ESPN: Pendergast will coach Raiders DBs

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, February 6th, 2010 at 5:23 pm in Oakland Raiders.

ESPN is reporting that deposed Kansas City defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast will coach the Raiders’ defensive backs in 2010.

Pendergast could either replace incumbent secondary coach Lionel Washington, who is still under contract, or join Washington on staff. Willie Brown, who assists in the secondary and is in charge of “squad development,” told Comcast SportsNet he was retiring.

    Rack O Lamb.

    You’re right.

    Your perception is your reality.

Being, in your case a contrarian, does not make you any less a lemming or mouse.

Rather a lemming or mouse of a different origin.

    Duh.
    ————–
Words every mouse lives by, and only spoken by an admitted mouse.

    Good for you.

Now get back to blindly going along, because YOU THINK THAT MAKES YOU A BETTER FAN.
Get back to complaining about others booing, BECAUSE YOU LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH THE TEAM.
Get back to pretending it’s ok for Al to destroy the team, because a QUARTER OF A CENTURY AGO HE DIDN’T HAVE HIS HEAD UP HIS ASS.

Just keep pretending..and waiting for others to demand better.

    After all…that’s what mice do.

Nothing in your previous post has ever been implied or stated by me.

  10. Pretty Rick Says:

Penderwho? anyway,,,I see Sarah Palin’s irritating ass is on TV making a damn fool of herself,,but then again that is what she does best,,talk a bunch of blah blah, trip over words & drive people to tears with that voice..thank GOD for the mute button. Anyway Penderwho?

  11. Seymour Bush Says:

This is a really nice hire. Clancy Pendergast has 15 years in the league coaching DB’s and was the Defensive Coordinator of the Zona Cardinal team that went to the Super Bowl. Pendergast developed some pretty good DB’s in Zona. He was kept thru the Denny Green and Wishenhunt regimes before being unceremoniously dumped after their Super Bowl loss. KC picked him up immediately as their DC, but now with Romeo Crennell rejoining the other ex-Pats, he is not needed. Besides, he is probably a better DB coach than he is a defensive coordinator. I like this hire. Once again, you all lambaste Davis but he is quietly putting together a pretty exceptional coaching staff.

  12. Seymour Bush Says:

We can’t let Sarah Palin leave Pretty Rick. If we did people like MistabrOwn would have no one to look to for guidance. After all, Sarah can see Russia from her house.

  13. Pretty Rick Says:

She can see Russia from her house? Holy Geez!!! Do they have nuclear,,I mean (nucelar) weapons?

  14. Nnamdi21 Says:

We got Teddy Pendergast?! The women will swoon…just like Palin.

Loathesome little robot that she is I would wreck that chick for all other men.

Always had a thing for mousy librarian women…even ones that are completely devoid of compassion and reality…

  15. Nnamdi21 Says:

JERRY! have a good week end and thanks for the Raider news!

  16. Pretty Rick Says:

Its no breaking news that Palin’s an idiot,,but something tells me she’s a straight freak. I’d hit it,,but I’d have to gag her, her voice drives me crazy.

I agree YoungAmerican. AZ did have some quality DB’s but Pendergast did a damn good job, not to mention their defensive backfield definitely went down hill after he left.

shhhhhhhhhhh don’t tell STOOL KELL or Madden Gayder, but Mr. Davis is quietly putting together a possibly remarkable coaching staff.
    ====================
    Shhhhh…don’t tell anyone…you’re an idiot.

Pendergast got FIRED after the team went to the SB…now..tell me..is that a vote of “good job” or was it “we won in spite of you, and we want a change”??

Went to KC..the bottom of the barrel..AND THEY ALSO SAID “WE CAN DO BETTER..ADIOS, MUCHACHO” (or in your case, muchacha)

Now, all this time later, where no other team even bother with him, some of you consider this as “putting together a strong coaching staff”???

Amazing how some of you get out of bed without hurting yourself.

  33. Bob Marley Says:

Hopefully Clancy Pendergast joins the staff, he’s experienced but very young (42), he’s known as a creative, out of the box thinker which is good, but sometimes leads him to trouble as he tries too hard to outscheme his opponent, it definitely worked for him during AZ’s playoff run though.

