Russell takes a knee

As the Raiders wrapped up the media window consisting of warmups and drills Wednesday, JaMarcus Russell took a knee and was observing while Bruce Gradkowski lined up under center with the first team offense.

Gradkowski’s reps increased last week

Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski was mum Wednesday on the subject of whether he would be the starting quarterback this week, preferring to let coach Tom Cable do the talking, but apparently his work load began to increase in the days preceding the 16-10 loss to Kansas City.

Chad Ochocinco, (mostly) uncensored

Conference calls are often routine affairs, but not in the case of Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco. No sense in doing much editing on this one. Particularly interesting were Ochocinco’s observations on cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and his thoughts about how catching passes ought to be a refined skill by the time a receiver enters the NFL as a rookie.

Gradkowski awaits word

Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, who had the Raiders in position for a potential victory following a two-minute drill only to have a pass deflect off the hands of Darrius Heyward-Bey to Mike Brown for an interception, said Monday he doesn’t know what his status will be for this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
