ESPN: Cable stays

Haven’t seen an actual story as yet, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on his Twitter account that the Tom Cable will remain the Raiders coach in 2010.

(UPDATE: A link to the ESPN story is here.)

It also said the Raiders said no decision is final.

Nothing yet from the Raiders . . .

I got a picture of me and a buddy standing outside the entrance to the RCA dome holding up a skull and crossbones flag, while Colts fans are jeering us as they walk by. Some fans were talking shyt during the game. “Raiders suck dude”. I diffused the situation pretty well. I said, look Raiders and Colts got one thing in common. We both hate the Patriots. I said we got tuck ruled, you guys got mugged last year in the playoffs. They were like “yea, F them patriots”.

  • Norco Bob

Brian you watching the games tomorrow with grampa?..or party buds?

  • ColoradoRaiderFan

Anyone catch the Shrine game today? Saw some of the first half. No talent. I pray we don’t draft anyone who played in that game. DeLaSalle HS would have pounded both teams.

  • Norco Bob

Buckeye you should have given the biggest mouth there the randy hanson treatment.

  • The Return of Godliness

Raiders fked themselves in the Tuck game! That was god getting us back for signing Fairy Rice and Charlene Garbager in 2001

  • The Return of Godliness

Naw bob i may just watch it at the house or may hit up the bar. dont know and really dont care about the games

  • Norco Bob

Dang brian, you and dave wont let that rice deal go,..dave still fumin he wore silver and black. lol

  • Seymour Bush

Keeping Tom Cable is a very good decision on a lot of levels. Tom Coughlin was just about to get run out of NY but they kept him one more year and he won a Super Bowl. Cinncy fan wanted Marvin Lewis out, but he took them to the playoffs last year. We have been churning and churning coaching staffs and obviously all that has done is set the franchise back. A little stability can only do one thing: help.

  • The Return of Godliness

Bob i will never let it go. It was embarrassing and anyone who wore a Rice jersey deserves to be killed

  • The Return of Godliness

Cable and his ZBS can go to hell

  • The Return of Godliness

Bob what happened against NE and TB in back to back years was justice. I’m personally happy to never have won a title with Fairy Rice out there! A smile was worn on my face the entire week

  • Norco Bob

You and dave were the only ones never to applaud or cheerr for rice,…I remember ice scoring a td, monday night vs denver,..house goin nuts, you and dave looking like you about to vomit. was hilarious.

  • The Return of Godliness

Notice Dave and I said we were never winning a title with Rice and only bad will come of it………….we were right! Fuk 2001 and 2002 seasons.

  • Norco Bob

ya,..even these days dave talks about “the curse” lol…hes all hungover today, was at some bar in oakland last night to see his buddys band….tony larussa was there.

  • The Return of Godliness

hahahahaha damn i havent got a hangover in a good while………i think i have an alcohol problem…….there aint enuff

I wish the Raiders would move back to LA. At least they might get some support, and Al would make more money that he could spend on the team.

All LA has to do is guarantee to build a new stadium or upgrade the Coliseum and Al could do it.

The Los Angeles Raiders were a good team when they were there. Won a Super Bowl and made it to the AFC Championship one year and the fans in LA were hardcore and really embraced the team.

Why does the 2nd largest city in the country without a a pro football team when they used to have two of them?

I have good memories of the LA Raiders. It has a bad azz ring to it and they didn’t suck, and weren’t a laughingstock.

  • Norco Bob

L.A.?…I wish Bin Laden would get his buddy in Iran to drop a couple hundred nuclear warheads on L.A. Punk.

O-line is pathetic. It was last year and especially in 2006. If the O-line had been fixed we would have never need to draft Russell. Behind a solid o-line Andrew Walter would have developed as a QB and ran the team as planned.

When did Cable take over o-line— 2007? It seems like he did and the improvements he made there from that miserable 2006 oline in the first year, is what has vaulted him to the status of play calling head coach when Lance left. I don’t get it.
    ————————————————

what made cable the play caller is a lack of trust in the coaching staff that kiffen left behind…..i agree with cable on that part….fail or succeed on your own work rather than having some guy stab you in the back….but once he was named full time coach he should have hired an OC

  • djohnnyg

    SATAN,

    You are a funny dude.

