not a very good answer there big man. You better work your butt off to earn a spot on this team and learn the system. We’ve seen how a lethargic player turns out on this league once already…

    Priesttj,

JLH regressed last year for sure. But he wasn’t the worst player on offense and he has demonstrated in the recent past a capability to make plays.

7 TDs two years ago in limited action.

I think JLH is taking too much heat in here. If JLH is on the hot seat after 1 down year, what about the rest of the young guys on the roster.

About the only locks should be Miller and Bush, everyone else has question marks.

    Too bad there isn’t a rookie salary cap. That’s JLH’s major sin….being a 3rd round pick

I believe he was the perfect guy to be Pres of the US. Ex CIA, cigarette man if you will? My guy all day long!

Bush Jr was a clown and there was NO WAY IN HELL grandpa and the bimbo were getting my vote.

Probably voted for Obama because I was caught up in the black man president thing, lol!

But generally speaking, since my tax bracket changed and my Az MOMs been in my ear, yeah registered Rep, lol.

    If not nobody died….

I will bet on this defense right now. Now if DHB is what they’re saying he is and we can pass protect. We’ll go 8-8 easy and do it with flair. That guy is so pivotal to what we do it’s difficult to explain. He can change our offense dramatically.

  22. MistaBrown Says:

How did I forget Nick Miller!
tj, you have an eye for talent how long have you been watching NFL football at least 6 months right?

What was your nickname for Nick last year?
Nick Miller the DB Killer, right?

  23. priesttj Says:

Just to expand on DHB a bit. Every defense wants to make you one dimensional if they can do that the chances of them winning goes way up. First and foremost they want to shut down your running game. So they will committ 8 men in the box to make you throw instead of run and throw. Then they want to pin their ears back and play pinata with your QB.

Well DHB forces a man over the top when that happens the other safety must help with the TE in the middle. If they play nickle you’ve got them if your running gam is formidable. That way they must honor the run on very play and if your running game is picking up significant yardage they are in deep dodo. B ecause DHB has lifted the top off their defense they cannot over committ to the run. That’s when the offense can dictate play and the defense is in a guessing game.

That is why Mr Davis has always spent a lot of money and picks on DB’s with speed because he wants to stay in man. That allows the defense to play even as long as the front can get pressure he wins a large % of the time. Other teams have to blitz and committ 6 players to get to the QB and if they don’t get there they get KILLED. The worse thing you can do is blitz from weakness. The best defense is an even defense that can stop you witha minimum of players committed to the QB. That defense is very hard to beat consistently.

  24. MistaBrown Says:

tj is expanding go get your popcorn

    Im all ears tj..

  25. MistaBrown Says:

    tj what is dodo?

That formula on defense has been ranked around 30-32 for the last 5 years tj, because of the front 7

Shows just how freakin dumb you are whe it comes to football, he was lifting the defense last year he just didn’t make any plays. They doubled that kid on just about every play. But I wouldn’t expect you to know that. The difference this year is his ability to actually make plays. Then it’s not a concern but a real threat. If you watch whenever he got 40 yards dwn field the DB had help now he needs to undestand how to beat that. Last year he gave up on the play.

Michigan Man Arrested for Driving Drunk, Blames LeBron James
7/14/2010 2:00 PM ET By Ryan Wilson
LeBron James’ decision to leave Cavs for the Heat has repercussions beyond the Cleveland city limits, it seems. In fact, a Flint, Michigan man was so troubled by the news that dealt with it like any rational sports-loving adult: he got drunk and drove around Grand Blanc Township.

Inevitably pulled over by police, the man had a perfectly good excuse for his predicament. Via Yardbarker by way of The Flint Journal: According to police reports, police stopped the driver, a 30-year-old Flint man, after watching his vehicle drift over the center line and the shoulder of the road at 2:40 a.m. July 11 on Maple Road near Maplebrook Apartments.

Police reported that the man appeared to be intoxicated. When asked if he’d been drinking the man said that he had been drinking, and it was because LeBron James had decided to play for the Miami Heat instead of the Boston Celtics (James had actually turned down an opportunity to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers). To recap: an NBA fan and Flint resident got inebriated and drove around Grand Blanc Township, Michigan because LeBron opted for Miami over Boston. Expect an open letter from Dan Gilbert about why the Cavaliers and the city of Cleveland have been disrespected again, this time by a drunk guy residing one state over

Mike Tyson Candid About Past, Future, Calls Himself ‘a Pig’
7/15/2010 2:30 PM ET By Ryan Wilson
Mike Tyson is 44 year old, 20 years removed from Buster Douglas knocking him out in Tokyo, and the downward spiral that followed, including prison time on a rape conviction and quitting mid-fight against journeyman Kevin McBride during a 2005 match before promptly announcing that he didn’t have “the fighting guts or the heart anymore.”

