Let’s chat Tuesday

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer

Yes, I actually (sort of) took the day off to take care of some things on the home front.

Saw five practices Friday, Saturday and Sunday, however, and will be taking questions in an on-line chat Tuesday (keep an eye out for the link).

While there is enough interesting information to sustain an offseason, keep in mind the two things the Raiders had the most trouble with (other than quarterback play) in 2009 were blocking and tackling _ the very same things which have been huge deficiencies for the better part of last seven years.

Minicamps give you precious little information about those areas . . .

Canada lives off the benefit of being the United states little brother. Hardly any money goes to your military when you got the US backing you up.
    ………

    Not only that, but…

The U.S. is Canada’s largest foreign investor.
Statistics Canada reports that at the end of 2007, the stock of U.S. foreign direct investment in Canada was $289 billion, or about 59% of total foreign direct investment in Canada.

In 2008, 75% of Canada’s exports went to the U.S.

Without the U.S., there would be no Canada.

McClain can tackle, Houston can tackle.

Can the two new offensive linemen block?

With Stuart Schweigert at running back this year, the Raiders will be better at getting shooting guards into scoring position. I just he gets enough ice time so he can execute better in bunting situations.

    Good article on McClain

Kevin Steele said, “former NFL standout linebacker Sam Mills is the only other player he has coached who rivals McClain’s intellect and mastery of defense.”

Saban calls McClain “the smartest player he has ever coached”
