Raiders slowly catching on
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at 6:13 pm in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders’ second practice session Saturday, accompanied by a stiff wind, saw far too many passes hit the ground to do much for the comfort level of coach Tom Cable and offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.
For the proper perspective, one needs to flash back a year when the Raiders were atrocious in the passing game. On many of Saturday’s misplays, receivers were at least in the right spots and passes were thrown to the right place.
It’s a matter of securing the ball and putting it away.
A few quick observations:
– Have been asked a time or three about the running backs, Darren McFadden and Michael Bush in particular.
The reason I don’t pay a lot of attention to the running backs is that non-contact practices are set up for their success.
So, yes, McFadden looks terrific. He accelerates quickly, pulls away from defenders and is dangerous in the passing game. Like he always is in these sessions.
Bush looks big and swift, a load to bring down if that was the goal.
For that matter, both Rock Cartwright and Michael Bennett, the latter in on a tryout basis, looked explosive and productive.
– Quarterback JaMarcus Russell got the least amount of work among the four quarterbacks, with Jason Campbell, Charlie Frye and Kyle Boller all getting more work.
For the record, Cable says to pay no mind to depth charts or practice reps during a minicamp.

Well, let’s see…
DHB is dropping easy balls.
McFumble looks good..as long as there is no tackling.
Russell is missing wide open receivers, and throwing interceptions.
Thank God they’re other wide receivers, other running backs, and other qb’s on the roster.

Stanford Routt sucks. He is proof that Al Davis is still insane. Be ready to watch this fool give up long touchdowns all season long. That’s what he does best. I can’t even fathom how you tender a first and third round offer to this guy. Horrible.

Is it reasonable to expect vast improvement on both sides of the trenches over last year?
That means running game is better and Cambell assures us of much improved play at QB.
We will finally kick the crap out of the dolts.
Then we dominate the AFC west for the next 4 years.

Speaking of Red and Gold…
I picked up a Joe Montana Autographed Mini-Helmet a few years ago at a sports shop in Phoenix. I have no idea why I got it… it just seemed like a good idea at the time… I figured that I could hold onto it for a few years and then make a profit on it. Well, I feel that the time to sell it has come upon me, so if anyone here knows of anyone who might want to buy it, just let me know. I’m going to put it on ebay with reserve of $15, but if anyone wants to save me the listing fee, I’ll sell it right now for $175.
May 1st, 2010 at 6:40 pm
I think JR got too into booze, purp, sherm, pain pills, or robi.
That would account for the drastic change over the summer one year ago.

How we passed on Crabtree is still a question I just can’t seem to answer. We are young and raw at reciever. We need to bring in TO. He seems to have matured and would give our offense a threat to be reckoned with on a regular basis giving DHB the third or fourth best cover guy. Obviously Shillens and Murphy are ahead of him at this point. I just hope Hue utilizes are skill players accordingly. Mcfadden should be on the field 70% of the time. In the slot, out-wide, etc. I think against Washington last year he was used right for a half then disappeared for some unknown reason. Bush is the horse and needs 20 carries a game. I actually think with a proven consistent threat on offense we will be tough to play with. Hopefully a young guy steps up but as of now, it is a crap shoot.

We desperately needed someone to spread the field, not run underneath routes. There is NO ONE in the last draft with Heyward-Beys size and speed. That’s why we took him over Crabtree last season.
May 1st, 2010 at 6:48 pm
Seymour,
I will make money on it if I sell it for a buck. I went to the guy’s shop to look at jerseys and IMMEDIATELY realized that they were all counterfeit. I told the dude that I was gonna report that crap before he swindled anyone else out of their money and he said to pick something from the store and take it. I said I wouldn’t want anything of his, it was probably all fake and he said that I could check the certificate of authenticity for the autographed items and look up their serial #s online to verify. The only thing he had that I was willing to take was the Joe Helmet (no Raiders stuff AT ALL… except for some counterfeit jerseys), so I checked the numbers on it and it was legit. I ALMOST turned it down and reported him, but figured I’d just take the helmet and hold onto it for a few years and let it go up in value and then sell it.
The name of the place is the Card Co-Op (or Coop… can’t remember) in Phoenix. I believe it’s on 19th and Union Station. Everyone should feel free to go in there and blackmail the cheating P.o.S. for trying to rip people off.