Anyway, I like the hirings of Hue Jackson (44) and Clancy Pendergast (42), both are young and have potential to grow, Mike Waufle was a nice hire as well.

I think it’s great the all three hires come from recent success, Jackson comes after two straight playoff seasons in Baltimore, while Pendergast and Waufle have coached in the last two Super Bowls.

but he threw up big numbers with the likes of jay schr, todd mar, hoss, jeff geo, don hollis, rich ga, and still caught 80 balls, 1,000+ rec yds, and 8+ td’s every yr for the raiders. would he signed with the donks, won 2 super bowls, easy first time selection into the hof. yet u fools would don a raider jerry rice jersey just to stick with your local ties. not knowing what was really good with this team through the dark ages.

  48. priesttj Says:

You guy’s don’t be so hardon KK, he’s handicapped by his fantasies of the Raiders being his reason for living. He actually thinks other teams should lay down and let the Raiders win so he can be happy.

He fantasizes that Al Davis should be all knowing and clairvoyant. If Al picks a player that player be a probowler every season until they retire. He fantasizes that Al Davis should be able with a blind fold find a QB that is a can’t miss talent andthat they should develope through osmosis.

He fantasizes that Mr Davis should have know everything that goes on every minute and make all the right choices without blinking an eye. He fantasizes about the glory days and says to himself where did they go he must have turned against us he no longer wants what he used t which is to win every game every year. SuperBowls should be our calling card and automatic invite if you will.

He fantasizes that if other teams can win the Raiders should also or else the old man obviously doesn’t care anymore. Or else we would be in this years SB the fact that we aren’ is directly attributable to the fact that Mr Davis desn’t care anymore or is purposely undermining the people he hires for their expertise.

He only gets great players just to say he has them he really doesn’t want to win he just wants to be here.

He’s totally unable conceave that Mr Davis is doing all he can but he’s in a competitive business with very competitive people who also die to win. He just can’t fathom that sports is just that sports to enjoy and if your team can some how find the right mix and win then you are blessed.

But something tells me he is not alone in his fantasies

  49. raideredoutL.A. Says:

tim brown was taken for granted in oakland. most of u fools embraced jerry rice cuz he played for your 2nd favorite team before.

  50. priesttj Says:

Mr Davis is just an extraordinary man who’s still living a dream. Yes he has accomplished a lot in his life but he still enjoys the ride which some wicked people begrudgingly want to deny him that enjoyment.

They say he doesn’t deserve it. That he is the cancer and should go away even die. That’s just how good he once was and still really is but because they can’t get out of it what they feel they should and they deserve they want him out of the very organization he biult.

Just how sick and selfish is that????

D Clark to score last TD of game $90
A Collie to score first TD of game $80

exact points scored by Dolts 38 for $100

    Under 48 points (+220)
Saints will not score in all 4 quarters (-180)
First score of game FG/Safety (+130)
    D. Clark to score 1st TD (6/1)
Meacham to score 1st TD (10/1)
Dallas Clark to score a TD (+125)
Over 3.5 rushing attempts for Mike Bell (even)
Colston longest reception 22.5 yards, over (-110)

I think I have a few more, they are in my car, but I love prop bets!!! 2 of the last 5 years I plucked the first TD of the game (I take one guy from each team) and I feel pretty confident with Clark/Meacham.

    Good luck!

  72. neilb Says:

    That should be “good”.

I don’t watch Nascar to be honest Plunketthead.I was on the espn site looking Greg Easterbrook and noticed the headline.Women who can drive fast is a new one for me so I had to have a look.

  73. neilb Says:

The thought of Sabine is messing with my mind!

    Neil,

You chaps across the pond have one named Lucy Pinder that even impresses us yanks.

  75. neilb Says:

    Lucy Pinder is a Goddess.

  76. Plunketthead Says:

It looks you put a lot of thought into your props.
It sure does add some excitement to the game.
Prop bets will keep you on the edge of your seat from the coin toss ()heads or tails) till the last second ticks off. And I suspect they have some that go longer such as who says I am going to Disney or who is the MVP

  77. vegas raider Says:

Al was very unactive while figuring out the Cable situation, but has any team been more active in assembling a staff so far?

