Raiders still watch from afar

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, March 12th, 2010 at 3:32 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Bruce Allen’s skin remains as thick as ever.

Rest assured the signing of Larry Johnson and his checkered history won’t be received well in Washington, but that didn’t prevent the Redskins from signing him before he had a chance to visit Oakland.

As the senior assistant under Al Davis, Allen not only didn’t care when the Raiders were criticized in the media. He almost seemed amused by it.

Johnson, provided the Raiders were truly interested in signing him, is a not a significant loss. He hasn’t been the same back since carrying 416 times in the 2006 season.

Washington did have the right idea with regard to a contract. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it was three years and $3.5 million with incentives that could bring it to $12 million. And it’s doubtful much has been guaranteed.

Meanwhile, according to Philly.com, Justin Fargas will strike out in Philadelphia after not getting contract offers in Kansas City and Cleveland.

He’s scheduled to be at the Commitment to Excellence awards dinner Saturday night, where he’ll receive the honor along with tight end Zach Miller.

Fargas probably won’t use the same line on the crowd that he did with Philadelphia media.

“I’ve had seven tough years in Oakland and I want to compete for a championship,” Fargas said. “That’s the expected here with the organization and the fans here.”

Considering the Raiders recent history when spending big in free agency _ and they’re far from alone in coming up empty _ their strategy is sound. Wait for prices to come down, then sign players for lower salaries and minimal bonus money.

Meanwhile, linebacker Jon Alston, who did not receive a qualifying offer from the Raiders and became a restricted free agent, has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

What did you do to some of these people to generate such personal attacks? What do we have in this blog, a bunch of pre-teens? Obviously individuals with too much free time on their hands.

Let’s stick to football. Our team hasn’t been the same since we lost Gannon and a decent O-line. Without a real franchise QB there’s no hope of success in this league.

    O Mock draft 10.0:

    1- DT SUH (trade up)
    2- ILB Spikes
    3- WR/ KR Jacoby Ford
3- (from kirk’s tender) OT Tony Washington (according to Walterfootball: he is a 1st RD talent, but he had sex with his sister when he was 16) LMFAO
    4- DE: Austen Lane
5- CB: Akwasi Asnah, or Walter Thurmond
    7- FB, OL, or DL

How do you think Bill Romanoski would have handled JR’s attitude? I would just love to see TO call out JR in public for his lack of preparedness both physicaly & mentally. We really need to get this JR fiasco settled. This should be his last hurrah. Either he comes to camp in shape (35# less) with the right mental attitude or he should be invited to a live press release with an overhead projector. you get the idea. I hope he becomes very successful but I have my doubts.

JB, his empire and posse is starting to get it, he’s just a kid, if he doesn’t have it figured out by now, it ain’t ever gonna click, he has to make a decision, I think he has finally gotten wise from his agent, the tap is going dry….

  24. Raider O Says:

That’s sick, but I’ll give him a chance with the 3rd RD.

He is 6′6 318, ran a 5.2 & 5.18, has 35″ arms, and had 33 reps at the bench. (I’ve never seen him play, but I like his size, and according to a few sites he has 1st RD talent)

  25. KoolKell Says:

JR needed to go to an organization that ran a tight ship, and had leaders in it.

“That’s the expected here…” That’s the slaughtering the language here. He makes JaPrecious sound like William F. Buckley.

  27. JB Says:

My sense is that AD will take Bruce Campbell with the #8 pick. He knows that he can no longer ignore the O-line. Campbel has all the speed and physical attributes that excites AD but he’s also a legitimate OLT. He and Gallery could do some serious damage on the left side. I’d move Henderson to ORT, draft a premier C with the #2 pick. A MLB with the 3A pick, a DT with the 3B pick, an OG with the 5A pick, a KR/PR with the 5B pick and the best athletic football player left with the 7th pick. That should get us started. I’d relegate Satele, Carlisle & Morris to back-up O-linemen.

  28. Raiders4eve Says:

    Raider O

According to draft trade value chart, if the Raider try to trade up, they will need more then their first, third and fifth.

    Check out yourself

    http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

So lets say we trade down, to say mid first round, according to the chart, we would only get 3rd and 4th plus the mid round. My point you need to understand how teams value draft position, we have 8th overall pick, its not that appealing unless you want some picks for next year, no team would be willing to trade up and give up half of their draft for the day.

