Raiders sign K Waters
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 at 3:17 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders signed kicker Swayze Waters, according to the transactions page on Raiders.com.
Waters, 5-11, 180 pounds out of Alabama-Birmingham, was an emergency fill-in during camp last year for the Detroit Lions because of an injury to Jason Hanson and was eventually replaced by Billy Cundiff. He was also a punter in college _ averaging 41.4 yards per punt.
A fill-in is all he’ll be with the Raiders. Being able to both kickoff and punt means he can replace both Shane Lechler and Sebastian Janikowski during all non-mandatory offseason workouts. Neither of the regular kickers puts in much of an appearance in the offseason.

Krappy, you’re an illiterate old fool from the backwoods of Oklahoma!
Do you really think its wise to give out reading advice?
Seriously old fool, instead of wasting your day obsessing over stats, why don’t you get out of the house and get some exercise? Your ass sure ain’t gonna slim itself down with you on the blog all day!
I’d suggest you pay a visit to work to try and move that townhome, but we all know that’ll never happen.
Right Krap Krap

Apparently LT Jammal Brown wants a trade. According to him, some “West Coast teams” are interested.
Considering the Saints won a Superbowl with Jermon Bushrod taking his place, they might be willing to deal him. He also might be a safer pickup than Gaither, in light of the concerns about his work ethic.

How funny that YOU are unemployed (and broke, btw) yet suggest that I find a job! Man, you really need to take your comedy act on the road, old fool!
What’s next – recommend that I stop plagiarizing? That I stop crapping my pants? That I don’t marry an old bat with a bowl cut?
Just when I think you can’t get any wackier, you somehow find a way to out do yourself!

Guys, put your politics aside. This is a big thing today. If there was an all out nuclear war, I would not want to be the few survivors. However, i do fear a nuclear bomb going off by the terrorists with no return address in any city and the resulting draconian reaction to that bomb. Huge step forward for the sake of humanity today.

Bush appointees having trouble finding jobs
According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, the roughly 3,000 political appointees of the Bush administration are having trouble finding jobs. How much trouble? Roughly twice as much difficulty as similar appointees from the administrations of Bush I, Reagan, or even Clinton.
This is ironic for so many reasons. Why does nobody want to hire them? Are they having trouble finding jobs because of the bad economy, for which they at least partly responsible? Are they difficult to employ because they are tainted by the association with Dubya? Or did the Bush administration routinely appoint substandard C-average people? Or is this just karma?

What does the federal government do? It doesn’t fight the drug trade, because there’s probably a few “people” benefiting from the “secret” economy.

Susan Walsh / AP Photo As Americans reach the deadline to file their taxes, President Obama is looking to remind them of tax cuts that have been enacted under his watch. “I kept a promise I made when I campaigned for this office and cut taxes for 95 percent of working Americans,” he said in his weekly radio address Saturday. “One thing we have not done is raise income taxes on families making less than $250,000. That’s another promise we’ve kept.” The president noted that the stimulus bill passed last year has already delivered $160 billion in tax credits to Americans.

If the Raiders were the Oakland “Pirates” instead of “Raiders” would anybody still be fans? I would bet that most remaining Raider fans are fans of what they once were; the Silver and Black attack, the past. Most are fans of the image. Is there ANYTHING to like about this current club? We are in love with a bygone era; a brand. We hope it will come back to some form of respectability, but find it difficult to accept that we have become the LA Clippers of the NFL. It IS possible to just continue to be a perennial loser. Raiders are well on their way, and we as fans are stuck with memories of a long gone past, and a future with nothing to grab hold of and look forward to, except that the owner will finally die and begin his eternal tenure in hell.

FOX NEWS= propaganda
Definition
In general, a message designed to persuade its intended audience to think and behave in a certain manner. Thus advertising is commercial propaganda. In specific, institutionalized and systematic spreading of information and/or disinformation, usually to promote a narrow political or religious viewpoint. Originally, propaganda meant an arm of the Roman Catholic church responsible for ‘de propaganda fidei,’ propagation of the faith. It acquired negative connotations in the 20th century when totalitarian regimes (principally the Nazi Germany) used every means to distort facts and spread total falsehoods.

