That would be great, Can’t believe Tony Washington went undrafted. Thought he was a 3rd round prospect with 1st round talent. Surprised Jarret Brown and Snead went undrated too, we should try to get them.

JaDavis Russell really threw away a GOLDEN opportunity.

Unbelievable….how many days and weeks and months can go by where one does nothing but party late, get up early, eat, and repeat the next day. wouldnt u rather play ball?

Millions of kids, heck, and adults, would dream of that opportunity and never get it.

yeah, let’s just get all the best undrafted players…….not likely.come on guys,is this your 1st draft? You’ll be lucky if we sign ONE guy that you’ve heard of.You can Believe the teams know who’s out there, what they’ve done in college

  11. r8eray Says:

We got 5 starters out of that Draft!

  12. chappy23us Says:

Cant tell you guys how much I would give to be in a room with Al Davis and Lane Kiffin today hearing them discuss Ja-slob-cus’ flameout as a Raider.

  13. Chris in NY Says:

Really like what we did on Day 3 with Bruce Campbell, Jason Campbell, Jacoby Ford and Walter McFadden.

I could see BC as our starting RT by Week 1, Jason Campbell as our starting QB, Ford as a dynamic return man and big-play slot WR and McFadden vying for the Nickel corner spot. He’s considered a better matchup against the quick Welker type slot WRs than Routt, who’s better on the outside.

  14. Pretty Rick Says:

Now its time for them to go to work.

Maybe more if you consider pre-draft trades and the trade of a 2012 4th:
    MLB – McClain
    DE – Houston
    RT – Campbell
    KR – Ford
    Nickel – McFadden
    QB – Jason Campbell
    OLB – Wimbley

Plus Groves could be a major factor and if we do go to a 3-4 Goethel could battle Ricky Brown for an ILB spot.

Someone said a knock on Campbell was that he was not a vocal guy or a rahrah guy.

Well, he didn’t wait on the team to say anything before he got on tv and called out Russell by announcing that he would be the starting qb in Oakland.

    I love it.

Hell of a draft!!! A new attitude in Oakland this season. Lets stop being negative, and look at our future.

  28. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Jason Campbell is a hard worker…has adapted to change…never threw his team/coaches under the bus…completes his throws….this is a good qB.

Zach Miller is going to be a household name now.

Hue Jackson will design a good offense.

And we have a potentially elite defense that can carry the team

  29. manassamauler Says:

next year we’ll draft for oline

  30. Carl Weathers Says:

THe best move of the draft was bringing in Jason Campbell, because it gets rid of Russell.

Sorry to see Morrison go but, it had to be done.

This has to be the first Raider draft where they address the lines, well and MLB the 1st 4 picks!

    Well done Al.

    =====================================================
Not a cause for celebration….that means the Raiders drafted the biggest bust in NFL history.

Not something you want your team to have as a distinction.

  39. Try Some Reality Says:

Whats with all the Cody Love on here???
    =========================================
I agree. What’s with that? Cody has weight and motivation issues. Sound familiar? This team wants no part of that.

if the Raiders cannot develop talent, how do you explain guys like nmandi, miller,or branch ???? fuk you dumbasses.

  55. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    4eva,

The Raiders play a role in the nuclear explosion that was JaDavis.

The environment where a QB can come into camp overweight, not know the playbook, misses passes, struggle for weeks AND STILL BE GIVEN THE STARTING JOB….is the owners fault for not deferring to the coaches

Not getting JaDavis in camp on time and basically throwing away the 1st year is the owners fault

2 head coaches, 3 or 4 OCs, 2 QB coaches and a sketchy offensive line is the front office

And throwing a bunch of rookie receivers, that were EXTREMELY raw is the front office as well.

Not to take anything away from the total indifference of JaDavis and his slothfullness.

Quite simply, Al Davis was one of the worst drafters of the last few years! Fortunately he redeemed himself the last couple of days.

  56. Raider E Says:

we just have had some bad luck, and DHB is gonna be the new James Jett. I personally loved thst dude.

  57. Try Some Reality Says:

Good point 4eva. Not entirely on the team. I don’t think anybody could put any less effort into their trade than Russell did. You have to try hard to be that lazy, aloof, and unprepared. He’s an embarrassment both to himself and to his family. What kind of values did they teach (or not teach) this kid? I hear all the young guy with money thing but come on. When we get a rookie cap, they should name it the Russell Cap. No, seriously, they should.

