Few things could be more annoying to the Raiders than conceding that Chris Mortensen is telling the truth.
But that’s what could happen later today if the Raiders trade Darren McFadden, whose two-year tenure has been marked by injuries and ineffectiveness. ESPN’s Mortensen issued the report, which was picked up by Profootballtalk.com.
If the Raiders deal McFadden, it puts Clemson running back C.J. Spiller in play at No. 8.
Mortensen was called a “professional liar” by Al Davis, who suspected the ESPN reporter was fed misinformation by former coach Lane Kiffin.
UPDATE: According to Bill Williamson of ESPN.com, a Raiders spokesman said McFadden was not available by trade.
That’s fine, but where were the denials for Donovan McNabb, Tom Cable’s looming firing, etc. . . .
Must be the Mortensen thing.