Fox News is No. 1 because the largely gullible right-wingers have been bamboozled by Rush, Hannity, Beck, Coulter and that screwball crowd. They tune into Fox News to find out the latest information about how Democrats are “deliberately destroying America.”
Write down all the fiery claims from say one episode of Hannity and you’ll find that at least 95% of those claims are made up, grossly misrepresentive of the facts or completely hypocritical on the part of Republicans/Hannity.

Hey Kell, you truly are stupid.
America voted for Barack Obama because he ran as an Independent, a centrist as people might say. Thus he had a 70% approval rating via Zogby poll in January.
According to Zogby poll he has a 43% approval rating (about 30% from minorities)
Why?
By the way, public information is great, if you choose to open your ridiculously small brain up you can look it up yourself. Every person who files taxes, their records are public records. If I knew you real first and last name I can find out how much you made last year.
Barack Obama made 2.6 million dollars last year. Public office doesn’t even account for half of that. Sounds like you been swindled my friend.
George W. Bush made more money this year out of office than when he was president. Why?
Bill Clinton himself makes close to 14 million a year. Why?
Politicians and Big Business go hand in hand.
Its funny when the Democrats wants to raise taxes on corporations, it really doesn’t do anything but to make the poor man happy.
The truth is the Middle class pays basically for all of the Federal government, always has and always will.
We work hard so dictators (that we vote for mind you) tell us what to do.
If you’re satisfied with being a pawn so be it, but get out of the way when the real “change” comes.

There’s been talk that George W. Bush was so inept that he should trademark the phrase “Worst President Ever,” though some historians would bestow that title on pre-Civil War President James Buchanan. Still, a case could be made for putting Ronald Reagan in the competition.
Granted, the very idea of rating Reagan as one of the worst presidents ever will infuriate his many right-wing acolytes and offend Washington insiders who have made a cottage industry out of buying some protection from Republicans by lauding the 40th President.
But there’s a growing realization that the starting point for many of the catastrophes confronting the United States today can be traced to Reagan’s presidency.

George W. Bush boosted government spending by 68 percent in his eight-year presidency, spearheaded by a 126 percent increase for defense as he waged wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Bush’s spending totals don’t include the $700 billion bank bailout added last fall to his final fiscal year, or the $787 billion stimulus package added early this year.
By the time he left office, Bush’s government had grown as a share of the economy from 18.5 percent to 22 percent.

But then the dude suddenly declares he’s buying us all a round of shots, so we do them, but there’s all this attention on us all of a sudden.
Before I know it, there’s a line of dudes trying to get my John Hancock and trays of shots coming my way.
AND my chick couldn’t even finish the hand jiggity because of all the flashing cameras.
Wait … what were we talking about?
April 13th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
The reality is that most of the issues facing the President are far too complex for just about every average citizen to understand — and that goes for the media as well who try to distill things for us but for the most part are not paid enough nor is it practical for them to fully understand everything from economic policy to energy policy to foreign policy to health care and on and on and on. For example, how many average voters out there screaming about Obama’s “reckless spending” could begin to explain why it’s wise for the government to spend in a recession to stimulate the economy (Keynesian economics) or how Herbert Hoover’s spending freeze helped send the country over the cliff and into the Great Depression? Many of the Tea Partiers are backing the same approach to governing that caused The Great Depression. That doesn’t mean that it’s not valuable to have a vocal contingent trying to ensure long-term fiscal responsibility, but it doesn’t mean Obama hasn’t been smart to do what he’s done.
The best you can do as a voter is try to discern which candidate is A) The wisest and most competent and B) Most has the American people’s interests at heart.