  58. A.B. Paine II Says:

This is from Yahoo sports, Raiders 3rd best draft:

Oakland Raiders: And we’re not even grading on a curve! Giving up Kirk Morrison(notes) for a Ziploc bag and a couple of Kit Kat bars was a bad move, but it was totally mitigated by getting Jason Campbell(notes) for a fourth-round pick … in 2012! And instead of grabbing athletic freaks with limited football skills, Oakland addressed needs in their interior run defense, and took the projects later on. This is the kind of draft that could make the Raiders an upset special, if not a competitive team, in the short term. All we want to know is, who locked Al Davis in a closet?

  59. Try Some Reality Says:

Wow, compliments from the Yahoos at Yahoo. That’s a first.

  60. Raider E Says:

  63. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

JaDavis was slothful, indifferent, lazy, skipped meetings, didn’t master the playbook, and a whole host of sins.

Forget that garbage. Its one thing if a guy just struggles on the field but tries…this jackazz just sat around…and enjoyed the money.

Al should cut him with immediate effect.

We have a long-term QB in Jason Campbell.

    I believe it!

  64. fat kidd Says:

  65. RaiderMario420 Says:

Some interesting guys the Raiders could bring in for camp on offense:
    LeGarrette Blount, RB Oregon
    Seyi Ajirotutu, WR Fresno State
    Danario Alexander, WR Missouri
    Verran Tucker, WR California
    Stephen Williams, WR Toledo
    Brandon Carter, OG Texas Tech
    Mike Tepper, OT California
    Jeff Byers, C Southern Cal
    Alex Parsons, OG Southern Cal

They seem to be set on defense. It will be interesting to see what Cable referring to regarding changes on the DL.

  66. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Bruce Campbell tore that pectoral muscle…and everyone realized, damn, this kid is an injury risk.

    Let’s get us a QB!

  67. Raider E Says:

    SnB;
Did you like the pick at the time? be truthful….

  68. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

    “Gradkowski”

Campbell is a nice pick in the 4th

  69. Try Some Reality Says:

Snb – All highly ranked QBs – as Russell was, even by some of the experts – tend to go to bad teams. Very rare that you go to an ideal situation. With that said, Russell was a complete joke. No leadership, terrible work ethic, no responsibility. Clearly outplayed by journeymen Gradkowski and Frye.

  70. fat kidd Says:

  77. vegas raider Says:

They threw out “blackballed” on Jamarcus.

When Jamarcus gets released, you will see the difference in Cable. Within two weeks he might look 5 years younger.

  78. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

I give Al Davis a tremendous amount of credit for realizing the mistake that was and correcting it.

That is the definition of true leadership.

A true leader also listens to counsel…..clearly he was listening to “somebody” the last couple of days…

  79. djohnnyg Says:

Will Russell even have a chance to compete for the job? I wanted to give him 3 games as a final shot. I didn’t even care if we lost all 3, just a final chance to see if Russell would “bring it” when he knows his whole career is at stake.

I can’t help but think that if he goes to New England or something, he’d listen to Belichek, lose weight, study, etc. etc. and then become the greatest QB ever. This is my nightmare.

Gerard Warren might actually help them as a part time 5-tech. He is a penetrator that takes plays off….plus they won’t be paying him $5M

  91. Mistabr0wn Says:

    Exactly right!
He has slightly better weapons in Oakland than he did In Washington and they are young and will get better.

Addition by subtraction! We have a good backup in B Grad.

  95. kseven Says:

How many more games would we have won the last few years if we’d had anything close to a competent QB? Jason Campbell is more than enough to get us to the playoffs.

Seymour and the other vets must be thrilled with this turn of events. At least on paper the Raider should have a formidable defense, and the offense is vastly improved by Russell’s departure.

  96. turner42 Says:

Too many haters, and too many ignorants posting here; Kafka, Flozell “trip” Adams, are you people serious? This was a great draft class, Campbell is a great pick up, if you can’t be optimistic about the team now, you’ll never be, put down the crack pipes and go root for another team.

  97. SnB offense defense specialteams Says:

Its strange. The pundits are loving the Raiders day today….as they should.

The tide is turning around here.

You will see a spirited camp and start to see and hear the right things without the “North Korea like Media Spin”

Tom Cable’s best role is not X’s and O’s….its managing Al Davis and setting the culture in the lockerroom.