I was wondering the same thing. What the he!! IS going on there? This is starting to tick me off.

  • djohnnyg

    Norco,

I take it you’re not a big fan of LA.

Wouldn’t one or two nuclear bombs suffice?

  • oo00tt00oo

FEB 2 is committment day at stanford and is the start of superbowl media week…..if davis pulls the trigger on harbaugh it will be that week

for what its worth im not sure why folks are excited about hue jackson…i guess it would be nice to get a new face for OC…but why not get the guy who had one of the best O performances in nfl history….

harbaugh and trestman worked together on the same raider staff….thats the pair im most interested in….bring in jackson for WRs…that would have to be an upgrade… right!!!

Shut the fuk up about LA. Not going to happen. That isnt the Raiders home and the LA crowd was weak and fake. Eric Dickerson played for Rams and Raiders and said LA doesnt deserve a team

  • Stabler76

    oo00tt00oo — I’ll buy that explanation.

How and I argue with someone called —oo00tt00oo.

I am still sick of the play calling and ZBS.

have any of u ever met someone from wyoming ?

  • oo00tt00oo

the only reason the raiders would not go back to LA is if the investment group buildig the stadium wants control of the franchise….

they said they wanted two teams in the stadium and they want control of one of them…if two teams go it will have to be and afc team and a nfc team….assuming raiders are the afc team thats not controlled by the investment group that would mean they need to find an nfc team for sale

that would leave out the others mentioned…jags, bills, bolts

you know davis wants it…its everything he was after..no politians… and close to home

i dont care what blocking system we run but we cant change it every two years…none of the parts fit together and have to start all over…same with the rest of the team for that matter…its all just a mish-mash of bodies…no organizational plan

you do know the stadium in LA is under construction..right…and the raiders are one of.. i think.. 6 teams the investment group is targeting

  • oo00tt00oo

    http://www.losangelesfootballstadium.com/
Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams it will try to relocate.

Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken said the company is still considering at least seven franchises for a new stadium some 25 miles east of Los Angeles.

They also include the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.

  • Zymurge

For those blaming Cable and the ZBS for lack of production, just how much do you know about the ZBS anyway? I knew only the basics, so I looked up info online and found this great breakdown: http://www.rockytoptalk.com/2009/3/31/815874/zone-blocking-tutorial-inside-zone

One thing that it calls out is that the ZBS requires a certain type of RB. Fact is, none of the 3 Raiders RBs are a great fit, but Fargas is probably the best. That would explain why Cable uses him as the starter. That, and he’s also the best pass blocker. They key is that the RB must be decisive, make one quick read, and then plow towards that decision whether the hole is there at the time they commit or not. DMac lacks the cutback ability and Bush so far is too hesitant and won’t commit himself into traffic.

NFL teams that exclusively run the ZBS are Oakland, Washington, Green Bay, Carolina and Houston. How did some of the non-Raiders offenses with the ZBS do?

    Houston: #6 passing, #30 rushing, #6 overall
Green Bay: #5 passing, #11 rushing, #9 overall
    Carolina: #2 rushing, #17t rushing, #18 overall
    Washington: #12 passing, #29 rushing, #19 overall

    * all ranks based on average per play, not total yards, to give a better feel for effectiveness of system

BTW — the much maligned Raiders rushing game was #19 overall in yards per attempt, which is just under average. Not bad for a team that had a so-called horrible run blocking scheme, no passing threat for more than half the season, horrendous play calling and an offensive line that most here think needs at least 2 if not 3 of the players replaced.

Maybe, just maybe, the ZBS is the only reason that they were as successful as they were.

  • djohnnyg

I didn’t know about the new stadium. I live in the midwest.

Thanks for the info thought. Interesting.

As far as what is the Raiders true home, it doesn’t appear that when the Raiders get 30,000 fans for a football game AT THEIR HOME, that they are getting all this support, so chill out on the pompass “OAKLAND IS THE RAIDERS HOME’ crap.

  • djohnnyg

I realize they are called the ‘OAKLAND’ Raiders, and I feel for the true fans there, but let’s face it, everybody’s bailing on ‘em cuz they are losing. And to be honest, the Raiders don’t deserve sell outs with the way things have been run of late.

I guess the answer is, the Raiders start WINNING andeverything is fine. Now there’s a concept.
