Hire Madden as GM,
Gruden back as HC,
Tim Brown receivers coach,
Maybe that will get more than 5 wins next year.

MTraidernation, Cable brings continuity? Continuity of what? I see the same Raider team basically since ‘03. Only one game better, to be exact. Thanks Gradkowski, and Pittsburgh, for being choke artists.
Jon Gruden took a 4-12 team to 8-8. 100% improvement.
Lane Kiffin took a 2-14 team to 4-12. 4-12 doesn’t come close to cutting it in this league, but math doesn’t lie. It’s a 100% improvement.
Tom Cable, considering this is his first full season, took a 5-11 team to….drumroll…5-11.
I don’t know what the Websters’ definition of continuity is, but I’m going to take the liberty of revising the definition now. My definition of the word, in regards to the success of pro sports teams, is continuing something that is actually good, or that is at least an improvement from previous management. No such thing. Tom Cable proved to be not an iota better than Lane Kiffin. In fact, considering Kiffin had us at 2-2 to start off in ‘07, I’d say Cable is worse. Cable never had us close to .500 in week 4 or beyond. Face it, we’re starting from scratch, and Cable is just part of the same old losing culture.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:07 pm
DHB should be a strong safety.
He’s big and fast and can’t catch.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
As a matter of fact, considering Cable had a head start of almost a full season before his first full actual season as head coach, he has no excuse whatsoever, none whatsoever, for not having this team at at least 7 wins. I honestly believe the only success Cable had was on the back of the few things Kiffin was able to change as he tried as hard as he could to revamp this organization in his short time here. Tom Cable might honestly be the worst Raider coach ever. Considering his off the field problems to boot (hitting women?!?), the case to fire him is almost insurmountable.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
I can’t believe there are still people in here making excuses for JaMarcus. The guy just had one of the worst seasons of any NFL QB in recent memory. Despite what some are saying the offense was dramatically better with Frye and especially Gradkowski in there. In 7 games those guys each had a 300-yard passing game and in the two games where they each left at the half (vs. Washington & Baltimore) they had thrown for over 150 yards and were on pace for 300-yard outings. JaMarcus has yet to throw for 300 yards in a single game in his career.
JaMarcus looked awesome in a few flashes against Baltimore. No kidding. He was throwing it better than he probably ever has in his career. But he still had 2 turnovers and just 3 points in one half of play. Against Washington: 1 turnover and 3 points in one half of play. The guy is just completely inconsistent. He’s really incapable of leading a TD drive — which is pretty much unheard of short of 3rd-string QBs in the NFL.
Here are JaMarcus’ TD “drives” (there are so few I can easily list them):
Wk 1 vs. SD:
1) 8 runs, 2 passes Bush scores on 4-yard run.
2) Russell hits Murphy on 4th and 14 for a 57-yard TD.
Wk 2 vs. KC:
1) JaMarcus leads the Raiders on a nice 69-yard drive capped off by a McFadden TD run on a drive that started with 2:30 left in the game.
Wk 3 vs. Denver:
* No offensive TDs
Wk 4 vs. Houston:
* No offensive TDs
Wk 5 vs. NYG:
1) Raiders recover fumbled punt at Giants’ 15. 3 runs, 0 passes. Bush scores on a 5-yard run.
Wk 6 vs. Philly:
1) JaMarcus fires a nice 15-yard pass to Zach Miller who does the rest with some nice Louis Murphy blocking for an 87-yard TD.
Wk 7 vs. NYJ:
* No offensive TDs
Wk 8 vs. SD:
1) 6 runs, 1 pass on 47-yard TD drive. Capped by a Fargas 3-yard run.
Wk 10 vs. KC:
1) 3 runs (including a 60-yarder by Bush), 1 pass. Fargas scores on 1-yard run on a 70-yard drive.
Wk 14 vs. Washington:
* No offensive TDs with Russell in.
Wk 15 vs. Denver:
1) 62-yard drive. JaMarcus goes 4-for-8 on the drive with a fumble. Key plays: Cooper Carlisle recovers a sack/fumble of JaMarcus on the first play of the drive. 32-yard PI call on the Broncos. JaMarcus hits Tony Stewart on 4th and 10 to keep the drive alive.
Wk 17 vs. Baltimore:
* No offensive TDs with Russell in.
That’s it. In terms of actual QB-led “drives” and not just one-play miracles or drives where JaMarcus did virtually nothing but hand the ball off, I’ll give him 2 for the season: Week 2 against the Chiefs and Week 15 against Denver. Interestingly, both came at the end of the game with the Raiders trailing by more than 3.
Not since the first game of the season did the offense score more than 1 TD in any game with JaMarcus Russell at QB.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:32 pm
Fire Cable!!!
We have the 8th pick in this draft.
Draft ILB R McClain. Watch him on Thursday against Texas!
January 4th, 2010 at 10:34 pm
In summary:
- Raiders offense scored 8 TDs with JaMarcus at the helm this season.
- JaMarcus alone turned the ball over 17 times this season (11 INTs, 6 lost fumbles).
17 turnovers. 8 TDs (most of which he had very little to do with).
Defend that.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:35 pm
Chris,
I don’t like excuses, but I think JR can be Salvaged! He is 24, he didn’t play much his rookie season, and I liked how he played the last half of the 08 season.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:37 pm
Just read the bio on Mike Leach. It sounds like he may be a frontrunner for the HC job.
He’s a very creative OC, and has gotten good results from lesser talent. He’s into making the players tougher. And he’s into pirates. Famous pirates, pirate stories, pirate legends etc.
He and Al can compare eye patches.
Plus he was suspended for his actions by the NCAA. To Al that means “fired for cause.”
It all fits.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:39 pm
JR had a descent season in 08: 13 TDs, 8 INTs, and over 53% CMP.
BTW, that washis first season sat a starter, and this was his 2nd! I’m not ready to give up on the kid.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
Chris in NY,
You can present a perfectly sound, logical, well thought out arguement as to why JR should be sent packing, or why DHB should be cut. The only problem with that though, is that crazy Al runs the Raiders.
He wants the team run his way.
To Al, if it worked in 1963, it can work today. You just have to hit that square peg a little harder.

Notice how Cody is nowhere on that list.
The pick for the Raiders SHOULD be McClain, Williams, Okung, Smith, or Morgan. Taking McClain with that first pick if he is there is a no brainer really….but Al Davis’ brain is shot! Then after McClain the picks should be OT, DT, DE, FB, KR specialist in no particular order really.
BUT the old man will do something looney and draft Mays, Haden, Pierre-Paul, or Cody and then draft DB’s and WR’s the rest of the way. Sheesh…Terrible.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
I think JR should take a pay cut, and should compete for the job next season as his last chance. DHB has the work ethic, but he wasn’t ready to start. He was a reach a 7th!!!
January 4th, 2010 at 10:51 pm
The biggest reason against JaMarcus should not be the stats. It’s easy to argue that he’s young, inexperienced, bad team, etc. The real reason to say bye-bye is his attitude.
He’s lazy and doesn’t give the impression that he even cares. People like that never improve.
If crazy does get rid of him before next year, it should be because of attitude, not production.

