Cable on Jackson hire
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 at 2:50 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Talking while observing practice at the Senior Bowl, Raiders coach Tom Cable gave a thumbs up to the hiring of Hue Jackson as offensive coordinator.
I think it’s a good decision by the organization,” Cable told the National Football Post. “It’s someone that I’m familiar with. It’s someone that I think can help us take the next step, so we’re all pretty excited about it.”

Old Kell is older then Al Davis.
January 26th, 2010 at 2:51 pm
Cable’s reaction: “Who? Oh, good for him! Does that mean I still have a job?”
January 26th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Hahaha,..old Kell,..insanity is like doing the same thing over and over and over you say?…hahaha…like posting same seven year stats over and over and over…I know your old and jealous,..but insane?..ok, if you say so.
January 26th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Al should just name Jackson “OC/Future HC in Waiting for the Inevitable 1-3 Start to the 2010 Season”
The only way Jackson took this job was with the promise of replacing Cable as soon as Cable fuks up.

you would trust Cable to hire anyone after his miasmic performance at assembling an O-line?

If JaMarcus sucks again, I don’t think Cable will hold back on pulling him out at putting Gradkowski in. He did it this year, and unfortunately that might realistically be our best possible situation for next year. At least they would continue to push each other and switches back and forth would hold both accountable.
AHAHHAHA 1ST TIME I EVER COPY & PASTE/ BUT THAT WAS HILARIOUS! IF JAMARCUS SUCKS AGAIN ….. LIKE HE COULD POSSIBLY NOY SUCK/

You’re ranting and raving like a lunatic! I can just imagine you hunched over your Apple Macintosh, soiled boxer shorts, munching on a day old Hot Pocket frantically cut and pasting the Raider’s win/loss record for the 37th day in a row.
I can only imagine how many voices you’ve got yapping at you in your old head.
Old goat, you’ve got to get over it. You’re a creepy old freak who imagines he can influence the Raiders front office through mass blog postings, and that you have an actual chalet in Switzerland.
Reality and court records can easily prove both are false.
Krappy, put down the Benadyrl and get in that darn shower you old sack of dirt!

Oh, yeah, KK — You’re the ONLY ONE in here who cares about winning. Hahahahahaha…choke, cough…hahahahahaha. And…you’re an “oldskool diehard?”
KK — You are the WORST possible example of being an old school diehard on this blog…you are a disgrace to old school diehards everywhere. You show no loyalty to “your” team — just a fixation on blaming Al Davis for every single one of your city’s and/or county’s failings. You can’t even support the PLAYERS on “your” team (unless he’s of a certain, umm, make-up – ya know what I mean?)…you even advocate for boycotts of games and merchandise and such — and yet, you call yourself a die-hard.
What died hard, a long time ago, was any spirit you had for life, KK. So, you spend every spare minute right here (and then, you make more spare minutes to stay even longer). Cuttin’ n’ pasting the same tired stuff we ALL know, but you think only you can see the light. Then, the time spent cuttin’ n’ pasting big words from smart people you quote (and then fail to cite — like YOU actually wrote such big words and formulated such thoughts — that’s aka PLAGIARISM, you poseur). Quite a fulfilling life you’ve got there.
The Old School has expelled you, KK. Even a note from your wife won’t get you back into class (like you had any in the first place).
It’s a GREAT day to be a Raiders fan! Isn’t it?!

REPOST for Rachocrap:
O.K. Dumbass. . . (a.k.a. Richocrap). . . .
You asked someone else to name you 5 things Cable does well:
1. Cable is blunt with his players. If you suck, he tells you suck. When Michael Huff sucked last year, Cable benched him. And that’s made him a better player today. Cable let the $30 million dollar QB have ample opportunity to prove himself (which he never did). And then he pulled the plug on him. Whether or not this was done with the owner’s consent is irrelevant. The point is that he has more clout with the owner than any Raider coach since Gruden. And Jerry has pointed this out to your pee-sized brain on numerous occasions. There are numerous examples of this and I’m not gonna waste another paragraph citing examples for you.
2. Cable wants to be a Raider. He respects what the Raiders are all about and is fully aware of the wacky ways of the owner. You can minimize this all you want, but, frankly – it’s a big deal. If you don’t acknowledge that, you’re an idiot. (of course, this is no news to anyone)
3. The team has finished the season with desire and effort each of the previous 2 seasons. A head coach has one fundamental role on any football team and that is to manage 53 different personalities and keep a team focused until the end. Shortcomings of talent or players simply playing like crap (i.e. Russell) is not in the head coach’s power. I’ll be the first to say that effort should be inbred in every single professional athlete. But, as we’ve seen in years past, that hasn’t been the case around here. None of the coaches between Gruden & Cable got that kind of effort from the players at the end of the season.
4. Play calling. You wanna laugh? Go ahead and laugh dumbass. Transfer all the plays Cable called this year to the Saints or Colts or any of the “respectable” teams and those play calls would have led to success. Was Cable a bit too ambitious given the QB he had to work with? Sure. But you can only dumb down your offense so much. At some point, players have to get it done and they did not. Don’t blame that on the coach. I’ll criticize a guy for being way too conservative, but, not for being ambitious. (i.e. 4 pass plays from the 2 yard line). Guess what – if one of those 4 passes is completed by the QB, we don’t have this conversation.
5. Handled all the crap that was thrown at him this year (some deservedly, some not) with minimal-to-no distraction to his players. He kept his focus on his team, without ever snapping at the media and without losing focus on his players. Players see that and as a result, form a tighter bond with their coach. Sappy? Yeah, whatever – that’s the truth.
By the way, did I mention you’re a dumbass?

Free thought? legions of horses couldn’t pull a free thought out of most human skulls. Don’t confuse loose thoughts as free thinking.

The Problem With Raider Fans:
Never Worship A Mortal God.
Raiders fans are famously attached to their team. They’re also notoriously detached from reality. After another subpar season in Oakland, the local faithful are still praying for deliverance—which would be better news if Al Davis were a deity worth appealing to.
Devotion means holding to a steady course.
Delusion, on the other hand, means clinging to a sinking ship.
I’m not suggesting that the Raiders won’t ever turn it around. What goes down must come up, and sooner or later the club is bound to experience a renaissance. But a body can’t be reborn when its head refuses to die. In a league where ownership rights extend to the grave, only the most starry-eyed fan would bet on recovery before Al finally runs himself into the ground.

RICHOCHET: in other words, YOU’RE AN IDIOT. That was some of the dumbest calls ON THE PLANET..4 passes? WHEN THE PASSING GAME SUCKS? When you have Bush ready? and you’re ok with that?
GUESS WHAT, MORON..even Al knows HE SUCKS AT CALLING PLAYS..even Cable ADMITTED HE SUCKS AT CALLING PLAYS AND WILL GIVE IT UP..but here you are..not saying he’s GOOD..but that while the calls were bad, no qb could have been successful…playing…the team Cable put on the field??
And you don’t see the irony of your comment?
that the HC’s plays couldn’t work because the HC didn’t have the right players out there, performing as a head coach SHOULD have their players performing?
No one called plays any worse than Cable and here you are listing his play calling as ONE OF THE THINGS HE DID RIGHT AS A HEAD COACH? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??

Different factors work for different people/players.
I also understand how people can misunderstand it.

Very impressed with the Tebow interview on NFL Network.
Says the right things…and I believe him. Intensity, willingness to compete, willingness to learn, willingness to get better.
Proud of his past at Florida…talks about listening to coaches etc…
Whoever drafts this kid is going to get a “very coachable” player that will improve.
Meanwhile in the mess that is Oakland…….
January 26th, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Yeh, let’s draft Tebow. He says the right things. Never mind that he only threw a total of 10 passes throughout his college career, and is a noted crybaby… he says the right things.

You rip the guy because he doesn’t publicly rip into his players? How do you know what he does or says behind the scenes you ignorant pile of crap?
RICHOCHET: I rip the guy because he DOESN’T GET IN THEIR FACES EVEN IN PRIVATE..Russell proved that. Russell’s comments made it very clear NO ONE EVER TOLD HIM HE WASN’T PLAYING UP TO PAR..ever.
Hell, what HEAD COACH IN THE LEAGUE just stands there on the sideline, like he’s dead? No emotion? Never saying a word to anyone? ANYONE???? Blankly stupidly staring..trying to figure out..”omg..what play do I call”?
Want to know WHY HE’S SO EMOTIONLESS? Because he, AND THE TEAM knows he’s not in charge.

January 26th, 2010 at 5:23 pm
Frank, that comment about your mom was not offensive, just like your point about Russell wasn’t racist. Remember, I said *maybe* your mother would die choking on a John’s sperm, just as you said *maybe* Russell will only be motivated by a black coach. I was wrong to call you a racist for that. Just as you are wrong for assuming I’m being rude or anything for bringing up the possibility of your mother choking on a john’s sperm. I said “maybe”, so it doesn’t count.

I DIDN’T SAY we should draft him. The Raiders should never draft a QB again. The organization and philosophy makes developing a QB damn near impossible.
With that said, I haven’t seen enough of Tebow to know all the ins and outs…but in his interview with Mayock and co…smarter than anyone in the Raider organization…Tebow said the right things and answered all the questions about getting better, working harder and loving to compete.