I’m excited about the Hue Jackson hiring. Being that he is a legit NFL OC, no matter what happens here his next job will be OC or better, and we didn’t even have an OC last year, we should get more out of our offense with him at the helm.

We reallly can’t be any worse than we were this year.

  78. neilb Says:

Can you bet on the songs that The Who will sing ? Just how far can you go with your bets ?

  79. vegas raider Says:

I got the packet last week, and “studied” it every morning on the can.

I do better on the prop bets than I do the actual game. I am going against Norco Bob and his over call, even took it down a few points and took the under (48) and increased my payout.

  80. neilb Says:

The question is,Vegas, will Al let them coach.

  81. vegas raider Says:

    Neil,

All the Vegas bets are tied to the actual game.

Things like how long the national anthem will go, how many pics of Kim K will we see, and the others are all done off-shore.

  82. vegas raider Says:

“Sapp reportedly told police that she fell while he was helping her off a couch.”

  83. Plunketthead Says:

I gave up on NASCAR. Too much Mickey Mouse crap going on that makes it obvious the head honchos “manipulate” everything from rules and “referee” call and the actual race cars itself to affect outcomes.

If it wasnt for the hardon I have for the Raiders I would dismiss the NFL for the same things.

Manipulating the outcome in order to add more bling to the jewel encrusted NFL shield.

  84. neilb Says:

You can bet on how many times you see that Kim kad-whats-her-name ? Crazy!!!

  85. Plunketthead Says:

    Vegas

I also have high hopes for next year. I think Al is gonna dig deep into the back of his Scrooge McDuck sized vault and buy us a top notch free agent or two.

    woohoo!!!

  86. neilb Says:

Off to take the dog out and then to watch Arsenal play Chelsea.

Have a great Super Sunday everyone and enjoy the game!

  87. Plunketthead Says:

I would go against the grain and take the Saints and the under for a two teamer but I hardly ever win those

  88. jhill Says:

    Wassup fellas!

I think these guys will be allowed to coach. With Cable staying, things should pick right up where they left off last year. Well for the most part, lol. But from a coaching/scheme standpoint, I think you will see Marshall continue to attack and move guys around.

Wauffle, Jackson, and Pendergast are all good additions to the staff.

  89. buckeyeraider Says:

    Good morning Nation,
Couldn’t help but chuckle at the Sapp headlines this morning. Every time he blasted the raiders on NFLN, I thought you ungrateful back stabbbing p.os. But I aleays took everything he said with a grain of salt, because of an article I read after he signed with the Raiders. After he was released by Tampa, he only had two choices, Oakland or Cincy. He obviously picked the Raiders.
Chick Ludwig is the Bengals beat writer for The Dayton Daily News, and also their national corespondant to The Sporting News. The next day he wrote a column, which I’m paraphrasing because it was a long time ago, but basically he relayed a conversation he had with a peer from Tampa. The guy basically told him to count his blessings that Sapp didn’t come to Cincinnati. The guy basically said Sapp was a phony, a fraud and a p.o.s. human being. He was a media whore. When the bright lights and cameras of the national media like BSPN were on he put up this facade of being this fun loving, happy go lucky Teddy Bear of a man. In reality he was anything but. He was a foul, rude, tobacco juice spewing jerk. To quote a player who was publicly feuded with Sapp: “Warren Sapp stinks. His breath stinks. His soul even stinks.” And now you can add he’s an accused woman beater.

  90. jhill Says:

And on top of all that, he just wasn’t that good. Derailed Ryan from day 1 with his inability to play DE in the 3-4, lol! We should have frickin cut his ass since he didn’t fit the defense.

Al’s first BIG free agent mistake of this current slide.