  29. KoolKell Says:

    JB

Check out the OT ratings. Bruce Campbell is not up there. He has only 17 starts in college. He’s a project with great measurables.

We don’t need another one of those at #8.

  30. Raider O Says:

I like to draft based on talent and value. Drafting based on needs can cause a team to reach for players. IMHO

  31. 860Todd Christensen Says:

JB, I’m from Conn, and have watched Cambell for a few years, he is a monster, would be a great pick with some good coaching….repeat, good coaching!

  32. Raider O Says:

I see. You are right, so we should add Huff and TK to that trade. That will make it happen.

  33. Nnamdi21 Says:

Good. Like I said yesterday, Johnson was never the same after Shields retired. Add that to his hold outs and off filed BS and its a good no sign.

Ufk Fargas. That guy sucked. Good ridance. Always injured, used to fumble alot, zero field vision, couldn’t slip a hit to save his life had only 10 TDs in SEVEN YEARS and will not make another team this off season.

Fargas can whine all he wants about how Oakland sucked, but hes part of the reason.

There are very few places in the NFL that would’ve given a dud like Farg as many opportunities as Oakland, to their detriment I might add.

    Word.

  34. JB Says:

    KK

I don’t disagree with what you are saying but I’d much rather have Campbell, an OLT, as opposed to a fast CB, Safety or someone else we’ve never heard about like we did at the #2 spot last year. Mitchell may work out & I hope he does but we need to draft needs first, not track stars.

    LEGITIMATE?!

How the he-ll do you figure that? The guys only started 17 games EVER.

Plus: If there is a negative Campbell has besides experience, it’s a condition called Arnold-Chiari, which healthline.com describes as “a rare genetic disorder” where “some parts of the brain are formed abnormally.” Campbell said he had surgery in high school to relieve the problem and that doctors at the combine cleared him to play, but it could be the type of condition that might affect his draft status. – Jan Hubbard, Fort Worth Star Telegram

There are also concerns about his effort and intelligence.

NO WAY this guy goes with the 8th.

At least we know Campbell is in shape and can last 4 quarters. A lot of these OT’s are just big overweight guys. From what I’ve seen of Campbell’s highlights, he’s a devastating blocker. He stays engaged until the whistle blows. He grinds people into the ground. He and Gallery together should be able to open BIG HOLES on the left side and BOTH have he capability to continue downfield for more mayhem. Maybe with these two guys DMac can gain some extra yards BEHIND them.

IMO Campbell’s upside far outweighs his inexperience. He obviously wants to be all he can be. Too bad we don’t have more like him. Maybe his attitude will become contageous.

  43. Raider O Says:

The points you made on Campbell are valid and should be considered. I guess it’s all about who’s available when our pick arives. I just hope we rebuild our O-line. We need, at a minimum, a 60% turnover.

  45. 860Todd Christensen Says:

Jb, the trouble with your post is there are so many intangables that it couldn’t be possible to fulfill the spots that you name. interesting.

Spoon at 8, Houston or Cody in Round 2.

patch up the O-Line in Round 3 (we’ll have three 3rd rounders if we manage to get one for Kirk.) that means C, RG & RT

    ^^^^^^^^^
    Yep!

Nothing wrong with potentially loading up on O-Line in the 3rd Round if necessary.

Get the beast all three down LB who can play ALL LB spots at #8 and then draft the best DT in Round 2 between Lamarr Houston, Terrance Cody or Cam Thomas. One of the three if not two of the three will be there in Round 2.

Then go O-Line in the 3rd Round and maybe KR/WR Jacoby Ford with one of those picks as well.

  49. 24 Says:

Yeah so….some people thought Fargas was so awesome. No other teams seem to think so. He may sign with the Eagles but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back with the Raiders for much less money because he had nowhere else to go and Al Davis would say to him, “Its ok Huggy, come back to papa.”

Players speaking out about the culture here is a new epidemic for Al Davis, because he hasn’t seen the last of it. This is a new generation of NFL football players and coaches and defending someone like Al DAvis by keeping their mouths shut just doesn’t compute with them. They’re not going to take the fall.

Unless we replace C Satele, RG Cooper and RT Barnes with Mawae, Lilja and Trent Williams, this line won’t improve. I can guarantee you even if we plug in Trent Williams at RT, Satele and Cooper will cause this unit to fail, especially Satele. I wish I had game clips in my laptop, I recorded few games and Satele rarely holds the opponent DTs, he barely opens up lane for our running back. I challenge anyone to show me a clip where Satele pushs off the first guy and jumps up to the second guy some centers do. The guy is garbage or just a backup in imo. We need a new Center, RG and RT to improve this line, one new guy won’t make a difference and I have feeling Gallery won’t be healthy next year so be prepared for another lousy play from Chris Morris.