Whenever Tyson has spoken publicly about his life, he’s been forthcoming about his mistakes. He ratchets the self-loathing up a few notches in a recent interview with Details, telling the magazine that, “The first stage of my life was just a whole bunch of selfishness. Just a whole bunch of gifts to myself and people who didn’t necessarily deserve it. Now I’m 44, and I realize that my whole life is just a f–king waste. ‘Greatest man on the planet’? I wasn’t half the man I thought I was. So if there’s a big plan now, it’s just to give-it’s selflessness, caring for the people who deserve it. Because I think I’m a pig. I have this uncanny ability to look at myself in the mirror and say, ‘This is a pig. You are a f–king piece of sh-t.’”

Tyson touches on everything from losing his four-year-old daughter to the tattoo on his face to what he was thinking during the infamous Evander Holyfield fight.

As to the ear-biting incident, Tyson was frank: “Man, I didn’t care about boxing anymore. I was wrong to do that-all wrong-all crazy to do that. But that wasn’t about boxing. I just wanted to f–king maim him.”

As for the future, Tyson keeps it simple and raw: “I got no money. I’m not a glamour guy anymore. I got friends who’ve got money, so it looks like I’ve got money, but I don’t. All the money I had, forget it. I never had anything, never had a stitch on me that felt like freedom. But to have somebody by your side, win, lose, or draw. My wife’s lived with me in places I wouldn’t take a sh-t in. I wouldn’t be a prostitute in some of the places my wife and I have slept.”

They forgot we were 2-14 the year before Russell in fact we don’t get him if we aren’t that bad. This morron can’t figure out that we had 2 rookies at WR last year it was easy to take DHB away he didn’t know how to take advantage of a defense hopefully now he does. But he drew doubles last year but with his ability he can beat that but you have to run through it. Last year when he saw it he gave up on the route. Murphy would run through it and made some great plays. Especially against cover2’s. With DHB’s speed he can lift the top off the zone. Giving ZMiller plenty of room to work underneath and DMC can work the short zones.

All you have to do is watch the great passing teams do it routinely and the Raiders can start to get some of that same action if DHB is ready. That is a big IF….

Oakland Raiders History: Jersey Numbers That Should Be Retired-Offense

His reason is he felt he would have so many great players if he retired their #’s he’d have very few #’s of choice for players. Like 32, 34, for HB’s 12 16 for QB’s 21 24 for corners 81 Tim Brown would not have worn it. 25 gone Freddie B. That’s 8 #’s just in those few players. Just too many players.

