Question of the day
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, December 20th, 2009 at 4:33 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Let’s go ahead and get it out of the way right now.
Let’s say Bruce Gradkowski successfully rehabs his MCL tears and Charlie Frye’s head clears.
So, Tom Cable, who’s your starter against Cleveland?

Dear Al Davis,
Please, please, or anyone here who works for the Raiders, and I know some of you are here, please, please, review the videotape of the Pittsburgh game which shows Cable full of joy and celebrating at the end, and then observe tonight’s ending and see how Cable is obviously pissed. No emotion, just stoic and walking toward McDaniel. He’s obviously disappointed. He has the same look on his face as if he’d lose. Cable proved after the Pittsburgh game that he’s not one to hide his emotions. I think Hanson could attest to that, as well. Now look at him. He’s just blanked. He should be the happiest man on the planet right now, and he instead might be the angriest man on the planet. What a f’n joke…

Not only were many fans rooting for Denver just to spite Russell and be right, to satisfy their own fragile egos, but obviously Tom Cable was as well. Look at his total lack of excitement. After the Denver game, you couldn’t control Cable. He was leaping around like he won the lottery. Now, he’s stoic, just walking straight with a blank stare as he approaches Josh McDaniel. Congratulations, Tom. You just took Al Davis’s title as the most evil prick in the Raiders’ organization. Fire the sack of shyt now, Al.

December 20th, 2009 at 4:47 pm
We start Mr. Gradkowski, but I could see us starting Mr. Frye as he would want to give it to the Browns for trading him after one regular season start. Mr. Russell also earned another shot with that huge come from behind game winning drive against the arch-rival Denver Broncos today.

Pears, walker and Henderson all loaded on the left side payed big time dividends.

I saw a lot of Al picks do alright today. Let’s all stop panicking about the negatives and just move forward.
I think JaMarcus will be back next season as well, let’s just hope he gets his ass in gear and realizes he CAN be a good qb in this league.
December 20th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Want some sad ass news?
IF oak had won last week (ie grads doesnt go down) OAK would STILL BE ALIVE RIGHT NOW FOR WC SLOT 2!
Seriously at 6-8 they ‘would have needed’ to win out (@Cle vs Balt)
and:
1. Balt loss next week
2. Miami losing out (0-2)
3. Jets losing out (0-2)
4. Jax losing out (0-2)
5. Ten 1-1
6. houston 1-1 if they tie with ten (or 0-2 otehrwise)
7. steelers 1-1 (since they just beat GB)
realistic? no but tell me it wouldnt be that much cooler STILL being alive when our games are on in late dec?
that said, today was still AWESOME. well played as a team esp D.
At ths point I say keep Cable. He has the guys RALLYING HARD. No denying that. Lets give him -16 full games- with a REAL qb (sorry today was a fluke JR is not the answer)
and one more thing…FRIGGIN KEEP BUSH IN THE STARTING LINE UP FOR PETE’S SAKE!!
December 20th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
up locomotive, there’s no excuse for his response on the sideline after this win, when you compare it to his response after the pittsburgh win. I don’t care how happy he’s ACTING now. Reactions tell a different story. Just watch the end of the Steeler game if yo have it on tape. Watch Cable leaping around the field. It’s his reaction I’m talking about. Reactions tell you everything about people. Cable’s reaction to this win was discomfort. He knows he has to start Russell now. Imagine he starts Frye next week and loses, after winning with Russell the previous week. Al will can his ass so fast and he knows it. He’s upset right now.
December 20th, 2009 at 4:56 pm

RMR, what a self loathing football fan you are, just pathetic…
December 20th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
i guarantee if russell starts, the raiders lose this game. that last drive doesn’t change the fact he is a sitting duck. gradkowski or frye should start against the browns.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
RMR, you may be right, but Grads was given the starter job for the rest of the season according to Cable, lets see how this week plays out, it will be interesting.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
What MR you think #2 should start next week?
December 20th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Running Bush down the middle and McFadden was working out really well.
To realize how bad Russell is just check out the smoothness of his handoffs to Bush and McFadden compared to #2.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
To me theres no issue, Fry starts,
Rusell is still the backup
He hasnt proven he can do it for 4 quarters, and also, he has NO POCKET PRESENSE…
No pocket presense, no leadership, not mobile enough….
This game was won by the D, and Bush…
December 20th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
JAMARCUS RUSSELL NEVER STEPS UP IN THE POCKET!!!!
NEVER!

