Cable says it’s Frye

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, December 20th, 2009 at 5:19 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Talking with reporters following the game, Raiders coach Tom Cable said Charlie Frye would be the starter if healthy against Cleveland next week.

He added that he was proud of JaMarcus Russell, recovering from some bad plays to lead the Raiders to the winning touchdown. Russell received a game ball.

Michael Bush got all the extra work because Justin Fargas “tweaked” a knee early in the game.

    just fine Thec and you?

  • jhill

    Frye sucked ???

    Wow!

If Schillens hold on the that TD pass, big difference.

    McFadden’s fumble was HUGE!

Oline is has big holes man!

  • Thec07

4eva, i am doing good. That last crack on eob was funny as hell….

  • Thec07

    What oline?

  • CaptainBlack

Something tells me MR has many aliases here. I could be wrong.

  • jhill

I’m just glad the team didn’t hear all those dejecting boos this week …. Way to keep fighting!

GAWD DAMN those big plays though!

The defense was doing a good job of switching those rub patterns, but let that one slip with Stokely.

  • Thec07

Yo Captain black, I will bite, who curently on this board is one of MR’s personalities???

  • 4evaRaider

Jhill I thought Cable used the O-line very well today.

Our O-line did great.donkeys came in 5th in thye league in points allowed. And I think they were 7 vs. the run.O-line did good, imo

  • http://none The Real MaddenRaider

I do have many aliases, Captain Black. Funny though how you big multiple alias accusers never actually name the aliases. I mean, with your superior detective skills, surely you’ve spotted my actual pseudonyms?

  • RaiderYYZ

O-Line has been great under cable in the run game for the most part, not so much in terms of pass protection.

JaMarcus can never be successful without time, same can be saidfor Warner, and P. Manning…

RT and RG should be the top off-season priorities.

  • http://none The Real MaddenRaider

Whoa, Thec, did you just get my back? Thanks, bruh. I’m kidding. I mean bruh as in for real. As in thank, brother.

  • 4evaRaider

    lmao Thec

  • 24

Ok…I’ll take back what I said when I said Frye sucked. That was probably the wrong terminology. In terms of managing the game, Frye did a good job. I just didn’t see anything that stood out as far as winning the game for us. If anything, he kept us in the game so I guess thats all you can ask for. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe my expectations were a little too high? Jamarcus coming in and winning the game was just a huge shock to me.

  • http://none The Real MaddenRaider

So, Captain Lou, tell us which pseudonyms online right now are mine.

  • RaiderYYZ

this is assuming JaMarcus is back which I think will be the case…

  • 24

Maybe next year the o-line can look like this…

    LT – Henderson
    LG – Gallery
    C – Morris/Satele
    RG – Langston Walker
    RT – ?

We are the Champions! We are the Champions! AFC WEST Champions four years in a row!!! I have to thank you to the Raiders for giving us a little help. The Broncos are what we thought they were!

    the ? should be filled with a 1st or 2nd round draft pick….should be….

but we said that last year…

  • http://none The Real MaddenRaider

uplocomotive, there’s plenty of time between now and Sunday. We’ll see who actually starts. Remember, this is the Raiders, where a lot of guys who really aren’t injured are reported injured anyway.

  • jhill

    4eva,

I thought Cable calling that bootleg in the 2nd qtr slowed the pass rush considerably. 1st qtr was a disaster for the Oline, but it opened up after that play.

Running game was more of Bush and McFadden running against the blocking on that one drive, and a nice job by Cable of bringing Pears in as an extra beef dude, lol.

I just don’t get why we STOPPED running to the left when we go to the goal line.

But I certainly give Cable credit for having the guys ready to play REGARDLESS of who is behind C. Exactly what Smac and I were talking about last week!

  • 4evaRaider

If we was to put Walker at RG and Green at RT HOLY COW….There IS the beef

  • http://www.ladainiantomlinson.com/ Charged Up for Superbowl Victory

By the way Captain Lou, I am not MR.

