Send me to Bourbon Street

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, February 7th, 2010 at 7:55 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Would love to eat my words, except I’m too full of jambalaya, shrimp, spicy chicken wings, etc.

A well-deserved win for the Saints, who got their first defensive touchdown in more than a month _ off Peyton Manning, no less _ and showed many of the same qualities which made them one of the NFL’s most impressive teams through the first 12 games.

Have to love a team which recovers an onsides kick to open the second half, converts it into a touchdown, then is unruffled when Indianapolis immediately answers with its final score.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees played the Colts’ Cover 2 defense beautifully, content to take all the short throws it allows without forcing anything downfield and avoiding the kind of mistake Manning made at the end.

Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving player or a more deserving team.

The Saints played similar to the way the Raiders played the last time they were any good, only to unravel in the final game against Tampa Bay.

Fell behind 10-0, outscored Indianapolis 31-7 the rest of the way, and immediately put on hold any thought of Manning joining the likes of Montana, Bradshaw and Brady and bottom-line, championship quarterbacks.

Hell, he’s still a game behind Jim Plunkett.

I don’t know, Bobbo…240 miles to place a $40 bet..another 120 round trip to pick up your $40 winnings, had you won.

    360 miles to win $40??

What is wrong with this picture?

  • RaiderRockstar

I’ve lobbied for Gregg Williams after he got canned by the Bills, Redskins & Jaguars.

    he’s an excellent DC!

He finally got a Super Bowl trophy to put on his resume. I’m not surprised

    Ricky,

    Bob lies to get attention.

Is this “breaking news” to you?

Carrie Underwood murdered the national anthem. Atrocious. Off key and over cooked. Almost worse than Queen Latifah’s standard pat choir sing along of America the beautiful. Yuck…
Good game and won money off the Saints.

Oh shut up, you whining little tool.
    Both did a decent job.
Get back to hanging on JR’s sac..like ONLY you and TJ can.

And I like to laugh at Bobbo when he says something stupid…

Not exactly ground breaking news..is it?

  • Norco Bob

Richard, I dont consider hangin in Tahoe as losing,..and I win about 3 parlay cards a year…not too bad,..usually the entire football season I break about even.

  • Norco Bob

And about 3 seasons ago, in the Horizon casino, did hit a 2500 dollar jackpot,..that was cool. By the way, the Horizon is going out of biz,..think they are closing before the summer. sucks, they have the best poolside.

  • RaiderRockstar

Ricky – I guess not. touche

I didn’t think Carrie Underwood “murdered” the national anthem. She did alright

I’ve never heard ANYBODY sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl and been blown away by it …

it’s like eating at McDonalds. you know what you’re getting and it’s not steak

My wife was hooked up with a Raiders’ cake at her baby shower for little Dakota Jr. this weekend. Best cake ever! Had a little Raiders’ helmet and a Raiders’ tractor-trailer on it.

  • Norco Bob

Back in I think the season of 1997 or so, I saw MC Hammer sing the national anthem, in rap,…Hammer got boo`d big time,..I kind of enjoyed it.

  • http://www.raiderfans.net Richochet

Besides, RaiderRock…aren’t you the one who bit on his comment about how the girl Sapp hit “deserved it”??

Where it was pointed out, to YOU, that that exact comment was strictly to get attention?

His bet wasn’t to get attention..at least not at the time..had it been the over, bobbo would be claiming he bet $500.
The fact he lost..it’s now “only $40″.

  • DMAC

Why didn’t you put a little DMAC running across the fieldon the cake?
That would of been the schit!

  • http://www.raiderfans.net Richochet

The National Anthem is rumored to be the most difficult anthem of any nation to sing..I know I torture it, prompting howls from neighbor dogs.

  • RaiderRockstar

    awesome Dakota!

I live in Chiefs country and my wife had a Raider cake made for our wedding. it was the grooms cake (whatever that means)

    not the big fancy one

  • Norco Bob

I guess I should have been more specific when I said I put a bundle on it,..but to me 40 bucks is alot,..so there. When I do parlay cards though, I always go for 60 bucks,..the payoff is around 800 for a 4-spot. I hit about 3 a year.

  • Norco Bob

wannaberocker,..you live in the friggin midwest??????????…I thought you went to games out here,…you dont go to Raider games?…last time I was in Arrowhead, Gruden was our coach.

  • RaiderRockstar

every guest at the baby shower would be fumbling thier cake away!

it’d be like trying to catch a pig with bacon grease on your hands…

  • Norco Bob

I think it was season opener,..with fake refs…then next day 9-11 happened. :( weird because we flew on 9-10….KC to Sac.

  • RaiderRockstar

Bob, I’ve been to many games in Oakland.

only once since I moved here to MO though (3 years ago)

was visiting some friends & family in Ca with my wife.

I had to have her experience Raider Nation.

some drunks were sitting behind us and almost puked on her. LOL

  • Norco Bob

If I remember right, I think Gunther saw me flippin him off.

  • Norco Bob

I throw up at about half the games,..all good.

It was a Sunday night game in August against the Cardinals.

wife only wore a tank top and just about froze her nips off

me and my buddy kept yelling at punter Scott Player because he looks like Col. Sanders!

Neil Rackers was cool. we were making fun of him and the only thing he said was “you guys want an autograph or something?”

can’t remember the other guys name.

Tyler Fredrickson or Ricky Schmitt I think. later became a Raider. was like a midget among men out there

The NFL is considering getting rid of the three point stance to limit concussions.

WTF? Might as well throw manziers on them and change the name to the National Vagiball League.

  • RaiderRockstar

isn’t that what the CFL is?

  • bcz24

Eliminating the three point stance is like putting a band-aid on a bullet hole… Lets try the obvious step of making the players where properly fitting helmets first.

I read somewhere that many concussions would be eliminated through the use of mouth pieces…some players just don’t like to use them.

  • bcz24

The NFL doesnt enforce the uniform properly. It will fine a guy if his socks arent tucked into his pants for a specified period but doesnt do anything to guys who dont wear mouthpieces, proper leg padding, proper shoulder pads, properly fitting helmets etc…

So what if the players’ cognitive abilities are impaired when they are 50? Entertain us, make your money, and stfu. If you don’t like the risks, then go work in the real world.

    ……………….

    Nice try.

Nobody watched the national anthem for the performance. People watch it to see if the singer will suck, so they can make fun of them. And Carrie delivered. Stop trying to spin it and make it seem like peoples expectations were too high or whatever, and it’s therefore on them. She sucked, we’re laughing at her. Get over it. Could your little blue pill induced boner for Carrie be any more obvious? I mean, anybody who would defend that awful performance…

Colts lost by playing not to lose. Conservative on offense and defense. They didn’t blitz because the media said you can’t blitz Drew Brees. When your defensive coordinator is ESPN, you’re going to lose. One thing I’ll give to Al is at least he doesn’t march to the tune of media pundits when it comes to team needs. The only problem is, he’s crazy and doesn’t know what he’s doing, either. But the Colts lost by doing the polar opposite. They did everything by the handbook. No innovation. A corner blitz could have put that 10 minute drive to a halt.