Tebow has rough first day at Senior Bowl
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 25, 2010 7:53 PM ET
Already tired of Favre Watch 2010? Then can I interest you in a little Tebow Watch?
We pass along reviews of Tebow’s first day at Senior Bowl practice with the knowledge that the buildup to the NFL Draft will be a long one, with many ups and downs for Tebow. Monday was a downer.
Lindsay Soto on NFL Network: Tebow fumbled the first snap from center, then botched roughly 5-6 more during the day. Tebow is used to playing out of shotgun.
Chris Mortensen on Twitter: “First impression from NFL folks on Tebow at Senior Bowl — it is indeed going to be a challenging process for him.”
Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times: “I’m on the sideline at the Senior Bowl practice and let’s just say Tim Tebow is not exactly lighting it up. Horrible mechanics and accuracy.”
Tebow will get a chance to rebound in the next three days of practice on NFL Network.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
don’t we already have a QB who can’t take snaps from under center ???
i’m just amazed at all the Tebow love on here…
watching him play is strange… the way he hands off… the way that whole offense worked…
in the pros… Tebow will be occasionally handing the ball off to a DT… yes, a DT… because he’s in a shotgun… and then runs toward the line of scrimmage with the ball and hands off just prior to reaching the LOS… very strange… and it won’t work in the pros…
yes, he won… a lot… but the training he received at the college level will not translate well to the pros…
January 26th, 2010 at 5:45 pm
Florida Pete,
All I am saying is the kid has a great attitude, that’s all. His interview was pretty good as well. I am sure the scouts will do their homework on him.
Regardless, the Raiders are going to draft a freekn receiver or cornerback and continue their annual tradition of getting pounded into fine dust by opposing offenses

January 26th, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Hell, maybe Tebow is the pick. All the scouts and pundits said JaDavis had the ultimate physical attributes…that assessment was incomplete..
Maybe the same scouts are equally wrong about Tebow’s lack of capability….
I don’t know….a team that is pinning its hopes on JaDavis Russell and Bruce Gradkowski has no room to critique anybody

LOL. This is so funny. Al Davis really did hire Jackson to develop Russell. And as much as I’d like to pass off most of the commenters here as lay trolls, you have to notice most of the noted Davis worshipers making the point that a black coach is needed to motivate Russell. If that’s really what Al’s trying to do, my goodness. This confirms Tim Brown’s charges, and then some. Doesn’t even want a black head coach, other than his puppet shell. Wants a white guy in charge, yet a black assistant to keep the blacks in line. Unbelievable. I just hope it’s not true.

January 26th, 2010 at 6:15 pm
Those who can’t remember old defeats are doomed to repeat them.
Those who can’t forget old victories are doomed to romanticize them.
If there’s a lesson in the Raiders’ recent struggles, it’s simply that sentimentality is an inevitable impediment to success.
Nostalgia is the mother of fanaticism. In adulthood as in youth, in lean years as in fat—we root for the home team because rooting for the home team is what we’ve always done, and because what we’ve always done is the essence of who we’ve always been.
The catch, alas, is that heroes in the rearview mirror are rarely as mighty as they appear. Lifelong Raider lovers will argue that Davis is responsible for the organization’s historical grandeur. I’d counter that he’s no less culpable for its contemporary gloom.
Decline is bad.
Stagnation is worse.
January 26th, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Guys, anyone who just accepts the chaos that’s become of this team and has chosen to just laugh at the weekly train wrecks is going to get their fill this season. What problem could Al possibly have with the playcalling, if he hires a new OC, yet keeps Russell? Considering Cable’s balanced approach, this would have to mean Al wants to throw the ball more. What a disaster that will be! We’re going to have Russell drop back and throw downfield more. We might honestly go 0-16 this year. If it wasn’t for Cable’s balanced approach, you can toss out all 5 of our wins this year. It’s the only good thing about him. It would be nice if he didn’t hit women, and also had the balls to play whoever he wanted, as well.

Reverence ought always to come with an expiration date. Altars are built but to crumble; idols are raised but to fall. The real problem with Oakland Raiders fans is that they’re living in the past, where memories are golden and greatness is Silver and Black.
Every true believer initially commits himself to heavenly excellence. The one who swears by a perishable savior ultimately condemns himself to earthly decay.
*
Horace didn’t survive long enough to see the Tom Cable Era, but he certainly knew a thing or two about terminal degeneration:
What does ravaging time not ruin?
The age of our fathers, worse than the one before,
brought forth ourselves, worse men than our fathers,
who will beget offspring more vicious still.
Which is a fitting ode to a forlorn franchise.
Because one century’s swaggering conqueror is the next century’s still-breathing corpse, and anyone who foretells future glory for Raider Nation is either giving Al’s eulogy or only just saying, is all…

Well I’m stoked to have Hue Jackson as an Offensive Coordinator but I’m unsure of how effective hes going to be. Its really going to depend a lot on who the QB is going to be. Jackson has not had favorable situations as an OC with 2 other teams and if Jamarcus starts or any other scrub for that matter, that only puts Jackson in another messed up situation. The fact is, we need to find a real QB if we want to have any kind of success. Gradkowski was good but theres no guarentee hes going to be just as good or even healthy for that matter.
If McNabb is the best QB on the market, then so be it. Just get the best guy we can.

Never said I drank the Al Davis Kool-Aid. far from it. however you have to get it into that walnut size brain of yours that every great teams go through down times. Packers of the 70’s/80’s. Steelers of the 80’s, Niners, most of the time except the Montana/Young era. hell even the Lions used to be respecatble. It goes in cycles…
=========================
You’re confused.
Steelers of the 80’s? lol…their was no steelers of the 80’s..that was the 70’s.
Niners owned the 80’s.
Niners won more games than any other team in the 90’s.
As far as the “down” period.
You’re right.
Only problem is with the Raiders they haven’t tasted glory in over a QUARTER OF A CENTURY.
Let’s put it this way..last time Al hoisted the trophy, CD’s hadn’t been invented. Guy named Reagan was running the country.
In other words, it’s been one hell of a “down time” wouldn’t you say?

Free Agency in the NFL started in 1989 with Plan B. It marked a new way of operation for NFL teams.

why are folks so pationate about who is calling the plays and yet no one talks about who designs the plays and who develops the scheme….
seems to me the problem was not calling them….but design and scheme….you hear teams run certain plays at points during the season to setup another play much later in the season against a specific opponent….i seriously doubt cable does that….he managed to only design one play where mcfadden doesnt run between the tackles…mcfadden should be used the way we used charlie garner…..why cant we come up with an offensive formation that gets bush and mcfadden on the field the same time…i just dont get it….and thats why cable should not be HC….i think cable would be an excellent GM for the raiders(no other team)…which essentially would be doing whatever davis tells him to do….this way we will have someone who works in the day til davis open the crypt at sunset

I honestly believe that if Davis was the true mind behind the ’70s team, he would be able to muster up one winning season every few years. 7 straight years of sucking? No way. How hard is it for someone who’s already succeeded? It’s not like you forget how to build a football team. Bottom line: Al never knew how. And took credit for others building his teams.

no…it’s all in your approach. You at least write, as opposed to cutting and pasting. And it isn’t kissing ass…it’s reality. But I still contend that every team has downsloping trends. The raiders are in the worst kind. However, fortunes always change. Noone stays at the top forever. Al davis should have given up the team before he moved back to Oakland. Or at least hired a true GM. it’s nice to look back on what was, butwith good comes bad, and you have to look at the history as a whole…not pick and choose what suits a particular argument.

Great post on the 5 things Cable has done well. While I would not confuse Cable with Vince Lombardi, he has had to put up with a really terrible under performing QB that he has probably been forced to play. A sixth thing he did well is he attracted two decent real grown up Coordinators with Marshall and Jackson. I do not think the Raiders will improve much until Al delegates though. He needs to find some good people and begin to let go and let them make the decisions because there is no way an 80 year old who is battling various ailments can keep up with the demand of evaluating talent properly. Secondly the “I can always go to the real boss syndrome is not a healthy atmosphere for buiding good team chemistry.
Like K Kell has said AD is the common denominator in all the losing since 2002.

the Raiders wanted to get McFadden, and Bush on the field at the same time but Bush didn’t want any part of it as for it to happen,Bush would have to line up at FB.pretty novel concept right-McFadden at HB,Bush at FB.In that alignment McFadden could be utilized many different ways and Bush could be the primary RB.

Raider Nation, wake up… the Hue Jackson hiring means another 5-11 season… it means a season of trying to make Rusell into a NFL qb… it means playing out the season waiting for Rusell to show signs of improvements under Jackson, while the whole team suffer loss after loss… and looses moral…

How is it that people say that in the good Raider years it’s all because of Ron Wolf, Bruce Allen, Gruden, Madden, etc. deserve all the credit. And in the bad years Al Davis deserves all the blame?
I remember Ron Wolf telling a story about how he wanted to draft some guy who went on to a modest career while Al Davis wanted to draft Gene Upshaw with the same pick. We all know how that worked out.
Yes, the last 7 years have been brutal. You want to blame Al? Blame him for not finding a top-notch QB since Gannon retired. This league is all about the QB position right now and we’ve had a horrendous parade of guys at that position in the last 7 years. Put Peyton Manning on the Raiders this year and we would’ve been at least 12-4. Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers and several other top QBs would’ve had us in the playoffs.