O-line yes, JR not so sure. He has a ton of bad habits the least of which include being out of shape & fumbleitis when he gets hit. How can such a large man not be able to hang onto & protect the ball? He will really need to commit himself to getting into the best possible physical shape and to learn the offense. Further, he needs to perfect his throwing style. He has relied far to long on a strong arm and regularily throws off his back foot falling backwards. This poor tecnique contributes to his inacuracy. The ball is really in his court. He needs to decide to give it his all to ecome the franchise QB and leader that we all hoped he’d be. Right now it is a 50/50 chance that he succeed or fail. I do believe this upcoming year will be the last opportunity he will be given. He’s coasted through high school and college and didn’t really have to work hard. His size and arm strength alone was enough to get him by. That’s NOT the case in the NFL. Either he bears down and gives it his all or he will have his ass kicked out of he league as just another BUST.

  71. KoolKell Says:

I think Russell feels the pressure, he just hold the ball too low, one-hand etc.

Your forgot to mention a dominant D-Line as well, along with better schemes and play calling on both sides of the ball.

Until that happends….this franchise and team will remain in the gutter and continue to irrelevant.

  74. 860Todd Christensen Says:

Not picking on anyone, our SB’s have always had BIG, REACHING, O-LINES, D-LINES. We went to the newest thing in the book, WCO, and it totally failed. It may work with some teams, it DOES NOT WORK IN OAKLAND! We are too light, we are bounced around by every team we face. Our rb’s don’t have a chance, don’t blame Fargas, he plunged his body into a never working O-line since his inception, he sacrificed it every week against a plug patch line that didn’t work. He deserves the Award he is recieving, he put it up every day, his TD’s are down because of the team that let him down. Period. He tried every day, in practice, in thought, in Raiderology, He was a man and leader of this team, not some overrated rookie out of college that everyone here thinks is the next Raider God. This team is going to loose the good things that Mr Fargass has brought to this team, ethics, emtheisuiasm, hard work, learn by what I am teaching you. I think a big part of the problem regarding Russell’s fumbling issues are just perception vs. reality. I think the general perception is that JR is this big, dumb, bumbling oaf, with zero pocket presence who can’t sense the rush, and is prone to coughing up the ball at the slightest contact.
The reality of the situation is that JR is very much middle of the pack in fumbles per sack. I believe it was Vegas that posted a link a week or so ago. The stats actually contradicted his point, much to his chagrin. His point being something about his man crush on Grads. (J.K. Vegas). Anyway, I don’t remember the exact numbers but JR fumbled on a middle of the road 28% of his sacks. I believe the worst was SB MVP Drew Brees who fumbled the ball 10 times on his 20 sacks. Whoda thunk it?

I like to draft based on talent and value. Drafting based on needs can cause a team to reach for players. IMHO

    ^^^^^^^^^
Exactly….fill needs thru free agency then draft on talent and value.

If the old dumb man Al drafts this year the way he did last year, then it will be further proof that he has lost his mind and the franchise is DOOMED until he dies or his replaced.

  84. RaiderResurrection Says:

But Jamarcus got sacked 47 times? Something like that. It works out to the same amount. Jamarcus is not a good quarterback. Never shown the field vision needed to survive at the NFL level. If he was more of a scrambler then he can provide a better alternative to poor passing skills (Mike Vick, Vince Young, Jake Plummer, etc.) Even those guys aren’t good quarterbacks but they were effective on running first football teams.

  86. Stabler76 Says:

Fargas is gone. He ate up the valuble position of starting running back and never produced. I cheered him when he had good games, but he never produced consitantly. He could not score TD’s. That is what you need your running back to do.

10 TDs in 7 years….if I had to guess I would say that Rod Woodsen had more TDs in a ten year span from the CB/safety position.

He had a 1009 yard season once. In the NFL you expect that from your starter every year.

Now that he is gone, Michael Bush will score more TDs in 2010 than Fargas did in his 7 year career.

Like I said before, you can have a razor sharp wit. KK doesn’t need me or anyone else to fight his battles. He’s a big boy. However your posts here lately, the attacks have gotten so personal, so persistent, and downright mean spirited, it’s a little creepy.