Then and only then will the “organization” show it’s serious about WINNING.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
Raider O,
Not so sure about McClain. I know he won awards as the nation’s top LB, but I’ve watched a few Alabama games and he hasn’t stood out at all to me. I’d actually prefer Cody.
One guy who I really hope we get is Idaho guard Mike Iupati. He’s 6-6, 330 and has some of the best feet/quickness I’ve ever seen from a guy his size. They were saying during his bowl game that he’s likely a 2nd rounder but I have a hard time seeing him get out of the 1st.
It’s probably optimistic to think these guys will be here when we pick, but I’m liking:
1. Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
2. Mike Iupati, G, Idaho
3. Micah Johnson, MLB, Kentucky
3. Riley Cooper, WR, Florida
January 4th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
Raider O,
IMO, the biggest problem with DHB is not the work ethic, it is confidence. He doesn’t have any.
Most great receivers are glory hogs. They seek out the limelight. They want attention. DHB seems to shy away from it. With his size and speed he could have gone to any college. But he chose some minor school with a heavy running game and no QB. Therefore no pressure on him.
Louis Murphy was captain on a national championship team. He wants the ball. Three years from now, Murphy will be a solid starter, and DHB will be a bad memory.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
I think Al may draft Haden. Also notice that Dunlap is not on that list.
McClain in the 1st, and Carlos Dunlap in the 2nd.
January 4th, 2010 at 10:57 pm
The league has Russell figured out. I see little hope for him.
January 4th, 2010 at 11:00 pm
Chris,
Hard to justify drafting a G in the 8th.
Would you draft him over Dunlap if both are available in the 2nd?
January 4th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
Al will NEVER hire a GM, because in order to do that, he’d have to fire the current one, and I don’t see that happening. Al is pleased with the current GM, so get over it.
January 4th, 2010 at 11:02 pm
I would trade the 2nd round pick for Sean Rogers straight up….better yet…the Raiders 1st rounder for Sean Rogers and Cleveland’s 2nd rounder.
I have a hard time seeing a top draft pick excel in Oakland. the drafting is just to foolish.
DHB? Quite possibly the worst pick ever…even worst than JaDavis because EVERYONE knew DHB was not a top wide receiver….all those players they passed on…the USC linebackers, Raji, Harvin, Britt, Nicks, Oher, Monroe, Crabtree, Orakpo….Davis has no clue what he is doing…none
Oh, fire Cable. Continuity of bad playcalling, stupid personnel decisions, and a bad o-line is continuity that has to come to an end.
Will the next hire be any better? Probably not…but you have to try…probability laws alone gives us a CHANCE at improvement. With Cable it will be more of the same…more watching Fargas, Eugene, Satele, Warren and words like we are close…turning the corner…blah, blah, blah…plus Gradkowski would be given the starting job and I am not sure that a 4th QTR against a bad Steeler team is enough to anoint a starter..
But Cable loves those scrappy undertalented players…
Time for change…Again

=====================================================
DE is not the need for this team…Ellis, Seymour, Shaughnessy, Scott on 3rd downs, is enough for now to not warrant a 1st round pick.
How about DT. We have no nose tackle and the run defense is 29th….and that is with Rob Ryan being fired.
How about an OT.
It SHOULD be about lineman…not linebackers, cornerbacks, receivers, safeties or kickers.
Inside out folks. Linebackers are worthless without a strong D-Line and a strong DTs that can occupy blockers and let the backers fly.
Look at the Vikings. Great D-Line and average linebackers. Show me a good MLB and you will see a good DT. Period.
Stop the outside in crap. We have a fleet footed light team that gets pushed around all over the field.
Build the lines and NOTHING ELSE! That included Morrison. I would rather keep Morrison and get a boss NT. You draft an MLB without that NT and you all will be here next year complaining about the latest BUST

Agreed…..I wouldn’t have any problem with any of those players being targeted with the 1st and 2nd round picks. Odrick and Iupati would be great 2nd round picks actually!
January 4th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
Another player who should be targeted in Round 2 is OG John Jerry from Ole Miss.
At 6′6, 335-340 pounds he would bring some much needed power to that RG position without a doubt!
I doubt Iupati will be there by the time the Raiders pick in Round 2. It’s possible…..but doubtful.

Agree with IslandRaider. A GM or big time head coach is never going to happen. All we can do is pull for our HC to be as Gruden/Kiffin-like as possible, and make fun of them if they don’t. That’s all I can really see doing today. I’m not going to put my faith into a coach who I know is just taking orders from Al. Why stop there? Why not have faith in winning the lottery, too? Why should I put such far fetched faith into a football team?

I will take another Trevor Scott on this team with a 4th round pick any day of the week. They finally starting utilizing Scott correctly by standing him up 80% of the time and then having him rush from a down position in certain packages.
Once Scott was moved to an elephant WLB spot, he was arguably the 2nd best defender on the team next to Nnamdi. Him and Branch were right after Nnamdi actually IMO.

DK,
We can run a good 3-4 with your draft.
January 4th, 2010 at 11:59 pm
Stay away from CODY.
The biggest reason Russell has been a bust so far is because he is lazy. He has a ton of talent, but just doesn’t work to improve himself. Now you want the Raiders to draft the player who never met a hamburger he didn’t like?
Draft someone who has done a sit-up in their lifetime.
Just one sit-up…

