Rex could have been a Raider
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, January 24th, 2010 at 11:44 am in Oakland Raiders.
If the Jets take out the Colts and Peyton Manning over the next few hours, get ready for a solid two weeks of Rex Ryan mania.
It’s worth remembering that when the Bill Callahan regime was ushered out following the 2003 season in favor of (eventually) Norv Turner, the first candidate for defensive coordinator was Rex Ryan, then the linebackers coach of the Ravens.
Baltimore, however, declined permission because Ryan was under contract, as was their right. So instead, the Raiders turned to Rex’s twin brother Rob, who coached outside linebackers with the New England Patriots. Rob was hired.
“It’s about time a Ryan joined this organization,” Rob said at the time.
Judging from the way the Raiders were pushed around on defense under Rob for six years, you could make the case they got the wrong one.
Or that Rex, who eventually ascended to defensive coordinator in Baltimore, isn’t all that much different than Rob except for having the Ravens’ superior personnel.
Considering the job Rex has done with the Jets this season, with defensive schemes that are his, it looks like he’s just a damn good coach.
Even with that, there are too many pundits who are taking the Jets in this game _ more than you’d think for a 9-7 team that got into the playoffs in large part because the last two opponents were already there and weren’t exactly motivated. And because Nate Kaeding missed three field goals.
Sure, it would be fitting for the Colts to be eliminated by the same team it let into the playoffs by going in the tank to protect their personnel.
But I see it as a Colts win, and I like the the home team (New Orleans) in the second game as well.
We’ll start to find out in less than 20 minutes.

Jhill,
After gambling on guys like JaMichael McFadden-Bey…we can gamble on anyone.
I for one would welcome Cody at #8. Should he be drafted there…debateable…but the last thing this team needs is yet another athlete!

Arent we supposedly running a vertical attack? Withthe ZBS though?
================================================
the ZBS would not be incongruent with a deep passing game. The Jets run it and they had the number one run O in the league last year they just don’t incorporate the deep passing game which would be a nice feature. If you are going to heave the rock deep down the field, you need one of the if not THE preeminent Offensive lines in the league. Otherwise, you get killed. We don’t have that so we get killed.

Exactly! That is my freakin point! It is a damn joke

With Cable coming back, we can count on Softele at C. I think he’ll plug big Langston in at RG so we need to tadd a first round talent at OT. If the top 2 OTs are gone, I say McClain.

January 24th, 2010 at 11:49 am
Right now…a line clogging NT would make the biggest impact on a team that will be challenged yet again to score a lot of points.
So if Cody is the best option…I have no problem with him at number 8
January 24th, 2010 at 11:50 am
Jhill you were the same guy blaming the RDE for the run woes in the preseason. We got big richard and nada changed. I, for example, said the whole time the middle of the Dline was the real problem.
January 24th, 2010 at 11:50 am
Biggest weakness on the team is Oline talent. With the Big non mobile guy coming back, you would think it was a no brainer to upgrade the Oline. Zero holes to run through should also be a clue.
January 24th, 2010 at 11:51 am
Terrance Cody is in the 50’s for Mayock’s draft rating.
Shouldn’t we wait to see if he is in the second round or maybe late first.
We pick him at #8, we might get ridiculed more so than the DHB pick.

McClain is a first-round top 10 talent.
We may be able to get Mclain in the first and Cody in the second. I would rather go that route, than reach for Cody at #8, and you know Al isn’t trading down. Better chance he trades up from the 2nd to the last first.

Taking a 2nd rd prospect at 8 is not a good move. If he was as dominant as you suggest, he’ll be a top 10 pick. The way it is now, you can get him late first of in the 2nd. Just doesn’t make since.
I’d like an example of a fat guy like Cody being drafted that high. All the good fat guy NTs were taken later in the first round or lower.
Jolley can be had as they migrate Raji in there. Let Seymour talk Wilfork over here.
January 24th, 2010 at 12:02 pm

Mike mayock is a genius, remember he was the only one who said DMAC is a bust. I like Cody but we shouldn’t take him 8 maybe trade up with our second n third to get him late first rounder. Campbell will be AL’s pick guranteed why? Simple he is freak of nature ( probably juiced) muscle on top of muscle left tackle who runs 4.5 or 4.6 that’s what ZBS needs.
Btw if Cody is gone remember this name down around 3 or 4th rounder NT Jay Ross, Officer Ricky brother jk lol but dude is huge he can progress to become Hampton

As far as MLB check the guy called Washington that Vegas mentioned he fast but can he tackle.
My guy I like if he falls is Arenas I saw many games n he is a guy who can develop but mean time play ST returning the ball

January 24th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
Imagine what that does for organizational cohesiveness, Norco. The media reporting the head coach is staying, and the RAiders denying it. That must sit well with the cable guy. The media knew the Raiders would deny it, now they’ve got something. The Raiders just admitted that there is turmoil, and that they are confused as to which way to go. As long as they were insinuating Cable would stay, they didn’t have that problem. It really did look like the media was just stirring up s’t. The media knows how to play the Raiders. It’s too easy. The Raiders blew this like a 4th quarter lead. Al Davis is making the same mistakes off the field as he’s making on it. Can’t close.

Norco, it’s ok. As a die hard fan, it’s not your job to understand pr. But the Raiders certainly should, and they don’t. It’s not about what’s true or what anyone knows, it’s about perception. And the Raiders perception just went from stability, playing the media, to chaos, we don’t know what’s going on, etc. And all the media had to do was ask one question.
January 24th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
I also hope that Cable gives up training camp planning too. Give it to one of the assistants..
The Raiders are one of the most unprepared teams in the league last year
January 24th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
The media doesn’t look stupid anymore, Norco. Look what they did. They just changed their line of questioning. Instead of reporting that something is wrong, they report that everything is ok. Perfect. Then what do the Raiders do? DENY THAT REPORT! And say that they haven’t made a decision on Cable. Now everyone knows that the Raiders are in disarray.

January 24th, 2010 at 1:18 pm
The media, espn, reported that Cable was coming back,..the raiders said no decision was made yet,..sounds fine to me,..when they decide Im sure they will let us all know. Iv told you, it doesnt really matter if cable stays or not,..wont make any difference really.

R8eray,
I think its 50/50 that whoever is the 5th round pick even makes the roster.

