Hard to imagine a stadium is `feasible’

So the there’s a “feasibility study” on the table for the Oakland-Alameda County Authority board to look in to the possibility of a football stadium which could house both the Raiders and 49ers, according to the Oakland Tribune.

The study would cost $125,000, and seemingly wouldn’t take nearly that much to determine city and county residents are wary of anything having to do with their local government in conjunction with the Raiders.

Taxpayers still have $150 million to go to cover Coliseum upgrades from the deal that brought the Raiders back to Oakland 15 years ago. They’ve had three winning seasons during that span, are currently on a string of seven consecutive blackouts and even their own fans are paying for billboards calling for Al Davis to surrender football decisions to a general manager.

It’s not like sending JaMarcus Russell and Tom Cable out to rally the public is going to build a wave of enthusiasm for the project.

Look, I’m all for a shiny new facility even if it’s half of what Jerry Jones pulled off in Dallas. But Jones got it done with considerable help from Arlington, and the city of Oakland and Alameda County are simply not going to be able to fund a stadium. Nor should they, in the current economic climate.

When it comes to stadiums in the Bay Area, the biggest problem faced by local franchises to get something done is AT&T Park. The San Francisco Giants have set the bar impossibly high, paying for the stadium themselves and paying down the debt themselves.

That’s the starting point.

And probably the ending point, as well.

Of course, I’m the same guy who picked the Colts to win big in the Super Bowl. Look forward to all your e-mails when they break ground on the new stadium.

The questions you guys should be asking are

    ***

Sey Bush: so QB play isn’t part of the problem or solution?
    ===================================================

Obviously it is. But it is also not the end all either. Watching the replay of the SD game the lst game on Monday night, I see dropped passes, Dmac slipping, an offensive line that played well early getting beaten late, and a defense that gives up the game with 40 seconds to go. Can’t really blame the Q for all those woes.

The questions you guys should be asking are is Darren McFadden going to be better? Is Michael Bush going to be better? Is the offensive line going to be better? Is Louis Murphy going to be better? Is Chaz Shielens going to be better? Can we get a good young Fullback in the draft? Can Heyward-Bey contribute? How do you integrate both Brandon Myers and Tony Stewart to take some of the pressure off Zach?

    ——————————————————-

Some how, it always comes back to Russell. Even if all those things happen in our favor, we’re still going 5-11, lol!

Raider like plays in game 1 …

Murphy dropping the TD pass at the half, and turning right around and giving up a big return to Sproles.

    DMAC Fumble at mid field.

Giving up 3rd and 17s TWICE in the 4th qtr that led to TDs.

the players said he walked between stations, while everyone else ran..each and every day at camp…what part of that confused you?

After THREE YEARS he STILL doesn’t know the whole playbook, by HIS admission, AND the teams…what part of THAT confused you?

    ——————————————————-

When did they say that he walked between stations?

And you think it’s the same playbook for the past 3 years? Kiffin, then Knapp, then Cable, then Cable-Hackett-Tollner? Same playbook? Really?

And when did he admit he didn’t know the playbook? When did the coach say that? ANd please don’t quote a message from someone like Steve Young opening night.

If Russell didn’t know the playbook, why did Cable call so many passing plays? Why didn’t Russell have one of those wristbands with the plays on it?

Where the hell have YOU been?
JERRY STATED IT HERE..pointed out how Garcia was setting a pace JR didn’t even bother to emulate. How if Garcia was brought in to show JR how to apply himself, JR could care less. Jerry also pointed out how, while others were running sprints, JR was standing at the water table, chatting.

And STOP with that ridiculous “new playbook”..new coor. rarely ever just DESIGN BRAND NEW NEVER USED BEFORE PLAYS. Sure there is a twist thrown in here and there, different formations, etc..but it’s not like everything starts over from scratch.

What? You read about how the players and COACHES stated they were only using a portion of the plays, and only exposing Russell slowly to new plays because he’s a Rhodes scholar??

why do people insist on looking at 3 or 4 plays during the course of an entire game or even season to say that “said player” is or isn’t doing his job?

people fail to look at the big picture. When a player has been awful for 3 years, it’s hard to present a scenario using 3 plays to describe the reasons why he isn’t …

People gave Andrew Walter a pass for 2006 because the O-Line and OC were atrocious. Yet for some reason Al Davis didn’t and he drafted Russell to be “the guy”

Russell has a better OL and OC. Given 3 years instead of 1. so whats the difference? Walter was out of football last year. Russell will bear the same fate and it won’t have anything to do with his supporting cast. strong armed Walter signed with the Patriots after Oakland cut him loose. failed to make the 53 man roster. they opted to roll with undrafted rookie Brian Hoyer instead (as Brady’s backup).

Similar to Russell being replaced by guys like Bruce & Charlie IMO

    Mock Draft No2:

Round 1: Rolando McClain ILB Alabama

Apart from Okung, none of the other LTs seem good value at No8. McClain fills a big need, is a high character leader who will galvanise the defense. A safe, sensible selection.

Round 2: Maurkice Pouncey, C/G, Florida

Pouncey is the best Center in the draft and he is also big enough to play OG in a ZBS. I think he would be a serious upgrade on Satele and Morris. Bigger, stronger and a winner. Not a flash selection but smart.

Round 3: Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale

We need a guaranteed RT. Henderson plays okay with Gallery inside but our right-side is a joke. Veldheer isn’t ready to play LT but he is just perfect to anchor the right-side.

Round 3: Geno Atkins, DT, Georgia

Atkins might drop this far because the Georgia defense was so awful. But he is much better than the stats show and would be a steal in the 3rd. Tyson Alualu, DT, California would be the option if Atkins has gone.

Round 4: Brandon Carter, G, Texas Tech

Ugly, mad and probably a few sandwiches short of a picnic, Carter is ideal as the next RG for the Raiders. Athletic enough and much stronger than Carlisle. The new Raiders right-side of Carter and Veldheer will become the stuff of legend and childhood nightmares.

Round 5: Rico McCoy, OLB, Tennessee

A surprise entry – most thought he would stay a Vol for another year. Still raw but a high upside and will certainly make a Special Teams contribution. Great value.

Round 5: LeGarrette Blount, RB, Oregon

I was hoping Blount’s boxing skills might drop him into the 5th – not sure that’s still likely. He has real talent. An alternative RB would be the under-rated Keith Toston from Oklahoma State but I might take a punt on Chris Marinelli, OT from Stanford and develop him into cover for Gallery.

Round 7: Jamar Wall, CB, Texas Tech

Not overly quick but strong physical and makes plays. A bit of a steal in the 7th.

Seymour and Jhill, what I’ve noticed that goes on a lot inhere is the interpret the coach saying one thing and take blind faith leaps thinking he means something else. When Cable says Russell is geting there and they wisjh it would cpome sooner they interpret that as he isn’t trying hard enough.

When the cach is just saying that’s what it takes for some players rather than others. They take worst possible scenario and paint it as fact.