I have to believe Cable will get better. Not that I think he is a great coach, but considering the weight he bore early in the season (the press, Als’ strings, the high $ picks), it seemed he wrestled some game from Al. Maybe Al liked something he saw in Cable. Now if Cable can get a decent play caller, he may be all right. He did keep this dysfunctional team from truly imploding amidst some even bad play calling. Maybe Al saw that and liked that. But for all I know, maybe Als’ got the light bulb in his overhead projector warming up.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:13 am
We can draft a QB who can do 500 sit ups and doesn’t have an ounce of body fat, and he’ll get killed in our offense. Russell isn’t the problem. He’s just one more lame player that has athletic attributes but isn’t really a football player, you know, the kind Al Davis likes. He’s just on the main stage because he’s the QB. But he’s not the problem. And, if we’re not going to get a real coach or GM, where as we’ll suck anyway, I actually hope they cut Russell and keep Cable, to see if you guys will still be blaming Russell after we go 5-11 next year (or worse). It’ll be great entertainment reading the blogs, nonetheless, which is all you can hope for in a failed season.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:18 am
Way too many maybes and ifs for me, IslandRaider. Cable took a 5-11 team to 5-11, a noted woman beater, I hope Al cans him and hires someone like Kiffin. Someone who he thinks is loyal but instead just tries to run all of his minions out.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:18 am
I’ve found this blog to be great relief during a depressing season. One more thought: I know the o-line is bad, but do you think jarmacuss made it look even worse? Granted Frye got beat up the last game, but Grad seemed like he was able to run for his life. I will give credit where credits due; JR can take the beating for sure.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:20 am
I just worry about hire, fire, re-hire, re-fire, same old song and dance. That has gotten us nowhere also. I have no answers, just dumb-assed hope.
January 5th, 2010 at 12:25 am
IslandRaider, but if what you have sucks, you have to replace it. I could see this continuity argument if say, Cable improved from last year’s record by ONE WIN. Zero improvement. You fire coaches and replace them with someone better. If the next person isn’t better, you try again.
This continuity argument should have been made when Kiffin was fired. Kiffin was fired 5 games into his second season. Talk about not being given a chance. Talk about “hiring, rehiring, firing, rehiring”. Where was that argument then?
January 5th, 2010 at 12:28 am
You’re no dumb ass, btw, IslandRaider. You’re open minded and coming up with whatever solutions you can. Just wanted to say that. You’re the last person I’d call dumb.

Kind of like having to wade thru tar pits listening to dinasours fart is about the depth of intellect we get from these press releases. We want this, hope for that, know what could be right and clearly see whats wrong, but in the end, it all rests on Al. He just stays tucked away like some Oz, yeah, Oz Davis, and toys with his dwindling fan base. Meanwhile, we’re stuck picking fly shlt out of pepper while he sits back and eats crushed ice and clam chowder.
BTW RMR, I did like Kiffin in the sense that he was young and energetic, and yes, he was given no chance. Oz Davis was to impatient.

Good Morning Nation, The Only Nation.
O.K. so people want to argue that Jmac had 11 INT’s and 6 lost fumbles to 8 TD’s. O.K. now add up that number and then count how many huge plays for TD’s and or to the goal line the defense allowed, worst in the league we were gashed. So lets now get all over Russell for his turnovers. Get on him for work ethic and then it’s justified, cause like i said we were losing long before Jmac and we lost as a team everyone is at fault. Dont do like Cable and blame Jmac thats a cop out cause who will argue the point he is an easy target. All this does is buy him another season with his QB and when that fails his fall out will be getting fired and we will be the ones in here next season saying we should draft this guy and move this guy, and get this guy as coach. Cable is the 1 to blame as he is the coach, the team needs to look in the mirror and know they are part of the problem. When players give up on fellow players they are no longer welcome as teamates in my book. Why does Cable have to tell them to step up cause Jmac is in the game. 100% at all times cause Al doesnt take money from there checks when they underperform. That includes the whole team, they all sucked at 1 point or another this season. That includes Shane, Jano missed field goals, Nnamdi allowed TD’s everyone sucked at 1 point or another so they all need improvement period.

would you tolerate a guy who shows up late, a little hung over, doesn’t seem to know his job… and is the highest paid member of your crew???
January 5th, 2010 at 5:23 am
It’s not sticking up for Jmac, it’s knowing that 1 guy and 1 guy alone will not fix or make this team. We tried that with Gradkowski and what happened the O-Line collapsed and he got hurt so there you go same with Frye. So we took out who we thought the problem was and Dallas killed us with chunk plays on Defense, then the O-Line whent all stupid and couldnt block. Gradkowski was running for his life before getting hurt, and Frye was getting nailed everytime he threw the ball. I told my wife on sunday he will not finish this game. Come on people lets stop with blaming 1 guy coach Gruden never threw his players under the bus he always took blame.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:26 am
His paycheck should not be a part of the equation thewy dont sign his checks. I said blame his work ethic i’m cool with that but by the looks of it how many on this team really worked hard. I mean did Mcfadden work hard if he did wow he sucks something bad, So i’m saying if he didnt put in the work then his numbers are justified, but if the rest of the team did whats there excuse?
January 5th, 2010 at 5:26 am
yep,to put it politely….WE WAS GAHSED =)
January 5th, 2010 at 5:29 am
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
yeah… let me ask you this…
if you are a hard working, showing up on time, competent, doing your very best worker…
would you tolerate a guy who shows up late, a little hung over, doesn’t seem to know his job… and is the highest paid member of your crew???
***************************************************
Or would you tolerate a guy who wouldnt play out his position to help the team for a few games?
January 5th, 2010 at 5:33 am
The only person that needs to worry about what he is getting paid should be Al, not the players or us. His work ethic well it showed it sucked. I think an open competition next season given him another chance and i bet will beat out any QB we bring in. The truth is even if he did you all will not be satisfied you want him gone and thats it. Good thing we stuck by Nnamdi, Huff, Henderson, Janikowski, and Gallery. Oh wait we did give up on them didnt we.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:38 am
4eva thats a problem worry about what you can control cause last i checked were not perfect, so strive for perfection or as close to it as possible. I dont think we all like the job the Presidents in the past or the one we have now have done and guess what they make more then us also. Control what you can control and unless your perfect dont judge another man until you have walked in his shoes.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:45 am
A good morning to the AM crew.
January 5th, 2010 at 5:45 am
Lets say just for kicks if Jmac finished the season with the stats he has now, but we finished undefeated cause of a monster Defense. Also lets say our Defense held up against the Chargers and Jmac won that game for us, along with KC, and Denver in come back fashion. So undefeated superbowl champs first team ever Jmac mediocre but good come from behind wins. Now the offseason we let him walk cause he didnt work hard enough, and the newxt season we finish 9-7 barely missing the playoffs who would be at fault?
January 5th, 2010 at 5:50 am
Now that brings up this point do you all think you can put Peyton Manning, or Brady on the Lions, Browns, or Redskins and they will succeed with there O-Lines? Hell no they are not mobile enough and would get thrashed. So what our problem then do we get a mobile QB or do we upgrade our O-Line. Brady has Billichek without him he wouldnt be as good, Manning has his continuity with out that he wouldnt be as good with changing coaches and players year in and year out.

