Gallery needs back surgery _ out for season
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 at 2:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Coach Tom Cable was short on details, but said left guard Robert Gallery “needed a repair done” on his back and is out for the season.
Cable said the injury was not career theatening. Chris Morris will start at left guard with Samson Satele, who took most of the reps with a calf injury, scheduled to start at center.
When Gallery is put on injured reserve, guard-center Roy Schuening of Oregon State will be promoted from the practice squad.
Gallery missed much of training camp after an emergency appendectomy in July and went down in Week 2 with a broken left fibula. Upon his return, he played in six games before the back injury.
“I just know it’s in the lower back. I’m no doctor, I don’t know the terms,” Cable said.
Cable said losing Gallery was a blow to the offensive line.
“He’s a very good player, was playing very well before he got hurt in Kansas City, so he comes back and gets back in the groove,” Cable said. “It’s disappointing for him and our team. He’s not had these types of things that have kept him out of games in the past. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it’s the game, and it does it to a lot of people.”
More to come . . .

Seymour: Ex-teammates say “we could use you”
Posted by Michael David Smith on December 10, 2009 5:37 PM ET
Three months after the Patriots traded defensive lineman Richard Seymour to Oakland, Seymour says some of his former teammates tell him they’re feeling his absence in New England.
“I’ve received a lot of text messages lately from guys back there saying, ‘We could use you now,’” Seymour told the Boston Herald. “I’m sure they could, but so can Oakland. Over the years we won a lot in New England, but they can’t live off those Super Bowls. Most of the guys who won them are gone.”
In Seymour’s opinion, the Patriots have suffered as a franchise because coach Bill Belichick is so confident in his defensive schemes that he thinks he can just plug in any player.
“They wish it was that easy to replace me, but it’s not,” Seymour said. “You can’t just have great coaching and no talent. You’ve got to have both. Bill is an extremely smart coach. Extremely [smart] . . . but he thinks it’s his schemes all the time. He had players like ‘Hot Rod’ [Rodney Harrison], myself, Ty [Law], Willie [McGinest], [Tedy] Bruschi and [Mike] Vrabel in that system to make it look good.”
Although Seymour says the Patriots are struggling without him, he acknowledges that they’re a lot better than the Raiders. And yet he also says he’s happy to have moved on from New England.
“We all want to be on a winning team,” Seymour said. “I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been frustrating at times, because I know we can win if we play a certain way and then we don’t. But at the end of the day I’m glad I’m of out there. I’m really refreshed. I’m in a good place, personally and physically. I’m in a place where they really value you.”
According to Seymour, Belichick didn’t value him enough — but other Patriots wish he were still their teammate.

I despise Bill Belichick, arrogant fuk!

hahahaha. I guess he got tired of weed. Yep, quote from les on the website you posted…
Having forsaken some of my past “indulgences,” I found myself becoming an avid consumer of wines from my neighborhood.

It is also well known that Les is/was a big fan of the fungus. I am pretty sure that he still smokes, I have heard that his wines are meant to compliment the flavor of certain smokable herbs. Dude lives about 2.5 miles from my house, not too far from Dave Schools’ place, if you know who that is…

Bummer about Gallery.
As soon as I read that he was having “numbness in the legs.” I knew he was going to have a date with the surgeon’s scalpel..
Been there, done that…
Speedy recovery, Robert…

One day Randy Hanson is going to be placing that Super Bowl ring on his finger, not Cable. Hanson will be around much longer than the current head coach. I say Cable keeps his job before being fired four games into next season.

As much as Gallery has been a flop as the #2 pick and wasn’t the great LT he was hyped up to be…at least he salvaged a decent career as a guard.
Good luck Bob…see you next year!