If Cable, and Al Davis, leave the X’s and O’s to Marshall and Jackson…and whoever the Special…ooops there’s a gap…anyway, if Cable and DAvis leave the X’s and O’s to Marshall and Jackson, this team is playoff contenders THIS YEAR

    1. How long before Jerry changes the avatar for this

    2. I wish we had drafted a center. I really was not
impressed with Satele last year. Whatever happened
to Otto, Dalby, Mosebar, Robbins, ????

    3. Check out McFadden’s date of birth with Spiller’s
date of birth. They were born in the same year and
not far apart. So we have a HB with two years
experience while the Bills are getting this “great
back” who only has college experience. So don’t
give up on D-Mac yet. I also wonder who started
    the trade D-Mac rumors.

SeyGlen how does it feel to lick Russells nuts for 3 years only to see him go down like this ?

  104. Mistabr0wn Says:

The added bonus of getting J Campbell is KKKell, TJ, and SeyGlen cant use race as a weapon!
    :D

    The J Campbell era begins!

Its funny to read what professionals who don’t follow the Raiders think.

McClain one ot he “biggest reaches” in the draft. HA!!!

“Alabama OLB Rolando McClain(notes): It’s not so much that McClain isn’t worth a top 10 pick, but in going eighth overall to the Raiders, Oakland gets a 3-4 inside guy and jettisons Kirk Morrison, breaking even in the end.”

  106. Seymour Bush Says:

Who were the Big Winners in this draft?

Raiders, Raider fans, Raider Defense, Tom Cable, Al Davis.

Who were the Big Losers in this draft?

Kirk Morrison, Jamarcus Russell, RealMaddenRaider, koolkell and mistabrOwn because mistabrOwndildo is a perennial loser.

  108. kseven Says:

Largely ignored in all of this good news is that a “geeked” Tom Cable is much less likely to beat women or assistant coaches than a “frustrated” Tom Cable.

  109. RaiderRon Says:

    SnB,

Playoffs? You arent generally an idiot like most on here but your approaching that title by going the playoff route. Wheres the improvements gonna be on the 0-line, rb and DT? Campbell is cabable but he cant thorw from his back. Come on man, dont be dumb.

  110. aig Says:

This is the best draft in the last 10 years. Why? We got rid of Jawalrus as our starting QB. He may stick around but he aint starting this year. Just by that alone, we should be competitive. We couldn have been an 8-8 or 7-9 team had Jawalrus not played at all with last year’s roster.

Now with almost a complete makeover on the D side and some new faces on the Oline, we will be 10-6 this year with either Campbell or Grad.

Congrats Al. You’re still the man.

  111. Mistabr0wn Says:

SeyGlen, your boy JaMeatloaf is gone. You and priest can give each other reach arounds until the pain subsides.

  113. Mickey Rat Says:

Love this draft and the trade moves made before and during the draft. No doubt Uncle Al is still making the final decisions, but I believe this draft and the other moves around it have Cable’s fingerprints on it. It could very well be Cable who is the one whispering in Al’s ear. After all, if you listen to what Cable has been saying, it has turned into the exact moves the franchise has demonstrated in the past week. The “no knuckleheads” effect. Al has to trust someone. It might as well be his head coach. No one else that I know of is in that inner circle (except maybe John Madden). What do you guys think?

  114. RaiderRon Says:

I knew it wouldnt take long…. “we will be 10-6 this year” LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Same song, different year.

I went to my son’s football game this morning, talked to one of the kids parents (big 49′r) he said “what are you guys thinking getting rid of Kirk? He has been one of the elite LB in the league the past few years”

I’m actually happy about that move if you ask me! He couldn’t stop the run! I know he lead the team in tackles every year, but thats because the rest of the team can’t tackle!

Rolando is a great ILB if you ask me!
I bet we won’t be ranked 29th against the run next year!

  120. Raider J Says:

Campbell to Schillens, Murphy, Miller and Ford is the future. Russell and HeyBey can restructure their contracts, sit and learn.

  122. Carl Weathers Says:

Everybody seems to put to much thought into what individual players salary. Like Russell got paid 60 mil Davis should give him some more time… BS

Think of it as a team has to be under a certain cap. If Jafatass wasn’t on the team, that number would still be right under the cap. Money gets spent all the same. Cut the waste of skin, swallow the 3 million hit for the year and put his other 6 towards getting the rookies signed.

Have a good life after you piss away that money loser.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^6

    Years?

On paper, this is the best draft in the modern era for the Raiders… You’d have to go back 40+ years to see one better , if that….
