Notes and observations from the third quarter of the Raiders-Browns game”
– Cleveland content to feed James Harrison (29 carries, 122 yards) and work the clock as quarter expires.
– Raiders get out of shadow of own end zone following fumble recovery but end up punting from inside own 35.
– Anderson carves up Raiders for 28- and 24-yard receptions to Mohamed Massaquoi and Michael Gaines. Touchdown by Harrison nullified by illegal block in back.
Greg Ellis fumble recovery, forced by Thomas Howard on Harrison, prevents Browns from going up 27-9.
– First possession derailed in part by Higgins drop. Frye’s 23-yard dumpoff to McFadden, beating a blitz, is wasted as Raiders punt.
– Raiders immediately give back Janikowski’s team-record 61-yard field goal on first possession. Browns drive for Dawson’s 33-yard kick.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha missed final series of half but was back on the field to start second half. If he can’t finish, they’re ultra-thin at corner with ejection of Stanford Routt.

Cable really should have focused on our own running game more throughout the game considering we’re playing Rob Ryan’s poor run defense but that would have made too much sense.

Ok, lets try the apples and oranges approach to this MR.
1. Lets call Touchdowns Gannons.
2. Lets call interceptions JaMarcus’s.
Cable has a QB sitting on the bench, who was Elway until he was drafted.
He could put him in, but on the season he has thrown 10 JaMarcus’s and only 3 Gannons. Based on simple math, it would seem that he would more readily “improve” on the JaMarcus stat than the Gannon stat. Cable needs to have more Gannons or he is going to lose his job more so than he already has. Plus in the games that the former Elway started, he struggled to throw for 100 yards.

I still think Russell is terrible but Frye didn’t prove to be any better. Gradkowski proved hes the best of those 3. I would see how Losman does next week for the hel1 of it.

Give it a rest MR. Only a fool would claim it was all Russells fault, but your making yourself a bigger fool for spouting the same line over and over just because you think its funny. This organization sucks. Probably the worst in the NFL. Im talking from the owner all the way down to the towel boys. This will probably come out in some book 10 to 15 yrs from now, but Cable became a rich man by having undisclosed “friends” bet large sums of money for him against the Raiders after all 5 of his 2009 victories.

To be honest with you, Raider75, I don’t think Frye is that bad. I was mocking him all day to drive the Russell haters up the wall, who were putting all their chips on him just to be right. But in reality, Frye’s not that bad. Guys were dropping balls all day and where was our running game? If you think a QB will fix this, you’re nuts.

Yeah the O-Line sucked but Bush still managed 52 yards and a 5.2 ypc average. I don’t know…maybe we should have stuck with the run?

What will Fassell do? Cable benched Al’s main man and knocked out one of his moles. Bottom line is that Al Davis will not pay you if you don’t do things his way. All Fassell can do is lobby for something here and there. He will not run the football consistently. Only two coaches have done it, Gruden and Kiffin. Look at what happened to both of them. At some point you guys are going to have to start thinking realistically. I know it’s part of being a sports fan to dream. But at some point you’ve got to touch ground and just see things as they are.

The Browns O-line played very well.I had J.Harrison on my FF team and each week this young O-line was getting better and better.Its no fluke this is happening.Joe Thomas and Alex Mack on the same line.

I lIKE the unnecessary roughness penalties. Last few weeks there has been extracurriculars by Oakland especially on D and 2 outa 3 times Richard Seymour is at its core. LOVE IT!!!
