Cable: Raiders, Seymour working on deal
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, April 30th, 2010 at 2:19 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Coach Tom Cable said at the conclusion of his press briefing the club is working on a longterm deal with defensive end Richard Seymour.
Seymour wasn’t at the minicamp practice, having not signed his exclusive franchise tag.
More to come . . .

That would be great…would make me feel better about watching NE select with our pick next season.

Seymour is the MAN! Pay him AL!
April 30th, 2010 at 2:21 pm
Did Russell read any defenses today?
Did Russell look off a defender today?
Did Russell recognize a blitz and pick up the hot read?
Did Russell anticipate the rush and step up to avoid defenders while keeping his eyes down field?
This guy had what some billed as the most impressive Pro Day ever. That hasn’t translated to being able to play when the whistle blows.

Suddenly Davis worshipers are such realists now when it comes to the tangibles of their failing black QB.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Russell looks hungry in all the pics i’ve seen so far.

A more focused more prepared Russell could only make our squad deeper/better, Boller and Frye haven’t shown me anything so far in there careers so I wouldn’t mind them being unseated

I don’t know, when he engineered comebacks against KC, TB, Houston and Denver he sure did those things, including converting a 4th and 12, a 3rd and 19, and a 3rd and 12. And let’s not forget the bomb he threw to Murphy against SD. Wasn’t that a 4th down play? Seems he made some pretty good decisions on those plays.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
I wonder how many Combo meals $9mil can buy. He’ll have a lot of time to eat them on the bench.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Sign T.O… we need a veteran WR to mentor our youngsters… seriously, Schilens is our most senior dude and this is going to his third season…
April 30th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
Will Seymour be in shape when he signs. Did the team have Bill Romanowski babysitting him? Oh he’s a grown man deserving the respect of his peers. Sorry confused him with Baby Huey.

Amazing. I’ve said over and over that Russell’s weight is not the issue. He lacks the leadership to inspire teammates, drive to succeed and work ethic to be an NFL QB.
A NFL QB is self-motivated. JR needs 24/7 babysitting.
A NFL QB motivates his team. He can’t motivate himself.
A leader doesn’t need Anderson to protect him from outragous questions like, “Do you want to start?”
Do you really think have Anderson wet nurse JR inspires PROFESSIONALS on the team?
Russell completed some passes against air. Call the Hall of Fame! Russell’s bust in Canton will have a little Eddie Anderson on the shoulder.
^^^^^^^^
Exactly and he still needs to restructure down that bad contract!

thats about four games out of how many we played? and if he was good at making decisions the games wouldn’t have been as close, and we still lost that chargers game because your boy left so many plays on the field… Jamarcus is a bum… Get over it.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:29 pm
You made your point dave. now move on. he’s not going to go anywhere and Al is not going to read your posts. sorry…

Seymour the KC game was a perfect example of people who don’t know football getting excited over nothing.
All game JR failed to run a NFL offense against a NFL defense.
At the end the Raiders run their version of LSU’s shotgun spread offense against a prevent defense. Russell ran the Spread he knows against the stupidist defense in the NFL. Wow he’s brilliant.

This is actually a very good post and valid questions that still need to be answered…by all of our QBs, not just Russell. The whole team has alot to improve on. One practice does not tell the whole story so even if JRuss tears up mini camp..he still has to prepare like his football life is on the line. He can’t look good in OTAs and then come into pre season camp out of shape. He has to answer all of those questions above on the field.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Might be easier to give Seymour his cash if you if you cut JaHumphreyTheHumpback RIGHT F’N NOW!
April 30th, 2010 at 2:34 pm
I’m not moving on till he does. He’s the biggest mistake Al Davis has made, aside from benching Marcus Allen. I’m a die hard. so until JR is out, i wont stop ripping him.

April 30th, 2010 at 2:36 pm

No Mas if he’d grown up he wouldn’t need a babysitter. Only 24? Guess we should write off all our rookies.

From Cam Inman … noted Russell hater, and Vegas offseason story breaker …
“His on-field demeanor, however, is what mattered more Friday. He looked good. He looked better than Campbell, Kyle Boller and Charlie Frye, who took the initial snap with the first-team before Russell got his turn, followed by Campbell and then Boller.”

I’m sure we’ll get the “He’s learning the offense” excuses. Followed by the “well, he has to learn his WRs” excuses, lol!
Ya think!
April 30th, 2010 at 2:50 pm
Wait jhill, Frye is going to be great someday. He completed a deep pass against air wearing shorts.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Back from offseason to make this nice statement about J Rusell.
How many games are the raiders willing to give up for Rusell to prove himself?
Another 2-5 start? 2-4? 1-5?
Think about it.
Why not go to being a winning team with a better QB.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:53 pm
Actually terrible in french is spelled exactly like we spell it. Its just pronounced differently.

Hey Jerry. Did Russell “lay in” any touch passes like you tweeted about another QB. His lack of touch has been an on-going problem. “Throwing lazers” doesn’t equate to accurate over-the-shoulder passes.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:55 pm
The raider players dont have the morale to beging another losing season, losing from day one.
They dont got the cojones to comeback from a 2-5 start with J Rusell.
Think about it.
April 30th, 2010 at 2:56 pm
If Russell gives us a better chance of winning than Cambpell does out of camp, do you want Campbell starting to allow him to learn the offense?

This is valid but Russell’s led many 4th quarter comebacks in college as well.

After all this time and hate, I still got Russell’s back.
April 30th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
jhill – The problem is “best QB” is graded on a curve with salary, draft position and al’s ego mixed in. In 2008 Super Bowl QB Kerry Collins led the Titans to a 13-3 record. In 2009 he got benched faster than never-did-anything Russell.
How many seasons have we wasted on Jeff George, Jay Schreoder and other cannon arm QBs?
Russell can’t lead, period. This isn’t a video game. Guys won’t play for him.
April 30th, 2010 at 4:15 pm

I dont hate J Rusell, its just that he aint the prototype NFL QB…
