Cable tells Denver media Frye to start

Share

Raiders coach Tom Cable told the Denver media during a conference call Charlie Frye would start at quarterback Sunday against the Broncos.

Cable was decidedly lukewarm Monday in his assessment of quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Cable doesn’t talk to the Bay Area media until 2 p.m.

More to come later . . .

It’s bad enough that JaBustus is NOT an NFL caliber QB, the fact that he has no leadership skills or hope of getting any in the forseeable future are immediate reasons to see that he never gets on the field again. Looking beyond the obvious, he’s simply dangerous to our other viable players. The eratic passing and poorly placed throws are more often than not exposing our WR’s to injury. How are we going to feel if we lose a Zach Miler, Murphy, Higgins or even Bey when they try to catch one of those poorly thrown passes in traffic and get blindsided from incoming safeties and linebackers? Wesimply can’t afford, personnel-wise, to have JaBustus throwing passes. This BIG DUMMY is a total loss in all respects.

  • 4evaRaider

throw all the games #2 played in,in the crapper and go from there.Remember Garcia leaving didnt help matters.Cable has 2 young QB’s 2rookie WR’s injuries galore. And a defense, while better or at least it seems better, you’re not gonna believe this Jhill, was GASHED….GASHED I SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thec07

We are going to start stockpiling QB’s for gruden. You know how he likes to carry at least 5….

  • Really when I look back at this entire season, I think the only thing Cable really did good and it is the only thing I can truly give him good credit for is:

Putting Langston Walker in to replace Gallery and getting him to play a serviceable game on the fly like that in Pittsburgh.

Anyone can think of any other examples?

  • Yeah players certainly have a major impact on how well a coach seems to be coaching, but if you took some already great players and put them on a squad led by Tom Cable, you can’t tell me you believe he is capable of coaching those players to the Super Bowl.

    Come on, be honest.

Based on his resume the guy couldn’t get a college head coaching job prior to the Raiders promoting him.

I’d take him as an o-line coach any day…as long as he wasn’t allowed to decide who gets signed and who gets to play, lol. Prior to last season I said hey, Kwame Harris? I trust Cable knows what he is doing…..but that ordeal undid even that trust I had in Cable.

Trent Edwards and Gruden…Match made in Heaven. 10 Years of Greatness (Hopefully)

  • big pep

o-line this wide out that, always some excuse for this fat piece of turd, bottom line is your team is only as good as your q.b., and our starting q.b. suxs. all you have to do is look at new england they suced with bledsoe could never win with him but in comes brady and he was done. then he goes to dallas and suxs there too and again this time an undrafted player in romo out plays his sorry ass. go ask vick about his line and wideouts they all suced when he was there, then hes gone and ryan makes everyone better.

  • jhill

    4eva ..

You know you’re my man 50 grand …

But Cable has GOT to go!

This is the same QB and team that got him wins and a job he would have never had anywhere else. He hand picked his staff (ehh-hmmm, lol) and this is what we get?

    Regression?

As bad as Kiffin may have been, he got WAY more with less. At least we were in games and had a running game to speak of WITH #2 at QB.

There has not been one thing I can point to that say maybe this guy will turn things around.

I mean really, like Dakota poined out. The 2 wins were NOT because of Cable and his offense. We got lucky 2 or 3 times at the end of the Cincy game. AND we got lucky in the Pittsburgh game that the rookie DB had just entered the game for the CB who got taken out by his own man. Grads threw that ball right to the Pittsburgh defender.

It’s not like there was some Cable led offensive breakout after Grads came in.

  • jhill

Didn’t Beldsoe lead the Pats to the SB?

  • Raider240

JP may not even see the field but if he does he wont be any worse then Russell has been and besides unlike Russell he has incintive to try he is playing for his career. Russell has his millions and has yet to sho he truly give a flying monkey poop.

Dont assume he is gone yet though I tend to think AD will not e abel to part with him just yet. If he could just get his ass in the film room and study. Try actually playing at your listed weight on the teams website might. Be a great start too……Whatever i am out you all have a good day.

  • 24

    Ok…I’m breaking this down.

Dick Jauron went 3-6 as the Head Coach of the Bills this year before he got fired. Thats 9 games. Trent Edwards started the 1st 7 games. Basically, both QB’s struggled under Jauron but Edwards has better stats than Fitzpatrick since he took over and the offense has been better under new direction.

Trent Edwards played in Los Gatos and at Stanford and he was highly touted by fans on this blog when the draft was going on. He ended up getting drafted 3rd round 96 pick. We could easily trade a 4th round pick for him.

The key word here is “it.”

Is “it” the ball or his ass?
    ———

Brother. I should have added that in no way am I endorsing DHB. I just can’t stand the idiot Rackolamb that comes on here barking when he doesnt know his facts.