  91. RaiderResurrection Says:

I’m glad Fargas is gone. He never could produce. He attracted contact, but he was running hard behind a poor line and inconsistent line. I hated how we could never string a good line together. IT got to the point where we only ran to the left side. The right side was weak.

Then we had the Andrew Walter Disaster.

  92. buckeyeraider Says:

Yes JR takes a lot of sacks, and no doubt some of them are on him. And, even if the numbers are accurate that I posted earlier, and he is middle of the pack, for such a big man, Russell seems to cough it up too much. However, I put most of the blame on the Raiders make shift o-line. Because, the two smaller, more mobile QB’s who started after Russell, both got knocked the fugg out. That’s why myself, and most everybody else on here are screaming for the line to be addressed early and often in the upcoming draft.

This is a loss to our team, however you might not see it now, but you’ll see.

    =====================

If he was such a great leader and example why the ufk did our team suck so bad? We had attitude problems up until the last 2 yrs.

Farg gained some yards between the 20s later in his career in Oakland but the guy sucked.

Already pointed out we were a TOP 10 rushing team for the prior 2 seasons before this one and despite what the stats say, Fargas had one season unhurt.

That season he started SIX games.

Pi-ss on this. He’s gone forget him. He sucked, he didn’t produce and THATS what matters not his raiderology and enthusiasm. Some example.

Work really hard and you can be mediocre too!

    Good riddance.

  99. ohioraider Says:

I consistently get a kick on how Nation drones focus their frustration on a decent guy like Fargas. OK, he was never great, but he worked and played hard, never complained, and did what he was asked. He was far from a flop. Yet he becomes the focus of all the pent up anger and frustration that ought to placed squarely on the old douche bag who unwittingly has run his own beloved franchise into the ground.

I sincerely hope Fargas makes a comeback somewhere. Not a damn thing wrong with the guy.

A player will be blackballed for badmouthing Al? ha ha ha!!!! Yeh, like Al’s in the NFL good ol boys fraternity. That may be true if a player were to badmouth any other owner, but Al Davis? Trust me, other owners do not care. The NFL doesn’t care, either, that’s why they gave Sapp a job at their network. CBS certainly doesn’t care, Gannon’s doing fine there. There are no repercussions for badmouthing Al, other than Al trying to get even with you, assuming he even has the power to do so. So that’s why Al won’t sign T.O., because he knows Owens will tell everyone what goes on here. Do you think he’s going to take the fall? Heck no, and Al knows that. That’s why Al’s not going near him. I wish Al would sign him though. I always said that when Al signed Sapp, the best thing about it would be that Sapp would give us the scoop as to Al’s b.s. Boy, did he deliver. I hope T.O. comes here for the same reason.

  110. Midwest Fan Says:

I’m guessing I’m in the minority here but I have a strange feeling that Morrison got a 3rd round tag so the market can set his value. Oak always has the opportunity to match any offer OR receive a 3rd rounder.

Otherwise you have Kirk’s agent negotiating with the Raiders that he’s been their leading tackler last few years and would force them to pay more than he’s worth. This way, he can test the market, see what other teams are willing to offer and do all the work and than we just match it.

Think that’s what the Jets are doing with Leon. No way they let him walk for a 2nd.

  122. RaiderLen Says:

    Midwest,

I would like to see the O line addressed heavily.

    I’d like to see a D lineman.

    I’d also like a MLB.

My feeling is that this team will not do a damn thing until they have at least an average O Line.

My prefference is to see, within 2 years a dominant O Line.

  123. Raider O Says:

Who gave the retard a keyboard?

    You People….

  124. Stabler76 Says:

I would like to see some strength in the middle

    Dominant C, DT, MLB

  125. priesttj Says:

I concur, the absolute must is the Oline get it fixed with whomever and however and by any means necessary. Get it fixed. When that happens you have a foundation as a football team. I’ve always believed the backbone of any team is it’s Oline. The leader is the QB, defense allows you to be consistent and compete for a championship. Scoring wins games and compettitive in any contest.

Without the Oline none of the rest of that matters.

  126. Raider O Says:

We passed in a few good Cs last year, so why would we draft from a weaker C class?

Sign a C in FA, trade for one, or wait till next year. IMHO

  127. priesttj Says:

Without the Oline the rest of those items suffer greatly.