Dude,
Hue Jackson doesn’t seem like anything special to me. He’s just another re-tread OC. He’s no better than Tom Cable. Where has he gotten great results?
The best thing about the hiring is that it just brings a fresh set of eyes to the offence.
Perhaps Cable and Jackson can bounce more ideas off each other, and come up with a solid game plan each week.
Otherwise, I’m just not impressed so far.
My guess, is that he got the job because he told Al Davis what he wanted to hear. That he could fix JaMarcus. a.k.a. Al’s pet.
January 26th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
LOL!
You’ve seen the quote from Jackson a thousand times saying the entire offense needs to play better around Jamarcus.
It’s pretty simple that our offensive line was horrible ALL YEAR and worse BY FAR without Gallery in there.
DHB as a starter was laughable and Murphy was, well a rookie early in the year. JLH and Chaz were HURT and didn’t START until after the QB change!
Not one person disputes any of this, but it laughable when the new OC points it out? It’s an excuse for the QB? No, those guys were awful. You may not like that Russell said it, the players may not like he said it but him saying doesn’t make it NOT TRUE!
The thinking that Jamarcus Russell is the only STARTER on the team that had SEVERE issues doesn’t make since.
January 26th, 2010 at 9:59 pm
Chris in NY,
I agree that you can’t rip on Al for the bad teams of today without giving him credit for the great teams of the past.
Clearly his formula had great success early on, but the NFL game has changed, and Al has not. It’s that stubborness that drives people mad, because he refuses to change his way of thinking, and continue to put a winning team on the field.

DE, O?
I think Seymour and Shaugnessy will be doing things for a while. Wonder if Wauffle brings any guys from the NY Dline with him?
January 26th, 2010 at 10:02 pm
Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
Williams has continued to ride the momentum from his solid senior season to push himself into first-round consideration. The Vols’ star is adept at creating penetration up the gut, and his ability to chase down backs from the backside disrupts the flow of the running game. With Williams flashing dominant ability at the point of attack, it is not a surprise that his stock is shooting up the charts in the eyes of evaluators.
===================================================
What did I say three days ago. And some of you want “Mountain of Sh**” Cody who came in to the Senior Bowl 45 lbs overweight even tho he played his last game just three weeks prior. Just what we need another fat fukk who is too fat to play late in games. With the game on the line, that fat fukk Cody would disappear into fat air.

ChrisinNY,
Thank you for giving us the one example of when Al was right and one of his personnel guys were wrong.
And, we’re 12-4 with Peyton Manning? Are you insane? With our offensive line? With our junior receiving corp. (that could have gotten an injection of legitimacy with the drafting of Crabtree)?
Riddle me this. Just how would Peyton Manning deal with a situation involving his head coach punching an assistant, and a bunch of knucklehead, unfocused teammates having nothing more to say about it than, “Cable, bumaye!”? I can tell you how. He’d quit. Flat out. He’d just fake an injury and sit his 2 or 3 dreadful years here, while keeping word out around the league on the sly that he was fine and would be ready to go for any suitors as soon as he’s paroled from NFL’s Siberia.
Peyton Manning is as Rich Gannon as it gets when it comes to the approach to not only the game, but practice and the overall work environment at team headquarters, as well. Manning would take a pipe bomb to this place.
And, the sentiment would not be far different from QBs like Romo and Brees. They would come here and just sulk, cursing their agent for allowing them to wind up here.
And, this is all considering we had an offensive line and any kind of timing and cohesiveness in our offense to begin with (two things Al Davis doesn’t believe in btw, as if the obstacle to the Raiders being good again could get any higher…). We don’t. Look at what happened to Gradkowski, who is a tough kid and has a decen pocket presence. He got slaughtered. Same with Frye. Losman too? I don’t even remember what happened to him. Maybe he wisely fled the team after Frye got his spleen snapped, knowing he was next to walk the plank.
Protecting the quarterback is just about the lowest priority for Al Davis. Peyton Manning would be so critical of this team he’d make Sapp and Gannon look like George Atkinson and Bill Romanowski.

Like I said, never underestimate the ego of a coach. Of course they all think they can fix Jamarcus. Not sure how many of think they can get him to listen, but I guarantee you if you ask them they will say “of course, if he listens to what I tell him.”
January 26th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
If JusFkdus Russell starts next season the Raiders will be 4-12 or worse.
You can bet the team will turn on Cable if JusFkdus is forced into the lineup.
The guy needs to do us all a favor and retire.
Russell is a piece of sh*t!

Listening to jackson talk about getting jamarcus russel to play better and mentioning the other players on offense need to step up (sounding just like jamarcus) it ticked me off. Because its clear to see that jamarcus is the weakest link and no one on this team is making him play like ish but himself. The recievers and tightends seemed to be pretty serviceable when the other qbs were in, but with jamarcus in the offense is just terrible. The raiders need to stop babying jamarcus and just tell him the truth and make him get off his lazy ass.):
————————-
Wow. That sounds bad.JaBigMac is clearly problem No. 1 right now. And he needs to know that. He still believes this nonsense and this only feeds the idea that he should just keep doin’ what he’s doin’ and blame everyone else for the fact that he only led the offense to 8 TDs all season (rushing and passing combined) while turning the ball over 17 times all by himself.
Where can I find this interview?
============================================
WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS THINKING? Hue Jackson would have absolutely TERRIFIED ME if he said, yeah, the problem was Russell and everyone else played hecka good!
See, that’s the difference between guys that actually know football and 95% of the people on this blog. Let’s break it down for you guys:
LT=sucked. LG=sucked C=sucked RG=sucked RT=sucked TE=decent. F=sucked SE=sucked+ Q=sucked Q2=ok Q3=sucked RB1=sucked RB2=sucked+ RB3=sucked FB=sucked. Any of this NOT right?
January 26th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Peyton Manning has Reggie Wayne on one side of the field, and Dallas Clark.
DHB and Murphy did not have those type of “decoys” to draw coverage their way.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
Seen some mocks on here and on the internet that had us taking Dexter McCluster RB from Ole Miss. That dude is the closest thing to Chris Johnson in football. If we got him Fargus or Bush will be gone for sure. And DMAC’s clock will start ticking.
Also saw an interview of Jason Pierre-Paul. You guys thought JaMarcus isn’t motivated since the signing bonus, wait till you see this guy. Google his name and watch some interviews. With millions in his pocket, he comes off as a dude that would quit at any time.

Austen lane is 6′6 265+ from Murray state. Had 19 TKFL and 11 sacks. Had 23 sacks and 41 TFL in 2 years. Runs a sub 4.7.

Have any of you realistically digested Jackson’s hiring today? We have Hackett, who is a decent playcaller. Why wasn’t he calling plays to begin with? Why was Cable ever handed those reigns? Somebody wants to run the vertical game, that’s why. I keep hearing in here that Jackson said all of the right words to win Al over. Let me tell you what those right words were: “Yes, I’ll take the buck for Russell”. Bottom line is, if you can’t get the game into Russell’s hands, or if you do and he doesn’t succeed? You’re gone. With such organizational chaos, you can put any QB in our starting lineup, and Al will find a way to keep this team below the 5 win mark.

Sorry I missed both your posts.
-I think we should move Seymour inside fulltime.
- Micah will be ready for pro days but not the combine. I’m not sure about walter, but he only played 4 games this season but should be ready. It was a sprained knee.

Yeah, we know about your selective reading Lefty when it comes to the anchor.
I said only starter with SEVERE issues.
The mere comment of the new OC stating that it’s not just about Jamarcus but the entire offense needs to steps up starts all the I hate our QB talk. Same stuff we heard about Gallery and Huff until they produced.
8 bad games by the ENTIRE offense, not just Russell. Pretty plain to see that with so many CHANGES happening.

#336, that’s the bad news. The Good news is there are some players there. If Rob Gallery can come back healthy, and that is a big if, that would be a huge help. Murphy had a decent rookie season. Shilens looks like a player. So Does Mike Bush. Zach Miller IS a player. Mario Henderson has hope altho more likely on the right side. So we really just need a couple of offensive linemen to come in and help get this thing on the right track. But Hue Jackson is right. EVERYONE on offense needs to step their game up. Or get the fukk out!

Now back with the ‘It’s NOT JR..it’s EVERYONE” crap.
Yeah..when you have an offense that played as bad as the Raiders did this year, easy to make a blanket statement regarding everyone needs to step it up….HOWEVER, ONLY ONE PLAYER ON THE OFFENSE CAME INTO CAMP, ADMITTEDLY, OUT OF SHAPE.
Just one.
Same guy also came into camp STILL NOT KNOWING THE PLAYBOOK.
Only one player on the team..JUST ONE..doesn’t know the whole play book..
Only one player on the team, when questioned after a really REALLY bad game, stated he was very satisfied in his play, and that it wasn’t him that was the problem, that it was the “receivers weren’t where I threw the ball..they’ll get better”
Only one player, after a whole SEASON of playing like crap, when asked about if he was worried about being replaced, stated ‘oh, no…I know my position. I know I’m the future”..just A WEEK BEFORE HE DID GET BENCHED.
And they’re all THE SAME GUY..RUSSELL.

