Raiders could get stationary target

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at 9:00 am in Oakland Raiders.

Ordnarily, a first-time offender in the eyes of the NFL gets the benefit of the doubt.

However, it’s conceivable Tennessee quarterback Vince Young could ride Ben Roethlisberger’s coat tails and be slapped with a one-game suspension _ meaning he’d miss the season opener against the Raiders.

Young was 8-2 as a starter after replacing Kerry Collins for the Titans last season, reviving a career that appeared dead in the water because of personal issues and poor play. An alleged assault caught on film at a strip club at 3:30 a.m. may be enough for Commissioner Roger Goodell to follow up the six-game Roethlisberger hammer and put Young out of action.

Collins is a more dangerous medium range and deep thrower than Young but much easier to prepare for considering the Raiders will have an entirely new corps of linebackers. They can play run or pass, and not be concerned with a quarterback which can get them out of position with his feet.

Add to that the status of running back Chris Johnson, the 2,000-yard running back who could sit out much of training camp in a contract dispute, and the Raiders timing appears good.

Chat scheduled for 1 p.m. today . . .

I ask a good 7 questions, and the only one you answer is one you already answered from someone-else.

    Very Jamarcus-esque effort.

LMN — I see you continue to paint all of the USA with your wide brush of ingorance and distaste…even though you’ve never stepped foot on her soil. Your “absolutes” are some of the most uneducated and presumptuous statements on the blog…usually just to show how superior you are. With laughable effects, actually. Did you really say “we all know ones teens are way more important than the baby years?”

LMN — The ages of 0-9 years-old are as important (and in many ways MORE important) as the teen years are in terms of developing healthy bodies and minds. And the way you speak of that kid from New Zealand, you make it sound like he was raised by wolves and didn’t know how to walk upright before he somehow was saved by the miracles of life only available in Denmark. You are one stubborn know-it-all for a 30-ish guy without a car.

This is an absolutely terrific, spot-on rebuttal, and the first part needed to be said a LONG time ago. I’ve tried, but either he doesn’t understand it or is too full of himself to try to.

    Nice job, HayesDaze.

    BSJ,

Condo is going to be a Raider for anotheer 10 years.

If you don’t see the value in a quality long-snapper, you should watch the Giants-Niners playoff game they are showing all this week on NFLN.

The Trey Junkin fiasco. Snapping killed their chances of winning a Super Bowl.

    Vegas,

I have nothing against Condo’s abilities as a longsnapper, I just do not believe it is necessary to devote a roster spot to him. I don’t recall any bad snaps when our scond string center was doing the job (Treu). Morris is a smallish center and should learn the job, giving us another opening on the game day active list.

    My 53 man roster….
    ————————————————-

You know, it looks much shakier written down.

    Lots of weak spots
    C,FB WR, OT,OG
    ===================================
LS looks good though, but we really need more depth there

We are so dependant upon Jon Condo’s pro bowl quality long snapping ability

    Woohoo

Raiders will have their best year since they went to the SB and Callahan (the dumbest coach in America could not game plan) lost the game.

Is everyone waiting on the edge of their seat in anticipation of Obamas speech tonight?

I bet he has solved the oil blowout
    Brilliant man, just brilliant
I bet he came up with the solution while golfing. Thats how smart he is

  • Plunketthead

Can you believe that some people think he is not doing enough to solve the problem?

The nerve of some people. Its obvious that he spends all his time in between golf and parties working on the blowout

I missed all the “exicting” WC games today.
Having two jobs will do that.

Looks like Portugal (where the hell is that) had a bad day and North frikking Korea almsot beat Brazil.

Heck, the North koreans eat worms, bugs and bark off what few trees are left in the hellhole and they still almost won.

I am gonna go out on a limb and say the USA will win the WC because all the other teams suck

Hey dikhead, why don’t you quote ONE legitimate person who has ever said that. Only you with your psychotic obsession with trying to discredit him. And what are you? Just some dumbass who sits behind a computer all day and all night posting negativity about a football team that you hate and the owner who has had more success than you will ever have.

You are just some low life turd who has done nothing of significance in your miserable life, so you cut down the people who have.

    Choke on this fagot:

3 Super Bowls 5 appearences and AL DAVIS is a hall of famer who DID NOT sue his way in. What have you ever done loser?
