Alston to IR; Norris promoted
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, November 26th, 2009 at 12:28 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Linebacker Jon Alston was placed on injured reserve after missing last week’s game with residual symptoms from a concussion, with rookie fourth-round pick Slade Norris taking his place on the roster.
Norris is inactive for today’s game against Dallas, as is David Nixon, the linebacker who was promoted from the practice squad last week. Both are sitting because Isaiah Ekejuiba, who did not practice because of an ankle injury during the week is active and will play.
Also inactive are linemen Erik Pears and Khalif Barnes and wide receivers Javon Walker, Nick Miller and Todd Watkins. Charlie Frye is the third quarterback.
In another transaction, John Bowie, the fourth-round draft pick from the Randy Moss deal, was waived off injured reserve and is free to sign with another team.

Say, did you guys know that Gradkowski is better than Montana, Unitas, and Marino, based on high school stats? I find that incredibly awesome!
November 26th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
good news slade norris
November 26th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Mr.
You dont get the point I was making. Here’s the point I was making. He had great numbers in highschool (such as having better stats than Jonny U, Marino, and other greats from his area). Great numbers in college (such as 28td vs 4int). That means he knows and understand football IQ, which is a whole lot more than the guy you worship JR. JR had 1 good season in college and has never shown to display any football IQ. other than your excuses of playcalling. Wow, didnt they do the same playcalling against SD? Did we win?
Being this is Thanksgiving,I will refrain from being so negative on you. Eat your buffet bro.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Good luck Raiders!!!
November 26th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
Heck yeh he has a football IQ! He’s better than Marino, Unitas, and Montana*!
*(based on high school stats)
November 26th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
And you never answered my question, AIG. What were Russell’s high school stats? You dug up Montana’s, Unitas’s, Marino’s, and even some guy named Mark Gradkowski’s. Surely you can find Russells stats and compare and contrast. As long as we’re talking high school stats… yes…high school stats. LOL
November 26th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
well we dont have john bowie 2 kick around anymore.yep dump all garbage remnents start clean…start new…its never2late
November 26th, 2009 at 12:46 pm
I’ll bet you Russell’s high school stats trump all of them! LOL. So, according to your standard of high school stats having any kind of relevance in the NFL, Russell should be starting if his HS stats are better than Gradkowski’s, right? I mean, Gradkowski is btter than Montana, Unitas, and Marino….in high school. You are a stat wiz for finding that out.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Mark my words, Trevor Scott will start at Weakside Linebacker
November 26th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Mr.
You can whine all you want. You can twist anything you want. You cannot hide the fact that he did have better numbers than those guys in highschool. I NEVER SAID HE WAS BETTER THAN THEM in college or as a pro. But then again, beign that you are you. Have a ball with it bro. We know you love to be the whipping boy on here. All you can eat man. All you can eat.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Gradkowski has better pop warner stats than Peyton Manning. Look out, NFL!
November 26th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
AIG, I’m not making fun of you! I agree with you. I am hyped about this revelation of yours, that Gradkowski is in fact a better QB than Marino, Unitas, and Montana*. This is awesome.
*based on high school stats
November 26th, 2009 at 12:49 pm
Why would I want to look up JR’s stat? You love him. You do it. All you can eat man.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
Why is slade inactive and Nixon inactive? That means Sam Williams is SLB today? wow.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
I wonder how much preparation the Cowboys have needed the past few days to get their defense ready for a QB who’s better than Marino, Unitas, and Montana*? Probably a lot.
*based on high school stats
November 26th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
AIG, you already looked up Unitas’s high school stats, Montana’s high school stats, Marino’s high school stats, and even a guy who will be out of the league in a year, Gradkowski’s high school stats. And you haven’t the time to look up Russells? I just want to know what they are. I mean, if Gradkowski having good HS stats proves that he has an NFL IQ (according to your standard), then if Russell’s HS stats are better, wouldn’t that mean that Russell has a better NFL IQ than Gradkowski? We’re going with your standard here.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
mr.
I know it pains you that we won last week with Grad at the QB. I know it hurts bro.
Odds of us winning again is low. BUT we may just get lucky again and I’ll apologize ahead of time if we do win again…not.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
For a family of five to go to cowboys stadium
$50 gas (4 hour drive)
$150 hotel
$60-75 parking
$50 standing room only tickets, or
$250 nosebleed section tickets
$200 in food
equals $725 for standing room or
$1825 for seats
that is why I am watching from home today
November 26th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
Mr.
Does it pain you to see JR riding the pine?
November 26th, 2009 at 12:55 pm
T Scott = starting linebacker
November 26th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
TEx,
that is rediculous amount of money for 1 game. wow. I have always thought fb is better watched at home with friends or at a bar. Things happen too fast at the game.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:57 pm
New,
do you have inside scoop?
November 26th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
AIG, I’m perfectly happy with JR riding the pine, especially now that I know we have a QB better than Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and Dan Marino!* You have no idea how confident that makes me as a fan!
*based on high school stats. See AIG’s scientific study from a couple of threads ago.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Let’s go Raiders! Bring it home
November 26th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Jerry Jones is taking those dumb Texans to the cleaners. No doubt. If they’re willing to spend it.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
I’m sorry I’m having some serious issues with our guy Cable, for the last mnth he’s been harping on the fact that we’ll soon get fully healthy and that will help us tremendously.
Well I’m listening to this guy right now on the pre-game show and he totally contradicted himself. He says that Grads had the same players Russell had and the same scheme and got different results.
Now I’m not in any way defending Russell that is not my point here. It’s Tom Cable’s double talk. He has said many times he can’;t wait to get this team healthy with Gallery Green and Chaz on offense that it would make all the difference in the world . Now he’s saying just the opposite. That it made NO difference. Which is it??
Either they did or they didn’t. Having Chaz in this offense made a huge difference…….period The additions on the line made a huge difference clearly.
Having DMC and Fargas healthy has made a differnce. But NOW he wants to make a case for Grads so he says they both had the SAME players and come away with different results.
We all have our opinions about Russell, no problem but the coach needs to stop this crap. Chaz Schilens is so far above those two rookies it’s ridiculous. And Having Gallery back is HUGE as well as Green remarkably. I said it all season that Russell’s struggling were enhanced by way of the two rookies. Hey-Bey cst us the KC game with those drops. If that’s Chaz we win and I know Grads was the QB. But my pint is the same.
Those players make a huge difference, Chaz Schilens is a huge target for any QB and he goes up and attacks the ball instead of wait for it to be picked off.
Cable is full of it………..period