January 26th, 2010 at 10:36 pm
Wassup Armond!
But …
We just know that’s not going to happen. Seymour will not play DT full time, and I just can’t see Al cutting his project Kelly when he had a pretty productive year.
I think what’s probably more realistic, and pretty appealing if you ask me, is putting a fat guy next to Kelly and moving Warren to the backup spot. Keep Seymour and Shaugnessy on the edge, but move him inside in certain situation.
I think my point is why restrict Seymour to the inside? Let him move inside when the fat guy we draft has to come out of the game.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:37 pm
This might be a good year for us to trade down like Chris in NY is saying because we don’t have a lst rounder next year, and possibly Sam Bradford and/or Jimmy Clausen could be on the board when we choose. There are a handful of teams that might make that move including Carolina, Minnesota, Jacksonville, maybe one or two others.

I know Gerhart isn’t a need pick but that guy impressed the hell out of me this season. I went heavy on Oklahoma in their bowl game vs. Stanford because I figured without Andrew Luck to throw it, OK’s formidable front 7 would eat up Gerhart and shut down Stanford. Instead, Gerhart plowed through them and almost singlehandedly kept Stanford in it. He’s faster than people think and with tremendous power and balance. A lot like HOFer John Riggins or Jamaal Anderson of the 1990s Falcons.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Raider O,
You may be right. Neal could go higher. And I still suspect Gerhart will go in the top-half of Round 2 also. But I have no way of knowing for sure so the projected availability is based on CBSsports’ NFLDraftScout player rankings.
Northern D,
I said to trade down to mid-1st and take Iupati there. However, the trick with him is that he projects as a guy who can definitely play OT in the NFL. He’s 6-6, 330 with extraordinarily quick feet and long arms. That’s tackle material. So I actually wouldn’t mind taking him at No. 8 either.

you put Gerhart and McFadden on the field at the same time, like they wanted to do with Bush, and you move McFadden around causing matchup problems.Gerhart becomes the primary ball carrier and McFadden is used as he should be in various roles.

Ray-it was better without Cody.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:54 pm
Jhill,
I’d send Fargas on his way. Hopefully get something in trade for him even if only a late-round pick. Nothing against Fargas, but he’s a 30-year-old RB making a pretty large amount of money in a crowded backfield with guys with more upside. Gerhart just looks like a guy with a good chance to be great that I couldn’t pass up in Round 3 if he somehow fell there.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:55 pm
Gerhart at FB? Or RB2?
Are you guys really that down on Bush? I thought he was the guy everyone wanted to see get 20 carries? Are we already off of him too?
January 26th, 2010 at 10:55 pm
Chris in NY,
I’m just trying to keep in mind how Al likes to draft.
The bad thing is, the Raiders almost never move down in the draft, always up. I can’t remember the last time they traded back.
I realize guards are important, but they’re not as valuable as a tackle. Tackles get paid big bucks, so why spend money on a guard when you don’t have to.
Iupati is valuble because teams can project him out to be a left tackle, like Brandon Albert at KC.
I hope they would look at the legit LT’s first.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
How about seeing if we can get back to McFadden/Bush like we saw on opening night? We abandoned that attack after week 1.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
Aaron Kampman from the Packers is a guy who doesn’t fit their 4-3 and could become available via trade. Not sure what it would take. At least a 3rd and quite possibly more. Proven pass rushers are a valuable commodity.
January 26th, 2010 at 10:59 pm
Correction: Kampman doesn’t fit their 3-4. He’s a very good 4-3 DE.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:00 pm
I hear you Chris.
I was all for trading Bush last offseason since I knew he would play. Imagine how good that #2 from Tampa would have looked this year for a 3rd sting RB.
Not going to get much for Fargas though. He’s a damn good backup to have on the team though. No problem with him sticking around as a #3.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
McFadden/Bush and Fargas are good enough. More help is needed elswhere.
RB, S, TE and K’s are set.
RG, RT, MLB and DT need to be fixed.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
to get the best out of McFadden ,imo,we need to play a two back system.you can call them HB-FB or RB1-RB2.Bush wouldn’t do that when asked to last year which ,imo,is the main reason he didn’t see as much playing time as most believe he should.I have to believe Gerhart wouldn’t balk at the idea.

you put Gerhart and McFadden on the field at the same time, like they wanted to do with Bush, and you move McFadden around causing matchup problems.Gerhart becomes the primary ball carrier and McFadden is used as he should be in various roles.
=================================================
Exactly. Or put Bush and Gerhardt in the backfield and you have 500+ lbs of backs headed your way, either of which can run or catch. The odd man out wouldn’t be Fargas, McFadden or Bush. It would be Luke Lawton.
My Mock Draft
1st Round: Okung OT OK State(probably gone) McClain ILB Alabama
2nd Round: Pouncey OL Florida or Asomoah OL ILL or if available Golden Tate WR
3rd Round: Bowman OLB Fla St (probably gone) Gerhardt RB Stan
3rd Round B: Kareem Jackson CB Alabama or Lamarr Houston DT Texas
After that it depends on which of these guys we actually landed.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:05 pm
McFadden in a two back set. Then send him in motion or line him up in the slot.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:05 pm
JHill,
I still like Bush and McFadden. I just think you don’t pass up on talented players. You’ve gotta factor in need but balance it with taking the best players available and worrying about hammering out the depth chart later.
Gerhart is not a FB. He’s a legit HB. People only suggest that because he’s big and white and a white HB is an extreme rarity in the NFL right now.
HB and FB are completely different positions. That’s why it was silly for Cable to ask Michael Bush to play FB. FB is more like being a middle linebacker than it is like being a halfback.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:05 pm
You think Cable held the not wanting to play FB for Kiffin thing against Bush? FB is much different than the RB1-RB2 you suggest. I think Bush would have been down for that from day 1.
You can tell by the way Bush runs why he didn’t want to play FB. He pisses me off with his twinkle toes act. Run somebody over already!
January 26th, 2010 at 11:10 pm
LOL!
I’m not from the camp that believes white cats can’t play skill positions or black cats can’t play QB.
Just think it might be wise to move Bush if we lucked up and got Gerhart. We could dangle Bush to GB for their fat guy Jolley. Raji is going to start next year.
LOL at a fat guy named Jolley!
January 26th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
The one player I would love to see the Raiders take at 8 is McLain. He’s a soild run stuffer with good size.
But there’s two red flags that may keep him from being taken. First, he’s playing behind Cody, who eats up a lot of the blocking in front of him.
Secondly, he may not run a fast enough forty for Al to buy in.
(three flags) Al has never picked a LB that high. Napoleon Harris was the last one, and beofre that was Rob Fredrickson. ( as I recall)
January 26th, 2010 at 11:12 pm
Jhill, agree about the way he runs.Maybe,as i said earlier,if the had put it to Bush that they wanted a RB1-RB2 system he would have gone for it.Regardless,i do think the organization(the old man) held that against him. When L.Walker was asked to play guard he said he never played it before and thought of himself as a tackle, but the next game he started at RG-took one for the team!
January 26th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
LG-sorry
January 26th, 2010 at 11:15 pm
The issue with McClain is his football IQ if off the charts. He is one smart dedicated guy. Just what we need around here.
I agree with you Chris that Gerhardt is a legitimate HB AND HB and FB are not the same positions. The thing tho, is having say both of them in the backfield or Gerhardt and McFadden in the backfield, there is just SO MUCH
January 26th, 2010 at 11:15 pm
You could do not in the traditional sense.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:15 pm
Gerhart reminds me too much of Ron Dayne.
Wisconsin may be good at turning out bruiser RB’s who don’t pan out in the NFL. Nebraska was famous for that in the 80’s.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
They haven’t had major issues with the running game, so getting a RB with a high pick seems like a waste.
And wasting draft picks, is something that Al would never do…
January 26th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
if we did somehow draft Gerhart we would finally have a back that could get us those short yardage carries we now always seem to fail on.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
Don’t forget the Old Man talking about how he wanted more power running from Bush. I think the Tampa game pretty much threw all that out the Window.
I don’t know why, but we started the season pounding the ball with Bush and McFadden just like we’re talking about. So what McFadden fumbled at the 50 yd line in the SD game. Keep feeding them man!
January 26th, 2010 at 11:21 pm
BTW,
Anyone else think the Saints getting as many as 6 points is crazy? When I heard Sunday night that the Colts were installed as 3.5 point favorites I rushed to get a bet in before I assumed they would drop to just a 3 point favorite. When I went to place the bet it was Colts -5 so I jumped on it even more thinking it would come down in a hurry. But it’s gone the other way. What’s going on? I know Manning’s the most famous player in the game but I feel like the Saints might have the better team.
The only good teams the Colts blew out this year were the Cardinals in Week 3 (the Saints beat them by more in the Divisional round of the playoffs) and the Ravens and their extremely banged up QB in the playoffs.
Remember how much trouble the Colts had beating the Pats? The Saints beat them by about 20.
In addition to the Pats, the Saints have also blown out the Giants, Jets, Eagles and Cardinals this season (among some other bad teams) while starting 13-0 before losing by 7 to a peaking Dallas team. I pretty much discount the last two games of the season for them when they had nothing to play for and were coming off the letdown of losing their perfect season.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
The short yardage difficulties have so much to do with our Oline, IMO.
Baltimore game, 2nd half, 3rd and 1, Cornell Green gets knocked 3 yds backwards into the FB and Bush, on comes Lechler.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
get ready for a power running game fellas Hue Jackson is a young version of Jimmy Raye.He wants to hit you in the mouth with that running and then trow it over your head when you comestcak it.
Now Cable can focus on fixing that Oline and if I’m right we wont be running the ZBS much longer I can almost gaurantee another physical LB and a OT and OC. And don’t be shocked if we get a HB in the 1st 3 rnds. We are going to pound the rock all day next year. I think they will ask Bush to get down to 240 his college wieght and make him the feature back.
This kid Dan Williams is very impressive. Jeff Byers at Og or C flashed some skills at the practice. I’m quite sure Hue Jackson has seen cutups of Russell adnauseum and has signed on to launch his career.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
wassup jhill! seymour wont be a fulltime dt just majority snaps there. we need spped bad on the edge opposite shawny/ellis. scott most likely will be the wklb which leaves a lot to wonder about morrison and howard. id like to see what fa we target and see if seymour can throw some shade the patriots way on wilfork.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:26 pm
NorthernD, Gerhardt and Ron Dayne are light years apart Dayne had one move…straight ahead. Gerhardt has great feet for a back that size quicker feet than most smaller backs. Gerhardt will run under 4.5 in the 40 Dayne ran 4.7 they couldn’t be more different.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
i may be wrong, but didn’t a poster on here say the old man wanted to see a more power running attack.Didn’t last year the old man say he wanted the training wheels taken off his prized young QB.It seems what the old fellow wants changes like the seasons.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
lefty is right about building the lines inside out. u have to control the middle of the field to dominate the lines. having your c and guards get pushed into the qb does no good to the offense. getting pressure up the middle can force the qb to run right into a sack near the tackles or run backwards to avoid the sack. all talk of guards and centers being taken too high is stupid. u mean to tell me jim otto isnt worth a top 5 pick looking back at his career?
January 26th, 2010 at 11:30 pm
I think as of right now, Langston Walker should be considered our starting RG for next season — pending competition to be added via the draft, free agency, etc.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
Chris in NY,
I know the superbowl is always refered to as amateur day in the betting circles. There’s probably a ton of money bet by people who never put a cent down on any other game.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
Armond the reason that you normally take Og and C’s later is that they are often easier to come by. OT’s are extremely hard to find while you can throw a dart at the board and get a OG. That’s why I was so down on Cable looking at the condition of the OG’s on the team it was a joke.
This Oline was of paramount concern and he let it slip and I’m telling you it is the sole reason he almost lost his job. We couldn’t run which is why we struggled so badly. He utilization of the 3 backs was atrocious. That’s before even looking at his play calling which was at times abizmal.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:34 pm
gerhardt has got suddle quickness and enuff speed to outrun guys. that 60 yard run he had against cal really impressed me. he also doesnt wear down late in games which is great. dude i believe is an all american cf in baseball too. u cant be that good and not be a terrific athlete especially at 235-240. i have no problem drafting him but what do we do with bush?