Neilb it’s a game for entertainment i dont take it to heart anymore like i used to. I Love the Raiders but i dont allow my life to revolve around how they play or how they perform. I dont play fantasy football cause i know i would always pick Raider players cause i refuse to bet against them. I know that no matter what win lose or tie Raider till i die but what does booing or getting angry accomplish do you think they really care especially now that they get to go home to there families and enjoy there royalties.

actually i would… and i gave you several discussions about this… here’s another analogy…
ya got a brand new framer… seems pretty good… in fact he becomes the best producer… fits into the crew… carries his weight…
now the foreman tells him he needs someone to scrap houses… cause the laborer’s aren’t coming anymore…
now as one of the senior members of the crew… i would tell him not to do it… ’cause once you do… and if you are any good at it… that will be your job…
and the salary cap on that position is very low indeed…

Neilb it’s just a “4″ no biggie i understood.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:12 am
Ref post #80…
Put it another way.How many Raiders could make other teams?….and while you’re thinking about that, how many coaches would ?
January 5th, 2010 at 6:16 am
Paul Hackett would, Cable as an O-Line coach would, Marshall would, Nnamdi, Shane, Jano, Fargas, Gallery, Seymour, Howard, pretty much our whole defense with discipline, Mcfadden would if used the right way, M-Bush would, Chaz, Murphy. The point is we have talent but we dont have an O-Line if you notice i left almost that whole group off and Cable but not as head coach.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
bush is looking out for himself because Cable sure isn’t…
cable likes under-talented, over-achievers…
the undertalented part of the equation means that Bush will never be Cable’s boy…
you will see… if Cable stays, then Bush will be under-used until free agency…
then he can go to a team that appreciates football talent…
and shortly after that, you and everyone will be wondering why oh why didn’t we have him as our main back???
January 5th, 2010 at 6:20 am
M-Bush is a bruiser being used as a cut back runner when he does play. Cable put him in the dog house when he was asking for Gilbride last season saying he like what he is doing for Jacobs and the rest of the running game. Cable is immature he blames players and is mor delusional then Russell was as far as thinking he did a great job.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:22 am
IMO Pete Bush will have to overcome his stamina issues for that to happen….Maybe he try harder somewhere else?
January 5th, 2010 at 6:23 am
Hackett,Marshall and Cable as an O-line coach…..agreed.
The players….
Both kickers,Nnamdi,Seymour,Scott, maybe Branch and Huff. From the O….Chaz,Miller and maybe Bush,Dmac and Murphy.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:23 am
Stamina is built with continuing to play as you cannot simulate game play without playing. So if Cable has him sitting guess what his stamina will be an issue.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:24 am
Who would make other teams?
On Offense, Bush (probably would start on a lot of teams), McFadden (would be back-up), Schillens as a #2 WR, Murphy, Miller(for sure), Gallery. Not much actually.
On Defense it’s a lot more:
Namdi, Branch, Huff(how he played this year he’d get a chance to play on another team), Seymore, Ellis, Morrison could probably find a team & same with Thomas Howard, Trevor Scott, Shonessey would be given a chance.
On the coaches not many would be able to catch on at another team at their same level. Probably only our QB coach & D-Coordinator.
Now, notice though the lack of DTs & O-Linemen that would be able to play on other teams. That’s what we need to FIX and FAST
January 5th, 2010 at 6:24 am
by “try harder” I mean work harder in off-season 2B in tip-top shape come the season
January 5th, 2010 at 6:24 am
And of course Lechler & SeaBass.

——————————————–
LOL!! Yeah, undertalented overachievers. Like Russell and DHB who he had starting? Or do you mean like DMAC who got more carries than Bush when healthy? They are all under-talented overachievers….HA!
January 5th, 2010 at 6:27 am
Cable’s lack of reckognizing the teams struggles is why he will be canned. He tried running on the Ravens but refused to run against the Browns. If he knows Jmac is struggling in the pocket run the ball more or get some shorter crossing routes. Just cause we have speed with our WR’s doesnt mean go deep every play. With there speed i think quicker cutting routes would suit them better. Right at the snap of the ball quick slants what DB will hang with our speed we would have so much YAC by running these plays. And power block for goodness sakes it’s so much easier pre snap knowing what man you got.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:28 am
Actually….on second thought Florida Pete, you might be right. If he was just playing them to keep Al happy, he does seem to like the “give it their all” players. He does give Fargas WAY more than he deserves with his level of play. But other than that I don’t know an exception of who he played that was a overachiever that wasn’t the best person out there.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:30 am
You cannot simulate actual gameplay unless you play. I jog everyday but when i play football with friends i’m so much more sore beacause it’s a different style of running. So Bush needs gametime.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:30 am
Russell is the QB. The QB has to be the leader and the hardest worker.
That comes with the position. The QB gets paid the most, gets the most fanfare, gets the pretty girls in school and so on and so on.
Jamarcus likes all the sizzle with the QB position, but isn’t willing to do the REQUIRED work and embrace the leadership position.
So he most go. It will never work and his teammates don’t respect him.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:32 am
Rout or Eugene come off the bench and they really running around and you dont see them asking for a breather.I just cant get behind a guy that wont help the team and change positions for a couple of games. If he was an explosive bull like Earl Campbell then I could understand his position. But even after all that bullsh!t,no matter which side of the fence you are on when it comes to Bush….For him to be a professional football RB and ask for a breather when you have been rested all year means you DONT respect the game and do what it personally takes TO PLAY IT.Hmmm sounds like….
January 5th, 2010 at 6:33 am
This is a team of underachievers that includes Nnamdi. He needs to step up and take the leader role as one of the longest tenured Raiders. We lack fire, i mean at least last season the Turd Sands socked Shane on a plane, ok wrong guy to sock but the spirit was there.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:33 am
r8dr4lfe21,
On Russell’s fumble Sunday, HE admitted he was trying to dump it off to the RB. Only problem is that it took him 5 seconds to process that, and he only had 4 seconds.
It wasn’t Cable telling everyone to go deep, he had a checkdown that he wanted to throw too. He had 4 seconds to pass the ball AGAINST THE BALTIMORE RAVENS!!! You got to get rid of the ball.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:35 am
You cant compare a DB to a running back that gets hit everyplay he is in, and Routt or Eugene OMG Eugene LMFAO what good is conditioning if you get manhandled lol. Russell’s teamates have no room to not respect him as they are to blame themselves a bunch of underachievers.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:38 am
I seen the play and he couldnt just dump it off as Green allowed his guy to get to deep in the backfield and would have batted it down. Russell had to wait for it to clear and it never did. No excuses his work ethic sucks but as a player he is no worse then Morrison, Eugene, Green or any other player that works harder then him and still sucks.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:38 am
4eva… you like fargas and dhb… i don’t…
i like bush… you don’t…
but i respect you as a raider fan through and through…
we’ll have to leave it at that…
January 5th, 2010 at 6:39 am
No room not to respect him??? WTF
You have to EARN respect, you just don’t get it. You telling me that Russell earned his teammates respect?
Blowing off the last day of OTA’s, unable to practice during a game week due to getting tattoos on his throwing hand, blowing off the first day of the offseason, being the worst QB in the league, showing up to camp “a little heavy” and not knowing the playbook.
How does that earn you respect?
January 5th, 2010 at 6:41 am
Wow so the play was every one go deep you stay short and he will pass you the ball and you run fast. Sounds like kiddie stuff even more reason to fire Cable for lackluster playcalling. I know thats all Russell can comprehend right o.k. but still wow. Who cares if it’s the Ravens we need the mentality that we dont give a rat’s ass who we play we will dominate and run our plays let them adjust to us. Our team on the O-Line is just not good period.