Is JaDavis watching this game……again…see how a real QB performs….better yet is Tom Cable watching this too…before he annoints Gradkowski as the savior.
Is Davis watching….because he doesn’t have a QB on the roster right now…perhaps he can use this game as a guide to what a real QB looks like

January 24th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
As long as the media was reporting that Cable was gone and the Raiders were denying it, the Raiders looked stable and the media looked like drama queens. Schefter switched the gameplan. He then reported that everything was ok in Oakland. All the Raiders had to do was let that report ride, then make their decision, whatever it was. Instead, Al and Herrera can’t resist the bait. They respond to the report that Cable is staying by saying no decision has been made yet, which is a denial. Now everyone knows the Raiders are in turmoil, as usual. This affects the ability to sign free agents and assistant coaches. And if we are looking for a head coach, you don’t think these coaching candidates can’t see how we have our current head coach left in limbo, not even knowing his status? What amount of money and control would Al have to offer them to distract them from it? Considering Al doesn’t typically offer coaches money and control, I’m guessing not enough. The Raiders look ridiculous again, and Schefter, again, pulled their mask off.
January 24th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
Archie’s middle son, sure can get some points in a hurry. Octodad has to keep the pressure on, or the Colts are going to blow ‘em out in the 2nd half. imo..

what does it matter…The Raiders are joke to the NFL. Any coaches worth a sh_t won’t coach here beacause Al David is a dinosaur and everybody knows it. I can’t wait for this years nfl draft because I here that AL has his eyes on a punter from NW South Dakota St he thinks will be a steal in the first round.
January 24th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
MR,
Everyone knows that the baffoonery of Al Davis has this franchise on its knees.

Just start Michael Bush and give him at least 15 carries a game. Do whatever the hell he wants with the rest of the roster.

So I was doing the math in my head in the first half.
If you started with a $50 bet on the Jets to win in the game against the Colts week 15, you would have got back around $135. Roll that onto them the last week against the Bengals and you got around$250.
Put the $250 on the Jets to win in the first round, about +200, and you now got $750. Put that $750 on the Jets to win again last week, +300, and you now got $3,000. And if you rolled that over this week, and they pull it out, you would have over 10K.
All from $50.

January 24th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Just as so much of what you see is and has been dead wrong in the past. Your take on the Jets in your article is also dead wrong.
Jets are playing the Colts tough and are winning the game and that is with the Colts starters. Who knows who wins the game but the Jets belong right where they are.
Your logic on the Chargers missing 3 FG’s is flawed at best. All teams win or loose because of things they do or do not do. I have to laugh when someone will say they won because the other team fumbled the ball away three times. Someone on the other team helped cause those fumbles.
The Chargers are built up every year to be something they are not when in truth they have failed to step up all through the history and thus the whole 2 AFC Championship games played in to date.
Compare that with the Raiders which you like to knock as an organizations NFL record 14 AFC Champuionship games played to date and you tell me who history will judge had the better organization through time, the Raiders or the Chargers.

Sanchez has the perfect skill-set for today’s NFL.
A QB with leadership, poise, pocket-presence and mobility, and great accuracy within 20 yards, not the strongest arm, but strong enough.
This whole idea that Jamarcus is the most skilled QB prospect ever is nonsense.

Vegas…spot on with Sanchez. Let’s remember that this is is ROOKIE year and he’s lead his team to the AFC Championship game.
Our wunderkind…JaDavis can’t even read both sides of the field and his fundamentals are horrible.
The Raiders are so far away from even thinking about success.
JaDavis Russell and his slow, plodding, no accuracy self – who will be the starter this year
Tom Cable and his absolute devotion to Justin Fargas

Do you think JaDavis will be on a short leash? I mean, if he comes out of camp as the starter…but didn’t earn it…then what makes you so confident that they will just pull the plug.
JaDavis should not come out of camp as the starter unless he has legitimately beat him out on the practice field…not just in the eyes of Al Davis

Problem is he won’t get a fair shot…
JaDavis has the support of Al
Gradkowski is now a “Cable Guy”
Oh well
January 24th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
SnB,
I just don’t think the Raiders will be as patient as they were this year. Why would they be?
If he plays like he did in weeks 2 and 3, like he did this year, his azz will be on the bench.
ESPECIALLY if they bring back Cable. If Tom is back, I don’t see Jamarcus being handed the starting QB gig.
January 24th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Bruce is better than Losman. JP doesn’t have the same grit, and has the label of a bit of a jerk.
Bruce has his mother cook for teammates, guys that he asks to fight for him. You can’t duplicate that type of stuff.

I think Terry Bradshaw proved you don’t have to be “[Place your stereotype here]” To play QB and win SB’s.
January 24th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Vegas Raider,
Gradkowski has to show me by winning the job outright in camp. My fear is that he will be annointed as the next guy by Cable without a full assessment.
I am down on Gradkowski because 3 teams, that needed QBs, cut him in quick succession. I don’t have faith in the Raiders for their evaluation and coaching prowess.
Again, Gradkowski earned the right to compete….but let’s get him some real competition that pushes him or…hopefully…beats him out

I’m with you 100%, except for the QB position. The only spot that the rah-rah stuff counts.
I’m not with just giving the job to Bruce. But someone has to take the first snap of camp, and if he is on the roster, it should be him and his job to lose. If he loses it, than by all means he should lose it. I just don’t think he will.

Vegas,
As long as the QB competition is fair and there is credible competition in their to push the guys and get the best player on the field.
JaDavis has Al to back him
Gradkowksi has Cable to support him
We need someone else in there…hopefully its Losman…maybe its Campbell or Rosenfelds…or Troy Smith or someone….
I am not comfortable with Gradkowski…and I am sure as hell confident that JaDavis aint the guy minus a complete makeover of his mind….