Physically they are different. I just think they both have benefitted from being in a good system. QB’s get over rated because of systems, RB’s can too.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:36 pm
But Tom Cable swears by Satele. I think Langston comes back at RG. Scary thing is Gallery and his back.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:38 pm
yeah but priest im talkin about special guards and centers like what we had in alex mack last year. imagine henderson gallery and mack on the left side for years to come.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:38 pm
Is Robert Gallery a bust?
Thought he might have on his way to reclamated after last year and turn into a Pro Bowl OG. Still a bit high to draft an OG where we took him.
Is there ANY chance he goes back to OT?
January 26th, 2010 at 11:39 pm
LT from Iowa Brian Bulaga is a player who start jumping up the draft boards soon.
Now before you freak out about another LT from Iowa. I heard a scout comparing Bulaga and Gallery. He said he hated Gallery and loves Bulaga.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:41 pm
He said he hated Gallery and loves Bulaga.
=================================
That sounds like he’s comparing cheese.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
I read where Gallery is progressing just fine and his injury should have no bearing on his ability to continue to play.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:42 pm
Langston Walker will be the ROG for this team unless we get a real gem. Walker career shou;ld really stabilize at that psoition similar to what happened with Gallery. We need a stud at RT and his name is Bulgara this kid is a player………….period.
Get Spikes in the or the kid from Kentucky in the 2nd. We have had great success at MLB in the mid rnds. But we need another HB to help that running game stay stable. We have 4 paicks in the first 100 players that is HUGE.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:45 pm
whats frustrating about russell is how slim he was in his high school youtube highlights. dude was looking like vince young movin around the pocket breakin off big runs and now look at him. anybody interested just check it out and youll see how mobile he is without a tire growing around his waist. no wonder they raved about his skill set aside from his arm strength. threw with touch and was pinpoint accurate. dont know how to post a link so yall just have to utube it yaself.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:45 pm
I’m not s sure Cable is that sold on Satele.Besides,if Davis decides to draft his next great center,Cable won’t have much say.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:47 pm
NorthernD the system didn’t make those players those players used the system it’s just that Dayne is a straight ahead runner like DMC Gerhardt has great feet and moves and great vision. I know HB’s better than any position and I’m telling you Gerhardt will be a star…………..period
But there are some OUTSTANDING scatbacks in this draft like CJ Spiller and McKnight and McCluster. Thse are premium scatbacks and diffeerence makers on any team.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:51 pm
Priest,i’m sick and tired of these so called game breaker RBs.i want a horse-someone who can consistently keep the chains moving and eat clock. Then just maybe McFadden can show his supposed game breaking ability.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:57 pm
Armond, the different with Russell then and now has something t do with weight but IMO mostly to do with confidence in his ability to make decisions. That only comes with time at the posiition and that’s what fans don’t get. Playing at this level has more to do with confidence than anything. Untill he has some success over a stretch of games he will never get that confidence in his play. Once he gets that the rest will come it’s that simple.
January 26th, 2010 at 11:58 pm
Jhill,i know i am in the minority but i believe great Centers and guards are just as, if not more important, than tackles.Guards are the key to doing something you love-run the ball.they also can make an average Tackle look better than he is.look at great tackles and you’ll see very good to great guards next to them in most cases.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:01 am
Lefty12, w have a chain mover he never gets the ball to move the chains because we have a coach who has no clue how to use him…………period
Michael Bush is as good a back as there is in the league at moving the chains if he has a line to help him. But the coach has to show that he has confidence in him doing so. When your coach is QB sneaking it and your in the backfield or on the bench what does that tell that player? Cable is an aweful playcaller plain and simple.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:07 am
the QB is bigger than all the RBs.When your line is full of backups due to injuries it would seem that sneaking it is a good call-that is what other teams do.Also,Bush tippi-toes way too often to be a great short yardage runner.I’ve seen him stacked up at the line just as often ,if not more, than Fargas. As far as him not getting the ball,we have totally different views on why that happened and have discussed it before.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:07 am
Lefty12, the LT is the 2nd most important player on offense. OT’s are more importnat than interior lineman because they are much harder to find. You can get a flatout bust at OT and have a very good OG. It happens all the time OT’s are on an island similar to corners as opposed to SS or FS. A bad corner will get you killed a bad safety can be hid. Same as interior lineman.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:08 am
priest my point was pointing out how he went from a lanky highschool kid with athleticism to a fat qb that isnt as nimble now. it illustrates what people have been saying about him. that lack of work ethic is stopping HIM from showing how good he can be. even les miles was tellin him to be in shape for his workouts after the sugar bowl so that people can see he isnt some dummy with a big arm. i want him to succeed but he can be just as mobile as gradkowski if he lost a good chunk of weight. that utube video proves it.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:08 am
The really bad thing about building the Raiders back to championship form is that they wont be around here very long, whether Al owns them or taco bell owns them, they will head to the bigger market, and that aint Oakland………sadly……
January 27th, 2010 at 12:14 am
Armond I know of which you speak I studied the kid staright outta highschool. He will at times remind you of Randall Cunnigham when he was at 255. But he doesn’t run because he was told NOT TO. His weight is a definite problem I agree but it is also confidence. A lot of people don’t think Russell can move at 270 they are very wrong he can opbviously not as well if he were 255 but Russell has good mobility he just doesn’t use it. Why? I think it’s his confidence and the way he’s being coached.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:15 am
I disagree about LT being so important.Jones in Seattle was all world until Hutchinson went to Minn. where Mckenzie became an all pro when he arrived. In NY,Brickashaw went from just another guy to all pro with the arrival of Fanica.B.Simms,an avg. player at best, was better than avg. when Wiznewski was here.As soon as Wiz retired,Simms became everyones whipping boy.Great lines have very good to great guards.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:20 am
And Centers!
January 27th, 2010 at 12:27 am
Come on Priest.Russell may have been told not to take off running but you can’t say he hasn’t been told to move around behind the line and use pocket presence which he hasn’t shown the ability to do.He had what is considered 2 of the best QB coaches in the business. His problem is he hasn’t shown he has the dedication it takes to be a great QB.When his teammates and coaches call the guy out it isn’t everyone else,it is HIM.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:29 am
OK, let me explain it this way Lefty12, I can take a bad OT and he can be a great OG but you can’t go vice-versa. Get it it’s not that they aren’t as necessary butyou’ll go through 15 Olineman looking for a great OT while you can find a very good OG within 45 Olineman. Get it, it’s the degree of difficulty in playing one position over the other. What you are alluding to ins the breaking down of an Oline. If there is one weak link it makes everyone look bad. But I’m telling you OT will make twice as much as an OG and there is a very good reason for that. I remember we had a great OG in Upshaw but we became a great Online when Art Shell showed up. It’s because the OT’s play against much better athletes while interior lineman play against thick nonathletic big men. DE’s are 270lbs. and run 4.6 40 a OG rarely ever sees these guy’s.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:30 am
within 4 or 5 players to get a great OG. sorry!!
January 27th, 2010 at 12:34 am
Lefty12, I’m not going to discuss Russell with you because you are unreasonable.IMO he’s had thse guy’s for one year let’s see what happens when he’s had them for 3-4 years and developes under them the same way Peytn Manning did under his coaches. Yu guy’s want this kid to get this stuff instaneously and NO ONE does. He comes from a spread offense with wide open recievers this kid is doing fine under the circumstances he’s just young and inexperienced. But I know that goes right over your head.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:36 am
Priest i understand what you are saying, and partially agree.Great LTs are harder to find.however, give me a great guard and i can get by with an avg. tackle.Just look how Henderson wasn’t nearly as effective once Gallery went out.Tackles are paid more because they are harder to find, but guards ,imo, are just as important to your line.If you don’t have good guards you aren’t going to run the football.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:42 am
I mean I read your stuff Left about Russell and the meer fact that you actually blame this kid for our record shows you have no objectivity. You bought Cable’s lame ass excuse for not winning.
When that damn fool basically cost this team 2 -3 wins all by himself with his foolass playcalling.
Yes Russell struggled but who on this planet sisn’t think he would of curse he struggled it was Cable’s job to work around his struggles. And not ask him to carry this team, it was buffooonery at it’s best.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:42 am
that does not go over my head.I feel you are also unreasonable in evaluating Russell. So be it,and you are right,we shouldn’t discuss him due to the fact we see him so differently.BTW,i have always said we should hope he comes around due to the fact he wears the Raider uniform.I just don’t see it like you do.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:45 am
Lefty12, yu wnt get by with an average OT trust me your QB will get killed………..period
January 27th, 2010 at 12:49 am
i do blame him-he is the QB.When they win,he gets the credit. When they lose,he gets the blame. The part that pisses me off the most is his lack of dedication.Being late and missing meetings. Not telling his WRs they have to stay and work-those types of things.Granted he is young and maybe just doesn’t get it.It is also possible he will never get it-some don’t you know.If he isn’t ready, maybe he shouldn’t be playing.BTW,last year, you were the one complaining Lance wouldn’t turn him loose. Now you complain because Cable did just that.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:51 am
Seems we did all right with Barry Simms when we had Wiz. at LG. and Simms was avg. at best.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:56 am
Priest,as i said i know i am in the minority about the Oline but if you look at most of the great lines i believe you will see an outstanding LG is prevalent.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:57 am
it is late, talk to you later.
January 27th, 2010 at 12:58 am
You are right, I would much rather Lane Kiffin approach rather than Cable’s at least his assesment of Russell readiness was more accurate. The way he troew that kid in there with two rookies was in word derilect. Good coaches get the best out of their players he got nothing out of Russell and that so-called passing game he was putting way too much pressure on thse kids there was no way they could produce what he expected. A blind man could see that.
Yet week after week he kept doing it and when they couldn’t do it. He blamed Russell who was in no way ready for that agggressive a gameplan. Like the 1st play of the game pass play at our own 6 with a OT playing his 1st down of the year. That is INSANE.
he is very lucky he still has a job he called some crazy stuff and when it didn’t work he blamed the players.