Davis dresses in silver and black in homage to the Black Knights of Army (more on that later). Mr. O’Shea,
I know that you addressed the question to the guy who called us girls, but since I criticize the lazy fatass QB a lot, I’ll field that question regarding JR’s good points (this time I will limit my responses to things that are football-related):
He has a VERY strong arm.
When he was a slender high schooler, he was mobile and very good at keeping plays alive with his feet, then getting the ball downfield for a big gain. Hopefully, he can get in shape and regain that ability… it would be a VERY good point. (In high school, he was only one inch shorter than he is now, so it’s not like it’s impossible for him to get skinny on his current frame, it would just take a LOT of work… but if you’ll notice his arms… they aren’t big, so his body WANTS to be slender, but he’s put a LOT of meat and fat around his middle and in his ass and thighs. He needs to get rid of all of that to add another dimension to his game… one that would be pricelessly valuable.)
He is VERY durable… it’s hard to injure that big dude.
His play drastically elevates under extreme game-situation pressure. (The problem is that he only feels that pressure if there is under three minutes left and we are within 7 points… AND he is coming off the bench to do it. ANY other time and he doesn’t care about anything. Another imcompletion… “Oh well, doesn’t matter… I got paid.” He has to find a way to bring that sense of urgency and importance toward his play on EVERY snap.)
He is a FANTASTIC lead-blocker. Just check out his downfield blocking on reverse/end-around plays If he doesn’t work out at QB, we have found our bruising Fullback… or LT if he can improve his footwork… or DT if he can learn to hold onto someone else and take them with him when he falls down… but judging from his inability to hold onto a football as he falls, this might be wishful thinking.
Although he doesn’t throw screens well… or dumpoffs… or outs… or flies… or flags… or deep posts… or swings… or spots… or out and ups… or drags…
he DOES throw seam routes, curls/hooks, and short slants pretty well. He usually puts way too much heat on them and throws them high/behind the receivers about half the time, they are still the strength of his passing game as long as they are between 7 and 15 yard patterns.
He sells the play-action pretty well.
He hands off with authority and makes workable pitches.
His shovel passes are accurate… in fact, that’s the only time he exhibits ANY touch at all and keeps the velocity below 70mph.
He keeps his eyes downfield. (Unfortunately, he usually locks onto only one receiver and doesn’t know how to use his eyes/helmet to “look off” a DB… or only looks at a couple of options downfield… and pays no attention to ANYTHING or ANYONE in the backfield or the oncoming rush, feeling no pressure and having no pocket presence… but nevertheless, he DOES keep his focus downfield.)
When he actually eludes the rush and decides to take off, he picks up very good yardage with his feet, even though he’s pretty damned slow.
He’s nearly unstoppable on the QB Sneak.
I can’t think of any more things that he does well… and that’s a pretty pathetic list… but there’s potential there… somewhere. At least he MIGHT be able to become great if he gets his mind right and gets some urgency and QUICKNESS about him. The QUICKNESS is the biggest reason that I want him to lose weight… so that he can get out from under center, finish his drop, and MAYBE elude the rush to extend the play and complete the pass or pick up some yardage with his feet.

