Cable says it’s Frye

Talking with reporters following the game, Raiders coach Tom Cable said Charlie Frye would be the starter if healthy against Cleveland next week.

He added that he was proud of JaMarcus Russell, recovering from some bad plays to lead the Raiders to the winning touchdown. Russell received a game ball.

Michael Bush got all the extra work because Justin Fargas “tweaked” a knee early in the game.

sorry, have to disagree.this win was a total team effort.i find it difficult to say the Def. won when we didn’t get any TOs and gave up 19 points.

John Marshall has made Al Davis’ defense look a lot better than either Rob Ryan or Chuck Bresnahan was able to do. Hes more in line with Willie Shaw and his playcalling and its only his 1st year in the system.

Good things tend to happen when Bush gets double digit touches

    K.C 16 carries 90 yds
    Buf 14 carries 55 yds
    S.D 14 carreis 48 yds and 7 rec 80 yds
    Tampa 27 carries 177 yds

    S&B,

If you would have omitted the Giants game stats, we wouldn’t have knonw. Coulda kept that one to yourself. Buffalo game too.

If he’s like Shaw, he should be fired in 2 weeks.

Another 10 tackle game from Branch.

Very, very solid player. A couple of nice stuffs of runs right at the line of scrimmage.

And old man Ellis with 2 sacks. I like that guy a lot, a class act and makes an impact on and off the field. Let’s hope he is back healthy again next year.

well lefty I’m sure you would disagree….tell me what the offensive players did to help the defense hold the Broncos to a field goal after the McFadden fumble….Broncos score a TD and it would have been an insumountable lead for Ja Meatloaf

The Raiders Offensive line played much better than Denver’s O-line did.

Less sacks, more rushing yards, way higher YPC and a victory.

    504,

Can’t omit the Giants or Bills game. Have to include Bush’s total record. The total record shows that the Raiders are better off when Bush gets double digit touches.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Its not about getting Bush carries…It should be about who backs up Bush….how should the other 30 to 40% of the carries be distributed.

Bush is hands down the most dynamic back on this team.

uplocomotive, there’s plenty of time between now and Sunday. We’ll see who actually starts. Remember, this is the Raiders, where a lot of guys who really aren’t injured are reported injured anyway.

Injured or not i’m glad dhb was not on the field !

    you?

  • lefty12

the Def. played great,no question, but we ran the ball for close to 200 yds.,we kicked a 55 yd FG,they didn’t have any big KO or punt returns-a team effort.i wasn’t trying to downplay our Def. effort, but i believe the whole team contributed to this win unlike the Philly game where the Def. definitely won the game.i’m not trying to argue-we beat the donkeys in Denver-i’m one happy fan.

    Just sayin S&B,

woulda made his case for playin time better and I bet Cable wouldn’t have even known.

  • RaiderYYZ

Bush, Run DMC, Huff, Tyvon, Mike Mitchell, Super Mario, Schilens, Myers, Shaughnessy, Louis Murphy.

A bunch of AD picks looked really good today.

Nice to see JaMarcus come back into the game and make a play on 4th down and then a couple more passes for the win.

Nobody should really be saying anything negative right now.

It sure helped to have a running game. An offensive line can look a lot better when they have a RB like Bush instead of Fargas. It helps the passing game overall with the protection because it puts less stress on them. Its up to the QB at that point to make plays.

Bush broke a lot of tackles today. Huge difference when a RB does that for a team. That’s what an above average NFL RB looks like, and I would love to get that every week.

    Would do our O wonders.

  • lefty12

an O-line can also look better when your QB knows what he is doing.it shouldn’t be overlooked that since the anchor has been benched sacks have gone waaaaaay down!

  • r8eray

Yeah it was a good win, but you must say..coach should have gone for a field goal!!

  • 24

Jamarcus proved that our offensive line is more talented without him and their biggest reason for failure is their lack of confidence in JR causes them to have a lack of focus and motivation, which is why they don’t play so well when hes the QB.

24, the O-Line is not any better no matter the QB. It just happens that Gradz and Frye are mobile enough to make up for their mistakes…

i HOPE WE SEE MORE BUSH THIS YEAR…

  • RaiderYYZ

JaMarcus needs solid protection to have the chance to be successful (not saying he consistently would be right now even if he had it), same with QB’s like Warner, P. Manning, Bledsoe…

the team won the game, i could throw a 10 yard pass to someone who’s wide open, he’s still the worst QB i’ve seen since ryan leaf…Jamanboobs has to go next year, Gradkowski is the leader and the best i’ve seen we have since Rich Gannon

all i have to say is get rid of the embarrassment russell , give GRADKOWSKI whatever he wants, the guy is a born leader the whole team plays better when he’s in there, after all our “CHUCKY” drafted him and everyone knows he knows QB”s. how about this dream team MADDEN as our GM and GRUDEN head coach wow!, hey i can dream can’t i?, seriously though long as GRADKOWSKI is our starter next year i am excited already for next year

    Mr. Bush is a beast!

he would have had two rushing TDs had anyone of 3 things happen:
1)OLine doesn’t get knocked on their ass 3/4 times inthe goal line stance,
    2) Mr. Lawton (who blocked well the rest of the game) doesn’t committ his dive block too early missing the block on the DB on 2nd down, Michael in quickly otherwise, and
3)Coach Cable calls a run to the left side where Mr. Bush & Mr. McFAdden were running all-over the Broncos; all four (goalline) plays were to the middle/right side.