  91. buckeyeraider Says:

    JHill,
I don’t blame Sapp for that season. He was miscast as a 3-4 end. His game was penetration, shooting that center/guard gap at the snap. He actually gave the Raiders a nice season when they moved him back to DT. Remember he and Burgess were the league’s leading sack combo with 16 and 10. He led all interior lineman that year. The thing I didn’t like was his Raider bashing on the NFL network. After they had picked him up, and payed him well, after his release from Tampa. His BS about the phone ringing on the sideline, and Al actually calling plays from the box, during games. I think he was making that shyt up, because that’s what he thought people wanted to hear.

  92. jhill Says:

Joey Porter or Merriman options at OLB? Or would you rather keep Howard?

  93. vegas raider Says:

I thought Sapp played well at times, but as we learn with Warren, the guy talks out of both sides of his mouth. He wanted to be the de facto leader for the Raiders, and he wasn’t THAT good, and full of too much BS to pull it off.

Can’t really blame him too much for the 3-4 DE move, IMO though. Another case of Al signing a guy that doesn’t fit into what his coaching staff is trying to do.

  94. Norco Bob Says:

Congrats again to Raider great Jerry Rice!!…way to go Jerry!

  95. Norco Bob Says:

I was really drunk mouthing off to Sapp, maybe 4 years ago,..his second year here whenever that was…now Im understanding why we ddnt get in a fight…if I would have been a woman he would have retaliated,…tell you wha, up close Sapp aint chit, same height as me, but all his weight is in his gut,..dudes real soft…he cant kick any dudes aasss…no way,..I bet that lady he assault got in some shots on him,..Sapp is a punk and I knew it when he was at The U,….go Colts!

  96. YoungAmerican Says:

Joey Porter or Merriman options at OLB? Or would you rather keep Howard?

    ———————

Porter would be a stopgap move at best, and who knows if he still has the speed to play in a 4-3 man scheme. And Merriman would cost a whole lot of money. Honestly, I’d rather keep Thomas Howard who seems to be a perfect fit for the Raiders, and address the MLB situation in the draft.

  97. HairyBush Says:

According to NFL.com Donte Stallworth will be reinstated then released be the Browns. I’m thinking he may come cheap. I figure if he can’t teach our recievers how to get open and catch the ball, he can at least show them how to kill someone and spend minimal time in jail :)

  98. Norco Bob Says:

Merriman off roids cant tackle me,..Porter completely washed up,..get real man.

  99. Norco Bob Says:

I actually know Donte Stallworth a little, and have been in communication with him about being a Raider,..went to Grant HS out here,…he told me via email he loves Hue Jackson,…I would be surprised if he doesnt end up here.

  100. HairyBush Says:

I’d take him, hopefully it would give a little respect to our reciver corp. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in silver & black.

I have to say I agree with a Monte Poole article a few days ago as far Al Davis going to drop a “bombshell” and do something noteworthy. ( I just hope it’s something good)

  101. Plunketthead Says:

    Waufle, Jackson and Pendergast.

Since no good coaches would possibly work for Al, these three must be at the bottom of the ladder, desperate for wok and unable to coach anywhere else, right?

Joey Porter or Merriman options at OLB? Or would you rather keep Howard?
    =======================================================
No! THese are the types of signings that have put the Raiders in this 7 yr abyss. These two guys are moody players that would instantly take what little oxygen remains at Raider HQ and suffocate an already pathetic organization. Porter and Merriman ARE NOT leaders.

How about keeping Howard and getting some REAL coaches to coach these players up.

I would focus more on MLB for the 1 free agent signing. Address the DT and OL in the draft

The Raiders arent going to be winning unless JaDavis rededicates himself

  103. buckeyeraider Says:

I like the Pendergast hire as well. The guy seemed to have done a nice job in Az, during their super bowl year. He got moved out in KC to make room for the great Midwest NE Patriot reunion tour. To knock an assistant coach in the NFL for getting fired is disingenuous at best. Coaching in professional football is the ultimate transient lifestyle. You’d be hard pressed to find a veteran coach at any level who hasn’t been fire a time or two. By that logic Pittsburgh was stupid to bring back Dick Lebeau as DC, after all, he’d just been fired in Cincinnati. By the way, Congrats Dick. The guy was a hell of a player. Over 50 int’s I believe.