Kirk,
The zone blocking system is fine… it’s the PLAYERS that suck. Our personnel on the line has done a terrible job. If you think they did badly in the ZBS, then you would kill yourself if you saw them try to power block. We need big meanies on our OL, not guys who are CALLED smaller and athletic. The ZBS would work fine for us IF our OL personnel WERE smaller and athletic… but in reality, they’re just smaller.
If we improve on the OL in terms of better personnel (bigger, stronger, better athletes), then it won’t matter if we are more ZBS or more power schemes… the results will drastically improve. You can’t blame the system when the personnel suck. It would be like blaming the play when DMC fumbles or blaming the vertical philosophy when JR throws an interception. The ZBS is fine when the lineman can perform.
May 1st, 2010 at 9:11 pm
Plunkethead, no knuckleheads rule? We have a head coach who gets in fist fights with assistants. We have an owner more concerned with playing games with the press than cutting players that need to be cut. And we haven’t even got to the team yet. In Oakland, it’s knuckleheads, who create distraction after distraction, from the top down.
May 1st, 2010 at 9:12 pm
As far as improvement goes? Not to where we’re competitive. Big deal if we improved a little on paper. Have we improved to the point where we’re a playoff team? Not even close.

This year will confirm who is better. The Bey or the Crab.
Last year proved nothing because of their rookie status and because of the problems both teams had.
I think we’ll be surprised with the Bey, as he has the speed and the Crab can’t learn speed. You either have it or you don’t. I think the Bey will improve with his catching and route running and that might make him the better pick in the long run. Also, the Crab has a bad attitude and really thinks (wrongly) that he the next Jerry Rice, and that’s not going to happen.

I’m sorry if I’m offensive, but I just don’t see the point in looking at what we have and pretending it’s good. I’d rather get something good. And I don’t think we have it. And I think Al’s antics, along with the crap he allows (Cable’s antics), serve as debilitating distractions to this team.
May 1st, 2010 at 9:37 pm
Ya, you’re right and I can’t argue that. However, I saying that the rookie year, with both teams having numerous problems, wasn’t a fair measuring stick. Not for the over all and that this year will really allow us to gauge their differences. I think the Crab’s bad attitude will work against him and that the Bey, who really desires to excel (my opinion) will prevail in the long run.

Differnt types of receivers really. Bey stretches the field asnd is a deep threat more so than Crabs. I think Crabs will have the better year if he stays healthy…
I hope Bey becomes a pro bowler in a few short years.
I think its more about composure at this point for Bey. can’t argue that Crbas is the more sure handed…

With the way Schillens been getting hurt and since he is already injured, I would rather have had Crabtree then DHB. Its easy to find 4.3 wrs like Ford or JLH who can stretch the field but hard to find a solid impact WR like Crabtree. Knox from Chicago was a fourth rounder and he played better then DHB with incredible speed (personally I think he is faster then DHB). Besides, I haven’t seen DHB out running any CBs except when he is pushed out of bounds. I never liked that pick, its waste of money, mark me down saying it, DHB is going to be a bust. I said it first.

Mayweather is the best technician and counter punch master. Pacquio is similar to mosley, speed and power punch, mayweather dictates the game, he slows it down and keeps gaining points through his counter punch. Pacquio has no chance vs. the moneymaker.