“trying their best” should have been the phrase i used…
undertalented, but trying their best… those are the players Cable likes…
maybe because it describes Cable, himself…
January 5th, 2010 at 6:43 am
Good Morning
Vegas.
We agree on JR but perhaps for slightly different reasons.
No NFL team can pay a guy the amount JR gets with so little production.
If he/agent will not accept a large pay cut he will go.
The thing Cable has done is play guys who produce regardless of the “scholarship” perception.
We are much further along regarding accountability than we have been since the Gruden years.
I believe Cable and his staff stay despite what the media is saying.
We did not mail in the last game like the Giants. Cable is doing as much as he can with what we have.
If we focus on the Oline and keep Grad upright we will be very competitive next year.

True but why make it out to sound like we cant run our gameplan just cause it’s the Ravens. That is Cables weakness running the ball against the Ravens knowing there DB’s suck, but throwing against the Browns knowing there run D sucks.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:49 am
This team as a whole has no right to blame anyone until they can look in the mirror and know that they played mistake free and didnt miss assignments. Russell has work ethic problems o.k. i get it but what is the teams excuse for there lackluster play and missed assignments?
January 5th, 2010 at 6:49 am
– Cable conceded he may have spread himself too thin and sounded open to delegating some duties _ including play-calling _ if postseason analysis proves that would be the right path.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Go back and look at the archives, I bet several of you guys were screaming cable should not be calling plays.
Took him the end of the year to figure this out?????
Cable is a brain dead, he should have been fired first game…..
I would bet even money that some guys on this blog can play call a better game than cable….
Hire a GM
Mr. Davis retire
GM cleans house and structures the org, he will have to hire whole depatments, to replace Mr. Davis

Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a French journalist, an animal rights activist.
The discussion came around to deer hunting.
The journalist asked, ‘What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, ‘Are you my friend?’ or is it ‘Are you the one who killed my brother?
Nugent replied, ‘Deer aren’t capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, what am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.’
The interview ended.

Guys.
You can not even compare Madden to what goes on today.
The QB called the plays under Madden.
Madden ran the “pure vanilla” offense everyone thinks is indicative of a “brain dead” coach.
The difference is Madden had Hall of Fame LINE talent.
Cable does not.
January 5th, 2010 at 6:56 am

Thec07 did you get happy when DHB scored his TD or did that also piss you off?

I don’t agree with the list of who’s stock went down this year. Bruce Gradkowski’s stock DEFINITELY went up with his play. Also, I think that Robert Gallery’s stock went up. Just look at what happened when he was out of the line up compared to in it.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
you are absolutely correct in Grads stock going up… error on my part…
as for Gallery… stock is down because of seperate injuries keeping him out much of the year… had he been a free agent after last season he would have commanded much more money than this year…
injuries can effect a player’s stock…
January 5th, 2010 at 7:20 am
any other suggested “stock” changes…

January 5th, 2010 at 7:23 am
Thec,
Not quite sure what you’re talking about. DHB was brought here to clear out areas for other recievers and run block. Didn’t you hear him talking about how well he graded out?
I don’t know why you guys don’t understand it is the coach and his scheme from top to bottom.
January 5th, 2010 at 7:23 am
You know whats funny is guys on this blog have a better clue than the actual guys running the raiders org…….Why is that????

Ellis = One of the few standup guys on this team….
January 5th, 2010 at 7:28 am
Thec07 would you have drafted Randy Moss sooner then he was picked. I dont think so the draft is a crap shoot in the 1st round you win some you lose some. What was Randy picked number 17 i think well considering that draft what player would you have chosen before Moss? Not many.
January 5th, 2010 at 7:30 am
Ellis will make a great coach 1 day, i also think we should put some money aside cause when Peyton Manning retires we need him to be our coach or cordinator that would be awesome.

Hey people…long time no see, so we still suck uh?.
If we’re firing Cable I’d like to hire Cam Cameron as HC.
Yes, 1-15 in his lone season as Miami HC Cam Cameron, that guy can run an offense, he did wonders for Joe Flacco and knows to use a couple of good backs…see Rice and Mcgahee.
See you guys later, happy new year to everyone.

January 5th, 2010 at 7:34 am
Pete,
In my opinion Greg Ellis, Charlie Frye, Brandon Myers, Mario Henderson, Gary Russell and Chaz Schilens had their stock rise at least a bit.
Sam Williams, David Nixon, Slade Norris, William Joseph, and Johnathan Holland slipped.
January 5th, 2010 at 7:35 am
Has Russell retired yet?
For those of you that are saying Cable threw him under the bus, he’s not the only one. See comments by Gallery, Grads, Frye, Miller, Chaz, etc…
Cable hasn’t been a HC since a minor college stint a decade ago. Maybe he was HC material at the time he was hired but He sure has improved since he began his tenure last Oct.
Keep Cable as HC, Hire a proven OC, improve both lines and bring in a vet QB to compete with Grads & Losman.
January 5th, 2010 at 7:35 am
I meant maybe he WASN’T HC material
January 5th, 2010 at 7:39 am
4eva, I have been preaching gold, and sliver since around 1998…. Most “money manager” have no clue about what is going on, they will be towing the stock market company line.
Going to let you in on a secret Bruh, true wealth comes from the earth….
Track gold since 98, also look at projections on where metals are headed. buying gold at 1k an oz is cheap based on projections…
Our currency is fiat paper, nothing more, it is strategically being dumped as the currency for doing trade.

I just didn’t see much evidence of that this year. It seemed like we ran the same basic plays all year. I didn’t see ANY creativity with the offense or running game. Motioning McFadden out of the backfield to a WR spot was about as good as it got.
Very vanilla, even with the QB changes.
I will say that I don’t know who was doing what. Maybe Tollner and Hackett didn’t have any say in the game plan and play calling.

I think Cable took on more than he could chew (I know funny picture).
What’s your biggest objection to Cable? I think he finally got free reign and started playing who he wanted to play. Probably would’ve have had the balls to sit DHB before he got hurt, but I think towards the end he would have even if he was back.
So, get in an O-Coordinator and the biggest objections are handled. Offensive player utilization and play calling. Plus, with more attention on being a HC instead of trying to do everything he can only do better.

this IS his O-line…
maybe he should go back to Atlanta and find his running game… ’cause he sure hasn’t produced one here…

o-line injuries mostly happen on passing plays… pass too often and you start having o-line problems…
January 5th, 2010 at 8:12 am
Al is a players owner. He knows the locker room hates Jamarcus. The WRs blame him for their bad numbers, the coaches blame him for the pathetic season, the O-line hates to fella, I’m sure the D would rather have somebody else at QB…The kid is slow, and the NFL is not where slow QBs thrive.
January 5th, 2010 at 8:13 am

January 5th, 2010 at 8:15 am
Cheese and rice, I thought I was banned for life. Been reading steadily though this season and here is my observation finally.
Keep Cable, he is the right coach at this time but he does need a O-cord. The only thing that is better at this time would be Gruden and that’s not happening.
But, we all know all has got to fire him, he has no choice because Al thinks he has to do something to put butts in the seats and really money is the only thing Al cares about now.

