Only pay cut keeps Russell around

With Jason Campbell aboard and rightly believing he will be the Raiders starting quarterback, the only way JaMarcus Russell sticks around is by agreeing to a pay cut _ something he said he wouldn’t do last year.
Russell is due $9.45 million this year but has $3 million guaranteed.
If he were to agree to play and “compete,” accepting only that $3 million, Russell could conceivably stick around.
It would serve as an acknowledgement on Russell’s part that he’s given less than his best and a good faith gesture given his lack of performance.
If Russell says no, he’d still collect his $3 million plus a minimum salary somewhere else.
That’s a gamble, however, if Russell truly wants an NFL career.
If there are no takers and Russell sits out an entire season, he’s done, and Ryan Leaf can step aside as the biggest bust in NFL draft history.

There is no need to keep Jamarcus Russell around other than Al Davis’ pride.
Jason Campbell is Jamarcus Russell IN SHAPE. Same big arm and all.
Gradkowski is the perfect backup QB, so why keep Russell around?
Cut the guy now for embarrasing Al Davis into HAVING to trade for another QB!

Without a NT, we will not be a top 10 D. We have a 3-4 DE in Seymour and Houston play 4-3 DE, they should be DT’s. He have 3-4 OLBs in Scott, Wimbley, and Groves playing OLB in a 4-3 system. We have a 3-4 ILB playing ILB in a 4-3 system that is built around man coverage. We need a NT and then to to a 3-4 system.

I dont care what you call it 4-3, 3-4, the bottom line is that we are THIN at DT. Our ends are solid with Houston, Seymour, Shaughnessy, Richardson.
However the middle is still soft! we need a Fat Dude in the middle that will force everything to the outside, or at least occupy two blockers so that Mclain and Co. can feast on opposing RB’s.

Too bad,,I was routing for him to atleast turn it around & redeem himself, but its probably not gonna happen in Oakland. He was drafted into a no win situation anyway so maybe a change of scenery & a fresh new start would be the best thing for him. Riiiiiiiiiight. He couldn’t help but fail in Oakland. Here we go fellas. The JaPorker apologists are here. You can stop speculating on what will happen if Campbell fails. No way in heck he comes close to the ineptness of Russell for one. And second, he at least has enough class not to blame his teammates and claim that there’s nothing wrong with his play. Campbell has a head on his shoulders. Russell has his head firmly planted up his azz.

See this is what angers me with Al, he always drafts about 3+ DBs every draft, always looking to upgrade the bar on DBs, but he needs to do that with the OL for like 2 or 3 seasons, for the same reason.