I have faith that Al has finally done what I’ve wanted for so long and LISTENED to other people… and then gone a step further and TAKEN THEIR ADVICE. He still needs to get more COMPETENT help in the front office (preferably in the form of a great football-minded GM) and still needs to give more autonomy to the coaches in terms of personnel decisions and playcalling (e.g. No more direct phone line to the field so that he can call for the bomb when he wants. Warren Sapp is a total piece of sh-it, but I believe him about that).
we need a big run-stuffing DT (or two) to anchor this line. My vote is to sign Henderson while he’s STILL available or try to sign for one of the surly, problematic prima donna DTs out there who are dissatisfied with their current situations or having problems that would make their team okay with a trade (Haynesworth, Shaun Rogers). We have a couple of undrafted free agent rookie FBs that COULD address that glaring need, so I’m HOPING that isn’t an issue anymore (after SEEING the pics of them at camp, I’m impressed with the big one)… but we need to evaluate those kids quickly and pick up a bruising lead-blocking FB that can catch 15-20 passes per season if they aren’t the solution.
We still need a BIG improvement at C… and if anyone can handle having a bigtime union rep in the lockerroom, it’s Al… so we NEED to sign Mawae immediately and find out if he has any gas left in the tank (coming off a great season, so he SHOULD be a good temporary fix while we groom a young guy under Mawae’s tutelage to take over as the C of the future). We need MUCH better play at both tackle and guard spots. Maybe we have that improved personnel already after the draft, but I’m not much on crossing my fingers and hoping for the best… so Al really needs to get on the phone and trade for some elite OTs, Gs, and hell… find us a C that’s better than Mawae if you can! We sure as hell have enough DBs and 2011/2012 draft picks that we should be able to barter a bit and make a trade that will garner SOMETHING.
If we can get a big anchor in the middle of the DL, then I firmly believe that our DBs and the big changes to the LB corps will get us a top 10 pass D and a top 10 run D… as long as they take an AVERAGE number of defensive snaps. To achieve that goal, we will have to find some great players to vastly improve the OL (especially at Center), and get a John Ritchie clone that can blow up some defenders, so that the offense can stay on the field for an AVERAGE number of plays per game… and keep our vastly improved (already, except at DT) off the field and fresh. If we can get those improvements, then I am confident rolling into this season with all the same “skill position” players that we already have. I would even be willing to bet on a .500 season with JaMarcus starting if we did all that. … well, okay… maybe not with JaMarcus… but definitely with Gradkowski, Campbell, Frye, and maybe Boller.
Continue the positive progress, Al. These things need to come to pass… get them done! Don’t regress back to the things that you have done for the past seven seasons… we’ve seen what that brings. We’re on a positive road again… and the transition to excellence can only proceed if you keep giving others more say, Al. I believe that Al still has a lot of good to do for this team… but working by himself, with total control and no competent help or input from people who know the modern game will do nothing but regress us back to 2-14. I am pleased with the way things have gone for the past month, but I’m not satisfied, nor will I be until Al proves that the past few weeks aren’t just a fluke, but rather a foreshadowing of things to come… all positive and wrought about by everyone having a hand in things rather than an autonomy of outdated philosophy.

I certainly thought the Raiders would cut bait with Jaloser before the mini-camps started. Now, if he gets injured, we’re on the hook for $9 million. I can’t figure out whether Al is just desperate to NOT catapault the Raiders organization to the top of the All-Time Draft Bust list by jettison-ing the fat load, or if he’s just treating #2 as a 24 year-old draft pick just trying to make the team. There is NO WAY you can give him the keys to the offense this year — he destroyed everything around him over the past two seasons. Maybe Al figures that keeping #2 around will make Jason Campbell work harder — truth be known, I feel comfortable with J. Campbell and Grads … let’s save our money and go out and grab an impact defensive line player!

Now about Russell…

Rahway, NJ here… Saw Anthony Davis play in every home game last year and my brother in law was on Rutgers squad 2 years ago and knows him very well…
Davis is fat and lazy… he got over on pure athleticism at the college level in a weak division..
He is also VERY weak in the weight room…. Another Andre Smith, but even lazier….
Good luck with that pick.. it was a horrible one..

The Raiders really did their homework on the draft this year … it shocked a lot of the nay-sayers. I believe we putting together the nucleus of a solid team for a few years to come.

DHB isn’t as much of a bust as JaLoser. Many of us thought that #2 had all the physical skills and presence to lead the team — we were DEAD wrong. However, I haven’t talked to a single person that ever believed DHB was worthy of a first-round selection. I wouldn’t call that a bust – just screwed up thinking on the part of an owner (Al must have had a mini-stroke just before making that pick!)