January 5th, 2010 at 8:27 am
Vegas,
I think this year was really good for Russell. Can you imagine if Chaz, Miller, and Gallery were not hurt and we actaully won with Russell this year? Dude would be out of control.
There is no doubt in my mind that a healthy Raiders team wins on opening night. That would have been Chaz catching that TD at half. You see how many times Russell targeted Chaz last week? It wouldn’t have just been the Zack Miller show like Cable referenced.
I just think it would have been a lot different with Chaz and Miller in there. Russell just simply REFUSED to look DHBs way. Call it locking on to one WR, or not knowing the playbook if you want to, but it was where ever DHB is, I’m looking the other way.
Look at Grads first start against Cincy, lol DHB is targeted 10 times. Grads forced the ball to him and almost had 3 picks for it. It was a ridiculous game plan to me. That’s why I don’t really care about the off the field stuff so much. I know I should, but to me there is SO MUCH blame to go around that I just can’t focus on #2 alone.

January 5th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Jhill,
You definately can’t focus on #2 alone. You can put Peyton Manning on this team, and without stopping the run, things would still be pretty tough.
I do think a QB can raise everyone’s play around him. Not all of them, and not all the time. But a leader can get guys to play above their level at times, and in all sports. Al is a moron, chemistry is very important in the modern age of sports.
DHB was a disaster, plain and simple. I have higher hopes for him than Russell and maybe even Darren, but that isn’t saying a whole lot.
The team just had a little more pep when Bruce played and it was so noticeable he pulled me in. Even though there wasn’t that many more points scored, there was more and the offenses seemed to be getting better. For once it seemed like we were actually building on something.
I swear if Al dumps Cable and talks up Jamarcus for the next minion Coach, I am going KoolKell. Cut and pasting, blaming Al for EVERYTHING. It will be my last straw.

Vegas,
I was never under the dellusion that Russell was this great QB that Davis pumped up. This leader of men thing and all that? Never expected it. So what he was drafted #1 overall? I didn’t want him, but it is what it is.
I expect Cable or any other coach to recognize the teams stregnths and weaknesses and game plan accordingly. Davis meddles with the defense, not the offense. When did Cable and company decide that this offense was better off throwing the hell out of the ball? The guy Davis compares Russell to never did that. Elway had a running game first and foremost when he was successful.
With Russell at QB, we should have been a team that runs the ball 40 times a game and passed off of PA. Screens, short dump offs and the likes. Win or lose, that should have been our identity. I realize that our D was pretty shaky in games like NY and we were down a quick 14 pts before we got off the bus, but still, our identity should be that of a running team. Just like Cincy pounds Benson 30 times a game with the great Carson Palmer and his crew of WRs.

another thing with Grads is time of possession….when he played we won that battle too, moving those chains…..If we can stop the run, plus Grads coming into his own, well we be very tough just like that =)

January 5th, 2010 at 9:07 am
We should have run the ball more, but it’s not like we were throwing the ball a ton. Did Russell ever even attempt 30 passes in a game? Even with all that losing and playing from behind, I think he usually threw 18-24 passes a game. I will go get some stats.
But the gameplan in the Eagles game was rarely seen again, and we had Fargas that game. Where were those dumpoffs to Gary Russell all year?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:13 am
Only 6 teams threw less passes a game than us and 10 teams ran fewer running plays than us.
Tough to gauge those stats because our offense was so awful. But definately should have been one of the bottom 1 or 2 in passing attempts a game. The Bengals threw less passes than us this year. WOW, never would have thought that.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:17 am