Its hard to say what happens to the ZBS. Davis doesn’t pay much attention to things like the Offensive Line…but if I were to guess..the ZBS stays because Cable can simply say that the system values athletic players…you know how Davis covets speed and raw athleticism
January 24th, 2010 at 3:37 pm

KK, you are drunk old man. The D-Line coach has no bearing on Al’s “power” running scheme, not even subtly (or “sublety”).
January 24th, 2010 at 4:15 pm
Darren finally started making a few plays towards the end of last year. He gave me a little hope, that he will not be a huge, huge bust.
Regardless, he averaged 3.5 YPC, has a fumble for every 20 touches in his career, and has missed one out of every 5 games.
If those numbers don’t improve soon, he sucks. If Bush can average 5 YPC, how come he is at 3.5? And don’t give me the “used properly” excuse, he was the top RB coming out of college, and RB’s take handoffs.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
The Running Back situation is similiar to how I think the QB situation will play out in 2010…
For the Running Backs
DMAC is the #4 overall — therefore he’s an Al guy
Fargas is a “Cable Guy” — therefore he gets work
Bush is no ones favorite…he just produces…oh well
For the QBs in 2010
JaDavis Russell is the #1 overall…therefore an Al guy
Gradkowski is a “Cable Guy” — therefore he gets work
Losman or free agent — will scrapping to get a snap
January 24th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Lucid conclusion there vegas. DMAC has trade value today, but I fear not for long. I want a third and a fourth.

January 24th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Unfortunately, all of the knocks on DMAC, while in college, have proved to be founded.
Fumbles too much.
Goes down when touched, never breaking tackles or fighting for extra yards.
Gets injured just getting out of bed.

An all 4-3 allignment Super Bowl…
January 24th, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Having just watched Devery Henderson spike the ball after his touchdown I remembered that Hewritt Dixon was the first player I ever saw to spike the ball after scoring a TD. Anybody know of another player who did it prior to Hewritt?
January 24th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
M.Lonetree.
He was the first guy I saw spike the ball.
The Raiders used to pound the ball.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Michael Bush is a fat and out of shape for a running back. He is not an every down 25+ carry guy because he wares down easily. If he was the back that his personal cheer leader SnB believes him to be he would be gettn 25 carries a game and puttn up 1500 yards. He isnt so he hasnt. Period.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:51 pm
Clem Daniels
Hewritt Dixon
Charlie smith
Marv Hubbard
Pete Banasak
Mark Van Eagan
Marcus Allen
They pounded the ball, converted with Freddy B.
Art Powell, Warren Wells benefited.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
Dude,
But, he’s the most effective back.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
All 3 backs have been effective at times- none have done it consistently except for Fargas in 07.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
KoolKell,
cool. you remember the same thing with Dixon being the first spiker. I was just wondering if my memory was prejudiced toward Hewritt or if someone else did it also.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Bush has the highest ypc avg. Owns the only 100 yd games.
January 24th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Hewritt Dixon made the Raiders contenders, as I recall.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:01 pm
He has the highest YPC because he had 2 games where he was upwards of 8 ypc. The dude cant do it on a game 2 game basis and is not a feature back. I dont believe any of the 3 are.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:01 pm
Yep, him and Billy Cannon with tight end screens.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
Well, Bush is the only RB to make a difference in a Raider game in the last 2 years, and some of us are wondering why he has to beg for playing time.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Yep, Billy Cannon, wow. Ray Chester, Dave Casper the royal line.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:07 pm

No, you dont. For all you know the dude could be a major d-bag who dznt do the things needed to earn more PT. What other reason would there be if he was so good.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
I think AP fumbled that one, not Brett.
Boy better go pee on his hands at halftime
January 24th, 2010 at 5:14 pm

January 24th, 2010 at 5:18 pm

January 24th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
my man Brinkley is not playing well today…
last week he kicked ass… today not so much…
maybe he will pick it up in the 2nd half…
still would have liked to see him in silver and black…
January 24th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Florida Pete,
I repect that you have stayed with your boy Brinkley through thick and thin.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:33 pm
AL should go after Leckey as he is free agent this year. We can’t wait for a rookie to learn the position, get a veteran who can guide the rookies in RT or RG.
January 24th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
Big time, if Cable was his head coach he would have been in the dog house
January 24th, 2010 at 6:00 pm
Dude,
I don’t go to practice and its a good thing because it clearly doesn’t mean much.
Hell, JaDavis and DHB must be lighting it up in practice to get all their playing time…
The Raider fan falls in love with these plodding no-talent players like Fargas, Eugene and Green…then complain and gnash their teeth when the season ends at 5-11
January 24th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Raider fan is the only one to prefer the guys that don’t produce but have a great attitude!…..or high draft status
Part of the reason why this Raider franchise is one of the worst in the last quarter century
January 24th, 2010 at 6:02 pm
Yeah, if Peterson was a Raider under Tom Cable…he’d be in the doghouse and getting about 5 carries a game while Crash Test pounds away
January 24th, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Bush has damn near 5yds per carry on over 100 carries….more yards per carry and more yards….
The other two players…who are backups can’t even get to 4 per carry.
Yet Raider fan cheers when Fargas gets his 2 yards or DMAC trips over a blade of grass….
January 24th, 2010 at 6:11 pm