DHB is limited. He is still having trouble consistently catching the ball. This guy will never be an 80 catch receiver.
He’s here to hit on one big play a game type guy. He’s a 40 catch guy that hopefully has a high “yards after catch average”
He shouldn’t have been picked 7th overall as he is just like Bruce Campbell.
Raw as can be who left school too early.
Al Davis LOVES paying for players that take forever and a day to develop…he also loves paying these athletes for their senior year of college.
DHB should have and I guess, would have been a 2nd round pick had he not had that 40x that got Mr. Davis all excited

It is ridicuolous that we are hearing the same crap from last year with all the dropped balls.

THis is only OTAs so no need to panic. But if we hear this crap during training camp, don’t expect “the lights to come on during game time”
Receivers have to catch the ball.
I would bring in a couple of vets to spur some competition with these guys….especially DHB and Murphy.

Q: What is your main goal, what is it that you mainly want to get out of this mini-camp?
Cable: I want us to learn. I told the team, no one is going to get a job or earn a job on this team between now and the end of June. What you can do, is A: you can get yourself cut because you don’t know what you’re doing and you’re not working hard. And B: you can prepare yourself to go to camp and to earn a job. I think that’s the most important thing is that we’re really wired into what we’re doing and how we’re doing it.

4eva,
Forget about Jabustus, he has to earn our respect. Bruce didn’t do much to earn all this (love). He won a few games, and he didn’t look good doing it. He got injured playing golf. He is soft bro.
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:28 am
with that mentality he should have cut russel his rookie season along with some other people on our roster
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:28 am
Jhill….
Suppose #2 is 4 real in all aspects of his game this year. With his Big Arm we would be able to score quickly, maybe 2 quickly, kinda like Dan Fouts, and we all know how that worked out 4 da dolts.Their defense was cooked by the late 3rd quarter.
#2 cannot throw the touch pass that is needed in a “ball-control” offense. The kind that eats the clock and keeps your defense fresh.
That the type of O that I want….Ball-Control Colck-Eating Fresh Defense type of offense that only Bruce can deliver, imo
Dont know much about JC except he has a very good arm.But can he eat a clock?

Year 1 – LOL, uh, does it really matter? McClown and Culpepper were going to start and play most of that year. Everyone was pretty excited when he finally came in and showed glimpses. TD pass to Porter against SD? Yeah, I know you were cheering, lol.
Year 2 – Kiffin/Al Saga .. ah yeah. I don’t recall ONE person sitting here talking about Russell. I recall Kwame Harris and Cornell Green being ragged on for being the WORST starting OTs in the league. I remember Ronald Curry all of a sudden dropping passes and getting demoted. Ashlie Lelie? Kiffin, Knapp, then Cable calling plays? And through all that, 2 BIG wins to finish the season that had EVERYONE looking forward to next year.
Year 3 – Awful! Ridiculously awful!
1 bad offseason and 9 bad games by my count.
Unforgiveable?
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:32 am

I dont think we should cut Jabustus, but he has to earn a roster spot by working hard and playing well.

If the guy is the best QB on the field and he gets cut, I just don’t see how that boost morale? There is not ONE QB on this roster that should be assured of anything. Jason Campbell and Bruce Gradkowski do not guarantee us anything. They do NOT have a history of winning in this league, so bottom line is I hope the best guy gets the job.
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:39 am
well ok give you the rookie season but c’mon he is $hitty i’d watch that two girls in a cup again before i want to see j russel in an oakland raider jersey on sunday again and that vid made me…. well its just wrong like #2