Green is just a disaster at RT.

We go with gradkowski, and hopefully jamarcus’s play gives him some sort of value so we can trade him in the offseason. I’d rather go with grads and frye as our qb’s for the future and get what we can for jamarcus.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
do you really believe Fargas playing over Bush is Cable’s decision?
December 20th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
Question of the day….
Why doesn’t Michael Bush start?
He should have been our starting running back since the beginning of last year.
December 20th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Save the sentimental favorites for little league.
Michael Bush is a real deal no compromises running back….the type of back that REAL offenses have.
Stop the 3-back rotation and get Bush 60 to 70% of the carries and just ride with it.
Fargas should come in to spell with a carry here or there.
Sad, if not for injury, we would have seen a lot of inspired 3 yard runs culminating in another 60 yard effort
December 20th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Bush couldnt get in from the 2 foot line.Thats production there!!!
I dont care if Bush ran for 1000 yards, its all between the 20’s and dont mean sh!t.And he still couldnt get in from the 2 yard line. What kind of RB cant get in from the 2 foot line.Bush couldnt csore a td if there was no one in front of him.lol
Its soooo funny that you been screaming that Fargas cant score and get only 60 yards.Well guess what Bush ran for 133 or whatever and he couldnt SCORE EITHER
BUT THATS PRODUCTION

I think Bush has conditioning issues. He slowed down the last two drives.

4eva,
You can’t win without production. 60 yard efforts don’t lead to victories…in case you haven’t noticed. There are a lot of hard workers that just can’t cut it on the field. No one says sport is fair.
You think we win this game if Fargas only gets 60 yards?
Oh, and Bush had another reception for 10 more yards or so.
1 Touchdown in a game where the team scores a total of 20 is quite a big deal.

you don’t know what we would have seen.are you clairvoyant or what?how about enjoying the win.

This team is very different than past years.
Keep Cable.
I seriously think with a competent QB (grads my vote right now) and a reasonable backup (losman?) this team WILL compete even ‘as is’ otherwise.
Now if we can upgrade both lines and MLB (Real run stuffer) we could be something like 8-6 this time next yr.
No im not on craq. the team DOES NOT give up.
Keep cable, sign grads and upgrade our lines.
And, while Im at it, Al get out of the way.

everybody who keeps talking about free agency need to pay attention to the nfl most of our players will be rfa and can be tendered at low costs and there wont be many other fa’s out there because most of the good ones either already signed a contract or they are going to be rfa

yards mean nothing.Touch Downs do….in case you havent noticed

I just knew the Raiders would win this one. We always beat Denver! They even made Jamarcus look good. At least Jamarcus can take a licking and keep on ticking.
Our defense won this game.

What up Nation.
Bush showed today why He should be the starting HB.
JaMarcus is a fill in QB until otherwise proven different.
The O line is PATHETIC.
If the O line is turned from a weakness to a strenght, Bruce or whomever will have half a chance to win.
Happy to see the Raiders win on the road in Denver.