  128. Midwest Fan Says:

My thoughts as the picks stand now – really hoping we can find someone to move back with and acquire a few more picks:

    Sign Mawae

    8)Trent Williams
39)Pouncey or Ducasse either would start at RG
69)Yes we have pick 69! Geno Atkins
    87)Cam Thomas
    Rd4)Austen Lane
    Rd5)Riley Cooper
    Rd5)Walter Thurmond
Rd7)Anthony Harding (FB – Fresno State)

  129. Stabler76 Says:

I agree about drafting a C this year vs 2009. Is the Saint’s Center available in FA?

Of course the right side of the O-line is in real need.

  130. Midwest Fan Says:

Think Pouncey in the 2nd along with Mawae gives Pouncey a chance to start day 1 while learning the C position by one of the best. Mawae should be good for another 2 years min. Cutting it close to get him at 39 but maybe move up a couple of spots using 2011 pick, or just take Ducasse and find a C in another draft.

  131. RaiderLen Says:

Priest, Yep. O Line. It can make average skill position players better.

It empowers great skill position players to be great.

The O Line is the foundation of any winning football team.

  132. Raider O Says:

    BHP,

What do you think of OT Tomy Washington in the 3rd? I read he has great talent (1st RD talent), but he is a registered sex offender, and that’s why he will droppast the 2nd. He had sex with his sister when he was 16. She was 15.

  133. RaiderLen Says:

“The NFL is all about what have you done for me lately, and you know, I haven’t done anything lately,” Walker admitted. “But (I’m) just (looking for) somebody who’s going to dig down deep and say, ‘Let’s take a look and see what this kid can do.’”

5- CB Akwasi Asnah, P Stoudamire, or Walter Thurmond.
    5- OL: Ciron Black
    7- FB

That will give us a great defense, and that should help our young and developing offense. Our Ogfense needs more than just 1 draft. We need a C, RG, RT, and a FB.
Mario, JR, Bush, DMC, DHB, Murphy, and Chaz need to improve and develop. we still don’t know what we have with those players. They haven’t don’t much YET.

I rather the Pouncey kid in the 3rd and a HB in the 3rd as well. Also why would you give up a safety with the talent of Huff to move up 4-5 spots? If I’m the Raiders that a stiff price you can give up a backup player but Huff’s a starter. Maybe one of the 5th’s but that’s it.

  154. RaiderLen Says:

I rather the Pouncey kid in the 3rd and a HB in the 3rd as well. Also why would you give up a safety with the talent of Huff to move up 4-5 spots? If I’m the Raiders that a stiff price you can give up a backup player but Huff’s a starter. Maybe one of the 5th’s but that’s it.
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Totally agree with you on Huff. There aren’t many free safetys in the league I’d trade him for. There’s no way I’d trade him just to move up a few spots. I’d be a little nervous about letting TK go too. People love to kill him because of his contract, but that guy is pretty good. Pouncy won’t be available in the 3rd, will he? I’ve seen some mocks that have him going in the 1st.

  161. priesttj Says:

So is Okung, T Williams, McCoy and Dez Bryant. I would love Suh but you’re giving away the store to move 5 spots at the most. When a 4th or 5th would do the trick. This is a very deep draft a 5th can get you a very good player same as we did with Murphy last year in the 4th. We could tarde down with the 49ers and still get Dan Williams. There is just way too much talent in this draft to play that kind of hand.

  162. Raider O Says:

Suh and Seymour can create huge problems for OCs, add Matt S, and T Scott on passing downs and that’s a damn good Dline. J Richardson & D Bryant can play Base End one rushing Downs with T Scott as a WlB.

  163. Raider O Says:

    BHP,

That’s what I used to think, but R4 posted a link with draft picks value, and I don’t think a 3rd & 5th will make it happen. See for yourself above post #28.

  164. priesttj Says:

3 years ago we gave away fabian Washington for a 4th and Tommy Trojan said it was smart and I cursed him for it. And still do to this day. Cover corners are extremely difficult to coem by and we have away a good one. He has started for the Ravens ever since. For a 4th!!!!!!

Mike Huff is a bonafide starter at FS and I would say one of the better FS’s in the league now. I aint giing him away to move up 5 spots. I might agree if we were in the 20’s and wanted to get into the top 5. but (5) spots for Mike Huff NO FREAKIN’ WAY!!

