT the leader of this team.

A 2nd year QB should be the leader of the team? Sorry, IMO, it should be the HC!
============================
Not Al's fault?
How so?

Not COMPLETELY Al's fault..sure..but he's got his hand in the cookie jar, and controls who gets what cookie, right?

If what numerous prior players report is true, Al's only decrease in involvement is his notorious golf cart trips out to the middle of the field to give an impromptu coaching lesson.

Why do you believe he has say over anyone being benched?

All I see is someone who waffles on decision making, waiting for someone to tell him exactly what "his" decision will be.

Cable is the master puppet, but even drooling in his box, Al is still the puppeteer.

Honestly, Cable comes across as being just slightly more intelligent than Pinocchio..all apologies to Pinoc..
