Final: Raiders 17, Cowboys 9

To steal and alter a line from Jimmy Johnson, “How ’bout them Raiders?”

Since it’s preseason and anything is possible, why not go ahead and reserve those rooms for a return trip to Arlington for the Super Bowl?

Or maybe not . . .

I’ll check in later with a few observations, some stolen from things I already wrote in the comments throughout the game . . .

    JaMarcus Russell admits past codeine use

    Posted by Mike Florio (PFT)

    Though he denies using codeine without a prescription in connection with his recent arrest for allegedly doing so, former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell admits that he has used codeine without a prescription in the past.

    Colleen Dominguez of ESPN reports that Russell admitted past use of the narcotic, but that he insists it last occurred three years ago — and that he does not have a drug problem.

    Russell also admits that he tested positive for codeine after being drafted by the Raiders. He claims that he had a prescription, but not a prescription from the team doctor.

    We caught wind of the Dominguez report via Robert Littal of BlackSportsOnline.com, who spotted a tweet from Trey Wingo of ESPN regarding the Russell interview. But Wingo’s tweet was a little misleading, pointing out that the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft admitted to using codeine and failing a drug test without providing a time frame.

    Al may compare some things like the O to other “decades” but the line aint in that class,and willsey was Lb coach back inthe days for a D that attacked ,,not the vanilla thing we have seen so much of.Plus other notable coaches.

    JB, tonites game should snap the time out coordinator to his senses… you need V and B on the field period…

    g’nite gents

    Go Raiders!

    and to my boy Jwigg, yes. Bruce Campbell is a beast against Dallas 3rd string DL :)

    should he get more reps with the 1′s?

    couldn’t hurt anything

  • JB

    Popping UP that reception was a bonehead play by JLH. Right now, I’ve got him behind N. Miller. JLH may still hang in there because Schilens is no sure thing health wise.

  • ajoakrader

    campbell looks a million times better than jabrokus. offense will be better

  • MistaBrown

    You have to question Cables HC iq the missed field goal attempt only reminds you of his fake field goal attempt with Seabass. His O-line albeit the first pre-season game looks like hot burning garbage.

    Where is tj, so liquored up he cant find his keyboard?

    Just Win Baby!

    Veldheer = starting center
    Satele = longsnapper (Adam Treu)
    Morris = disgrace (Donald Hollas)

  • aig-raiders

    omg, bspn just showed a second quarter play where Dallas first stringers beat Satele, Carlisle, Walker …… ALL IN THE SAME FRICKING PLAY. We need to fix this crapola.

  • aig-raiders

    Satele got thrown around like a rag doll on that busted line play.

  • Thec07

    Put the youngsters in the mix now…
    That sack was 100% satele…

  • J Wiggle

    Not SB bound quite yet, but certainly an upgrade in a lot of areas.

    I think those screens area going to be just as effective with McFadden and Bush.

    Agree with Veldheer and Campbell starting.

    Dline was ridiculous!

    Nnamdi and Huff are BY FAR our 2 best DBs. Not sure who #3 is, McFadden maybe?

    Not impressed with the JC to Murphy-DHB show.

    Veldheer looked good @ C. Short arms and all.

    Campbell looked so-so @ RG vs 2/3rd strind D line.

    Still B. Campbell may be better than C. Crislyle

  • J Wiggle

    JLH, Figurs, and Miller all looked good.

  • Thec07

    That sack was he last straw for me in the satele experiment…we need V to get frist team reps…
    Or go get mawae…the flip a coin and cut satele or morris…

    33″!

    6’8″ 33″arms

    The average 6’3″ nfl player has 33″ arms.

    ————-

    dude, Satele got thrown to the ground and ended up getting in the way of Gallery. Carlisle and Walker whiffed. All in the same play. 60% of the line was treated like biatches in one play.

  • J Wiggle

    Still B. Campbell may be better than C. Crislyle

    ——————————————————-

    Exactly!

    At a MINIMUM he’s as good as Carlisle is now, so why not get him the reps.

    Got thrown off his feet a couple times but it was after an initial great push. Unlike Carlisle, I never saw him in the backfield, he was always a wall or going forward.

    Same with Veldheer, IMO.

    Agree that we need to see it against the ones.

  • aig-raiders

    Bo,

    V’s arms are like 1.5 inches shorter than the ideal LT in the league.

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Maybe thats why he is getting time inside, where those shorter arms are less of a liability. He seemed to have good “lowers”, to borrow a term from the stupidest coach ever in the NFL.

    They both are weak, but Morris can play Gaurd in a pinch. Satele is younger, and stronger,???

    If we want to win THIS year, we need to sign Mawae

    You can’t have power ball if you dont have guys that can manhandle their man. SCW aint going to cut it.

    Didn’t Gallery have arms too short to play tackle, and had to move inside to be a good pro? Are we learning from our mistakes? Holy #$%^

    you right though bro. It should be 35+.

  • aig-raiders

    I have serious serious concern about this year’s Oline. The D will have to play its rears off to keep us in the game. The good thing is JC will not turn the ball over too much. My hunch is Almighty Bruce will play this year due to JC getting killed.

    Have the rules changed, and I didn’t hear about it? The Plowboys last play should NEVER have happened! I thought the rule states that with less than 2 MINUTEs left, at the end of either half, if the offense commits a penalty and has no time-outs left, there is an AUTOMATIC 10 second runoff of the clock. Since the Plowboys false started before the last play with less than 10 seconds left, the game should have ended right there. GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!Someone please correct me if I’m wrong