  104. Norco Bob Says:

Hairy,..Poole wasnt being serious,..there is no news coming of any kind.

  105. HairyBush Says:

I don’t know, these coaches seem at least 1/2 way legit to me. I laughed when they made a big deal over Jackson picking us over Chicago. I know things are bad but I guess Al can still talk a good game (it’s executing it that he has a problem with).

    ====================================================
But how will these coaches work together? Did Tom Cable interview them? Did he hire them? Do the coaches report to Cable or do the report to Al Davis. Who runs the team?

The Owner picks all the assistants and the HEAD COACH has no real authority on the staff. That doesn’t make much sense

  107. vegas raider Says:

    Off to the MGM….

Colts in a entertaining first half, and a boring second-half, 31-16.

  108. HairyBush Says:

Norco,I know poole was just trying to write an amusing story, but I personally could see something happening. Al’s ego took a shot with that whole billboard thing, and I belive he’s going to try something big to get the sports world to say hmmmmm. As I said before I’m just not so sure if it’s going to be a good thing or not. (as opposed to just being a big noise maker).

  109. Plunketthead Says:

    SnB

I bet Al told Cable its his job to be the head “manager”. Take it or leave it.

Terrific Tom will arise to the occasion and all will be well again in the Raider Nation, sooner, rather then later.

  110. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Donte Stallworth is another foolish Javon Walkerish type of pick.

Stallworth plays over who? Not Louis Murphy and Chaz Schilens….and DHBust is at top 10 pick so has to play.

So now we are talking about replacing JLH. I would stick with JLH. He made some nice catches when the QB could get hin the ball. And in 2008, he had some 7 or 8 TDs as a WR and PR.

Stallworth? Another free agent that makes limited impact…brings a ton of baggage…and keeps young players on the bench.

    NO Thanks

Al Davis should be 100% focused on making sure JaDavis Russell is showing up for the workouts, studying the playbook and not eating too much.

  111. Norco Bob Says:

Vegas,..I took the over, as only bet, went big too,…56.5 covered prior to 4th quarter.

  112. HairyBush Says:

SnB, come on man-seriously. Stallworth and walker are apples and oranges. Javon’s knees were shot. Al just had to take him from Denver, he takes pride in stuff like that. JLH-really?!? That dude is playing scard! he is done! I would like Donte as our 3rd receiver, with DHB in 4 wr sets. At least for a couple years until he gets the hang of things. Donte probaly will never be a pro bowl player but he will get 50 plus catches. BTW I don’t think he’s a head case, I think he F’d up and that’s that. Just sayin.

  113. HairyBush Says:

SnB, I do agree that Al’s main focus needs to be on Jamarcus the hut.

  114. Norco Bob Says:

The focus regarding Russell should be releasing him,..today.

  115. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    HB,

DHB or Murphy is going to be the 3rd receiver. Murphy because his talent demands he be on the field and DHBust because his contract size demands it.

Stallworth becomes the 4th receiver, assuming JLH goes away.

I would rather spend free agent dollars on MLB.

The receivers will rise and fall based on whether JaDavis gives a d*&n about playing football and being great…or if Al Davis will allow A FAIR QB competition in camp.

Not confident either is going to happen

  116. Norco Bob Says:

Stallworth will come cheap,..and JLH sucks.

  117. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    =======================================================
That’s not our decision to make. Just like everything else….Al Davis calls the shots and right now he likes this guy.

So our only hope is that JaDavis Russell gets focused and works hard and makes football #1.

Because he’s going to play regardless….

    Oh well

  118. Norco Bob Says:

I think in Napa, if Russell is still on team, a Raider should take his knees out during practice.,..end year in Napa.

  119. buckeyeraider Says:

I agree with SNB. No to Porter, and Merroidman as well. They are both blowhards, whose best days are behind them. I’d take THoward over both of them. Rooting for Merroidman in silver and black would be tough. Never liked Rice in SF, but rooted like hell for him in Oakland. Romanowski was a player you loved to hate in Denver, but I thought he brought back some much needed nastiness to the Raider D for a year or two. I think he purposefully broke Shannon Sharpe’s arm in that MNF game.
As far as Stallworth, I like our young receiving corps, and think they could really grow with Jamarcus, if he can get his shyt together.
What Al needs to find is another Lincoln Kennedy in free agency. Somebody mentioned him earlier. He was considered a bust in Atlanta, but gave the Raiders some good years at RT. They need to strike it rich like that again. A veteran to help solidify this O-line. I don’t know who that player might be, but I hope he’s out there.

