Raiders take week off from OTAs
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 at 8:33 am in Oakland Raiders.
No organized team activities this week for the Raiders. They go Tuesday through Thursday next week and the week after, with limited media availability each Wednesday.
In the mean time, columnist Gary Peterson, the man who made “lethargy addiction” are reportable medical condition, has this take on the grievance procedure between Al Davis and JaMarcus Russell.

DHB is in his 5th season as a WR most guy’s in their 2nd year as a pro are in their 8th 9th year at the position.
______________________________________________________
its not that hard…
BHP means, when a WR is in his 2nd NFL year, they mostly have played that position (WR) for 8-9 years…
DHB has only done it in his 2nd NFL year for 5 years..
btw, Mistabrown, where is your proves about silly claims you made the other day, you came with a childish comeback, but no proves of you claims… did you caught in a lie again??
June 2nd, 2010 at 8:45 am
LMN, thanks for the translation. So when a WR is in his 2nd year its really 8-9 years! I got it! Thats brilliant, great analogy. I guess that explains why DHB lit up the NFL with what 9 catches last year?

its not an analogy, dumba55!
it cant be that hard to understand… first I dont know if BHP’s facts are right but lets say they are…
DHB played 3 years prior to the NFL as a WR, most 2nd year players have played more than that at their position, according to BHP they have played 6-7…
which means they played exclusively WR in High School as well..
no you get it ?… btw I recommend you to look up what analogy means, you clearly cant grasp that yet..

My very own brother, who worked for the State of California until he retired, which he means every cent he ever earned was taxpayer money and the pension he receives is also, yet he always votes for political candidates who promise to eliminate taxes.

No. Haynes had the one good year his CONTRACT year and has been hurt every season. Under performer and pricey.

Mawae would be an upgrade if only for a year. He’s got 15 or so seasopn under him and aws President of the NFLPA would be in conflict with Davis suing Russell since Russell’s represented by the NFLPA.

Would you bring in John Henderson which doesn’t seem to really have much risk other than a financial one?

Turdell Owens? No thanks.
he’ll demand to be the #1 WR and the ball. the rooks had thier own drop issues last year. no need to bring another dropsie queen in to “mentor” them. The only guy in Jason Campbell’s face should be Hue Jackson and the only guy in Hue Jackson’s face should be Tom Cable. Owens has no respect for authority or leadership and this team has lacked in both categories WAY too long. Darrius Heyward-Bey will be better than a 36 or 37 year old T.O. anyways (write that down)
Haynesworth, Henderson or Mawae? bring’em on.

Heyward-Bey attended the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland, where he played football as a WIDE RECEIVER and linebacker. During his senior year, he earned first-team all-state honors and was named a PrepStar All-American. In track and field, he finished fifth at nationals as a junior and was the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.[1] He also ran a 60 meter indoor time of 6.83 his junior year and 6.82 his senior year, the joint 6th and joint 4h fastest times in the nation respectively.
Heyward-Bey was recruited by Alabama, Boston College, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and Virginia, before ultimately choosing to attend Maryland.
He spent 2005 on redshirt status. In 2006, he ran a 4.23-second 40-yard dash, which set the school record for a wide receiver. That season, he was considered one of the top rookies in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and earned first-team freshman All-America from the Sporting News and Rivals.com. He led the Terps with 45 receptions, and set a school record for a freshman with 694 receiving yards.[3]
In 2007, Heyward-Bey was placed on the Biletnikoff Award watchlist. He led Maryland in receptions, with 51, and receiving yards, with 786. His 63-yard touchdown reception in the 2007 Emerald Bowl against Oregon State stands as the second-longest in Maryland bowl history. At season’s end, Heyward-Bey was awarded the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player honor.[1]
During his junior season in 2008, he made 42 catches for 609 yards and five touchdowns, and earned an All-ACC honorable mention. On January 7, 2009, Heyward-Bey announced that he would forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft.[4] He finished his career at Maryland second in school history in career receiving yards with 2,089, third in receptions with 138 and tied for third in touchdown catches with 13. In just three years, he was second only to Jermaine Lewis in receiving yards.[5]
………………….
I don’t know who said DHB didn’t play WR in High School, but that is wrong.
DHB was redshirted in 2005. He still practiced as a WR.
Started 06,07, & 08 for a total of 37 starts in NCAA.
Add that to last year and he has at least 6 or 7 seasons as a WR.
June 2nd, 2010 at 10:56 am
Same goes for Flozell Adams, Tra Thomas, Mike Gandy, Randy Thomas, Shawn Andrews, Chester Pitts, Chris Hovan & Terrance Taylor.

Porter ran a 4.28 (Raider speed) at Rutgers’ 2007 Pro Day, but he’ll be a major long shot for a roster spot. He’s behind Nnamdi Asomugha, Chris Johnson, Stanford Routt, and promising rookie Walter McFadden on the depth chart.

Yeah more than likely……I expect Mario to look better and gallery is solid at best not a pro bowler on the left side. Right side is a concern with a rookie at right guard and langston walker trying to play in the zbs. The key to this line is Satele. The ability to handle team’s Nost Tackle will allow the running game to have legit shots at being consistent

Henderson really wore out late in the year. You wonder if Henderson wore out, or if he just got tired of blocking for Russell.
One thing that most here don’t talk about is how many different C/LG combinations did we have to employ last year? That constant shifting did not help the interior line play.

YEAH TELL EM ZACH!
Q: It appears to an observer that the offense feels like you guys are more on the same page. More snappier, less thinking, more reacting.
Miller: I would say, definitely. We have an up-tempo offense, and out here, as you see, how we are [practicing] rapid-fire type plays. You know, we’re having some success in OTAs.
Q: Under Hue Jackson, new offensive coordinator, what difference has that made?
Miller: You know, he is just bringing a whole different attitude. He is all about being aggressive as an offense, and making sure we score points, make big plays. He knows we have the talent, we just have to be able to put it together.
Q: What is the balance between the talent you have, the X’s and O’s, and then attitude?
Miller: It’s a fine mix. You have got to have all three, and you have to got have them all in the right proportion. We are working on all three, and just working on executing, and being an explosive offense. As you can see out here, I think we are really coming together.
Q: It appears as that QB Jason Campbell has really come up to speed pretty quickly.
Miller: Oh yeah, Jason’s been learning quickly. He is picking up more and more every day. You can see that, between this week and the previous weeks. We’ve got to keep improving. Keep having fun out there, because practice has been fun.

Routt doesnt suck IMO. We seen him start in 2007 and showed he can play in this league. I noticed still CJ37 gave up TDs and big plays in 2009. who where it then? our Safeties? or, what… problem with our team is not pass-d, its the run defense, and the CB2 and CB3 isnt helping (yeah I know CB3 mostly in on pass-situation, but when they trick you the CB3 needs to be okay to stop the run and they aren’t) the LBs was crappy stopping the run as well, hopefully McClain will stop that, but truth is that a LB corp is only great when the D-line does their part and our D-line doesnt…

It kinda does. It would be a miracle if he was to do anything more than fill in or specialty packages.
Run blocking is NOT his forte’ and needs a ton of work. Like I’ve mentioned before moving him inside may give him help, but it also negates one of his attributes, his 36 1/4 in wing span.
Watching that victory over the Broncos Langston Walker dominated at LG filling for Gallery and we ran all over Denver.

He needs to have his break out year or f him he’s gone.
Watching film of him, he’s often lazy, getting caught looking in the back field and taking bad angles.