Well like you stated B4 Vegas,Bengals have C.Benson to run wild =)
January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 am
Vegas,
Restricted is for guys like Seymour, Bruce, Jano. Players we drafted can’t become FAs untill they played 6 years for the team.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 am
well, we missed out on a few players who could have competed here this offseason…
Dexter Jackson, WR (Car)
Terrance Taylor, DT (Det)
Blake Schlueter, C (Atl)
but we got WR Shaun Bodiford, woohoo!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:26 am
Let Kirk go…word in Chitown is Bears will listen to Lance Briggs offers. Howard will only improve with a real MLB next to him.
Also, do whatever it takes to get Rathman back in the fold. Make him asst. head coach or OC even. Tollner/Hackett and our young WRs are sufficient to continue growing the passing game once the walrus hits the street (BSJ prays on bended knee).
January 5th, 2010 at 9:27 am
Vegas,
We can also use multiple franchise tags.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:28 am
O,
I think you are right O, different rules for the teams that drafted the players. These players are going to want a new deal, this uncapped year is not good in this economy.
2011 lockout looks likely. They will get something done, but I wouldn’t be suprised if it delays camps or shortens the season or something like the last strike did.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:28 am
Anybody want:
Jim Zorn
Dick Jauron
Perry Fewell
Bobby April
Bill Sheridan
???
not as HC, but on the staff in some capacity.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:29 am
We’re thin at the CB position and Routt’s a free agent. Should we resign him? I say we let him go if they plan on using him at the nickel. Would like to see him more on the outside. I think he did a farely decent job when he wasn’t in the slot.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:30 am
I think it would be good if they shorten the season 4 or 5 games, this way we wont have our 8th consecutive 10+ loss season. team of the decades baby!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:32 am
lol
January 5th, 2010 at 9:33 am
I’ll take Bobby April. He has never had 2 kickers like we have.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:34 am
Routt must play in 40% of the defensive snaps, yet he must be our most penalized defensive player. He must have some kind of plays per penalty record. Get him and Cornell Green outtahere!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:34 am
do whatever it takes to get Rathman back in the fold. Make him asst. head coach or OC even.
***
I agree. Kelly Skipper & Sanjay Lal can both leave as far as i’m concerned. Randy Hanson also must go if Cable stays.
Rathman for RB coach/Asst HC or name him Off. Coordinator!
keep Tollner, Hackett & Marshall though. gotta have some grumpy old men to whip these punk kids into shape
January 5th, 2010 at 9:36 am
I would worry about Rathman as OC. Seems like the type of guy who would love Justin Fargas.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:36 am
Hire a GM first….
If not go get Martz as your OCO…
Martz would know what to do with DMAC MBUSH….
Murphy is BADASS, and should be starting, He is the best WR on the raiders period…
January 5th, 2010 at 9:36 am
Vegas,
Roger Goodell will not allow anything to stop or even slow down this huge business. He doesn’t always have Football’s best interest in mind, but be cares a lot about profits. That’s just my opinion.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:37 am
Martz as HC….
January 5th, 2010 at 9:38 am
Cable should be demoted to janitor…
January 5th, 2010 at 9:39 am
forget about Routt, Bowie, Eugene & Holland.
I’ll take Mike McKenzie, Chris McAlister, Jerome Boyd (ST only) & Rashad Baker over those clowns.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 am
I would worry about Rathman as OC. Seems like the type of guy who would love Justin Fargas.
***
Rathman convinced big Al to draft McFadden, remember?
I can see what you mean though, Rathman being a hard nosed blue-collar guy & Fargas being a crash test dummy with all heart & no skill
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 am
If we are making wishlists for the HC, I’d love some crazy neurotic dude ala Singleterry showing the troops his fruits or Mike Gundy going “Im a man, Im forty…” I think the loosing would go down easier with that kind of a side show…
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 am
what are teams doing this year, they hire a GM first…
Then they go get the coach. what are the raiders doing???????
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 am
false start # 74 offense. 5 yard penalty repeat 1st down
January 5th, 2010 at 9:43 am
Cleveland, buffalo, and washington all hired new GM’s before they hired coaches. Lets see how it turns out for them……
what GM’s are the raiders talking with???
Oh I forgot we allready have a GM…Nevermind….
January 5th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Rcokstar,
And I am sure Rathman wouldn’t have liked Bush’s refusal to play a little FB.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Martz would know what to do with DMAC MBUSH….
***
Martz got ran out of St Louis & San Fran because of Steven Jackson & Frank Gore!
the best offensive player on each team got very little touches while he dialed up a pass happy offense with garbage at QB & WR …
our 3 headed monster would be of no use with Martz at the helm unless you’re looking for DMC to be more of a receiving option threat ala Reggie Bush. Bush would be worthless, might as well trade him if Martz is the guy.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:46 am
Harbaugh for HC
Weiss for OC
Keep Marshall
fire special teams coach, WR’s coach, and LB’s coach
January 5th, 2010 at 9:48 am
I don’t think Rathman would settle for Lawton, G. Russell or Reece at FB!
what would this team have looked like with Garcia & Neal on the 53 man roster and Walker given a shot to play WR (not in the doghouse) ???
it’s clear we had ZERO vet leadership on offense
January 5th, 2010 at 9:50 am
Then draft Clausen if he’s available in later rounds. (He just had surgery)
January 5th, 2010 at 9:51 am
With Russell starting, the Raiders ranked 31st in the NFL in total offense, passing offense and scoring offense. With Gradkowski or Frye starting, they ranked 18th in passing, 19th in total offense and 27th in scoring, according to Stats LLC.
They averaged exactly 100 more yards a game with a 50 percent scoring increase.

wonder why Martindale did such a great job under Mike Nolan and not Rob Ryan?

But until we make a change at the top we are looking at 8, 9 10 seasons of futility…..
January 5th, 2010 at 10:08 am
DMAC, what do you think about BRL???
January 5th, 2010 at 10:09 am
356 rush attempts this season by Fargas, McFadden & Bush.
483 pass attempts this season by Russell, Gradkowski & Frye.
I think a lot of the 125+ more pass attempts were due to these stats …
26th in total defense and 29th in run defense.
The Raiders were outscored by 182 points in 16 games, meaning they on average were outscored by 11.4 points per game.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:09 am
At least you didn’t purchase Russell jerseys. My jersey still has some value though.

Martz will wind up somewhere possible buffalo, and out coach cable, and what ever oco you couple him with….money on it…..
***
Thec: I don’t understand your love affair with Mike Martz. Dude wasn’t good enough for the Rams, Lions or 49ers and he still isn’t. even Al interviewed him and passed. 49ers chose Singletary over him when they canned Nolan. Singletary wanted a run-first, tough defense football team, which is everything Martz isn’t.
Martz was out of football this year, even as a OC and he applied for jobs. Wasn’t like he had the luxury of pick & choose like Shanahan or Cowher
January 5th, 2010 at 10:19 am
HE HAS GOT TO GO NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 5th, 2010 at 10:20 am
Included was Randy Hanson and Jawgate, an ESPN story alleging he had a history of violence toward women, an underperforming multi-million-dollar quarterback and so many one-sided losses the Raiders finished with the second biggest negative point differential in franchise history.
The Raiders were outscored by 182 points in 16 games, meaning they on average were outscored by 11.4 points per game. The 1961 pre-Al Davis Raiders were outscored by 15.8 points per game, finishing 2-12.
The Raiders were 31st in scoring (scoring less than 200 points for the second time in franchise history), 31st in offense, 23rd in scoring defense, 26th in total defense and 29th in run defense.
None of which matters a whit to Cable, who looks at the last seven games of the season and sees something special in the offing.

You really want continuity of THIS? FIRE CABLE NOW!

Demote Cable to Oline coach and body guard for AD.

according to an article by Cam Inman in today’s Oakland Tribune – an article advocating the dumping of a certain dead weight QB – there were only two Raiders who would even talk with Russell by the end of the season. Louis Murphy and Gerard Warren.

murphy certainly progressed nicely in the 2nd half. his drops were certainly down. i said it yesterday man, a HEALTHY chaz, and murphy with zmill, we could have an explosive offense if we clean up our dline and get avg qb play

January 5th, 2010 at 12:36 pm
Well, if Branch really dropped passes early in his career, then I guess there’s a similarity. But that means every single young receiver in the league who drops balls can be the next Cliff Branch, too. Then again, they can also be busts. The latter is much more likely. But there’s nothing wrong with resting on a long shot. I mean, the Raiders have been so good in recent years, we can afford to take some chances, can’t we?

Branch started 1 game until he took over in year 3.
DHB had the job handed to him immediately.
We didn’t see much of Branch until then.

12:38 [Comment From vegas raider: ]
Jerry, Cable and the Raiders seemed to abruptly make a 180 turn on Jamarcus halfway through the season. They way Cable spoke of Russell switched from positive to negative, seemingly overnight. With Bruce having been given more reps during the bye week before the KC game, and replacing Russell at halftime even though Russell had, by his standards, a pretty good half, due you think this was caused by any “big event” that really caused the sudden change of heart, or was it more of a gradual thing?
Tuesday January 5, 2010 12:38 vegas raider
12:39 jerrymac: That’s a great question, and I’ve hard a few rumors that wouldn’t be responsible to pass along, but I will say that my understanding is that Davis got an idea of just how little Russell was preparing and taking things seriously and was more than receptive to Cable’s wish to bench him.