Human Head Found in Arizona Fuels Political Debate
    By Joshua Rhett Miller
    Published July 15, 2010
    | FoxNews.com
June 29: Rancher J. David Lowell indicates were the head of Francisco Fuentes Dominguez, 43, who was not a U.S. citizen, was found on Atascosa Ranch. (FNC)
A controversy is brewing in Arizona over assertions by advocates of more stringent immigration laws that drug and human traffickers have beheaded illegal immigrants as a warning to rival cartels operating along the Arizona-Mexico border.
At the center of the current dispute is Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who, during a TV interview last month, said law enforcement agencies have found “beheaded” bodies in the broiling desert.
“Our law enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert either buried or just lying out there that have been beheaded,” Brewer said.
The governor’s comments led to several reports scrutinizing her claim, including Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank’s assertion that “there’s not a follicle of evidence” to support the governor’s statement.
FoxNews.com. “Obviously, the violence is increasing on the other side of the border and, unfortunately, the same narco-terrorist organizations are operating daily in the state of Arizona. And the governor’s position is that those operations need to stop.”
When pressed to indicate if decapitated bodies had been found in Arizona, Senseman continued: “She’s referring, in general, to the increasing violence across the border.”
A cowboy on the Atascosa Ranch in Santa Cruz County found the skull of an undocumented immigrant on June 27, 2008, and the property’s owner, J. David Lowell, recounted the grisly discovery in a letter to Gov. Brewer this month.
“On that day one of our ranch hands was working horseback and discovered a human head near a trail believed to be used by drug and alien smugglers,” the letter read. “Although the head was missing the lower jaw, it was immediately apparent that much of the mass and flesh of the head was still present. The cowboy searched the area in hopes of finding the remainder of the body to no avail.”
Lowell notified officials at the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, who went to the ranch and took possession of the head.
Dr. Bruce Parks, who serves as the chief medical examiner for Pima and Santa Cruz counties, confirmed to FoxNews.com that the head was identified through DNA testing as that of 43-year-old Francisco Fuentes Dominguez, who was not a U.S. citizen. Parks said a cause of death was not determined, but there was no evidence of decapitation. Other “badly decomposed” parts of Dominguez’s body were found nearby earlier in the year, he said.
“Typically, what happens is animals will separate the body,” Parks said.
Another skull, which was never identified, was found by U.S. Border Patrol agents on Sopori Ranch in Tubac, Ariz., on June 9, 2008, said Parks, adding that no evidence was found linking that skull to decapitation.
Lowell’s letter also recounted a total of “five shooting incidents” on his ranch in the past seven months, most recently on July 2.
“Of course there is the possibility that there are other similar incidents of which we are not aware,” the letter continued. “To the best of our knowledge the report of the human head and two of the shooting incidents were not reported in the press, which suggests to us that the incidence of violence occurring on public land is being intentionally under reported.”
Lowell wrote that smuggling activity and violence have “dramatically increased” on his ranch within the past five years.
During a tour of his ranch late last month, Lowell told FoxNews.com he suspected the head was placed alongside the trail as a warning to other drug and human traffickers operating in the area.
“He opened the bag and I looked in, and to my horror, there was a human head in the bag,” Lowell said. “It was pretty nice and fresh and had been chewed on.”
Lowell, whose ranch is just 5 miles from the border at its closest point, said the dismemberment was likely one of the “cute tricks” used by traffickers to mark territory.
Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada confirmed that a skull was discovered on Lowell’s ranch, but he said no evidence of a decapitation was found.
“It was a skull that was there for quite some time,” Estrada said. “There’s no indication of any decapitation there, not at all. It was just a skull that was discovered.”

Missed some good threads being out of town.

Seymour and the entire defense, will be a better defense now that the offense SHOULDN’T be the league’s worst. Moving to the middle of the pack offensively will also have the defense follow suit. Still worried we may be a little heavy on the D-line, and may be absent a quick pass-rusher other than Scott. I hope Groves can step up and be a 3rd down presence on defense.

JLH may be toast. The Raiders have a weird way of handling these things in preseason. He will be around of course, and if there are injuries his roster spot will obviously be safe. However, I wouldn’t expect him to get more than 1-2 punt returns, and may only see a few series offensively as well. It will be up to the Nick Miller’s, Jacoby Ford, Yamon Figures and even Watkins to push his spot into contention, and they will get plenty of chances in the preseason. Thomas Howard may get the same treatment as well.

what’s the inside scoop from your time in Denver. Are Donkey fans dismayed about their twit of a head coach or do they simply expect that Tbone will not only be their next QB and FB as well as to lead them to the Rapture, but he will be HC also?

  60. Just Fire Baby Says:

    M,

Tebow can do no wrong there. If, or when, he fails it will be everyone’s fault but his. That’s the perception I got.

Never seen so many 6 year old kids with football jerseys on, and EVERY one of them was a Tebow.

Besides the fact they are Donkey fans, pretty cool place. Stayed right downtown, was pretty happening.

Compared to staying in Las Cruces and Hell Paso the last few days, it was a blast.

BTW, Can Goethel snap, or are you just seeing the future?

  61. Just Fire Baby Says:

  64. hwnrdr Says:

I think Tebow and The Donkeys was a pretty interesting situation…let alone story of the draft! I agree with JFB…its on him and on him alone! Not sure if Tebow would shine his first or second year, but if he does keep at it, he will be a pain in our you know what for years to come!

  65. M Lonetree Says:

    JustFB,

granted, Donkey fanatics may not be the best and the brighest but they are apparently looking to their childrens’ futures by attempting to assure their ways into a Celestial Realm by clothing them in Tbones. (BTW, Hell has many disguises and a bunch of kids running around with harps and Donkey jerseys would be one of them.)