Republican Trickle Down failed under Reagan/Bush/Bush.
April 13th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
The American Dream also dimmed during Reagan’s tenure.
While he played the role of the nation’s kindly grandfather, his operatives divided the American people, using “wedge issues” to deepen grievances especially of white men who were encouraged to see themselves as victims of “reverse discrimination” and “political correctness.”
Yet even as working-class white men were rallying to the Republican banner (as so-called “Reagan Democrats”), their economic interests were being savaged. Unions were broken and marginalized; “free trade” policies shipped manufacturing jobs abroad; old neighborhoods were decaying; drug use among the young was soaring.
Meanwhile, unprecedented greed was unleashed on Wall Street, fraying old-fashioned bonds between company owners and employees.
Before Reagan, corporate CEOs earned less than 50 times the salary of an average worker. By the end of the Reagan-Bush-I administrations in 1993, the average CEO salary was more than 100 times that of a typical worker. (At the end of the Bush-II administration, that CEO-salary figure was more than 250 times that of an average worker.)

I think Obama more that meets both those criteria. As did Bill Clinton. As does Hillary Clinton. As does Wes Clark. As does General Petraeus. As does Colin Powell. As does John McCain (though I don’t think he’s quite as smart as the others).
Palin and Bush are incompetent for that office.
Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney are both very sharp guys, but I’m not sure I trust their motives would be toward getting the best for the average person. Same for John Edwards and Joe Lieberman. Romney, Edwards and Lieberman strike me as total phonies. Edwards is obviously finished anyway. Giuliani did a great job as Mayor of NYC long before 9/11, but he was a bit of a tyrant and I’d worry about his methods on the Presidential scale.
Mike Huckabee is someone who I think is a great guy but I’m not totally sold that he’d know what he’s doing given his insistence on a “fair tax” plan (an elevated sales tax that would eliminate income tax — wouldn’t that discourage spending, encourage under the table dealing and hurt the economy, especially in times of recession?). I’d put Joe Biden in that same category of being a good guy who I’m not yet sold on as being up to the decisions a president has to make.

Larry Ellison, baby.

Vegas, you’re a betting man. If the casinos put an over/under on Gradkowski getting injured at week 8, what are you picking?
*****************************************
I don’t get this whole injury-prone thing with Bruce.
The guy has played for the collective armpit of the NFL (Tampa, Cleveland and Oakland) on some crappy teams and has been hurt only once.
If he gets hurt this year, than yes the label applies. Besides, Bruce “Adonis” Campbell is coming to help clean-up some of the O-line issues
……………..
Over or under, Vegas?

I would love the draft by CBS. I would rather us have your mock where we take Trent Williams over Campbell.
I saw in this video he is the best OT on film.:http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/09000d5d817821c0/On-the-Clock-Raiders
T. or D. Williams at #8, Anthony davis, or a trade down. I wouldn’t care what happened after that if we atleast did this.
April 13th, 2010 at 8:51 pm
LOL. The funniest thing about this blog is how people say “back to football” after they get their off topic points in. This is the only blog where people do that. It must be a Raider fan thing.
April 13th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
Would a college LT with 17 starts qualify as a starter day one with the Raiders. And they need a day 1 starter at #8.
Al is so predictable, no wonder Defensive coaches read his offense like a see spot run book.
April 13th, 2010 at 8:54 pm
Also, in terms of free agency right now, I’d get these guys:
C – Kevin Mawae
CB – Frank Walker, Lito Sheppard or Walt Harris (definitely someone who can be a No. 4 CB since I don’t have one in my mock draft and I don’t think we have one on the roster).
DT- Grady Jackson
WR – Terrell Owens