January 27th, 2010 at 1:29 am
I want to see Gerhart go through the agility drills at the combine before I hop on the bandwagon. I still don’t see it as a need position though.
The Raiders were talking to another LB as well. I’d like to see them take McLain in the first, but they will probably draft more than one.

You’d have a good arguement when talking about Larry Allen and the Cowboys success.
A guard has to be more versatile than a T for sure. They have to be able to pull, trap, be quick enough to get on a LB, and strong enough to handle a DT or NT. A LT pretty much knows who he has to block, whereas the guard often changes after the snap because of stunts, etc.

Ryan Matthews>Toby Gerhart Great white hope won’t be shaking people in the NFL, I’m biased for sure being from Fresno but Matthews played with garbage QB and our mediocre HC and guy was unstoppable. 3 count em 3 60+yrd TD runs vs Boise with 9 guys in box damn near all the time . I take Matthews in 2rd because tired of 3 headed monster that 2 of them suck DMac,Fargas.

Somebody kept touting T. Smith (Jhill maybe?) and it could really happen now.

Remember two years ago when the Raiders went to Baltimore when Flacco was a rookie? Wasn’t that the game that both Flacco and Smith passed to each other on separate occasions and completed those passes? Troy Smith here could be interesting…
January 27th, 2010 at 6:08 am
If we are going to let Gradkwski, Frye, JaMarcus and Losman all compete for the starting job, I would love to have Troy Smith here to compete too.

January 27th, 2010 at 6:12 am
If we bring in Troy Smith I say cut Frye and Russell and let Smith Losman and Grads compete. Grads earned a shot, Losman never got a chance but he is definitely an intriguing possibility. Frye played all right (better than Russell for sure) but wouldnt outplay the other 3 in an open competition. Jamarcus has done nothing since winning the NFL lottery that would even make him worthy of being the BALL BOY on a team that I coached!

Post 12-21, somewhere in the Bardo, Yama, The Lord of Death presides over KK, MR and Lil’ Ricky
Yama – “So FoolKell…”
KK – “That’s KoolKell”
Yama (glaring) – “So, Fool, describe what you did in life.”
KK – “I hated an old man because his sporting franchise had a losing record over the course of some years.”
Yama – “And, what else?”
KK – “That’s it. But wait, I have a list of the won-loss record over a seven year period right here to prove it.”
Yama (disgusted) – “Next! So, MR, describe what you did in the life.”
MR – “I hated an old man who ran a sporting franchise.”
Yama (sneering) – ” This would be hatred for the same old man that Fool just mentioned.”
MR – “Yes. I hated that man so much that it was all I could think of 24/7.”
Yama – “I see. Did the old man ever do anything personally to you? Steal your sister? Kick your dog? Anything?”
MR – “Well, no. But his team lost many football games over a period of years, KK, where’s that list? But beyond that I just hated him because I hated him.”
Yama (weary) – “Next! So, Rico, describe what you did in the life.”
Lil’ Rico – “I tried to find fault with anyone and everyone. I hated everybody.”
Yama (staring daggers)- “And the reason for this pettiness…?
Lil’ Rico – “Well, you know, I could hide behind a computer where no one could see me and…”
Yama – “ENOUGH!! It is obvious that all three of you wasted your meagre lives concentrating upon hating others and specifically a single old man. Shameful, especially you Fool, as it was this same old man who had brought such joy to your youth.”
Yama takes a moment to consider the fates of the three.
The three, in turn congratulate themselves on being so righteous in their hatreds. After all, they do have a list.
Yama – “Here is your own judgement upon yourselves. Fool, for each time you posted your list of losing seasons you will be required to live as a small jungle rodent. Living in fear each moment of when you will be devoured, and all the snakes in the jungle will appear to you as the old man you hated so much. Come and see me again after a couple of thousand rodent lives.”
“MR. Your life sounds as if you were an insect caught in a roach motel. No way out of your own choice to enter the trap. But it appears that you just could not help yourself because of your own minimal capabilities, so by extenuation I will release you from the trap so to speak. Instead, your next 1,000 incarnations will be as a dung beetle rolling around balls of schit.”
“And finally, Rico. For you there is no hope, no reclamation, no furtherance. You are to be cast into the vastness of space for all time as a virus. A single viral capsule unable to replicate, unable to communicate, unable to find a host, unable to do anything excpt to drift endlessly alone in the silence accompanied solely by your own hatred.”
Yama, The Lord of Death, turns away from shreiks coming from the three. He is satisfied. Yama, is after all, a Raider fan.

January 27th, 2010 at 6:23 am
I hope Tebow gets drafted by the Vikings.
the Raiders will stick with Russell (the superior QB according to MR & Pete) and enjoy another 5-11 season and coaching change next offseason – if not sooner
I still don’t get how somebody could hate on a football player because of their religion. seems those are the same folks so touchy about race. bunch of hypocrit scumbags
guess what? Drew Brees & Peyton Manning are outspoken Christan guys too. the 2 best QB’s in the league. not to mention Kurt Warner & Matt Hasselbeck. this blog is full of trolls & idiots in the evenings I swear
January 27th, 2010 at 6:28 am
Good Morning M and Rockstar…
Yeah…there was a whole segment about Kurt Warner’s faith and why God has helped his decision to come back for another season…
What religion is Tebow?
January 27th, 2010 at 6:29 am
good morning Hwnrdr.
Tebow is a Christian. I just don’t get why that makes him a bad football player? why is that even in the conversation?
January 27th, 2010 at 6:31 am
Yeah….so what Tebow had a couple rough days. He’s hasn’t played 1 down in the nfl.But as we know all picks are not guaranteed to work-out.Tebow has flaws now but if I was a gambling man I know I sure wouldn’t bet against him.
January 27th, 2010 at 6:31 am
would anybody care if Stabler & Plunkett were catholic?
who gives a flip?
retards. thats who
January 27th, 2010 at 6:31 am
morning guys. Good conversation last night.
I’ve been looking at the 2 oregon players coming out. Neither in a position of need but interested where they go. L Blount and Ed Dickson. I guess there hasn’t been anyone at the senior bowl who’s been able to cover Dickson.
January 27th, 2010 at 6:34 am
Yeah, religion should have nothing to do with anything these days, but…in a world where people’s mistakes outweighs what they have done and accomplished…I guess that’s why people get no slack for who they are…
4eva…I am one who is still skeptical about Tebow in the NFL, but he does bring heart and a “want to be” attitude with him…so, I wouldn’t bet against him either!
January 27th, 2010 at 6:35 am

Where’s that Cowher story come from ?
January 27th, 2010 at 6:38 am
Hwnrdr, Rockstar,
I don’t think his being Christian is a bother per se. It is his proselytizing nature that bugs people.
Didn’t Christ tell people they would be better served to shut themselves in a closet when they wanted to pray rather than put on airs of prideful display?
To me Tebow seems unreal, unnatural. I won’t believe he has the goods until I see how he deals with hardship and defeat.
January 27th, 2010 at 6:39 am
people should have to pass a 300 question common sense test before they are given a high school diploma and sent into the real world.

