Good for Davis he’s the unquestioned owner GM of the Raiders cuz I’m not sure who else could keep his job after hemmoraging 10s of million to guys like Walker, Hall, Wilson and*gulp* Russell…

  4. 24 Says:

JHill – I would take drops and production vs. drops and no production such as DHB. Now…I understand our young guys need development but we’re risking a lot going into the season once again with a very young group and that could hurt us big time.

Jacoby Ford – Rookie (Considered more for special teams)
DHB – 2nd Year, Pure Speed, No hands
JLH – 4th Year, Giveth and taketh. Also disappears.
Nick Miller – 2nd year. Injury prone? (special teams)
Louis Murphy – 2nd Year. Potential but too many drops.
Schilens – 4th year. Great when healthy but injury prone.

Is anybody really comfortable with this?

Its not even fair to compare Carr to JR. Carr started with an expansion team and no o-line and had QB Ratings of…

    62.8
    69.5
    83.5
    77.2
    82.1

Carr bombed in his 1 year with the Panthers with a QB rating of…

    58.3 (His Jamarcus Russell year)

However, as a backup on a good team with talent for 2 years, had this…

    144.1
    93.6

he’s a good run after catch guy very explosive(t.o)and could give us matchup advantages

this team would have made the playoffs last year with 64.5 comp % , 3600+ yards & 20 TD’s from the starting QB!

So what you are saying Dakota is now he is like almost every OTHER HC.For as bad as some say his play calling was,it sure seemed ok when Gradkowski and Frye were the QBs.Could it be that Russell was responsible for the lousy play calling because he didn’t know the plays and when given the choice of two plays he usually picked the wrong one?
    ____________________

No, it did not seem okay when Frye or Garbage were the QBs…sorry. The #1 reason for hope this offseason is the fact that Al took away Cable’s play calling.

  22. RaiderRockstar Says:

83: you’re not alone in wanting Terrell Owens bro

not many semi-bro bloggers want him, but John Clayton & Marcellus Wiley (NFL Live on ESPN) both think Oakland would be a good fit for both him and this team …

    Hey MR!!!

Remember your declarations that he would be our QB until 2014? Al will never do it to admit Lane was right?

    Wrong again!!!

  33. 909RaiderLifer Says:

I wonder if Jerry will finally give up some of the dirt on Russell, he’s heard around the building?

  34. L.A. Raider Dave Says:

….if you don’t think Jason Campbell is a HUGE improvement over Bruce and Russell. In 2009 Jason Campbell amassed 3618 yards, 20 TDs, 226.1 yards a game, and 86.4 QB rating.

Bruce: 1007 yards, 6 TDs, 143.9 yards a game, and 80.6 QB rating.

    Russell: 1287, 3 TDs, 107.2 yards a game, and 50 QB rating.

The Redskins gave up 22 sacks last year, we gave up 21. So he did all that with a bad O-line (like ours). That’s an extra 1000 passing yards and twice as many TDs. Consider how many close games we lost last year:

    Vs San Diego Loss 24-20
    Vs KC Loss 13-10
    Vs KC Loss 16-10
    Vs SD Loss 24-16

Now if those were wins (which they could have been if we just had a DECENT QB), we would have been 9-7. That’s a HUGE improvement.

Now factor in that this is the best draft I’ve ever witnessed the Raiders have, we are going to be MUCH MUCH BETTER.

  35. the_big_one_of_83 Says:

we should sign moose and T.O and let them compete for a contract of insentives that pays for results

  36. DKnight007 Says:

    Michael Bennett had 1296 rushing yards & 5 TD’s for Minny in 2002 …

since then, not much. didn’t contribute much to KC or SD.

this is just competition for Rock Cartwright & Andre Anderson (rookie from Tulane) imo.

    may the best man win!

  41. lefty12 Says:

    +++++++

I am sure Russell did hamper Cable, but Cable also failed on taking advantage of our RBs and in getting creative with plays….he had to have goal line plays drawn up for him by players for god’s sake….I am willing to bet Jackson’s offense produces 50% more touchdowns next season.

  98. NorthLightRaider Says:

Hello fellow Raider fans from Ottawa Canada, my first post here so thought I’d introduce myself. I’ve been a Raider fan over 30 yrs, this day comes with mixed feelings for me. Sad to see the Russell experiment, which cost the franchise so much, reach its final conclusion. I you can blame all fronts on this one; AL for not surrounding him with the tools to succeed (namely a good offensive line), JR for not taking advantage of his skills and taking his talents to another level, and the signing rules which allowed an unproven player to demand such a huge salary. At the end of the day I think we should be happy though, it seems like the organization is making sound moves to stabilize and grow, and it gives us hope that cutting Russell is hugely symbolic of cutting our loses, learning from mistakes and moving forward.

    Go Raiders!