  165. Raider O Says:

    On rushing downs*

  166. Biz Markie Says:

  167. Raider O Says:

    BHP,

I like Suh more than McCoy, and I think he is the best player in this draft. He also reminds me of D Russell from USC (RIP DR). The guy destroys OLines, and he is Nasty. Look at what he did against Texas.

  168. priesttj Says:

Raider O, we’re on the same page as far as his talent is concerned where we part ways is you wanting to part with a damn good FS to move up 5 spots.. again NO WAY!!

  169. Raider O Says:

    BHP,

I told you, according to the draft chart value posted at 28, 3rd & 5th will not make it happen.
Now, what do you suggest? Other players, 2nd RD pick next year, etc..

  170. priesttj Says:

The only way I would give up a 2nd is for next year if at all.I wuld also have to be gauranteed that Suh was at that spot and it was a lock that we culd get him, IOW draft day deal. I would give a 2nd in return for a 6th or 7th and move trade draft positions this year. Because what if McCoy last until the 8th due to both Clausen and Bradford going before we pick.

Until the draft unfolds you just can’t assume what will happen. Crabtree lasting until 10th overall. The best deals are made draft day.

  171. Raider O Says:

I also like Lamarr Houston A LOT!

  172. Raider O Says:

I like Suh, McCoy, Dan Williams, and Lamarr Houston. In that order.

  173. priesttj Says:

That’s exactly what I’m talking about now a player like Lamarr Houston whom I like a lot in the 3rd would be awesome. This draft is just way too deep.

  174. priesttj Says:

    Even Geno Atkins from Georgia

  175. Midwest Fan Says:

I again point to my last mock. Geno might not be around that late but there’s still a pretty good chance.

  176. priesttj Says:

You may be very right Midwest I haven’t studied him. It was just a guess on my part. My point is quality talent will be there to select as late as the 5th rnd. That’s just how deep this draft is.

  177. vegas raider Says:

    Bruce

  178. priesttj Says:

    Just call him “honey” Vegas!.

  179. Midwest Fan Says:

With the pending rookie cap coming… Possibly. A lot of JR’s came out making this a very deep draft. That’s why I think following the draft will make or brake the Raiders this year… More so than what we do with our 1st few picks. Make or break is pretty dramatic but I think you guys understand what I’m getting at.

That’s why I try to have some fun in identifying talent. Those who don’t get picked we have an equal chance of signing.

MR you idiot Sapp wishes he was still here getting paid he’s peobably near broke. Did you ever see him turn down a paycheck? Sapp was a loser as long as he got paid he didn’t care. He contirbuted to a losing attitude and now blames everyone except himself.

For all the flack Javon Walker gets at least he tld the owner he was stealing money. Sapp should’ve had a mask on.

    …………

    Alright, I’ll play.

When has Sapp given any impression that he wishes he were here? Here in what capacity?

How do you know Sapp is nearly broke?

How do you know Sapp has never turned down a paycheck? Is there a way to track all of his job offers?

    Sapp a loser?

What’s his career won/loss record? I know he has a Super Bowl ring. How many pro bowls? He doesn’t sound like a loser to me.

How did Sapp “contribute” to a losing attitude? Did he have a losing attitude? How so?

Sapp blames “everyone but himself”? I’ve never heard him blame everyone…just Al Davis.

  181. priesttj Says:

MR I could answer every question and it wouldn’t matter because you could just say, where’s the proof.

If you listen t Sapp talk it’s emotional, it’s never objective. That say he’s affected by someting that happened. Everybody knows he wanted another contract $5-10 mill and he didn’t get it and they gave a lot of money to TK. That’s what made him snap.

Sapp is famous for saying whatever happens in a game the “check wont change”. He’s famous for that and when a young player hears that it says compete but if we lose pick up the check and keep it movin’. He was a bad example have you ever heard anyone say they miss him………NO!! and for good reason. He was here for a retirement fund……………period

Sapp was on punked once and shuckin and jivin said out loud “I’m just here to collect the check heh heh!”

Kidding or not, it always sat wrong with me.

His loud mouth ramblings and Raider bashings speak for them sleves and have been refuted by other sin the know.

Sapp says what ever gets Sapp noticed so Sapp can “collect” another check.

Mind you, all Oakland has to do to shut EVERYONE up is to start winning games….

    ^^^^^^^^
This point of view can also be used when describing Al Davis. He was once many years ago considered a great “expert”, but now he refuses to revisit history (especially the last 7 years) on his significant failures.

Guess what….it hasn’t been good for the franchise and business……
