NFL releases official order of 2010 draft

The league released the official order of the upcoming 2010 NFL draft. Here is a quick look at where the Raiders pick in the three-day, seven-round process that begins April 22:

First round: No. 8 overall
Second round: No. 39 overall
Third round: No. 69 overall
Fourth round: No. 106 overall
Fifth round: No. 138 overall
Fifth round: No. 158 overall (the Raiders received this selection from the New England Patriots last year in a trade for defensive end Derrick Burgess).
Seventh round: No. 215 overall
Seventh round: No. 251 overall (this is a compensatory selection awarded the Raiders by the league)
The Raiders are without a sixth-round pick in this year’s draft because they used it and a seventh-rounder in the 2009 draft to get a sixth-rounder from the Carolina Panthers in the 2009 draft so that they could select tight end Brandon Myers.

What follows is a round-by-round breakdown of the entire draft (32 of the picks are compensatory):

Beat writer Sheil Kapadia doesn’t envision Donovan McNabb “putting up a fight if the price is right” in Oakland or Buffalo.

NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora reported late Wednesday that the Raiders had emerged as the “heaviest pursuers” of McNabb. Signing the last mega-deal of his career with Oakland may soon start to look more attractive than risking injury in the final year of his contract with an Eagles team that no longer wants him around. KC Blog’s take on McNabb to the Raiders:

“Various reports from all over the place are indicating that the Oakland Raiders are aggressive pursuing Eagles QB Donavon Mcnabb. Al Davis seems to be obsessed with Jamarcus Russel but he also loves flash and picking up McNabb would most certainly be a flashy move.

If this news doesn’t frighten you, it should. I know we all love to hate and make fun of the Raiders but the sad truth is, they have been better than the Chiefs recently. The standings have said so the last 2 years. They aren’t much better than the Chiefs but they have a lot of talent.

What really depresses me, is that the Raiders finished with a better record than the Chiefs 2 years in a row with Jamarcus playing QB! If they can win 5 games with Jamarcus they very well may be able to win 10 with McNabb. Maybe more.

I’m not kidding. I have been saying for a while that the Raiders were 1 competent QB away from being relevant. Well…don’t look now…”

First rumbles of McNabb-to-Raiders trade terms emerge
Posted by Mike Florio on March 25, 2010 6:37 PM ET
Every once in a while, we develop a tipster who builds a track record of providing tips that end up being true.

And one of our latest tipsters who has been accurate with past tips (for the most part) has now given us a tip regarding the trade terms that possibly would send Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Raiders.

Per the tip — uncorroborated but nevertheless intriguing — McNabb and cornerback Asante Samuel would go to Oakland, and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha would go to Philadelphia.

We don’t know whether an offer of this nature has been made. We suspect that the Eagles would, at a minimum, want to replace Samuel with Sheldon Brown.

Anyway, stay tuned. This is all uncorroborated, but we know that our friends in Philly are desperate for information, and that our friends in Oakland are desperate for hope.
    …………..
    wow

  • http://CableBumaye 909RaiderLifer

    From pft.com (consider the source)

Nnamdi to Eagles for Mcnabb, and CB Asante Samuel.

    Straight up….

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3ng4yHw2xk&feature=PlayList&p=E565EF0DE2F587FA&playnext= Raider75

    I would take that trade.

Then use draft picks on O-line.

  • HayesDaze37

R75 is right: McNabb in Oakland means no T.O. (no T.O. without McNabb either, thank you very much, Mr. Davis).

McNabb for a high 2nd and one of our 5ths would do the trick…and if McNabb were to receive a mega-deal like Peyton Manning’s, it would’ve happened already, with the team he spent his entire career with. Al’s not giving a 33-yr-old QB a 5-7 year contract.

Just paying McNabb Franchise-tag kinda money for a few years would make him one of the highest-paid players in the league RIGHT UP UNTIL HE RETIRES…a great way for him to look at the end of his career. A career made even better by his ability to lead a rebuilding team back to their winning ways.

Oh yeah, Kidd — Sam Bradford’s not lasting past the first handfull of picks, and he sure won’t drop into the 20′s.

DMC isn’t worth a 1st-round pick — he hasn’t shown his value beyond part-time, oft-injured, limited dimensions. DMC in trade MAY command a 3rd or 4th-round pick at this stage. He better be looking over his shoulder…because the Raiders MUST find another young RB somewhere. That somewhere might be the middle of this Draft.

We draft Lineman(which is a consensus on this board) and bring in McNabb somehow without giving up Aso and i’m good.

    No To Oakland:

McNabb would be willing to go to the Rams if he were to be given a contract extension, according to a source close to the situation. He would not be willing to play for Buffalo or Oakland, two moribund franchises that might be willing to take McNabb without an extension, the source said.