  66. M Lonetree Says:

    3. Trade 2 best receivers away

Muwahahaha… First they fire Shanarat and then this nonsense, makes me wonder if the crypt keeper didnt somehow assume control of donkeyland

  68. Just Fire Baby Says:

    M,

To give you an idea, I was watching the ESPY’s in my hotel room and saw Tebow. I texted my boss, a Donkey season ticket-holder, and told him facetiously that I think I saw an “aura” around him (don’t think he got the Charlie Murphy inference).

He texted back later that his wife was watching, paused it, and brought the daughters downstairs, just so they could all catch a glimpse.

    Pretty weird stuff.

  69. hwnrdr Says:

Yes M…however, we also had Howie to their Horse face…he was still a pain in the arse! But the difference here is…he’s no Elway!

  70. Just Fire Baby Says:

  71. Dude Says:

    The “missle” Mike Mitchell??? LMFAO!

  72. M Lonetree Says:

    Hwnrdr,

but didn’t Horseteeth have an overall losing record against the Silver and Black? (and that with no Donkey lineman ever flagged for holding, clipping, cut-blocking or any other infraction)

  73. hwnrdr Says:

That’s true! Until he had the help of Terrel Davis…

  74. Just Fire Baby Says:

The 2010 Raiders may be a sack-by-committe defense, and wouldn’t be suprised if MM34 was second on the team in sacks.

  75. M Lonetree Says:

    JustFB,

I know you’re outside the of the Vegas loop now, but what’s the over/under on # of games Less Fat Albert will miss this year with various (mysterious?) injuries?

Mysterious Injuries? You mean like how Daunte Cullpepper mysteriously had a season ending injury after beating the Chiefs on Thanksgiving weekend that year! Holding out to get a better long term offer and couldn’t guide the Lions to one stinkin’ win??? LOL

    JLH may be toast.

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Add DMAC and you have the start of a sandwich.

  79. Stabler76 Says:

The offense needs a center and a fullback.

Last time we were any good we had Robbins and John Ritchie.

  80. Bo Schembechler Jackson Says:

Is Newberry playing anywhere? He would be great for guard depth if his knees still bend.

  81. Just Fire Baby Says:

Newberry is doing TV isn’t he?

If he is the answer I don’t want to hear the question.

  82. Raider O Says:

Let Huff play CB with Nnamdi & CJ, and have Missile Mitchell & Branch at Ss.
Branch needs a nickname. The Enforcer!!
Do you remember that hit on SD’s TE. Enforcer!!

  83. J Wiggle Says:

It’s going to be really interesting to see how the DB situation shakes out. How will they get Mike Mitchell on the field? I’ll believe they are moving Huff to CB when I see it.

Bruce Campbell: “I’m the laziest man you’ll meet…”
not a very good answer there big man. You better work your butt off to earn a spot on this team and learn the system. We’ve seen how a lethargic player turns out on this league once already…

    ——————————————————–

Bruce Campbell is saying he’s lazy at home, off the field, not on it. You would be too if you had his life.

  85. Raider O Says:

Branch said be can play both Safety positions, and Huff wants to play CB. That will allow Missile Mitchell to play SS. Do it Al!!!

  86. Just Fire Baby Says:

Huff FINALLY started playing well at S last year.

Moving him to CB full-time would be idiotic, IMO. Rotate in occasionally, sure.

MM34 is a situational down-hill player and ST ace. Don’t expect him to be a full-time everydown S, maybe ever.

  87. Raider O Says:

We should use Huff like we used Sir Charles. He played CB, NB, and FS.

  88. J Wiggle Says:

Mitchell was pretty impressive attacking the LOS. He was equally unimpressive in pass coverage. With the questions about our LBs being able to cover, Mitchell really needs to show he is not a liabilty if he actually needs to cover someone.

  89. Raider O Says:

And use him like they did in Texas. Huff is not a great tackler, but the man can cover. He is the Shadow King, and we need to use him like GB used Charles last year.

  90. Raider O Says:

    Vegas,

Not full-time, but allow him to use his speedsbd cover skills more. Branch shouldn’t leave the field.
I think we should try in preseason games, and see how it works, and take it from there.

  91. J Wiggle Says:

C Wood surely moved around but he was primarily a CB for us.

I think the “adjustment” I’m looking to see is Huff playing behind the “other” corner instead of on Nnamdi’s side.

  92. Raider O Says:

    J,

You make a great point that helps my argument. Huff doesn’t see a lot of action behind Nnamdi ( I love Nnamdi, shuts it down), so we need to move him around, but not at SS (didn’t play well at that position).