7 yards a carry!
Another 100 yard game.
What does Bush need to do to EARN the starting job?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
my understanding of the situation is that in order to be the man… you must beat the man…
so apparently… M Bush will need to kick Fargas’s ass…

4eva… put the freaking beer down and pay attention…
BUSH SCORED A TOUCHDOWN TODAY…

I just have a question for the jamarcus russell bashers in here. Ive read many of times where poeple state that jamarcus doesnt care he has his money he doesnt care at all. My question is if he doesnt care why does he get hurt miss a couple plays then go back in? If he truly didnt care wouldnt it just be easier to say let losman finish the game im hurt, or in the first game when he went out and bruce came in then he came back into the game.Jamarcus may be a lot of things but to say he doesnt care i think is a lil unfounded.

Ok DaMonk got it done. However I still believe he is never gonna be a good NFL QB. Bruce is the future & Frye is a good backup. When will the coaching staff realize that Bush is a top 10 RB in the league if given the chance. Fill in some holes on the Oline and make Bush the main guy with DMac filling in as both RB/WR. Still need to get a beast at MLB.

Just ignore Madden Raider…he either is, or in cahoots with the site moderator and will get you banned.

Frye has a better arm than Gradkowski and IMO moved the chains just as well. Frye’s arm strength can stretch the field more.

I would disagree about arm strength. I saw 3 balls that should have been picked which were under-thrown today. I think Grad has the same issue. Another way to think about it is these guys wouldn’t have been available for the Raiders to grab off the scrape heap if they had better arms.

4evaRaider:
you are a moron…there is NO running back that scored EVERY time they were withing 2 or even 1 yard…Not Barry Sanders, Not Marcus Allen or Bo Jackson, Not Emmitt Smith or Walter Payton…Again noone ever scored every time…so give Bush credit…He played GREAT…And RealMaddenRaider…I think the real reason that Cable looked PISSED was bcuz the Oline sacrificed both our best QB’s and got us in a position to have to play Russell!! As a coach, I’d be pretty pissed off if I were also coaching the Oline personally, and they allowed both starting QB’s to go down, getting us to our 3rd string option. As far as Russell, he didn’t play well today. He got lucky. He did lose the ball a couple of times, showed that he moves as slow as a statue…We NEED a QB with heart…JaRyan Russelleaf doesn’t have one. We should also get rid of Cable. For far too many games he has NOT put the best players on the field. Cable should have used Javon Walker more, but he kept starting a WR who can’t catch…DHB. He kept Russell in despite his HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE play. Also, what is up with calling about 98% of our running plays up the middle for 2-3 yard gains, which consistantly force us to go 3-and-out. Try running to the OUTSIDE!!! Many times after they run up the middle for 2 yards, on the replay, if you look to the far left or right of the field, THERE ARE NO DEFENDERS ANYWHERE NEAR. Why? Cuz all the defensive coordinators in the league knows that the far majority of our runs are up the middle. Also, he should have started Bush after McFadden went down, and stuck with it. Fargas is a physical runner who can get 2 yards a carry and tire out the defensive line. But if you want a 100 yard runner, or 1,000 yard runner, you need Bush. I am tired of Cable. We need a coach who will put the best players on the field, not the highest paid… In the offseason, we need to trade Fargas and McFadden, use the picks to bolster our O’line. With our natural picks, we need to bolster our D-line to stop the run!! Then we would be true contenders!!

Yo momma should start.

Right Raiderfan, Cable is pissed cause fuggin JR came in and saved the day right when he had everyone convinced Russell was a POS and should be benched. Now here we go again…

Tony Twizzler:
Our Offensive line is responsible for Gradkowski getting injured last week. They are responsible for Frye getting injured this week. They almost allowed Russell to get his head knocked off…and the one play that JP Losman played, the oline collapsed yet again. I never said that Cable was mad that Russelleaf won the game. I said that he is angry that the offensive line has gotten us to the point of having to resort to the 3rd string option…if your gonna quote me, quote me right. I don’t think Russelleaf is a POS, but I don’t think he has the heart to put in the hours that Rich Gannon or Tom Brady, Roethlisberger, Montana, Young (just to name a few) have put in. He comes in overweight and is too slow in his release of the ball.