  120. r8eray Says:

Good Morning and Happy Super Bowl Day!

  121. Dude Says:

Donte Stallworth will get 50+ catches?? Wheres he going, New Orleans? Denver? Dallas?

  122. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Stallworth was bouncing around from team to team….Browns, Patriots, Eagles, Saints….come-on guys.

The 3rd receiver for the raiders will not catch 50…let alone the 4th — espeically with JaDavis at the helm. JaDavis is no better off than a rookie right now….it is what it is

So save the money that would have been spent on Stallworth and put that towards getting a real Middle Linebacker to pair with our DT that we HOPEFULLY pick in the draft.

  123. HairyBush Says:

Snb, Is it possible some of our new coaches say Hue Jackson for example get a good look at DHB and say uhhh yeah, I’m sorry I know this guy is gettin paid #1 WR money but he needs more time to develop. Mr. Davis if you would like to win right now we need our best players on the field (hence the stallworth signing). I personally would like to see DHB become a good wideout. I am leery but hopeful. If it will happen realistically IT WILL take time.

I wouldn’t be mad if we picked up a good LB in free agency, although I do get concerned that people I like such as Merriman and Porter are hot heads and would really take away from the culture we are trying to establish. I will repeat the words trying to establish. We are not there yet.

Anyways, maybe If I say prayers tonite there will be an open and fair QB competition this summer. One can hope right?

Yeah…it will be great to see to elite QBs and O-Lines….and contrast that with the B.S in Oakland with JaDavis Russell and an owner that insists he plays at all costs

  126. Dude Says:

Russell+Gradkowski+Frye= Worst collection of QBs in the NFL. Seriously. Name one thats worse.

  127. r8eray Says:

    The Rams!

  128. Dude Says:

Bulger and Boller are better. A healthy Bulger is a good NFL starter. Try again.

  129. HairyBush Says:

When I say 50 plus catches for Stallworth, I will specify that I never said those catches were coming from Jamarcus the hut. Take that into consideration. Perhaps Grads or….?????

  130. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    HB,

The offense needs JaDavis to step up because Al Davis is set on playing him. The next position needing upgrade is the O-Line. Receiver is down the list.

Regardless, it would be better to invest seriously in the defense and try to play tough run defense, and on offense run the ball and throw occassionaly off playaction.

That has to be the model. Walk before running…as much as we want to see a highflying passing offense..it just isn’t going to happen with where JaDavis Russell is in his regression

  131. r8eray Says:

    The Bucs!

  132. r8eray Says:

    49′rs!

  133. r8eray Says:

    Broncos!

  134. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    HB,

Like I told Norco Bob….JaDavis Russell is playing this year. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Gradkowski IS NOT brought back. Seriously.

If Davis believed remotely in Gradkowski, he would have elevated Tollner or Hackett to OC and allow them to craft an offense around Gradkowski.

But Davis went and spent coin to get Hue Jackson in the hopes he can turn around JaDavis.

So, in my opinion, since JaDavis is the QB, let’s focus on building the O-Line to run the football and the defense to stop the run and hopefully keep the game close

  135. buckeyeraider Says:

Got in a superbowl squares pool at work. Bought two squares at 5 bucks apiece. Can’t biotch about my numbers..I drew 7-7, and 3-0. I’d settle for 300, let somebody else split the rest. Spread the wealth, right?

  136. HairyBush Says:

Snb, Honestly I totally agree with the philosophy you mentioned. I’m just implying that for what I anticipate as a cheap price for this certain wideout, it probaly wouldn’t hold us back from maybe making a splash in free agency to hopefully add depth to the need positions you mentioned.

Are you totally convinced we are going through the whole season Jamarcus? I can’t say that I am.