  • Thec07

I look forward to the dischargers making it to the playoffs and losing. You guys allways have this crazy dream that you are going to win the SB… It never happens. Keep dreaming…

  • jhill

Surely Langston will be on the line next year!

    LT – Henderson
LG – Walker (will believe Gallery is back when I see it! Back surgery and a broken leg?)
    C – 2nd rd pick
RG – Trade for a solid vet
    RT – Okung!

    No Prob…. Its pretty ob…

if the fans could give out game balls, this fan would give one to M.Huff.that hit he put on Marshall was a thing of beauty.another ‘bust’ making a huge play to save the game.

  • r8eray

M.Mitchell had a good game! Frye had a good enough game to put us with a win! Bush was MVP of the game!

  • 4evaRaider

Jhill I think I could have run through the left side of our line. For the life of me I dont know why we stopped either. But I think we can win out.LOL 2 games win out YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

But it looks like Cable really does have the locker room and a couple more pieces and we’ll be CONTENDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA’S

  • Thec07

For all i know captain lou could be MR….

  • 24

JHill – Trade for who? I don’t see us trading for O-Lineman, its really rare.

  • http://CableBumaye 909RaiderLifer

Here’s what I saw from my seat, and a bucket of ice COLD beer + a shot or 3 of Patron
    at the local dive….

I saw a determined Defense, that held the Donkey’s when it counted. I saw a 3rd. string QB Do just enough to keep the chains moving..

I saw Michael Bush, get his chance at redemption, and run with it…

Even though McFadden FUMBLED, he did not QUIT!

Then, I watched a former #1 QB come off the bench, and do JUST enough to WIN the game!

    Twasn’t pretty, but a WIN is a WIN…

If you can find faults with this Win, then you need to find another team…

Bottem line is: WE DID NOT QUIT!!!!!!!

    Nothing wrong with that!

    That is all, carry on….

  • 24

Charged Up! – Haha. 4 Years of winning the division and 0 Superbowls to show for it. Your team is just as good as the Raiders.

  • jhill

    Good call on Huff Lefty!

  • 24

Micheal Huff under Rob Ryan – BUST!

Michael Huff under John Marshall – Not Bust!

I think its clear that Huff’s problem was Rob Ryan and his coaching. Hes a much different player under a much better coordinator.

That hit Huff laid down, sure as hell looked liked Jack Tatum to me..

    Good times……

OH…I didn’t know John Marshall was the D B coach…Huff learning from the Defensive Coordinator personally?

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Good things tend to happen when Bush gets double digit touches

    K.C 16 carries 90 yds
    Buf 14 carries 55 yds
    S.D 14 carreis 48 yds and 7 rec 80 yds
    Tampa 27 carries 177 yds

    San Diego 12 carries 55yds
    Giants 12 carries 37 yds
    K.C 14 carries 119 yds
    Denver 18 carres 133 yds

  • 24

The team should use the current secondary players like this…

    CB – Asomugha
    CB – Johnson
    Nickelback/Safety – Huff
    SS – Mitchell
    FS – Branch

    4th Corner – Routt
    4th Safety – Eugene

  • spellcheck

    The DEFENSE won this game.

  • 24

Spellcheck – It helps that Marshall is a better and more creative and more aggressive play caller. He obviously knows how to mask his weaknesses more and take advantage of his strengths of the team and Huff is just one of many to benefit from that this year.

  • SnB offense defense specialteams

Huff is going to have to restructure that contract though. He isn’t worth $5Mill

  • http://blstb.msn.com/i/55/90A2853B6CFBCC2AFC987BB18B832.jpg vegas raider

Our Defense still has some issues at times, but they are a lot more creative than years past. I would definately give John Marshall a passing grade this year.

  • 24

    SnB – Maybe he will?

  • spellcheck

Mule fritters 24…Huff is benefiting from better technique coaching….and using those newly nacquired skills in a more agressive scheme
