So much for DHB vs. Hall

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, December 11th, 2009 at 10:37 am in Oakland Raiders.

Looks like the matchup between the receiver who can’t get open and the cornerback who can’t cover anyone won’t come to pass.

Washington cornerback DeAngelo Hall, whose eight-game tenure in Oakland was typified by giving up huge cushions and lot of completions, has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Raiders at the Coliseum because of a knee injury, Washington coach Jim Zorn told reporters.

Meanwhile, Darrius Heyward-Bey, who had nine catches for 124 yards despite being targeted 40 times in 11 starts, was not present as practice began, a strong indication he won’t play against the Redskins because of a foot strain.

Notably, Washington has also ruled out defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (ankle) due to an ankle injury, further weakening the NFL’s 24th-ranked run defense, as well as fullback Mike Sellers (thigh bruise).

Raiders defensive end Greg Ellis had his helmet and was talking with fellow defensive linemen as practice began, although he’s done that before and not participated.

More to come later . . .

So you all think Bruce is the next Rich Gannon!
This is JR’s team, and he is our future like VY at Tenn. He needs to learn, and grow up. Then he can be a good NFL QB.

JR is the Future, and so is DMC. They have talent, but they need to develop as people and as players.

  • aig

    Mr.

If you havent noticed, we have a hard time winning period…against good or bad team.

I knew people would come on here using the Steelers sucks excuse. We suck and have been for a long time.

I just am happy to see we got a win. I dont care how we got it. However, I am optimistic since we have Grad back there rather than Jr. I know you love JR and I also know it pains you to see that Grad has already outperformed him by Raider QB standard.

  • new englandraider

man we’ve had some of the worst qb’s ever. jruss, tood HEROINovich, jeff george, rick mirer rob johnson, hollas, mccown, tui, kerrence collins, wilson, i can go on and on. i was born in 1980 and aside from gannon i’ve yet to see a decent qb. too young to remember plunkett

    POST OF THE DAY

I was worried about how good the skins have been playing against good teams but the OAKLAND FRIGGING RAIDERS
have been kicking butt and taking names

    Chris in NY Says:
    December 11th, 2009 at 11:21 am
I’m telling you I smell I first blowout win of the season. Not that we’re so much better than the ‘Skins who have played decent in recent weeks. But …

    - Wash is coming off a disheartening loss to the Saints. And hard-fought losses to the division rivals Cowboys and Eagles before that. Can you say “letdown game”.
    - They’re flying cross country to play what some would call a meaningless game.
    - They have a lame-duck coach with just 4 games left in the season.
    - No Haynesworth.
    - No Clinton Portis.

    Meanwhile,
    - The Raiders are coming off one of their best wins in awhile.
    - They’re 2-1 against 3 good teams since Bruce Almighty took over.
    - They have a QB they believe in.
    - While Zorn is gone, Cable is still fighting for his job.
    - They’re at home and the home crowd should have their back after the Pitt win last week and the last time they played at home was the win over Cinci.

I’m feeling a 27-10 type game and a Raider Nation bumrush to the Bruce Almighty bandwagon.

  • DMAC

    HAY!!!!!!!!

  • 4evaRaider

  • new englandraider

maybe nomar fukudome bush. i dunno

  • Plunketthead

    I think I understand. lol

  • aig

    Plunket,

I was thinking the same thing when I read the Pft on A. Thomas. You know he wants to get the fck out of there. Al loves reclamation project. I am sure NE thought A. thomas is a bust freeagent anyways.

  • DMAC

Plunk, WTF are you talking about!!!!

    Just fk’n with u. lmao

  • new englandraider

    me 2 raider o me 2

  • DMAC

Would you guys give up a 2nd rounder for him?

  • new englandraider

Thomas was a beast in balti. here in ne not all that. maybe one of our 3rd rd picks. we have 2 right?

  • Plunketthead

lol I have the HL and I pulled a muscle in my back, went to doc, got some muscle relaxers, went to safeway and stocked up, got a fire burning and I dont have to leave untill monday morning

Man I hope the Raiders kick butt and look great doing it. I want to go into the offseason hyped up.
I want JR to work his butt off and come back looking lean and mean
I want DHB to prove himself next year,
I want DMAC to start kicking butt
I want Cable to winout this year and KICK BUTT next year

    Thats my Christmas list

  • new englandraider

dakota i hope u dont take offense to the names. its just for humor purposes only. u know youda man. go lakers bro

  • http://atm Raider O

    How about Adolf Bush Reagan?

  • aig

no not a 2nd. He will not get a 2nd in the league. I think a 3rd or 4th round at best. Most likely NE may even cut him (i dont know the contract) cuz I think he has been there 3 eyars already. Ususally they dont pay you your 4th and 5th year. They ask for a redo if they want to keep you. He’s 32 years old so I expect a similar ellis signing.

  • DMAC

I’m all for a few more proven vets on the team.

  • Plunketthead

    Aig

And Bll and Al have a working relationship that Al does not have with any other team and Al is good at picking Bills pocket (I got it right that time) : )

  • Pingback: So much for DeAngelo Hall playing - Oakland Raiders Forum | Message Board - Where the Raider Nation lives!
