[...] In a conference call with Bay Area reporters Sunday night, Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable gave some potentially alarming news. He said quarterback Jason Campbell’s biggest injury worry is not the stinger that knocked him out of the game, but a wrist injury he suffered on the previous series. Cable said Campbell had an MRI and X-rays and he will be evaluated this week. The Raiders open the season in two weeks, at Tennessee. It appears to be too early to project whether Campbell will be ready to play against the Titans or not. Campbell will surely be rested all this week. If Campbell can’t play, Bruce Gradkowski will likely get the call to open the season. Gradkowski was a sparkplug for Oakland in his preseason debut against San Francisco on Saturday night after Campbell was hurt. Gradkowski gave Oakland’s weak offense life last season when he took over for JaMarcus Russell. Still, Gradkowski has had trouble staying healthy. Meanwhile, Cable said running back Michael Bush will undergo a procedure on his broken left thumb, but he said Bush could play against the Titans. Bush is likely going to be Oakland’s starter this season, partly because he is more durable than Darren McFadden, who missed the first two preseason games with an injury. Cable also said No. 1 receiver Chaz Schilens’ will return from the arthroscopic knee surgery he had last week in 3-6 weeks. Yes, he could miss a couple of regular season games. The injury outbreak to Oakland’s skill-position players is a bit concerning, but right now, it seems like none of the injured players are in danger of missing major chunks of the season. Update: Cable indicated to the Bay Area media that Bruce Gradkowski is in good standing as the No. 2 quarterback and Stanford Routt is making big strides in his attempt to unseat Chris Johnson as the right cornerback.
What exactly is this ZB everyones talking bout? What I saw in that niners game was how Grad plays to win and how jason cambel plays not to lose I think Grad can have a very good year with the Raiders he gave us touch dwons and wins last year and he gave us two touchdowns in limited time..Jason cambell i dont think has thrown for a TD yet..Jason cambell hasnet really impressed me not saying he disapointed but Grad is where its at and i wasnt convinced of that until last game. No matter who we have back there though there going to be in grave danger lol so having to solid QB's is a good thing

Gradkowski has the "will to win". He can obviously throw the ball and is very spirited and the players respect him and will play hard for him. His size is the only drawback I see. We're better off with him in there than JCampbell.

Keep a eye out for a trade to Pittsburg to pickup Hartwig - center. He was the starter but looks like he's getting bounced for Maurike Pouncey, their # 1 pick this year. Hartwihg has a 4 year $2M+ contract. That's a little expensive to be sitting on the bench. Fortunately for us, AD doesn't get scared by the $'s. If we got Hartwig then we could focus both Veldheer & BCampbell on the tackle positions. We could then move Walker or MHenderson to RG. That would give us a reasonable dominating O-Line.