SnB
I dont cheer for DMAC or Fargas, I just dont think Bush has done much neither. Could be Cable mistake, AL forcing DMAC, who cares, OL is bad, QB is bad, I dont think this offense is any good, we need more talent all around.
Now as a fan I can speculate a solution.
Sign Leckey as our Center
Draft RT Campbell with the 8 th overall
Draft RG Mitch from Arkansas who blocked for DMAC and F Jones round 4 or 5.
Sign Chris Chambers or T.O, we need a veteran who could teach these guys some route running
Draft Micah Johnson 3rd round
Give up a second and third move up to get Cody late first round.
Draft NT Jay Ross with the 5th pick if we pick RG Mitch in the 4th.
Cut Kelly, Warren, Eugene, Green, JR
Resign Morrison if cheap, Howard, Grad, Losman, Jano
Pick undrafted free agents and sign some bums to training camp to see if they make it.
January 24th, 2010 at 6:30 pm
Can’t do much if you don’t get the ball. bottom line is that the 3 back system is a TOTAL failure!
Get rid of Fargas or DMAC and share the carries between Bush and whichever back you want to keep.
I am sick and tired of a team that doesn’t run the ball and can’t pass it
The worst team in the NFL
January 24th, 2010 at 6:31 pm
The Raider O-Line used to punish D-Lines.
January 24th, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Gene Upshaw and Art Shell were in charge, period.
January 24th, 2010 at 6:38 pm
KoolKell,
And Steve Wisniewski, Kevin Gogan and Don Mosebar also got the job done.
Unfortunately, Davis and Cable think they can win with backup talent on the O-Line.
That’s why Cable loves Fargas so much. Fargas just runs straight ahead with violence….since there aren’t any holes..he fits the offensive philosophy of this backward team
January 24th, 2010 at 6:40 pm
SnB,
Mike Bush hasnt done squat in this league. He is an avg NFL back who is out of shape and cant carry the load. Never has. Im no big fan of DMC and Fargas is startn to break down so fact is there isnt a feature back on the club. Proof is in the pudding as they say. Your not a big enough fool to believe the conspiracy theory you cry about EVERY day.
January 24th, 2010 at 6:42 pm
They drafted Gallery, Stinchcomb, Mo Collins, Jake Grove…..
January 24th, 2010 at 6:56 pm
Bush: 123 carries 589 yds 4.8 avg
Fargas: 129 carries 491 yds 3.8 avg
McBust: 104 carries 357 yds 3.4 avg
Now, I would like to see Bush get more carries this year…unless they bring in someone else
I do not want to see Fargas or DMAC getting any more carries
January 24th, 2010 at 6:58 pm
But hey….if Darius Heyward-Bey can play over Louis Murphy then why not.
Statistics and production don’t mean much in Oakland the last 7 years
January 24th, 2010 at 7:01 pm
Bush gets his stats in spurts. Basically 2 games. He dissapears the rest of the time. If he was as good as you think, the numbers would show it.
January 24th, 2010 at 7:10 pm
Disappear…yeah, because wonder coach Cable didn’t give him the ball.
He only had 6 games with at least 10 carries…and two of those games were exactly 10 carries…another game was when the Giants were blowing out the Raiders.
Fact is, Bush only played when wonder kid Fargas and DMAC were hurt.
Cable is a fool
January 24th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
So its gonna be
JaDavis
Fargas
Heyward-Bey
Green, Carlisle, Satele, a broken down Gallery and Mario
And you guys wonder why this team finishes 5-11
January 24th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Yeah Bush Disappears, for some reason he’s on the bench????????
January 24th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Hmmm…. Guy who hangs out on a Raider fan forum or a NFL head and long time assistant coach??? Who knows more?? Its a mystery!
January 24th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Dude,
So if Bush’s carries and yards are all B.S
Why is it that Fargas and the Bust can’t even get 4 yds a carry with all the chances those two get?
What the hell have they done to justify more carries.
The only time the running game did anything is when Fargas and McBust were hurt
January 24th, 2010 at 7:14 pm
Dude,
it is a mystery…the only thing that is not a mystery is that this team is terrible
5-11 and NO PLAYMAKERS ON THE DAMN FIELD.
JUST A LOT OF GUYS THAT RUN WITH VIOLENCE
January 24th, 2010 at 7:16 pm

January 24th, 2010 at 7:26 pm
1. That was not a catch. The guy trapped it.
2. On that 4 and inches, first of all the review should have put the ball back further before the play. Second, the player fumbled the ball so when he recovered it is where he got pushed back. That should not have been a first down. However, the replay refs were chciken shytt to call against the home team IMO.
Either way, it’s gonna be a great SB.
January 24th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Vikings have bigger problems.
They are right back at 8-8 as they have no QB.
Farve will retire.
But it was nice to make the run thats for sure.
Back to the joining the rest of those mediocre teams
Of course, the Raiders WILL NEVER sniff the rarified air of the playoffs with a team that has as many holes as Oakland does
No QB, RB (cause of coach), WR, RT, RG, C, Broken down LG, FB, DT, NT, MLB, NB, KR, and maybe kicker….
and a sub-par coaching staff and front office
Like Norco says…just go to watch the games and enjoy Sundays

January 24th, 2010 at 7:41 pm
New Orleans needed this and finally they are winners. Bret Favrey threw a SB away. IMO the Saints will win the SB the Colts simply cannot run and Brees will slice up that defense. Reggie Bush will make a tn of plays.
The New Orleans Saints Super Bowl champs!!!

January 24th, 2010 at 7:53 pm
Whoever won, won. Karma and the Saints.
January 24th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
It obvious now that the Vikes were the best team of the 4 but you can’t turn the ball over on the road. They kept turning it over until it finally cost them the game.
January 24th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
5 Raiders made the PB, but it should have been 6.
1- P Lechler
2- CB Nnamdi
3- J Condo
4- TE Miller
5- DT Seymour
Jano was robbed!
How can we only win FIVE games?!?! We have 5 PBs, and one player was robbed.
We need better coaching!!

January 24th, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Raider O, Tom Cable beat himself too many times with his playcalling in games that were easy wins if he call a good game. The KC home game, the Cleveland game are two I can readily think of. But his refusal to run the football was at times asinine. Especially early in the season when we were playing with a very young and inexperienced team.
January 24th, 2010 at 8:09 pm

I don’t know if ZBS is holding us back, but F Pete said it best: it’s being used as an excuse not to draft OL in the 1st 2 RDs, and an excuse to have guys like Cooper, Green, Pears, Harris, Barnes ( who I wanted us to sign), Satele, and Morris.
^^^^^^^^
Exactly.
What needs to happen is two things when it comes to improving the running game and the O-Line play in general.
The implementation of more POWER running schemes….whether it’s a power ZBS scheme or a more power counter, man or misdirection blocking scheme within in the red zone. ZBS should not be the exclusive blocking scheme that used 100% of the time….the blocking schemes need to mixed up much like what the Ravens and Jets use.
The other big change that is needed is the drafting or signing of FA’s O-Linemen that are bigger and stronger and weigh 320 pounds or more or maulers who can also move.
No more of this exclusively focusing on adding 300 pound O-Linemen who can move….but are NOT maulers.

What about the games Cable was forced to start DHB and JR even though clearly we needed to bench those two if we ever had any chance to win. I really would like you to admit that playing a struggling JR and stone hand DHB cost more games then Kansas and Cleveland, Can you admit that AL Davis forcing certain players to play caused more losses then Cable not running the ball? If not, please explain
January 24th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
Guys,
Dallas Cowboys OL
Adams, Flozell 6-7 338
Kosier, Kyle 6-5 307
Gurode, Andre 6-4 318
Davis, Leonard 6-6 353
Colombo, Marc 6-8 318
What happened to them, they got killed by Vikings DL.
My point is not the line and system, its who is ready to play, who is hungry, home field, there are alot of things that comes into play on Sunday. Nevertheless, I would take this line over the bums we got.
January 24th, 2010 at 8:29 pm
Raiders4eve, look man you have your opinion I have mine why do you need me to agree with you? You think he was forced I don’t….so be it. It’s obvious to any one witha ny degree of insight that Cable loves DHB. And starting Russell is a no brainer until he started playing poorly over an extended period of time.