agreed Midwest.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
wow Fargas is running them over big time.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
Cable looks cool in that Raiders’ jacket. It’s a nice fit. Gives him enough arm room to hit women about 2 feet shorter than him. I’m sure he had it tailored with that in mind.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:34 pm
AIG, way better than Russell so far huh?? you must be NUTS!!
November 26th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
how many 3 and outs priest so far? even with all that pressure.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
Midwest, They’ve been doing that all year long.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
priest happy thanks giving to you too….i’m thankful we’re not playing JR today.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
priest, not only is Mike Gradkowski better than Russell, he’s better than Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, and Dan Marino…based on high school stats. AIG dug that up and presented us with the facts a couple of threads ago. I have nothing bad to say about Mike Gradkowski, now.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Don’t gorget we’re watching the great Gradkowski, the next Gannon.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
*forget
November 26th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
compared to Gannon he’s not great….compared to JR, GRad is DA MAN!!!!!
November 26th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
This defense looks like last weeks defense they just got started earlier.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Oh, I haven’t forgotten, priest. I mean, I genuinely see someone better than Montana, Unitas, and Marino.* Mike Gradkowski could take us to the SB this year.
*based on high school stats.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
We need 2 score now, run with fargas
November 26th, 2009 at 1:39 pm

November 26th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Anyone? High school stats? Mike gradkowski?
November 26th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Wow, NewRaiderFan,
You did have the new inside scoop. Howard was benched today and Scott started per greg papa.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
He dinks and dunks extremely well doesn’t he?
November 26th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Hey priest,
Grad has 7.5 more games to throw 1 more td to better JR. I mean he already tied him after 1 game. I can sleep well with that.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
I’m taking my JR jersey back to the Raider Imagine, having “Russell” replaced with “Gradkowski”, and putting that sucker on ebay. He’s got better high school stats than Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and Dan Marino! I could quit my job.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Gradkowski looked a lot like Unitas on that pass, AIG.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
hey nation hows it going lets and real madden raider why are you in here you are not a real raider fan
November 26th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
What are Mike Gradkowski’s stats today?
November 26th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
WOW, that was a great passs if Schilens didn’t stop the int, we’d be down 7 to zip!!
The great Gradkowski!! LIVES!!
November 26th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Raiderlifer24, have your mom retype that so I can understand it.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
preist, I think Gradkowski did look like Marino on that pass.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
yeah i know at least he threw in front of him and allowed Chaz to fight for it. I mean he could have thrown it at his feet (Meyers) or behind him (watkins)
November 26th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Why aren’t we running more? 3-4 n we going for a pass when we averaging more than 5 in the ground wow. No prb, defense stop Tony homo

November 26th, 2009 at 1:48 pm
Gradkowski really did look like a combination of Marino, Unitas, and Montana on that 3rd down pass.

Damn why we give up big runs
November 26th, 2009 at 1:48 pm

November 26th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Listen , I will cease and desist from my criticism of Grads because i want to win this game in the worst way but I just wanted to make a point about a coach who threw someone under the bus to save face. It aint coool………………period
November 26th, 2009 at 1:52 pm
That was a great openfield tackle by scott.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Be back time 4 another kool aid
November 26th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
I agree to some extent priest. Although, one of your above points about players being available. Russell did have gallery and green the 1st few games. Schillens is the one exception.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
I, by the way, will not cease and desist from making fun of Joe Gradkowski.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
priesttj,
JR had no business starting for us this year. You know it. The world knows it. The only reason is cuz of Al Davis. If it was Bill Parcells, JR would have been referred to as Mrs. Russell…AND YOU KNOW IT.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
T Scott is being used very wisely in several fronts. at DE/SLB it’s an excellent scheme and gameplan. It has Romo confused as well as their line.
November 26th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
does jamarcus look smaller to you when they showed him on the sideline he looked like he lost some weight