We Need to sign the best G & C available in FA. We don’t need to add players to the the defense through FA. We need to use FA to fix the Offense, and fix the Defense with the draft.

2- OT T Williams if available, or Kyle Calloway
    3- DT Cam Thomas
    3- DE Austen Lane
    4- LB Micah Johnson
    5- CB Walter Thurmond
    5- KR/ PR Leroy Vann
    7- FB

    FA:
    -Sign the best G & C available.
-Sign a LB, CB, and DT later in FA when we can get them cheaper.
-Sign a RB and a FB.

    Cuts:
-DT Warren and WR walker to make room for the G & C.
    -HB Fargas.
-LB Euk who makes 1.5 mil to play ONLY STs!
-G Cooper who makes 6 Mil.

    Resign:
    -LB TH.
-LB Kirk if he gives us a home town discount, and moves to SLB.
    -OL Walker & Barnes.
-QB BG IF he signs cheap.

JaDavis is going to play long enough to determine the rest of the season. I see them giving him at least 6 to 8 games…sort of like last year.

They aren’t going to bench him after say 4 gms…unless they are 0-4 and if they are 0-4…who cares at that point

I am just saying its a possibility. NO ONE HERE knows exactly what Al Davis is going to do.

But we do know that Al Davis still believes in JaDavis Russell. We also know that Hue Jackson was not brought in to work with Gradkowski…Tollner/Hackett would be better suited to do that….

So, again, we will see. Just offering up an opinion

  145. HairyBush Says:

SnB,I believe if Jamarcus has a tough camp, he will not be afforded the luxary of being our starter. I forsee one of the “gym rats” out working him in camp and flat out winning the job. Maybe, and I say maybe, whoever that starter is will play just well enough with the guys rallying around him to win enough games to keep Jamarcus marinating on the bench. If I am wrong, It will be another long season for Raider nation (again). Wish I could bet behind Jamarcus-He just makes it so darn hard. Don’t you just want to shove a caddle prod in that open mouth and say wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather be wrong anyday about Jamarcus and see him step up so we can get back to where we belong in the NFL. If I were a betting man I would say the odds of Jamarcus proving me wrong are around 1 in 10.

  146. jhill Says:

I think an OC was brought in because one was needed. Not because of Russell or Gradkowski. The play calling was not any better with Grads or Frye so the position needed to be filled. DB and DL coaches also needed to be upgraded, and we may not be done. I think we’ll still see a WR coach and possibly and RBs coach added.

  147. Norco Bob Says:

Well snb, your opinion is gay,..so shut the F*ck up.

  148. jhill Says:

The QB who gives us the best chance to win will start opening night.

I will say that I don’t see Gradkowski lasting 3 games before getting hurt. Definitely not a 16 game guy. I think he’ll be the #2.

  149. jhill Says:

I wonder why Russell has to go to Az to get in shape?

  151. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Al Davis is committed to getting JaDavis right. I think Hue Jackson was brought in to get JaDavis ready to play. I think Al Davis made JaDavis go to Arizona…which is why he left for a bender in Vegas before having to get to work….

Connect the dots….Cable has been effectively demoted..not even given a public vote of confidence although he will stay as head coach.

    Hackett/Tollner status in limbo

Hue Jackson, mentor to QBs, RBs and WRs hired to rebuild JaDavis

    JaDavis in Arizona

JP Losman brought in at the end of last year

To me that points to Gradkowski being behind the 8-ball…..

JaDavis started last year and was 30lbs overweight and didn’t know the playbook…..He PROBABLY won’t be overweight this time and will probably put at least 2 days a week into the playbook…..He will show to most of theOTAs……so regardless of his performance on the field…I believe Al Davis is going to play him the 1st 5 or 6 gms minimum

  152. HairyBush Says:

Jhill, I have to agree, I like Grads fire & passion but don’t see him holding up.

  153. Dude Says:

If Gradkowski is seen as even a small threat to Dough Boy, Davis will send him packing. Kind of like how Garcia was convieniently jettisoned last year. Davis in all his wisdom dismissed Gradkowski and Frye as non-threats to his chosen one which is why they were kept.