Raiders4eve? That’s priest. Priest has perfected the fine art of spineless reply.
He’ll NEVER put the blame on Russell. Or Al.
Priest is an equal opportunity sac hanger..hangs on one of Al’s, and one of JaBlubberButt.
Wasn’t that Russell missed the wide open receiver, it was Cable didn’t call the right play for JR to NOT miss a wide open receiver.
Wasn’t that Al MADE Cable play an obvious inept Bey, it was that Cable didn’t call the right play that insured JR wouldn’t miss and that Bey wouldn’t drop the ball.
It’s NEVER Al’s fault with Priest the Worm.
Never JR’s fault with Priest the Ebonics Wonder.
It’s always Cable..always.

I’m sure there is a few teams with better records, and they don’t have 5 PBs, but they do have better coaching.
As for Jano, he was perfect most of the season, missed only 2, and that’s only my opinion.
January 24th, 2010 at 9:20 pm
Yeah, I know Raider O. he was at best mediocre. Now hopefully after taking his lumps by his boss he’ll understand he’s not Bill Walsh and we’re not the Indy Colts. This is a very young team with a struggling young QB learning his craft and you can’t ask him to carry an offense. The Jets and Ravens got to where they got to because they didn’t expose those guy’s unnecessarily. Things he asked Russell to do were stupid and showed he had no idea hw to handle a young QB.
Worse he should’ve known that his calling card was the running game. we should’ve gone into camp biulding that running game and staying with it throughout the year until that passing game came along. I know Hue Jackson understands this thus the interview. I believe Mr Davis picked his brain about Russell and wants his opinion on what he would do to bring him along. If he likes what he hears Jackson will be hired. Also he definitely wants to install a power running game which the Ravens ran under Jackson.
January 24th, 2010 at 9:52 pm
BHP,
-We didn’t run enough in OTAs and Camp. He exposed DMC, JR, and DHB ( they didn’t help themselves).
- the Oline was a joke, and that is his specialty.
- didn’t help develop any players!
- his play calling was Dumb!

It comes down to whether you trust AL Davis judgment in player personal, I don’t since his method been proven for the past 7 years that it leads to 11 losses. I am a die hard Raider fan just like you Priesttj, if we were in the game we are rooting for the same team. Yet, I believe that there is something wrong with this team and there is one man responsible for it, you think its Cable while I think its AL Davis aka the GM. We agree to disagree with that.
Now, as two guys who like this team, I give you my solution and I would like to hear yours. Here is mine.

5- OG

- Move Seymour inside fulltime.
- Restructure TK & Huffs contracts.
- Resign Kirk as a SLB if he gives us a discount.
- Cut Warren, Euk, Green, Cooper, Both FBs, and WR walker. The only 2 Oline players we should consider to sign as backups are Barnes and Walker.
- Sign a Vet QB, WR, FB, and an OL to help the young offense. The D has Seymour and Nnamdi.

to all those who say we should draft a Def. player in the 1st round, have you been watching the Raiders? With an Off. as inept as ours how can you not draft help for the Off.?Since the anchor will no doubt be given the QB job to at least start the year,we better built the best Oline in the league if we are to have any chance.Russell makes Andrew Walter look like M. Vick when it comes to mobility.

How many really good coaches have we just missed out on in the last 10-15 years? Belichick. Sean Payton. Ken Whisenhunt. Rex Ryan. Any others. Seems like Al has a solid eye for coaching talent but seems to just miss out.
January 24th, 2010 at 11:35 pm
Lefty,
I feel we are much closer to having a complete unit on Defense than we are on Offense.
Add a MLB, DE, DT, and we can be great. Good enough to help carry thing young offense that needs: a vet QB, WR, FB, and OL. We need to add sine played from FA to add leader and exp to this young unit.

Not bad but I’m afraid a little optimistic. Iupati is going in Round 1 even though some projections have him as a borderline 1/2 guy. I think he actually winds up going in the top 20. Gerhart will go in the first 10 picks of the 2nd round, if not sooner. Micah Johnson will probably go Round 3 and maybe even late Round 2. San Diego probably won’t let Marcus McNeill go, but it’s worth noting that he’s regressed since his rookie season and isn’t the elite LT it looked like he was going to become.

I disagree with you, Micah will fall since he wont perform in the combine and pro day just like M Bush fell for us, SD will let McNeill leave cause they never resign they players, they are hella cheap, Gerhart is not even projected a third round you gotta remember this guy is not a fast RB that teams are looking for nowadays. But I dont think we need a RB, we have more concerns than that.
1. OL Campbell Fastest and most physical built (Muscled up maybe juice)
2. Go up give up a second and third get DT Cody
3. MLB Micah Johnson
4. NT Jay Ross big guy who can play 3-4 or 4-3 if Steelers dont take him, if they do Hampton is free agent
5. OG Mitch from Arkansas, blocked for DMAC and Jones
7. Best Wrs available who can return kicks hopefully turns to another Schillens
Free Agency
Leckey is a must over pay him
McNeill
Chambers or T.O we need a veteran who can teach run routing i dont trust Sanjay Lal
CB Dunta Robinson we need another corner and move CJ to the nickle
January 24th, 2010 at 11:53 pm
O,i can’t agree with you.looking at the playoffs it is evident you need an Off. that can score to have any chance in the NFL.our Def. is good enough to win and be competitive.Granted we could use a few more pieces, but our Off. is pathetic and unless we do some things to improve it we will continue to suck.
Simon, don’t make me laugh.the only way Russell gets to the Pro Bowl is if he buys a ticket, even with an all all -pro line.there may be a time when he turns into a decent NFL QB,which i doubt, but it is highly improbable he will ever attain all pro status.

Then you have the Raiders.
“hey Al, let’s tell them we’re meeting with Cable, but let’s also say we haven’t made a decision on him..yeh..that’ll get attention….huh huh, huh, derr..yeh, we’re playing the media, Al, derr, we’re playing the media!!”