We should call Nnamdi’s side: The Nnamdi Zone!

  93. Just Fire Baby Says:

I don’t mind Huff covering the 3rd or 4th wide on 4-wide sets.

But I don’t want him starting opposite Nnamdi, and have teams rotate matchups (because Nnamdi doesn’t shadow just stays on his side) to have Huff covering #1 WR’s.

And I think Huff is a great tackler, maybe his best skill. Not a hard-hitter, but very solid tackling.

  94. Try Cheating Says:

I read a few lines from last night where some posters believed the Raiders would finish 5-11, at best. This is nonsense. You are going to have a worst to first scenario. I predict, which is purely a gut feeling based on viewing this team over thirty years, they will be a playoff team. They will finish 11-5.

  95. Try Cheating Says:

I would also add that if we can get a couple more vet free agents, a Superbowl appearance would not be so unbelievable. I have the 1980 season in mind. While the Raiders did not start out well with Pastorini
(2-3), but once Plunket started (9-2), it was all down hill. They were not the most talented team in the NFL, but they played with passion. I sense the same in this team.

  96. Try Cheating Says:

    Plunkett

  97. Raider O Says:

Revis is a great CB, but Nnamdi shuts down an entire side of the field.
F Revis Island. Nnamdi is a better CB, and QBs avoid throwing to his side period!! That’s why Branch, CJ, and Routt look so bad in coverage sometimes. It’s due to QBs picking on then the entire game because the don’t use the other side of the field!!

    Nnamdi for president!!

  98. J Wiggle Says:

And I think Huff is a great tackler, maybe his best skill. Not a hard-hitter, but very solid tackling.

    ——————————————————-

People get on Huff because he didn’t make any big hits while playing SS. Dude was 3rd on the team in tackles each year he played SS, but he can’t tackle? LOL!

  99. J Wiggle Says:

but Nnamdi shuts down an entire side of the field.

    ——————————————————-

We will see about that this year now that the run game has been addressed.

  100. Just Fire Baby Says:

That’s why Branch, CJ, and Routt look so bad in coverage sometimes.

    *********************************

I would like to emphasize the sometimes in regards to Routt.

  101. Raider O Says:

    Vegas,

I have to disagree my friend. I think Huff is a great cover DB, and that is his best Skill. As far as him being a great tackler, I think a lot of people would disagree with that. I watched the man miss a lot of tackles in the last 4 years. He was much better last season, but I still wouldn’t call bm a great tackler. Branch is a great tackler, and so is Nnamdi.

    Nnamdi for president!

  102. Raider O Says:

    J,

Great Logic! According to your logic Stu was a great tackler too. He was 3rd/ 4th on the team in tackles!! lol

  104. CJ Legend 34 Says:

Argue all you want about our DBs as long as you all can admit that Routt sucks!!!!

I have no beef with any of your opinions on the rest of the DBs. But Routt has to suck, it is fact!!!!!

Why we have not dumped this guy is beyond me. When we franchised this cat I pucked in my mouth when I read it.

  105. CJ Legend 34 Says:

By the way Stu was the worse safety we ever had. He was no Rod Woodson coming out of Purdue. Why he got as much credit as he did by Raider Nation is beyond me. It must have been the beard.

  106. CJ Legend 34 Says:

Stuart Schweigert is an Omaha Nighthawk now. I guess that is as close as he could get back to the Raiders.

Maybe Stuie could get Russel a job. He could be a pulling guard when he is not pouring cough syrup down his throat.

  107. Plunketthead Says:

1 spot left on the Fantasy Football league… whos gonna take it?

I would love to have it!!
But I always finish first or second.

You folks may wish you had not invited me.

Russell in UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks roster

    ——————————————————————————–

    SOURCE:http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com…ell-on-roster/

Earlier today, we posted an item regarding the NFL-heavy roster unveiled by the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks.

Now, another name has been added:* JaMarcus Russell.

Click the link.* There it is.* Russell’s name, between Chike Okeafor and Charles Grant.

If this is a mistake — and based on some of the other stuff that has landed on the UFL’s website it could be — the fledgling league desperately needs to get its sh-t together if it ever is to have any hope of being taken seriously.

Meanwhile, we’re trying to find out what’s going on.* It’s possible that the players in question are merely on the Nighthawks’ “dibs” list.* The website makes no such distinction.
