    So, pete, are you on the same page now? Do you now realize that I never said the other owners didn’t have the same power as Al does? Do you understand that my point was in response to idiots here making fun of Gruden for not being in the league? Or are you still confused?

    Seymour, Al DAvis would not be in this league if he wasn’t an owner. He wouldn’t have been in the league 20 years ago. Gruden won a Super Bowl 7 years ago. When did Al Davis win his last Super Bowl? Before you were born, probably. Davis can’t touch Gruden when it comes to success in the modern day league.

    ==================================================
    You are correct in stating the obvious with respect to Gruden. He won a Super Bowl.

    Gruden took Tony Dungee’s roster to the Super Bowl and won.

    I give Gruden credit for taking the same roster and winning it all. Something Dungy did not do in Tampa.

    The team that Gruden’s Buc’s beat was whom? The Raiders?

    So what really seperated Gruden from AL in the Modern era?

    One Game.

    Didnt Russell show up a day late to a meeting this year because he wa closing on a house in Alabama. I think Jamarcus saw the writing on the Wall.

  • JustWinBaby

    That would b a waste of a good career. Westbrook should just wait it out and sign with a contender. Im also hearing he is in contact with the Packers as well.

    ====================================

    exactly. Gannon was a veteran QB developed by Hackett. he came here when KC opted to go with Elvis Grbac after Gannon went 5-2 down the stretch to get them into the playoffs. Behind Grbac they promptly lost their lst round playoff game. Gannon promptly came here. Can’t really give Gruden credit for developing Gannon.

    In Oakland, it’s Jason Campbell’s job to lose
    Posted by Mike Florio on April 27, 2010 9:31 PM ET
    Raiders coach Tom Cable says that quarterback Jason Campbell shouldn’t assume that he’ll be the starting quarterback in 2010.

    Still, a source with knowledge of the situation tells us that, absent a complete meltdown by Campbell, he’ll be the Week One starter for the Raiders.

    So why is Cable throwing water on the anointment of Campbell? The likely explanation is that Cable is trying to instill a sense of competition in the offseason program and coming training camp. It’s also possible that the Raiders want JaMarcus Russell to think that he’d have a chance to keep the job if he agrees to restructure a contract that currently pays him $3 million in guaranteed salary and $6.45 million in non-guaranteed salary.

    Regardless, Campbell currently is in line to become the next starting quarterback — and hopefully to provide the kind of leadership that the offense hasn’t enjoyed since Rich Gannon retired.

    Jake Locker is a lock to go No. 1. That kid is the real deal. I didn’t realize Luck would also be draft eligible next year. Hopefully we’re so good this year that we wouldn’t have had a shot at either anyway, but I’ll be extra pissed if we have another top-10 pick and would’ve had a shot at either of those guys. They’re both going to be damn good QBs.

  • Guy

    Chris we have no 1st next year, remember Seymour? Hopefully there are some quality C’s in the 2nd and some good nose tackles and guards later on. We will probably see a new WR if we slack there too, wish we didn’t have DHB.

    Schilens and Murphy on the outside with Ford in the slot would be perfect. higgins may fit there too if he is not shell shocked.

    what’s happenin Raider Nation?
    Everybody still “Geeked” over last weekends events?
    I damn sure am. I think you can feel the aura around this team starting to change. Things are starting to look up, fellas.
    Cable has talked about changing the culture of losing that has envbeloped this team over the last seven years. I think initially many fans, especially on here, scoffed. The general perception was that the guy was a buffoon.
    However, I feel the tide is starting to turn. People are buying in. This didn’t start last thursday people. They have been bringing in some good young football players for awhile..Branch, Shaunessy, Mitchell, Murphy., and more.
    I know I’m a glass half full kinda guy regarding the Raiders, But better days are right around the corner. I can feel it.
