Halftime: Cowboys 17, Raiders 0
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, November 26th, 2009 at 2:48 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Scoring
Dal_Felix Jones 46-yard run (Nick Folk kicks PAT), 10:48
Dal_Miles Austin 9-yard pass from Tony Romo (Folk kicks PAT), :31
Notes:
Bruce Gradkowski to Louis Murphy gets 18 yards to the 48 with four seconds left in the half _ 18-yard gain is Raiders biggest in the passing game. Gradkowski sacked, fumbles by DeMarcus Ware, half is mercifully over.
– Cowboys lose what looked like potential touchdown when Miles Austin’s leg ruled down. Austin scores anyway _ Cowboys go 80 yards in six plays in 3:57 to go up 17-0 at halftime.
Dallas has gained 271 of its 310 yards on seven plays. They’ve run 28 plays in all. Gained 29 yards on other 21 snaps.
– Gradkowski hit while throwing on third down. Raiders 1-for-7 on third downs, Lechler punts into end zone on three-and-out. Cowboys at own 20 with 4:28 left in half. With Raiders run stuffed late two series, it looks bleak if Cowboys score.
– Swing right, Marion Barber uncovered, Romo hits him for 42 yards. That’s 232 yards on five snaps for Cowboys to the 30-yard line. Raiders eventually force field goal attempt on Trevor Scott sack (flushed out Tommy Kelly).
Folk hits right upright. No good.
– Gradkowski converts first Raiders first down on third-and-8 with 8-yard run, moments after Cornell Green goes down, replaced by Langston Walker. Second-and-8, Gradkowski has Heyward-Bey wide open on crossing pattern, throw a bit too far, DHB doesn’t dive, stretch out.
On next third-and-8, Anthony Spencer gets first sack of year for Cowboys. Got past Green, back in the game. Raiders punt.
– Gary Russell stops when he sees a wall, Raiders open at 17, Cowboys jazzed now, Fargas gets 2 yards.
– Scott and Branch collide on near-pick, Chris Johnson breakup. If Scott doesn’t collide with Branch, it’s a touchdown for Branch. Third-and-10 play, Romo to Austin, Huff tackle. Play is for 11, first down. Austin spun out of Scott tackle, just barely.
The conversion hurts, because Cowboys score on Jones’ 46-yard run, one play after a 27-yard Romo to Austin hookup. Big plays killing Raiders.
– Raiders fail on fourth third-down, Gradkowski to Murphy incomplete sideline. Will punt again. Scott covers punt at 11-yard line. Lechler’s punt _ 66 yards.

November 26th, 2009 at 2:51 pm

you shut down Miles Austin and you shut down the cowgirls. Go look up the stats. Whenever Miles is not having a big day, the girls cant score. It’s up to the Raiders to stop Miles.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Gradkowski’s first-half numbers are positively Russellesque.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
HOW MANY BIG PLAYS CAN THIS TEAM GIVE UP!
This team has had ONE impressive win all year, and I think that it is time to say – start over again.
How many times is Morrison going to overrun a running play?
Did you see the NFL average for WR’s just before halftime? Our stats are more than embarassing!
Enough already. I’m doing something else tonight. Raiders are turkeys…
November 26th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Did Boomer Esiason have a facelift or something? He almost looks Chinese or something…
November 26th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
16,
go ahead and call me nostradamis.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
That will only happen when we get a competent GM.
Until then, we will keep making mistakes that armchair quarterbacks wouldn’t make.
Sorta like taking dhb over crabtree. Stevie Wonder could have seen that crabtree was worlds better than dhb.
Yet Al wants to show that he is still relevant and goes against what everyone else knows. Unfortunately, everyone else is usually right.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
u guys got what u wanted and now u see. grads wasnt that good against the bengals. dude was 17-34 with only 1 or 2 drops. 4 receptions by the wrs. u better off developing your future with every1 healthy to see how he responds. jr is partially responsible for his benching but the rest thats happening is what weve seen all season.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
“And we look forward to The Who featuring Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend…”
Because those are the only two guys in the original Who that are even STILL ALIVE.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
This is the way they looked last week but the defense had the Raider Nation behind them and they played well. Right now the way this QB looks is deflating them.
But at least he’s “punctual” and a fiery guy. Can’t play worth a damn, but who cares.
November 26th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Armond,
Grad hasnt got it done today but please stop with JR for once. If anything we’re better off going with Frye before going back to JR.
sincerely,
ABR – Anybody but Russell
November 26th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
im the punk but you call al davis god the guy who cant run a good football team to save his life and you say i love jr but he cant get it done you love al davis and he hasnt got anything done in forever
November 26th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Lets get real, neither Russell or Grad is the answer. We need to draft a new qb this year. There are a ton of good ones coming out.
We need to do it this year, because the following year we will not have a pick due to the Seymour trade.
Also, we need to go ahead and trade our 2nd rounder for Boldin.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
it aint over
November 26th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
It was just announced that Daughtry and the Who are going to play the Raiders in lieu of the cowboys in the second half.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:03 pm
I know we can beat those guy’s!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
16,
here is life101 for you. First, I’m an atheist aka people who dont believe in religion.
Al is God because of the nubmer of people like Mrs. who swear they hate Al but yet follows his team week after week. I accepted Al as a scumbag years ago and laugh at those people who swears at him but loyal to his product. You dig?
When you grow up and hopefully you get a good edcuation and job you will realize that nobody gets away with what Al gets away with in the corp world. That is why I compare him to God. He aint my god but he sure as hell is to those people to Mrs. They just dont realize it.
sincerely,
AlisGod.