I’m saying let the best man win, WHOEVER it is.
I don’t care about what the “grapevine” is saying. If Russell is the slouch you and a lot of folks think he is, you won’t have anything to worry about, right?
But I personally have a concern if this fat POS is still the best QB on the field. And with all the hard work and preparation by the other 4 guys this offseason, the fat POS was the best guy on the field day 1.
I know, I know, so what, right?
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:43 am
i agree the best man should have the job if its russel so be it, bit i just dont see him winning any games i’ll have to see it to believe it.
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:43 am
My first post here. What up Nation?
Just want to say thanks to Jerry Mac, good job, dramatically better than the JOs at sfgayt.
Hue Jackson sounds like a great addition! I like Cable, but he wore too many hats last season – glad he got help instead of S-Canned. Some continuity from one season to the next is greatly appreciated!
Last year was embarrassing. I can take a loss, I just hope we don’t get so demoralized this year. I know players (especially Jumongous Russel) need to take some blame, but getting beat by NYJ 38 – 0? That kind of loss is an indication purely incompetent coaching and game-planning.
After last year, I just hope we can finish 7-9 or better. It’s a long road back to respectability, let alone greatness!
Here’s to our off-season, feels good to at least be moving in the right direction again!
Raiders!
May 2nd, 2010 at 9:47 am
Ok I’ll say it again because I like 2 lol
#2 totally dis-respected Big Al by not giving a rats azz about nothing except #2.By excepting the $$$$$$$ he agreed 2 do the very best he could do.He didnt.
In the mean time….
While the 52 other players on the team were of a like mind, there was 1 that wasnt. These other 52 players took their job and the History of the Oakland Raiders to HEART.While bustin their collective azz, there was 1 that wasnt….

You’re right about the receivers, but Shilens wasn’t there, and they have a couple of brand new guys. They are also installing a new system. One that comes from Hue Jacksons Baltimore team. So with that in mind Kyle Boller should be doing good as well.

When DHB was drafted you could tell he was in over his head. When he went out on the field, you could tell he was in over his head. But he is a really solid kid. All of his college coaches said that, and that is one of the reasons that the Raiders took DHB’s word on drafting Bruce Campbell. DHB caught his lst NFL TD late in the year, was gaining confidence, and should be day and night better this season.

It’s hard to understand why anyone still believes that JaMoron has a chance to become a decent NFL QB.
It’s almost as if his horrid play and complete lack of prowess over the last 2 years never happened.
The only rationalization can be that the Raids have invested so much into JaMoron – and he has such great physical tools – that Raider fans can’t bear the thought that JaMoron is a colossal bust.
The simple truth is that JaMoron is too innacurate and too stupid to succeed in the NFL.
Doesn’t matter if he gets in tremendous physical shape, develops an impecable work ethic, and studies the play book and game film relentlessly.
He’s too dumb and too innacurate to succeed.
On the other hand, we have ‘Garbagekowski’. He doesn’t have JaMoron’s rocket arm or imposing physical stature. But he does have some accuracy, and most importantly, he actually performed decently and elevated the team around him when given a chance.
‘Garbagekowski’ showed me more heart and talent in the win against the Steelers than JaMoron ever displayed on an NFL field.
Yet there are still those clamoring to give Russell another chance and suggesting that JaMoron is deserving of a roster spot and Garbagekowski is not.
Russell is indeed being given another shot. He’s going to be given a chance to show he’s capable of thoroughly knowing the playbook and he’s got to show improved accuracy and a semblance of touch if he has any hope of remaining a Raider.
It is only Al Davis’ fear that Russell might come back to haunt the Raids wearing an opponent uniform that accounts for JaMoron even being invited to camp.
But Davis needn’t worry. JaMoron isn’t going to suddenly develop any accuracy – and he isn’t going to grow a brain.
Now if only JaMoron will take a pay cut and the press will cooperate and rave about the ‘new and improved’ Russell’s camp performance…we might get a late draft choice for him.
But even that is doubtful.

SteveAlford21..post #125:
Great observations and insights and well explained. I overstated the importance of the center position the other day, stating that a big upgrade would bring one or two extra wins. I was immediately jacked on that! My BAD!
However, a big upgrade would help our offensive line big time, in our run blocking and pass defense and that would add extra points and extra first downs and that might translate into an extra win. I see us at 500 and maybe better if Al can find the courage to dump the fat-burger champ, fat-ass, Ja-happy-meal, Marcus. His current work ethic is too late.
May 2nd, 2010 at 10:56 am
Raiderman99:
you’re absolutely right on…100% on your JaMoron observations. And, you’re correct about Al’s inability to deal with the dropping of the “fat-burger champ,” fat-ass JaMoron, aka: bring me a happy meal. I agree with you, JaMoron is too stupid and too inaccurate too succeed else where but Al’s not going to take the chance. If Al keeps the fat-ass, JaMoron will probably get injured and collect his 9 Million while he buys additional “furs” (in California, no less) and eats his triple-cheeseburgers and jumbo fries.

