And away we go . .

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer

Fortunately working from home today, since I’ll be on Advils and cough syrup all day . . . doesn’t look to be snowing as it was for Pitt-Cincinnati game Saturday. Will be cold, however, and a legitimate test to see if the Raiders can tough it out defensively against a team determined to run down their collective throat.

Hell of a start on that opening kickoff . . .

No Darrius Heyward-Bey, who must have sustained an injury getting off the plane or coach Tom Cable simply forgot to mention it when going over injuries Friday in a 90-second press briefing. No need to keep it a secret. Not as if DHB has been the kind of players opponents have had to prepare for.

Great example of how a defense can keep a team in a game against a superior opponent came from Nebraska against Texas in the Big 12 title game. (Yeah, I watched a lot of college football Saturday). Afraid Ndamukong Suh, at first glance, won’t be around when the Raiders pick unless they lose out. Can’t remember last time I saw a more dominant performanc efrom a defensive lineman.

I think Tom Cable plays favorites. He doesn’t like Mike Bush.. That’s clear.

If Cable is back next yr…Bush will not be…which would be a shame.

Running DMAC up the middle as the shortyardage back.

    CAble is a……

  17. aig Says:

    snb,

prob true and cable outsmarts himself sometimes. he prob thinks having mcfadden back there the D will think we will pass just like having fargas in the prev 4 and 1. Just line them up and crack some heads is all I want Cable to do,

  18. RaidingTexas Says:

Well, at least it won’t be a shutout.

  19. Raider O Says:

Fire Cable! He is a moron!

  20. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

I didn’t know Higgins was still on the roster….

  21. radraider Says:

    rt side ol breakdown

  22. aig Says:

now cable asks mcchiken to block and he whiffed. Cable is killing the drives today.

  23. Raider O Says:

    Raiders 3
    Steelers 3

  24. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

THe Steelers are ateam that you have to attack with a big back.

    We are playing games again.

    Cable freekn LOVES fargas.

    Damn

  25. VanHeathen Says:

We should pitchi it to DMac and play Fargas to pick up pass rush, this is totally backwards…nice whiff DMac

  26. aig Says:

at least he has mitchell in for the nickel at lb today

  27. aig Says:

    exactly Van

  28. JB Says:

DMac as a RB = BUST

DMac as a WR (slot) = Maybe

Carlisle getting his ass handed to him everytime.

  29. radraider Says:

    nice wiff huff and johnson

  30. JB Says:

    Our LB’s suck

  31. Raider O Says:

    60 yard run!!!!

  32. RaidingTexas Says:

    Another big play. Imagine that.

  33. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

THere goes those big plays again!

  34. aig Says:

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. raidermarty Says:

    Damn frustrating as hell….

  36. El Tato Says:

Our LB’s are the reason we give up so many ”explosive” plays

Howard and Morrison are bad in run defense

  37. El Tato Says:

83 yards kick off and 60 yards run in 12 minutes

  38. JB Says:

Just don’t give it to DMac

  39. Raider O Says:

    6-3 steelers

  40. radraider Says:

    score still 3-3 though

  41. aig Says:

    eL,
Was it Morrison or Nnamdi who wiffed on that big run? I didnt see Howard in on the play. I know Scott and Morrison were def there.

  42. JB Says:

McFadden is a BUST as a NFL caliber RB. The vote is in. His only salvation is slot receiver like a Welker. Get him the ball in the open, then maybe. He just goes down far too easy.

  43. raidermarty Says:

Yeah I would agree with you El Tato-they’re always out of position and bad tacklers.

  44. JB Says:

Isn’t it amazing what a slow 40 receiving runner can do when he’s a real football player?

  45. Silver and Barf Says:

Doesn’t matter how good of a football player Suh is. All that matters to Davis is:

    1) Does he look good coming off the bus?
    2) What’s his 40 time?

So no need to worry about great players being gone by the time the Raiders pick. It isn’t like they would pick one even if one was available.