Raiders4eve, here’s my answer sorry to get back to you so late but I logged off. I trust Mr Davis judgement as well as anyones. The thing is talent evaluation is a very tricky thing. It’s easy to lookm at it in hindsight and say what we should’ve done but very few people can do it with foresight. On a blog like this we have tons of guy’slooking at things with hindsight and making judgements. I could get a 5 year old to do that.
Getting a player and developing that player are two very different things. Coaching is paramount in this regard. Cable IMO thinks he knows how to use a QB and develpe a pass attack well he can’t if he doesn’t have great talent with experience and it showed. Anyone can do what Caldwell did in Indy. What can he do if Manning retires.
Great coaches win with good talent and dominate with great talent. Cable needs great talent to win consistently. He can develope some players but he has no idea how to develpe a QB at this level and it showed.
Everybody has these draft boards and wishlist which I guess is cute but when you don’t know what’s stll available on each rnd it’s really a silly game. At this point in the process it is like fantasizing about a date with Halle Berry. Probably the furthest I would take a wish list is the 2nd rnd and even then it’s a WILD guess. I know I’d like a MLB or a OT or OG in the 1st two rnds. Who that might be at this point is like expecting Halle to come sit next to me. It could happen but what’s the probability?
So hopefully this helps you understand why I don’t play that game……
January 25th, 2010 at 1:45 am
i think it is funny the way people set themselves up to get pissed off by targeting certain players.it may be fun to do for some, but they usually get mad when the person they want doesn’t get picked.I’d think it is better to discuss positions of need than certain players.
Priest,Cable wasn’t the one trying to develop the QB,two other top assistants were hired to do that. You should know that. The HC is supposed to run the team-the assistants are paid to develop players.

Raider O, Tom Cable beat himself too many times with his play calling in games that were easy wins if he call a good game. The KC home game, the Cleveland game are two I can readily think of. But his refusal to run the football was at times asinine. Especially early in the season when we were playing with a very young and inexperienced team.

How in the WORLD can you say we lost the Cleavland game b/c of play-calling?Alex Mack and Joe Thomas man-handled our sissy DT’s ALL DAY LONG.The best play caller in the galaxy could not have won the Cleavland game…..WE WAS MAN-HANDLED

I am in the camp of drafting a real 4-3 DT at #1. We finished #29 vs.the rush in da nfl.
Bryan Price – UCLA
Lamarr Houston – Texas
D’Anthony Smith – Louisiana Tech.
These guys are true 4-3 DT’s and I hope we take all of them as opposing Offense’s keep our offense off the field. We can get a OT or Center through the draft but it seems Cable likes O-linemen with a year or 2 ex.Plus our WR and Dmac will break out this coming year,if Gradkowski is the QB,imo
January 25th, 2010 at 4:09 am

On the other hand I hope the Raider WRs were watching the Indy game (Garcon and Collie made some very nice grabs of imperfect passes) as it might give them the idea that it is okay to catch forward passes.

NASCAR ANNOUNCEMENT:
Jeff Gordon announced today that he was firing his entire pit crew. This announcement followed Gordon’s decision to take advantage of President BO’s scheme to employ Harlem youngsters.
The decision to hire them was brought about by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from Harlem were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment; whereas Gordon’s existing crew could only do it in 8 seconds with millions of dollars worth of high tech equipment.
It was thought to be an excellent and bold move by Gordon’s management team, as most races are won or lost in the pits. However, Gordon got more than he bargained for! At the crew’s first practice session, not only was the inexperienced crew able to change all 4 wheels in under 6 seconds, but within 12 seconds, they had changed the paint scheme, altered the VIN number, and sold the car to Dale Ernhart Jr. for 10 cases of Bud, a bag of weed, and some photos of Jeff Gordon’s wife in the shower.

In Oakland, meanwhile, Davis continues to rule the roost in rouge-like fashion, sticking to his guns in terms of personnel, despite the fact the Raiders have shot as many, if not more, blanks as the Bills.
However, league observers believe a much bigger problem in Oakland is Davis’ unyielding but ill-founded faith in Russell under center.
“He does not get it — never has, never will,” said one league personnel exec of Russell, who was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2007 draft out of LSU. “His work ethic and preparation for the game are awful. He’s not a leader. He does not inspire confidence. He was talking about retiring in the locker room as soon as he signed his contract. He’s in it for the money, not to win a championship.
“Al Davis fired his player programs director during the season and has tried to bring in people who can give Russell the guidance he so desperately needs. But he really is a lost cause. It was a very expensive mistake to make. Al’s problem is that he will not relinquish control of personnel. It was a big problem with (former Raiders head coach) Jon Gruden, and it was a problem with Lane Kiffin, who fought hard against drafting JaMarcus Russell. But Al is stuck in his ways.”

Kirk & Thomas are both going to be players in this league as soon as the leave Oakland.
no longer have to play in an Al Davis defense with Warren & Kelly at DT.
I wish them well.

January 25th, 2010 at 10:54 am
Why go after Merriman. He hasn’t been all that much since he got off the juice. We need a real MLB, McClain or Micah Johnson & then go with Scott at SSLB and resign Ricky Brown for the WSLB. Morrison might be ok on the WSLB but Howard, while good in coverage is a liability against te run – he can’t get off blocks. Howard would be good on 3rd & long plays so if we can get him for a good price ok as backup LB.
January 25th, 2010 at 10:56 am

AD is due for a good decision. I’d love for him to go get McNabb if he wants a veteran or Troy Smith RFA, Ravens for someone he can build an offense around. Draft-wise we need MLB, C, OT, DT, OG, CB, PR/KR, C/OG.
I’d like to see them move DMac to slot WR permanently next year. Pick up a Sproules type RB (Rankin, if he’s still around). Run Bush, Fargas/new guy next year in that order. Our wide outs should be Schillins, Murphy & Dmac with Bey, JLH & Miller in the wings. We are already set at TE with Miller, Meyers & Stewart. Starting O-line Henderson/new OLT, Gallery, New C, Walker/New ORG, Henderson/New ORT.