Russell can be developed he’s just very young as I’ve been saying, Grads can’t carry his jock. He’s small with a weak arm. The anti-Russell, no potential.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
aig fukk all that. people wennt on and on all week with this grads vs russell crap. i dont even chime in on it cuz i want to win. i havent given up on russ cuz its stupid to f off 60 mil with his ability. u guys have to hear it just like the russell supporters had to. deal with it and hope it gets better.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Now, can the great Gradkowski bring us back or are dead?
November 26th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
No it aint! Let’s keep hoping guys!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
it was so funny to see people hype grads when u could see hiw obvious flwas in the preseason. underthrowing wide open wrs with no pressure on simple out routes. running up in the pocket for no reason and damn near throwin his arm out to get it 40 yards downfield. he also has had several dropped ints too.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
armond,
I want JR to be successful. When I hear that JR is putting in the effort and workign at his craft, then by all means start him and we will live iwth it. When he doesnt put in the efforts to work at his craft, show up overweight, then I could careless if he is benched.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Hopefully the team sucks it up. Moves forward. Its time to lock it down. D is playing confused, Ugh. LETS GO D! CMON O! WE NEED POINTS!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Not sure Russell can be developed. He doesn’t seem smart or motivated.
He fleeced Al Davis for millions. Watch any highlight package he has from LSU.
Almost all the big plays had Early Doucet or Dwayne Bowe coming back to the ball. Usually a poorly thrown one.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Gforce21,
the only thing Russell is known for is able to throw 75 yards with ease. Other than that none of these:
work ethic
accuracy
leadership
football IQ
mechanics
quick release
no no no no no no
November 26th, 2009 at 3:18 pm
russell does look smaller though when they show him on the sideline he looks like he lost some weight
November 26th, 2009 at 3:19 pm
can we get a playaction?
November 26th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
OMGFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Russell would have lost a fumble on that last one. That’s one of my main complaints with him right now. He has no feel in the pocket. I haven’t given up on Russell but think that sitting on the bench may be good for him. Let the players develop around and maybe be able to support Russell when he’s able to play again. That’s just my thought on the matter.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
yeayhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
November 26th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
Way to Player Hate Priest(?)…..
November 26th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
this looks like the situation that got russell benched long pass to murphy called back by penalty
November 26th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
Wow he held onto the ball.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
take that priesttj, take that Mrs. Cowards!!!!!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:24 pm
how the hell do you know how smart he is? what makes gradkowski seem so smart? didnt he get busted for some gambling in college? doesnt seem to smart to me.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
i admit russell would not have done that he doesnt throw to dhb
November 26th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Look at the hands on that boy.
Go DHB
November 26th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Good drive, but Hey-B body catch this one again? Or was it just too low to catch properly?
November 26th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
Give him credit he got it done. Thank GAWD!!
I hate the Cowgirls!!
Grads can dink and dunk with the best of them. Puhleeeeze Grads if you can get me this win I’ll support your sorry butt!!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
wow, a journey man QB just threw more TD passes in 1.5 games vs Russell in 8.5 games. Priesttj, i can sleep well tonite knowing the raiders gave itself the best chance to win by benching JR.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
it took this long to finally put dhb in the slot. about time cable did that. aig when russell shows more he should get back on the field. the point was how that liar cable did it. russell was known for more than his arm in college. if any of yall paid attention to what people said about him yall would know that.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Grads is a journeyman AIG at some point you should do something. Let’s see what he does from here.
BEAT THE COWGIRLS!!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Russell 9 games 2 td’s
Grads 2 games 3 td’s
November 26th, 2009 at 3:30 pm
WHO’S CRAZY ENOUGH TO START DHB IN FANTASY? Me THAT’S WHO!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
>> russell was known for more than his arm in college.
Yeah, I guess for his healthy appetite…
November 26th, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Grads has a lot more to work with, Russell had garbage.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Can you imagine if Russell had what Romo has to work with?
November 26th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
Grad threw a td to Murphy, Dhb, and Miller. I believe Russel had the same guys. let’s stop iwth that argument.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Armond,
i agree. they have been using dhb wrong cuz of crazy Al wanting the deep ball with dhb. dhb is better served with short passes and build his confidence.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
So did Russell except DHB dropped all of them.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Dirty – At least it wasn’t last week when I played against you. How many weeks have you started him now. I guess it’s bound to pay off for you. Well lets hope he now gets a 90 yd TD!
November 26th, 2009 at 3:37 pm
Man this guy is scary with the football.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Armond,
dhb’s best assets are his legs not his hands. I dont know why we dont do quick screens with him or reverses.
November 26th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Priest who is scary with the football, and why?
November 26th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Aig i agree with you on that one. He needs to take a couple of hits so he won’t be so tense when thrown to.