I dont think Tebows religion is even an issue of debate… I dont want him because his mechanics are actually worse than Jamarshmallows and I dont think he can run a pro style offense… also I think he would collapse under the pressure of this organization, because he would ACTUALLY care about more than a paycheck, which would likely be way to much stress for a rookie

trade Russell to Staples for a new overhead projector!
January 27th, 2010 at 7:01 am
You would not have to worry about Teboe coming into camp outta shape. furthermore, I beleive he could learn a pro style offense, and he does have the heart to prove nay sayers wrong. We have other needs QB is
one but i would put it lower on the totem, and not addrss it in the draft. If Tebow drops to like the 4th which I doubt ” see Jacksonville jags” then i would take a hard look.
Tebow will be a good NFL QB as he has most of the intagibles in my humble opinion.

Jags need to put fans in the seats. Tebow does have star power, and would be a great draw for the jags fans who are suffering form “black outs”, or lack of fans attending games. Tebow playing college ball in the area would put fans in the seats. No offense to gerrard, its all about business, this would be a good business decision…

January 27th, 2010 at 7:30 am
DMAC, and this offense needs 2 things
1. A compentant QB
2. A OCO who can utilize all of DMAC skills.
DMAC = R Bush with less swivel…
DMAC should be KR, PR, WR, HB, FL, and Decoy, and not the DHB type… DMAC needs to get touches, not just running between the tackles, let MBUSH do most of that heavy lifting…
January 27th, 2010 at 7:30 am
Welcome to the JaMarcus Russell off-season passing camp.
Last year a couple of wide receivers showed up to get some work in with the franchise quarterback, but they won’t returning this year.

Well, if the best player on the board is a corner, then team need would merit looking at that guy.
If McClain, Suh, Okung, McCoy, and Trent Williams are off the board, we have to look at either Haden or the DE Morgan.
Provided we haven’t addressed the CB need via FA that is.

Good Morning Raider Nation!!!!
January 27th, 2010 at 8:22 am
So the Colts offensively have a #1 pick at QB, a 1st rounder at TE, a 1st rounder at WR (Wayne) and their two RB’s are both 1st rounders.
Meanwhile, they have an undrafted C and LG and a 6th round pick at LT.
You got a QB, and everything else falls in place. No QB, no shot of winning.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:24 am
Good point Vegas!
Where were you yesterday?
January 27th, 2010 at 8:27 am
My order for our #8 pick would be something like this.
McClain, OT (best available), Haden, D Morgan
January 27th, 2010 at 8:27 am
I just don’t see any QB’s worth taking early. Maybe a flyer on Pike but even he’s not doing that well at the senior bowl practices.

January 27th, 2010 at 8:30 am
People making all these excuses for JaMarcus — his o-line, his WRs, the coaching instability, etc — need to stop kidding themselves. I was all for the pick at the time and defended him several games into the 2009 season, pointing out how many Hall of Fame QBs struggled early in their careers. But those guys who struggled had usually improved by Year 3. And their struggling would be something like 15 TD passes, 15 INTs.
JaMarcus isn’t just struggling. He’s been downright awful. The coaches and his teammates have no confidence in him. There are myriad stories about his laziness. He threw 3 TD passes to 11 INTs and had 17 turnovers in all last year. That’s not struggling. That’s sucking. Big time.
The only hope I see for JaMarcus is if he really gets serious, grows up and decides he wants to be an NFL QB after all. In addition to improving his conditioning, mechanics and preparation, maybe the single most important thing he could do is develop a sense of urgency on every play. The only time JaMarcus looks good is in the last 5 minutes of games in which we’re trailing. Up until that point he’s almost always awful. But then it’s like a switch is flipped. I’m pretty confident he just kind of wakes up and realizes it’s time to let it fly. He’s no longer afraid to pull the trigger. He’s quicker in his drops and in getting the ball out. If he could play like that the whole 60 minutes he actually could be the surprise NFL story of 2010. Do I think it’ll happen? No. But there it is.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:32 am
Jhill, Dunta Robinson
After holding out for nearly the entire offseason, Dunta Robinson stepped in and played pretty poorly, allowing a number of intermediate catches against him. Robinson played slightly better in the second half of the season, but not in line with a top corner. With an entire offseason of workouts, Robinson can return to form and be one of the better corners in the league, but it’ll be interesting to see how the situation plays out next offseason after an up and down season this year. The Texans may not be ready to commit a lot money after this season, which could lead Dunta to test the open market. I’d be surprised if they used the franchise tag on him again this year after what they went through last season.

I’d resign Routt but get somebody else (Javier Arenas in Round 2 or 3) to cover the slot as the nickel corner. Routt is actually pretty good on the outside, but he has major trouble covering the slot. Routt would probably be fairly cheap and valuable as a backup to CJ & Nnamdi.

3. Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama*
3. Cam Thomas, DT, North Carolina
4. Micah Johnson, MLB, Kentucky
5. Mike Neal, DT, Purdue
5. Trindon Holliday, KR/RB/WR, LSU
7. John Estes, C, Hawaii
* Trade down to mid/late 1st round and pick up a 3rd/4th in the swap.
Some other guys I like:
QB Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan 3rd round
WR Riley Cooper, Florida, 3rd round
WR Seyi Ajirotutu, Fresno State, 5th round
MLB Phillip Dillard, Nebraska, 7th round
DE James Ruffin, Northern Iowa, 7th round

It was a little crazy in here, I don’t do the whole KoolKell-Richochet name-calling stuff.
I did comment on your mock, I do like it. McClain in the first has to be the pick. I would rather have the best MLB, than the 3rd best DT (after Suh and McCoy).
I am still holding out hope McCoy might fall to us for some reason. We would need 7 guys drafted ahead of him so: Okung, Suh, Berry, McClain, Claussen, T Williams and maybe Haden or Bradford.
Probably wishful thinking.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:40 am
Chris in NY : our run defense is awful!

January 27th, 2010 at 8:43 am
Jackson sounds like a good hire.
Nothing would make me happier than to see the Raiders field a real NFL offense.
But the problem remains that Big Al is undermining his head coach. He won’t come out and say that Cable is his coach — the coach he wants leading his team.
Instead, he makes Cable wait and wait (at least publicly) and builds a staff around him. This approach can’t work. The players and the assistant coaches will know that Cable does not have Big Al’s full support and could be fired at any time. They will not go the mat for him like players and coaches on winning teams do for their head coach (out of respect or fear or both).
This is the usual Big Al set-up: If the Raiders somehow turn things around and score points, he will take the credit for hiring Jackson. But if the offense continues to bomb, he’ll blame Cable and make Jackson his new voodoo doll.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:44 am
Rockstar,
It’s about getting the most value for each pick. I like the DTs and MLB there as much or more than some guys rated to go higher.
McClain is a guy who has a ton of accolades but from the Alabama games I’ve watched he’s rarely stood out to me. Don’t think he’s as good as any of the three USC backers from last year.

Would be good if we could get Iupati in the 2nd. Not sure he’ll be there though. Same with Mccluster from Ole Miss. He’s doing great at the senior bowl. Yes his size will affect his draft stock but he won’t be there in the 5th.
As for Olsen, I haven’t seen him play much but from what I’m reading from the senior bowl he’s been getting pushed around so far.
January 27th, 2010 at 8:46 am
free agency starts on March 5th and as of right now it doesn’t look like we’ll have a salary cap to worry about …
we’ll have a better idea of what teams are looking to draft 6 or 7 weeks after FA!

According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, there are virtually no highly regarded quarterbacks who will be unrestricted. His list, included Charlie Batch, Kyle Boller, Mark Brunell, David Carr, Daunte Culpepper, A.J. Feeley, Rex Grossman, Josh McCown, Chad Pennington, Chris Redman and Brian St. Pierre.

yikes! Russell can compete with Gradkowski, Frye, Losman & Southwick. These guys are at least somewhat familiar with Cable, Hackett, Tollner & the WR’s. they are all dirt cheap. plus now hopefully we’ll have a competent play caller

Unfortunately, fairly decent. Remember in the 3 and a half games Bruce played, when the offense improved, Fargas had something like 42 carries, Darren less than 30 and Bush less than 10.
If Bush fumbles asks out of games and fumbles, and Darren averages 3.3 YPC, what choice do we have?