Hopefully, we can dump the ZBS O-line. Let’s get back to what made us famous in the old days – Smash-mouth power-blocking dominating lines. Henderson & Gallery can play that type of play. In that we need a new C, RG & OT, why not draft the right type player to begin with? Nothing happens without a domnating line – that goes for BOTH offense & defense alike. It’s all about what happens in the pits! REBUILD THE BIG UGLY GROUP and wins will follow.

I agree with Exla.
here’s my twist though. ZBS isn’t the problem, personnel is. Replace Satele, Carlisle & Green. Yes even Walker. these guys can stick around for depth if need be (if still under contract)
D-Line: paycut for Kelly and replacement for Warren
anything less than this is not identifying the problem and attempting to fix it
Henderson & Gallery have been pretty solid in the ZBS. How can we be sure they won’t flop in a different system?
Gallery was a bust before the switch to a ZBS, remember???
January 25th, 2010 at 11:35 am
Langston is not the answer, as he has proven to several teams. Just because he is a very large, local boy does not mean he can suddenly play better than he has for many seasons now.
January 25th, 2010 at 11:38 am
Gallery was a semi-bust at OLT. His problem was short arms and pass protection from quick rushers. He doesn’t have to deal with those types of problems at guard. He’s solid at guard and will do just fine at SMPB. He actually better at SMPB that ZBS. He gets to the second level very nicely right now.
January 25th, 2010 at 11:39 am
What ever happened to Oren O’neal, is his injury career ending? We need a FB cause this Lawton dude is terrible. He get’s stood up in the hole and seals it or misses blocks completely.
January 25th, 2010 at 11:43 am
I believe OO’s injury will in effect end his career. We cut him rather than put him on IR. That should tell you something. It’s really too bad because he did look like the right person for the right job. But, without wheels, he’s not going to be effective.
January 25th, 2010 at 11:47 am

the first thing NFL league owners should do is institute a rookie salary cap/wage scale.
Yes, NFL ownership is a cabal of the uber-rich who could stand to lose some bucks to the have-nots of the world, but the ungodly sums spent upon the unproven collegians simply hamstrings the underachieving franchises.
And, with a rookie cap, no longer would there be that friggin’ “Reach!” declaration. With sane wages implied, a team could fill their need at any postion when their turn came to choose a draftee without having to regard the relative pay scale – only QBs, LTs, etc. for the 50 million dollar slots.

It appears that Davis may be coveting a couple of the assistants from the teams that were involved in this weekends championship games. This may be why we have seen this delay in the decision on cable. As soon as the season ended Davis started putting together his list of interview candidates, Im sure he has an a and b list. Three of the teams represent the wave of the future in offensive football, as well as a power 4-3 scheme defense. Davis is getting his ducks in a row, prepping to make a splash probably after the super bowl. I wonder if he will make a run at Leslie Frazier.

Cable heads to Senior Bowl as Raiders say he could still be fired
Posted by Michael David Smith on January 25, 2010 4:20 PM ET
Tom Cable is heading to Mobile, Alabama, as part of the Raiders’ contingent at the Senior Bowl. But while the Senior Bowl is usually a place for coaches to begin planning for the year ahead, the Raiders still say Cable might not be their coach this year.
Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reported this afternoon that Raiders official John Herrera says owner Al Davis is still meeting regularly with Cable, and no decision made.
Herrera’s comments to La Canfora echo what the Raiders said over the weekend, when they disputed a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN that Davis has decided to retain Cable for 2010.
Cable’s trip to the Senior Bowl is an indication that Schefter’s report is correct. But the Raiders are still avoiding any public confirmation that Cable is their coach for the coming year.

Local paper sells out, Saints fans buy up every edition
Posted by Michael David Smith on January 25, 2010 5:18 PM ET
The newspaper industry is going through terrible times across America. But not today in New Orleans.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune sold out every single copy of today’s paper, which features a front-page picture of Saints quarterback Drew Brees below a headline reading “Super Saints.” And so the Times-Picayune is going back to the presses.
“We thought we understood how passionate the people of southeast Louisiana are about the Saints,” the paper said on its web site this afternoon. “But after selling out this morning’s newspaper, we underestimated the demand.
“We printed significantly more papers than usual, but it wasn’t enough. So we’re printing more, and a limited number will be available for sale tomorrow morning.”
A day after the Saints qualified for their first Super Bowl, the partying hasn’t stopped. And that’s good news for the whole city, including the local newspaper.

Pat Williams says he’s 50-50 to retire
Posted by Mike Florio on January 25, 2010 4:53 PM ET
Quarterback Brett Favre isn’t the only member of the Vikings who’ll be pondering whether to call it quits this offseason.
Defensive tackle Pat Williams will be thinking about packing it in, too.
According to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Williams says there’s a 50-50 chance that he’ll retire.
“I feel good [physically],” Williams said. “But yesterday was tough on me. It was draining. You do all that work during the season, so you just feel drained.”
(Pat, ask a few Vikings fans how they feel. And they didn’t even get paid for it.)
“I do it because I have fun,” Williams said. “I don’t do it for anything else so if I ain’t having fun I’m not going to do it. I always have fun being around these guys. I like coming to work every day, laughing with these guys. So if I don’t feel like I’m going to have fun I ain’t going to do it.”
That’s fine, but there aren’t many jobs that pay a guy $4.25 million in 2010 base salary to have fun.
But with an uncapped year coming and plenty of veteran players finally thinking about feathering that lockout nest, we suspect that more than a few of them will rattle the sword of retirement in the hopes of getting a new deal in an environment with unlimited spending.

Posted by Mike Florio on January 25, 2010 4:28 PM ET
Typically, the NFL plays the Pro Bowl after 99.9 percent of the football-watching world has quit paying attention to football.
This year, they’re playing it a week before 99.9 percent of the football-watching world quits paying attention to football.
So how could the league make the game interesting to 100 percent of the football-watching world?
Well, the title kind of gives it away. For more details, click here.

Not sure if Tebow would make it in the NFL but interesting quotes from a supposed QB expert from the article. Sounds like the anti-Russell with his study habits…
Said Herock: “His release might be a little low at this point, but a lot of people talked about Philip Rivers’ delivery too before he was drafted, and look at what he’s done. I’ve heard all the supposed [negatives]. But I watched [Tebow] on the field and his velocity is good enough, and so is his accuracy. As far as his learning, you don’t have to tell him anything twice. And he’s a student of the game. I recommended that he watch some tapes of Steve Young, and he said, ‘Oh, I’ve already done that.’ He wants to be good. He wants to succeed. And he will succeed.”