If I had to chose on your selections above, I say the ball and his ass. However, dont expect them both to be “hand in hand”!

  • 4evaRaider

Jhill….while you and Dakota have “grounds 2 stand on lol” regarding your “opinion” for Cable….

Lets consider the alternative.Last year “CONTINUITY” was all the rage lol.

Now its next year and its throw the dirty bums out!!!!

If you guys keep getting your way we will never BREAK THE CYCLE LOL

  • The Big Banana

Russell is clearly a piece of garbage. It’s one thing to be slow, stupid, and play like crap. It’s another to do all of those things and throw your teammates under the bus and pretend that you’re doing nothing wrong. And people wonder why his teammates didn’t play for him when he was in there.

When it comes to fans continuing to support this guy, some people just have a REAL hard time letting go of their precious ego. They want to be right so bad, they will come up with any excuse they can think of. And, man, have we heard it all in this blog. Then, when the excuses all run out, they start calling people racists.

Takes a man to admit that you’re wrong and move on. I wanted this guy to succeed. We all did. We fell for Davis’ razzle dazzle. It was all smoke and mirrors though. With all the stuff about his weight, work ethic, and flat out lack of sustained production, we all should have known, coming out of college, that he wouldn’t amount to anything. Guy’s a colossal bust and epitomizes all that is wrong with the rookie pay structure. End of Story.

The Raiders should be all over Richie Incognito… he would be a decent fill in for Gallery.

  • aig

    Dakota,

Thanks. BTW, I’ve stopped envisioning the Raiders and SB for a long time now. I just want to be respectable. You’re way ahead of me. I doubt if we will ever get a SB caliber coach with AD at the helm.

  • 4evaRaider

Plus no one would realise what hes doing lol

  • bcz24

Ok reading back through some posts… did I really just see someone trying to say we should go get TRENT EDWARDS… Let me help you with that one. Trent is no better then Jamarcus when it comes to on field presence. The dude is so gun shy after the shot he took from Carlos Dansby last year. He has never been the same since that hit, and our OLine isnt much better than Buffalos.

I’ve been tempted to use other names to refer to JaMarcus Russell. But I’ve refrained.
I think in a few years, just the name JaMarcus will be considered an insult.

“OMG, that guy’s so bad, he’s the next JaMarcus…”
    ====================================================
So true. Maybe they’ll name the new rookie cap (if one is approved) after JaMarcus.

Jamarcus has been found out. He has been exposed as the fraud that he is. He looked like he wanted to crawl under a rock after the Washington game. He’s in it for the money and he knows everyone knows. Now there is no way for him to save face.He is done. As they say in spanish, “Ai te meo!

Thank God. It was the only option. Re: the DHB vs Crabtree debate above, the kid has not shown us anything to make him think he can develop into a player of Crabtree’s caliber. If you come into the NFL and can’t catch, good luck.

    Big Banana,

    sorry bro.

    QC,

JR was nothing buy hype. He is everything that is wrong with the way they profile and prospect QB’s. Billy Beane was one of the first guy to destroy the old prospecting system of baseball. I hope that JR has finally nailed the coffin with this big arm theory.

QB = Leadership, Accuracy, and Decision making. That has to be the way to prospect a QB.

    You nailed it.

  • Plunketthead

There is a reason why QB’s have historically held a clipboard for a couple years before being thrown to the wolves.

    They cant handle it.
I hope JR gets it together

    108. JHill:

    Bingo.

Guys started makin plays for Gradkowski. well fu-k those guys. They ADMIT to tanking it for Russell. Aren’t you supposed be a TEAM?!!!!!!

If the guys struggling YOU step up and support him not quit on him.

I’m sure there will be a slew of slams on Russell when and if he’s dumped, things they couldn;’t reveal while he was here, but man, this team needs a Gannonesque leader to kick these lazy jerks azzes!

    WE DESERVE BETTER…

  • Nnamdi21

    Kyle Orton

    Ha!

    Tavaris Jackson

    Please…

    Chad Pennington

    Kellen Clemmens

    I guess

    Charlie Batch – Pittsburgh

    Kyle Boller – St. Louis

David Carr – New York Giants

    Dante Culpepper

    Rex Grossman

    Joey Harrington – New Orleans

    Jon Kitna

    Patrick Ramsey

    RFAs

    Matt Moore

    Brett Ratliff

    I agree 1000%

Out of that list of QBs..I wouldn’t mind seeing Grads back. But def with competition..Troy Smith would be nice. I also thought David Carr has looked good while with the Giants. If you remember, when he was with Houston, they had a terrible line and no weapons. A Johnson was just a rookie..

O-line needs to be a priority in this draft. And a LB that can stick people running up the middle.

  • A decent, logical, well rounded draft would be nice.