January 27th, 2010 at 9:32 am
- DE Austen Lane will fall because he came from a small school. He is still 6′6 265, runs a sub 4.7, and has 34 arms. He had 23 sacks, and 41 TFL in the past 2 years. ( steal in the 3rd)
- ILB Micah Johnson: the guy was the 3rd best ILB in the country before he got hurt, so to get a player like him in the 4th is a STEAL!!
- CB Walter Thurmond had 60+ TKls, 12 PD, and 5 INTs in 08, and similar number in 07. He was hurt all if this year, and only played 4 games.
I want all 3 players!!
January 27th, 2010 at 9:32 am

did well with Chad & TJ as the Bengals WR Coach.
did well with Flacco as the Ravens QB Coach.

Hey, I would like to see Bush and Darren take the job and carries away from Fargas, but Darren isn’t getting the job done, and Bush will have one game with 12 carries for 80 yards, than a 9 carry 12 yard game.
At least FArgas is consistent, 12 for 40 yards, lol. YOu can book it!!
January 27th, 2010 at 9:41 am
I think Hue Jackson will work with Russell in the offseason before the draft, or at least reach out to him.
that way he’ll know exactly what he’s got.
If he thinks Russell is a lost cause (despite what he may say to the owner or the media) he’ll fix the o-line and make us a run first team without any hesitation
he’ll be smart enough to limit Russell’s pass attempts. If JR struggles with even those I think he’ll get benched again.
Example: Mark Sanchez completed 54 percent of his passes, averaged 163 yards per game, threw 12 TD’s and had a QB Rating of 63
they made it to the playoffs and beat the Bengals & Chargers with him at the helm. If Russell can’t at least match the play of Sanchez this past year he’ll have no chance to succeed in Oakland
January 27th, 2010 at 9:41 am

January 27th, 2010 at 10:04 am
Nobody talks about Daryly Washington, LB from TCU on here.
I have seen him as the #4 LB on some boards, and will run in the 4.5 range. He is very light, he needs to bulk up just to get to 245, but Al loves some speed, and we need LB’s.
Don’t be suprised if Al has this guy highlighted on his wish list.
January 27th, 2010 at 10:05 am

That’s why most of my picks are for the Defense. I know we are better on Defense than offense, but I feel with a few players added, we can have a very good D. A Defense that can carry this young offense for a few seasons till we develop our young talent there.

We ran the ball more than we passed this year, and when we scored more points in the Bruce games, we throw the ball more than we ran it in those games.

Vegas:
the running & passing stats were both awful last year. I’m assuming Jackson’s #1 priority will be fixing the O-Line so that the QB’s & RB’s actually have a chance to be successful. We’ve proven that with a little blocking we can be a Top 10 or maybe even Top 5 running team. Has our passing game ever even shown glimpses of being able to accomplish that? No. that is why I think Hue Jackson will install a run-first offense if Russell struggles. Cable’s approach was to pass at will and when Russell chokes, yank him for a 3rd stringer
January 27th, 2010 at 10:31 am
“I think it’s a good decision by the organization,” Cable said. “It’s someone that I’m familiar with. It’s someone that I think can help us take the next step, so we’re all pretty excited about it.”
———————————————–

Rockstar,
I don’t agree that we had a pass-first offense. How many times did we just barrel a guy into the pile on first down? We ran the ball more than we passed, all the while losing games by 30 points.
It’s just when we passed, it was a turnover waiting to happen, and became very glaring.
I bet we pass the ball more next year, than we did this year.

Agreed. Do you think Hue Jackson will bench JaMarcus or stick with him if/when he fails?
In order to pass the ball more, we’ll have to show we are capable of doing so with at least some slight bit of efficiency, no?

Jackson actually is a good hire, in that he is in demand, and kind of in the middle of ascent in the coaching ranks. He will not let Jamarcus ruin that for him.
Russell may start the season, but the leash will be shorter than it was last year. And if blows off the OTA’s, Cable is still the HC, and someone else would probably be in place.
My guess, Jamarcus realizes that he can’t act like he did last off-season and improves in that regard. But the lack of pocket presence, inaccuracy, and penchant for turnovers will have him on the bench by week 5 if not sooner.

Raider O, that’s fine you love the draft and geek out on putting together mocks. Personally, I like cold suds and the exotic flavor of a kiss from a Mexican senorita in a tube top. But to each his own.
But seriously, homey – do you really think Al is going to pick any of the guys you want?
The answer is no. And its going to inevitably lead to your head exploding in April when you realize you’ve spent the past 3 months compiling and revising 40 versions of your mock all for nothing.
Ask yourself this: Besides maybe DMAC or Gallery, who at the time were consensus top choices – has Al EVER picked a guy you wanted in the draft?
I can tell you that answer with 100% certainty.
So in the end, does it really pay – besides the joy you feel in your loins – to believe this mock might finally be the one that comes true?

I think we realize that it won’t ever pan out the way we want, either by the Raiders (AL) not picking who we want or the players get picked before we have a chance to pass on them.
The fun part is tracking some players and see where they end up and the scheme. I’m not only a Raiders fan but also just plain love the NFL.

Midwest, you’re missing the point.
While you have a general interest in the players and the draft, dudes like Raider O have a specific want for the players in their mock to get drafted by the Raiders.
And they spend the months before the draft figuring our new defensive alignments incorporating these guys and calculating the impact they’ll have the Raider’s success.
They put round value on each player and count the minutes until each pick comes up, praying they’ll still be there for the taking.
Then, inevitably, when they aren’t drafted by Al, they go into denial, rage, depression, etc. The final insult is when these guys go on to perform for other teams while our sclubs (with a few exceptions) go onto careers in the food service industry and/or crime.
Why not stop this vicious cycle of futility?

January 27th, 2010 at 11:45 am
I also like the idea of adding Troy Smith. The only knock on him is his height, but Drew Brees, Michael Vick and others have done OK at that same size.
It’s now obvious we’re stuck with JaSkittle for another season unless he retires or comes into camp at 450 lbs. But Gradkowski and Smith would give us some real options at QB to go with JaSkittle’s potential, in case he unexpectedly fulfills it.

Missouri LB Sean Weatherspoon is someone the Raiders are reportedly interested in at the Senior Bowl. I wouldn’t be shocked at this pick in Round 2. He’s a fast, explosive and productive LB. Could play outside or inside. The one knock that scares me though is that he has trouble shedding blocks — which all sounds alot like the two guys we have in there now. Still, there have been comparrisons to former Buc Derrick Brooks and if he plays to that level you really can’t argue with the pick.

I have to agree with BSJ on this one. How are we misusing him? He is a 6′1″ 215 lb back. 6′1″ 215 lb backs should be able to run between the tackles. Darren Sproales runs between the tackles. McFadden does not make anyone miss, goes down on lst contact, does not run thru anyone, has been questionable receiving out of the backfield, and coughs it up every fourth or fifth touch. He’s being misused by being in the game. He should be in the stands.

There is no way to know right now, 1 year in, which Republican could beat Obama in 2012. It is possible that ANY republican could beat Obama in 2012. If he does a poor enough job, if unemployment is still 10%, if the economy is in the tank, if the housing market hasn’t rebounded, if he raises taxes to offset his trillions in spending, if interest rates have risen to offset the high inflation we are experiencing and the mass printing of money, then the same thing that caused Obama to get elected will happen again. everyone will blindly vote for change and ANY republican will beat Obama. Now, if things are not that bad then I would state at this point, the republican with the best chance of beating Obama would be Mitt Romney BUT too many things could change between now and then so it really is impossible to say.

The more realistic question is given that the Republicans had unfettered control of the Presidency, the Courts, and the Congress over the last eight years and EVERY major concern in America, like Education= disaster, Health Care= disaster, Economy= disaster, World Opinion= disaster, Public confidence= disaster, Environmental Issues= disaster, why would ANYONE vote Republican unless gays are that much of a threat to our nation.

Giuliani is probably the only Republican I can think of who could beat Obama. Of course, the Republicans are too silly to vote him in in the primary. They’ll probably nominate Sarah Palin, AKA the female George W Bush. Then again, she’ll probably win knowing this country and it’ll be the final nail in the coffin for America.
Obama has had only 1 year to undo an enormous mess. Factor in that the Republicans are only interested in dragging any progress down to a grinding halt and it’s a steep climb.
Then again, Obama needs to get tougher. The Republicans have shown their hand. One thing about Bush is he got what he wanted. He didn’t sit around catering to the opposition. He rammed his agenda through. Obama needs to do the same if we’re going to get anywhere. If that starts with forcing the Republicans to carry on a months long filibuster to block a health care bill then so be it. The mood of voters will change once they’re up there reading the phone book and other silly things while our health care system rots. If all that was needed was 51 votes for reform this would’ve been over long ago.

The real MR
Dude, can you read?
I stated, ANY republican WILL beat Obama if he can’t get us out of this mess. What Republican CAN beat him? Romney CAN beat him. Will he? Only time will tell.
Run??? Hey, you asked a question and if you read my entire statement you would see I answered your question. I don’t run, I am right here

Jerry McDonald is doing a great job. OC Hue Jackson is a great pick up. Hopefully, Troy Smith will be part of the package from Bmore. Draft OL…or MLB McClain.