If Gradkowski is seen as even a small threat to Dough Boy, Davis will send him packing. Kind of like how Garcia was convieniently jettisoned last year. Davis in all his wisdom dismissed Gradkowski and Frye as non-threats to his chosen one which is why they were kept.

tim brown was taken for granted in oakland. most of u fools embraced jerry rice cuz he played for your 2nd favorite team before.
    ***************
Jery Rice was picked over Tim Brown simply because he was a far superior receiver. If you ant to P&M about a raider WR not being elected to the HOF, get upset about Cliff Branch. Brown couldn’t carry Branch’s jock strap.

  224. No Lo Says:

Tim Brown is not a first ballot HOF. He was a great Raider but not one of the greatest wide receivers. He put up great stats on bad/medicore teams but for the 3 year run with Gruden and a couple of playoff appearnces in LA.
When Rice came to the Raiders it was obvious to me he was jealous. He was no longer the first option. In fact, he was the third option behind Rice and Charlie Garner. Check out his SB stats v. the Bucs. 2 catches for less than 20 yards. Who were the first 2 options: Rice and Porter. I recall during the 3 year run he was whining about not getting the ball. They’re playing the Chiefs and Gannon caves in and completes something like 13 passes. Raiders lose to Chiefs. So much for team first.
Get over it. He is not the greatest wide receiver in Raiders history. He wasn’t better than Freddie B, Branch or Rice. In fact, Warren Wells was more dangerous in his short stay. In addition, I’m missing another Raider great from the 60s-was it Art Powell. Stabler, Guy, Plunkett, Wiz, to name a few, deserve to be there before Timmy.
    Get real.

  225. Seymour Bush Says:

Sorry norco, just the facts. Of course that changes if Russell goes even DEEPER off the edge than he did last year, which I don’t think is going to happen. His receiving corp is going to be more solid, the same offensive system is going to be in place, altho Russell will have his 4th or 5th different play caller in his lst 25 starts. Peyton Manning has had one playcaller in his lst 200 starts. Think THAT makes a difference?

  226. Seymour Bush Says:

I have to agree with you guys on Tim Brown. While I really liked Brown he was not the player Freddy B or Cliff were.

It’s true. If someone has to come in here every day and rant and rave about someone they have never met, they are owned by that person. Completely totally owned. Kinda like the way that oakglen guy owns wack-o-chet and mistabrOwn.

    ==========================
I’m going to dumb this down as much as I can so YOU can try and grasp this.

    Uh….dumbass? See…YOU JUST MENTIONED ME.

    You with me, dumbass?

Yesterday? When I wasn’t here? YOU REPEATEDLY MENTIONED ME..

    Now..YOU STILL WITH ME, PEANUT?

    Now..you’ve never met me.

YOU then stated “If someone has to come in here every day and rant and rave about someone they have never met, they are owned by that person.”

    Ok….give him time….lol……

    You get it now, DUMBASS???

Yep, you’re so freaking easy, Oakglen.

But hey…not just to me, dude.
    Brownie made you his beyotch.
Kelly slapped you around like a raggedy ann doll.
MR had you jumping through hoops.

I’m just one of many who get a laugh..at your expense.

Hey???? Tell us again how the true leaders of the team are ALWAYS THE O=LINEMEN..lol…you dumbass.

Wishfull thinking but unfortunately not true. I ran into Tom Cable at a restaurant in Alameda of Friday and suggested Troy Smith RFA, Ravens. He said “we got JaMarcus and he’s going to be our guy. His old coach is coming and he’ll be OK”. I said I hope that’s the case but he’s got a ton of bad habits to fix. He went on to infer that he has some inside information on Troy Smith and that option may no longer be an option. So, that certainly doesn’t sound like AD has had it with JaBustus.

I don’t know if it made the final cut, it was in the running..

If it did, vote for the Dorito’s commercial with the yellow labrador retriever in it. The dog belongs to a good friend of mine’s son.

I like the Pendergast hire. Good football man from what I hear..

Would like to see the Saints win, would make for one hellava party down in the 504…

Why is the President on talking shop??????