Wasn’t lito constantly getting lit up and the main reason the Jets lost to the Colts?
April 13th, 2010 at 8:58 pm
Anyone else watching this 30 for 30 on Iverson?
Man, these are great shows. Well done ESPN
April 13th, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Here’s my mock:
1-Rolando McClain, MLB
Al loves physically dominating guys, and nobody was more physically dominating at the MLB spot than McClain. With Al basically begging someone to take Morrison off his hands, he might have tipped his hand a little.
2-Carlos Dunlap, DE
First-round talent will entice Al. Can never have enough pass rushers, and Dunlap may be the best DE rusher in the draft.
3-Javier Arenas, DB/KR
Will add explosiveness at the KR spot, and can fit in perfectly in the slot. Great blitzer, and very physical at the LOS for his size. One of Mayocks’ “favorite players” as he said throughout the senior bowl week.
4-Brandon Carter, T/G
Could be either a G or T, HUGE guy with a mean streak, and would add much needed depth along O-line.
5a-LaGarette Blount, RB/FB
Not ready yet to play FB, but could in the future. Good short-yardage back, and we need another back. When Dmac gets hurt again next year, we will have Bush and nothing.
5b-Jameson Konz
One of the best combine days for a guy with no real position. Could be a FB, could be a LB. Regardless, the freak athlete Al loves.
7a-Ramon Harewood, OT
Super-smart and super-big
7b-Levi Brown, QB
Small-school QB, with good size and can take over for Jeff Otis
April 13th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
wheres raider rockstar tell him im on that jimmy clausen bandwagon now, anything that means we’re ridding of russel is alright with me. We can get bruce campbell in the second i’m almost certain.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
If the Raiders weren’t drafting would Cambell make the top 20?
April 13th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Vegas,
did you see that play by Suzuki just now? if not, watch it on espn tonite. He’s an all-star this year too.
I hope we get a mighty bat by mid season.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:12 pm
Actually,
Scratch T.O. Don’t think it’ll happen and I’m not sure who I’d cut of our young guys at that position to make room. Under the above scenarios, here’s our Week 1 starting lineups:
QB- Gradkowski/Russell/Kafka
RB- McFadden/Bush/Gerhart
FB- Conner
WR- Murphy/DHB/N. Miller
WR- Schilens/Ajirotutu/JLH
TE- Z. Miller/Myers/Reece
LT- Henderson/Walker
LG- Gallery/Morris
C- Mawae/Satele
RG- Carter/Carlisle
RT- Campbell/Barnes
DE- Seymour/Richardson
DT- Cody/Jackson/Ivey
DT- Kelly/Bryant/Neal
DE- Shaughnessy
OLB- Wimbley/Norris
MLB- Morrison/Brown/Ekejuba
OLB- Howard/Bowman
CB- Nnamdi/Routt
CB- Johnson/Walker (or other FA)
FS- Huff/Eugene
SS- Branch/Mitchell
K- Janikowski
P- Lechler
LS- Condo
April 13th, 2010 at 9:16 pm
AIG,
Don’t get the game. Even if I bought the baseball package, as I realized a few years back, Vegas is in this nowhere land where the Dodger, Angels, A’s, Giants, Rockies and Diamondback games are all blacked out.
So I follow on-line.
Suzuki an all-star? Mauer and Victor Martinez have that pretty much sewed up in the AL.

**********************************
Depends on how many tackles are taken, but I think realistically he should go in the 18-25 range.
Just like DHB.
Al is like Santa Claus to these guys.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:33 pm
Campbell has a basketball background. I think the only thing this kid is lacking is experience. Long arms, good feet, excellent strength.
Is DHB really the reason we won’t draft him?
April 13th, 2010 at 9:36 pm
17 career starts in college all at LT.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:37 pm
Just like DHB, Green.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Campbell has 7 starts as a Soph. 9 starts in a injury plagued Junior season, without any ACC accomplishments.
Moving him or Henderson to RT, Campbell’s never played RT.
The Raiders need to get off to a strong start this season.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:46 pm
Vegas,
try channelsurfing.net you get everything on there. You’re right about the catcher position but there is a lot of expectations for Suzuki this year.
April 13th, 2010 at 9:56 pm
KK,
You are so freakin stupid when it comes o football is shocking. Just repost like you always do, that way no one knows it. Gawd!! you’re ignorant.
