Fat Kidd

Look at it like this, they're making adjustmenst on a constant basis to get things the wya they need to be in order to be successful. Sometimes you think you're done until the results are in which show you the difficiencies. You then adjust accordingly, biulding a winner isn't like biulding a car or any other piece of machinery because the pieces have minds of their own. They're not robots. Guy's like KoolKell think you get players and they're supposed to workout or else you're at fault because you got the wrong player.

It's just not as simple as that if it were you could biuld a tam on an assembly line. Players get injured have all kinds of issues which do not show up on a scouting report. Meaning you picked the right player physically speaking but he has issues that are near impossible to detect watching film or even in an interview. That's why the draft is a such a crap shoot you cannot read the players mind and heart.

Thus mistakes that are in the 10's of millions $ happen so often. Even with a PI on the case. Biulding a winnning team is extremely difficult that's why you see organizations go 30-40 years without winning. Yet Raiders wish death on a man because he hasn't won in 7 years.

In reality that is a very short period of time since a SB appearance. If we can just get back to respectability it will be a very good achievement in some respects. If we get to the playoffs in the next 2 years after rebiulding from scratch it will be impressive especially for a team so young.

And that's not because I'm a Mr Davis supporter which I am it's because it's very true. That would mean we have able to compete for a SB appearance in every dcade of our existence. No other franchise can say that and very few in any sport.......period

Oakland Raiders: Rebuilding Process Nearly Complete
"I love it when a plan comes together!"

Not even the most adamant Raider-hater can deny the improvements made by the Oakland Raiders this offseason. Accounts describing the extent of this improvement vary depending upon who is doing the speaking.

Hardcore haters say it's minimal at best. Hardcore fans say it's the best since Al Davis took the Raiders from 1-13 in 1962 to 10-4 in 1963.

As is always the case, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

The road back to success and respectability is a long one for the Raiders. Improvement is needed at almost every position on both sides of the ball. A team that has given up more points that it has scored for seven consecutive years cannot be turned around in one offseason.

The only thing JB is will we pull and trap the way we used to? This line is very physical in terms of size and athletic they could play whatever style they want but Cable is a ZB type guy hopefully they've seen the light. Get more power football in there and hit somebody play with aggressive style.

I hope John Henderson is a little nuts. It makes for much more effective players. Witness John Matusak, Lyle Alzedo, Otis Sistrunk, Bill Romaniski, George Atkinson, Big Bob Brown, Steve Wisnewski, all players in their own zone.

BCampbell could indeed emulate Gene Upshaw. He's got all the tools including more speed and 60# of more muscle. That equates to big time blocking around the edge on the famous sweep play. He just needs to learn from the coaches and work hard at becoming NFL caliber talent.

I firmly believe that not only d we se it but the Raiders obviously saw the same thing. After all Uppie was in the 5th draft of Mr Davis' tenure as owner and GM.

Just to add my 2 cents on the B Campbell similar to Gene Upshaw. I see the same similarity and said as much a couple of days ago. The speed with which BC runs is very similar to Uppie including the athleticism. Now no one is saying BC will play to that level only saying with a lot of work which guy's with good work etheic seem to do he could be a very similar in performance. No promises made no predictions just athletic comparisons.