Did Bush really average 4.8 yards a carry this year? Unbelievable. And we ran him, what, on average, 15 times a game? Bye, Cable.
———————————————-
He was given the ball less than 10 times per game on average. That’s the joke.
=================
Some of it may be our offense ran fewer plays then other teams, some of its to reward and set an example with Fargas on how to run hard every play, some of its Bush’s penchant to lose the handle onthe ball and some of it may be Bush’s attitude.
Speculative of course. Can’t see it as a vendetta against him or anything. I think ALOT of guys on offense were miscast and mis or under used.
Crazy and something I pray gets fixed next year

I wonder if Al made Madden pay for his suite on Sunday? Or was he in Al’s suite?
Guess I should hava asked Jerry.
**********************
My guess is that Madden’s net worth right now is much greater than Davis’. What’s the old saying about mixing friendship & financials? It never works out. I pretty sure Madden could easily afford to buy ALL the luxury boxes and not even notice a bump to his checking account. This is also why Madden is not involved with the team in a management position. He’s knows he’d have to fire Davis or at a minimum relieve him of all operational actions and that no doubt would damage their friendship. Madden is thankful to Davis for giving him his shot. And, it has paid off handsomely for Madden. He’s not about to screw-up a good thing.
January 5th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
There’s no excuse for a head coach with a struggling offense letting the season end with a running back averaging over 4 years a carry and only getting the ball less than 10 times per game. No excuse. When you’ve got somewhat of a running game, you use it. You do anything to generate offense. Cable has to go.

After the Bye Week he really started picking up his production in Yards Per Carry. He averaged 5.98ypc after the bye. In 4 of the games he got 10 carries or more. In only 1 game did he get 15 or more carries (and that game he ran for 133 yards).
The other 4 games COMBINED after the bye he got 8 carries).

Wow! Davis, do you really need any more to convince you to finally get rid of this fat tub of $h1t!
January 5th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
In Fact, the 2 games Michael Bush for 14 or more carries (yes, he only got 14 or more carries in 2 games) he averaged 8.5 yards per carry and then 7.4 yards per carry running for over 100 yards in both games.

THINGS THAT SHOULD GO BANG IN THE NIGHT:
(In NO particular order)
• JaBustus
• The ZBS
• 60% of the starting O-line
• 100% of the back-up O-line
• WR Asst. Coach
• LB Asst. Coach
• D-line Coach
• O-line Coach
• RB Asst. Coach
• Head Coach
• Al Davis’ Inner Circle Group
• All AD Scholarship players
• NFL “Blackout Rule”
• Pro Bowl “Before” Super Bowl scheduling
This list would be good for a start.

0 carries against the skins that had a boat load of defenders injured, including Haynesworth!
He will be replaced as OC but not HC, imo.

He had to get a leg up, the AVN awards are in town this weekend. Time for Jamarcus to bang some porn stars.
Priorities!!
January 5th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Here’s a question to ponder.
What will it take for JaMarcus to return as starter?
Telling him to report in at a certain weight doesn’t guarantee anything. Otherwise Valerie Bertinelli would be starting.
Would it take one solid pre-season game or practice?
Or does he have to show up at the film room at 06:30?
Tough to say.
IMO, I think AL will make it easy for him to get another chance at starting. ie showing up at his combine weight, +or- 10 lbs.
I don’t think Al would dump him before JaMarcus gets another shot at the starting job next year.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Tom Cable = Worst Raider coach ever. Bugel was saddled with a horrible defense. Shell didn’t have a running back in ‘06 producing like Bush. I’m all ears, guys. Name a worse Raider coach than Tom Cable. You won’t. A running back, healthy at that, averaging 4/carry and getting less than 10 carries per game. Un f’n heard of! Cable could be the worst coach in the history of the NFL.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
If JR partying in Vegas isn’t the last straw, I’m not sure what is.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:06 pm
Hahahahahahah Russell out partying in Vegas last night huh? Missed final team meeting of the year. Yep and Al may just let him back because he is a great player so get over it lol. This is a damn joke
January 5th, 2010 at 2:07 pm
Yeh, Carl, get a new OC and keep Cable on as HC. Tell me, what would Cable’s duties be, then? To motivate the team? To instill discipline? Yeh, he’s really demonstrated he could do that thus far, hasn’t he? This team is the same cast of clowns that have taken the field every year since ‘03, with different names and faces.

January 5th, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Takes a 5-11 team to 5-11. Has a running back that averages 4 years per carry getting the ball less than 10 times per game. A noted woman beater. Punches an assistant, causing a huge distraction just before the start of the season, when the team needs to be focused. This might honestly be the worst coach in the history of the NFL.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
Jamarcus Russell= Gucci Mane feat Plies
“I dont wear tight jeans like the whites boyssssssssss, but I do get wasted like the white boyssssssssssssssssss”
January 5th, 2010 at 2:11 pm
JaMarcus Russell finished the season with a passer rating of 50.0, the lowest for any qualifying NFL quarterback since 1998.
In 1998 this feat was accomplished by none other than Ryan Leaf.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:12 pm
Worst coach ever=Rod Martinelli….he went 0-16…..next

January 5th, 2010 at 2:13 pm

January 5th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
B,
I’ve heard stories these days too. But you were on it from the jump.
I bought into the last 2 games last year, and even got his jersey, LOL.
I don’t know who tried harder to get fired Kiffin or Jamarcus.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
I think Art Shell is without a doubt a worse coach. Period. I remember him trying to be an “enforcer” and just stirring the $hit without getting any movement at all.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
At least Kiffin kept coaching when he was trying to get fired…..
January 5th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
I honestly don’t think Cable’s better than Marinelli. Put Tom Cable in as HC of that Lions team and he’s 0-16, too. At least Marinelli ran Smith more than 10 times per game.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
VR I was right from the jump becuz I go out in the nightlife right where all these guys are at. I know their suppliers, who sells them cars, who has done their security and even know the broads they bang. I live in the area and these streets talk and everyone knew it. Its a damn shame people had the nerve to doubt my claims
January 5th, 2010 at 2:17 pm
Marinelli went 0-16 in the modern era of football sorry MR your agenda is more important than stating the actual facts
January 5th, 2010 at 2:17 pm
Maverick, Shell had worse personnel than Cable. All Cable had to do was run the football this year and we would have won 8 games, an improvement that would have been a huge motivation factor going into next year. Shell had a horrible squad.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:17 pm
The Raiders – One of the few NFL teams that can field a squad in Las Vegas. Too bad they can’t field a squad on gameday.

Trying to get a no-partying clause in his contract would be pretty difficult.
If he’s partying like you say, then it should only be a matter of time before he pulls a “Plax” and gives the team legal justification to can him.