They’re are many Raider fans who feel the same and hopefully it does translate into more productivity for the speedster. Character and desire too improve will always win out in the long run. I see the DHB having a big year, and if he does, and if it requires any double-coverages,
then Zack Miller will benefit big time. Now, that’s a player who has kept us in so many games..what a pick! The

Let me ask you: so his first year of starting he was terrible? He showed NO improvement? The last four games of the 2008 season showed he had no future in this league?
May 2nd, 2010 at 11:13 am
the thought of Russell on A Raider roster makes Me Ill! He has already proved He is the biggest Draft bust EVER! Now Davis will Pay Him another 9 Mil this year to stumble around and ebonicaly speak when spoken to. His arm is as strong as His brain is weak!
Let Me get this straight? Gradkowski Throws as many TD’s (3) in a 6 minute span at Pitt, While JaDumcus throws (3) in 9 games! So JaDummy throws a TD eveery 3 games while Grads throws one every 2 minutes.
One makes 60 Mil, the other makes 1.7 mil! In the business world and the NFL is a business, these equations would most certainly land a CEO on His Azz. Not mention a He would be forced into a mental facility for life. Al Davis belongs there!
To keep Russell even as a ball boy would be a mistake. Russell was asked 1 week before the draft who He wanted to play for, and His genius response was ” Who ever pay’s Me the most.” That should have been the biggest red flag to let Al know that this kid did not have passion for football just money.
I will give Russell some credit though. Despite His 87 I.Q. And the fact He can’t speak a word of English, He pulled off one of the biggest hiest in U.S. History. He stole 60 Mil dollars leagaly. No gun,no mask, no get away car, Just had to throw a ball 70 yards for a senile old man and collect. Russell if anything put a new spin on retardation.
I bet somewhere Corky(From Life goes on) is trying to become the new CEO of Bank Of America!

The problem with SteveAlfords21 post #125 is it flies in the face of what most successful franchises in ALL SPORTS are doing. Most teams build thru the draft. Some don’t. Most do. Sure, we all want that FANTASTIC NT that goes 355 and runs a 4.85 forty. Where is he? John Henderson? Albert Haynesworth? There are reasons that their teams have given up on them. They are PAINS IN THE ASS! And Hendersons production has decreased every year for the last four years. Better to take Mike Waufle and try to develop someone than bring in someone to poison the entire line.
Remember, with the offensive line we were in a makeshift Oline basically all year. Gallery went out, then Satele got hurt early and Chris Morris was playing center, and then he shifted to guard, Gallery came back, got hurt again. Mawae could possibly be the best center in the league, but he is not a long term answer. He is 39 years old. I think the league IS blackballing the guy, but I think we need continuity here. Not another rebuild job next year on the oline.
While I basically agree with SteveAlford on what he is saying, you can find good interior Olinemen later in the draft. Jeff Saturday, arguably the 2nd best center in the league was undrafted. Koppen from NE was a 5th. Hartwig the Steeler Center was a 6th. Between Cable, Jackson and Michalczik, we have some guys who know how to coach Offensive linemen. Coach em up fellas.
May 2nd, 2010 at 5:24 pm
We need some receivers. Schilens sucks! always injured. He disapears during the game. We need some veteran receivers. DHB is a bust as well. As for DT…Cable is an idiot for putting Houston as a DE instead as a DT. Kelly sucks and should be cut. Come on Cable..get ur head out of your *ss