We need to draft some hogs for sure.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
I think Tebow is going to be an above average NFL QB. If he is still on the board when we pick in the 2nd round, you have to think about picking him.
We have one QB on the roster so far for next year, Jamarcus Russell. What if Frye, JP and Bruce all walk this offseason, or even if two leave?
But I doubt he will even be there. If he plays well in the game this weekend, I’m thinking some team will might take him in the first round.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:43 pm
I got ya BigB!

# Dakota Says:
January 25th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
Lol, who cares about Tebow…we need offensive linemen!!!!!!!!!
……………………
Exactly. Not only is the “We’re just one player away” crowd resting on the far fetched belief that Russell is to blame for how bad we are (because we were an AFC power house before Russell arrived…), but they want to replace him with a QB who’s thrown the ball a total of 7 times in his entire college career.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
And he’s still better than #2
January 25th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
Well, the difference is, Alzado’s a man. Tebow’s a girl.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:47 pm
That can be Al’s next greatest move. Re-sign Jamarcus, and than draft Tebow, and have a QB controversy of guys that are complete polar opposites.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
To be honest, 4evaRaider, as bad as Russell is, I think he’s a better NFL QB than Tebow would be. Tebow would get snapped in half in this offense.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
What a GREAT concept!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 25th, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Alzado cried because he had to face the cold, hard reality of what his roid abuse did to him.
Tebow cried because he is a fukstick little Florida biotch sho didn’t get his way.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
A QB controversy is when you have two good QBs. Russell and Tebow are more like the special olympics than a QB controversy.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:52 pm
Al is crazy, Tebow might go off the deep end with his religion, and Al would be the only crazy enough fckr to listen and buy into it all.
Who knows what Tebow might say. If you ask him about going to Oakland, I’m sure he’d cite some religious virtue and spin it wonderfully. Al might think Tebow is some type of Raider Resurrection.
I would pay money to watch Al and Tebow in room together alone. High comedy.
January 25th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
#2 is definitely our most durable QB thats 4 sure.I stated on a post awhile back that Tebow is 6′-5″ but he is really 6-3.and he weighs around 238 so Tebow is a tough kid also. But as Vegas said if he’s there in the 2nd you really would have to think. This is a real footballer, imo,a real footballer. But I still want DT’s this year

Richochet, Russell, more fragile than Tebow? Russell was the only QB healthy to play on our roster because the others were too fragile for our door mat O line. Tebow might be better than Russell in every category but durability is not one of them. When an asteroid hits the planet it’s going to be the cockroaches and Russell.

I got ya BigB!
Hey, I wouldn’t want Tebow on the team for the simple fact that he is a cry baby.

Oh stop, lol.
Remember when that guy pawned you that Rolex?
Fake insides?
Remember those tears?
New era…now it’s “he cried man tears”

So, in order for it to be a controversy, people have to care, right? That’s what I meant. We’ve always had guys fighting for the QB spot, and the media payed it no mind, because both quarterbacks sucked anyway. Let’s say if we’d drafted Tom Brady while Gannon was here, and Brady came in and cleaned house in a game where Gannon was hurt. That would be a QB controversy. Russell and Tebow is the battle of the draft busts. Might as well add Leaf, for good measure.

Vegas, Tebow wouldn’t be the first bible freak to come through Oakland. Napolean Kaufman was one.

Actually Nap was some what of a thug until Albert Lewis turned him on to Jesus.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:09 pm
RMM..go read my post..that’s what I said.
That Tebow is more fragile than Russell..not that Russell is a “better qb”.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:10 pm
Yeah..like the “Josh/Culp” controversy.
Everyone was like “who cares”?
January 25th, 2010 at 4:11 pm
Favre might retire….Minnesota might pick Tebow in the 1st and reunite him with Harvin
January 25th, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Got ya, Richochet. I think Tebow can throw a mean screen pass.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:13 pm
Sanchez flirted his way into being a top 5 pick last year. Tebow will be whoring himself out to the media just the same and someone is going to buy into it and take him in late in the first round.

Tebow’s perfect in Minnesota. He can hand the ball off to Peterson better than anyone.

Tebow= Steve Young
January 25th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
Vegas, Sanchez hasn’t earned his top billing? Jesus Christ, man, what more can you ask of a rookie quarterback than what he did this year? 9-7 and a wild card exit would have been a good season for him. What he did was flat out remarkable.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:18 pm
Tebow= Jim Drunkenmiller

And Peterson would still drop it! LMFAO. Farve would have been playing in the lead instead of from behind.
Farve didn’t cost the Vikings the game, Peterson with his fumbling did.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
That 12 men penalty cost the game, and that’s more on Childress than anyone. Childress with all of his mindless yapping, trying to prove to Favre he’s in charge. F’k him.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Sanchez’s success is only going to increase Tebow’s stock value.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Why? Sanchez actually threw the ball in college.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Minnesota’s biggest mistake was giving Childress a 3 yr. extension. Manning said he changed the plays at the line yesterday from run to pass and implied his coach did not have a fit. Aimed at Childress.

You all frazzled that you got exposed as being ’slow’?
Did you expect a different ending?
Ok..I’ll lighten up on your occupation. Didn’t know you were so sensitive about it.
Tell you what. Instead why don’t you enlighten us on your comment about how NO ONE fires a manager unless they’ve already hired one to replace them in advance.

I’ll pick it up later

Anyway, as Vegas has been saying all year it’s a QB league now and the teams that have the best QB’s would win.Well Vegas is correct and the stats bear this out.Brees finished 1st in the nfl in TD passes and Completion %’s….P.Manning finished 2nd in both those catagories…..
Which is why I amj sold on Gradkowski….He led the Nation on Completion %’s as a senior and I know he can do it at this level….he just needs the playing time, imo
January 25th, 2010 at 4:30 pm
Alright, Vegas. We’re having a safety meeting at my work. Too many people burning themselves on the friar.
January 25th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
ExLA,
I completely agree.
Someone I was talking with today was grumbling about the Favre intercept late in the 4th.
I told ‘em the Old man would never have been in that situation if it weren’t for the upchucking of Adrian and Percy.
And the Childress thing. Zygi will be paying that contract long after Brad becomes jetsam.
