Stevie Brown returns to practice

Stevie Brown and Slade Norris came off the field with the Raiders Sunday, meaning they were likely added to the practice squad.

With Manase Tonga, Kellen Heard, Alex Parsons and Kellen Heard also on the field, the Raiders have two more spots to fill. All players must clear waivers before being named to the practice squad and be claimed off the practice squad by another team for its 53-man roster at any time.

When approached by reporters coming off the field, Brown responded with a polite wave and declined comment.

Running back Michael Bush, working on his own with either a cast or heavy wrap protecting his left wrist, went through some agility exercises and waved off requests from reporters.

The last player off the field for practice was new starting center Jared Veldheer, working on shotgun formation snaps under the watchful eye of offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.

Linebacker Quentin Groves did not disclose that he was the starting weakside linebacker, but Trevor Scott was said he was working exclusively with the defensive line and that Groves was working with the first team at weakside linebacker.

More to come following press briefing with Tom Cable . . .

I agree. Having said that, I’m glad this years draft class was based on production.

Mike Mitchell is a game changer. The monster hit he put on Forsett last week, not only affected that play, but the play after when Forsett dropped an easy swing pass because that hit was still in his head when he heard foot steps.

The only reason I can see that Eugene was kept is for his special teams play which is the biggest worry of the coaches at the moment.

Julius Jones out in Seattle after all
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 5, 2010 4:20 PM ET
It looks like we spoke too soon when we noted that Julius Jones survived roster cuts in Seattle on Saturday night.

Jones was disposed of on Sunday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Safety Jordan Babineaux also got released as Seahawks G.M. John Schneider continued to take a machete to the team’s roster, bringing in as many new guys as possible.

(Jones and Babineux were due to make almost $5 million combined and both were reserves.)

With Jones out, Leon Washington and Justin Forsett will form an undersized running back committee in Seattle. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Seahawks add another back.

Yes sir….Top to bottom, best draft in recent memory. Even the scrubs i thought would be unemployed by now have turned out to be quite the find…Even our undrafted free agents have potential

  • Hobs Gnarly

always looking for people to validate your words bauce al’s special sauce. tell em jimmy, tell em i’m popular. i’ve got 15 people who says i am. when i’m in trouble i will just make lame name games like ole cornie on da cobs.

  • Hobs Gnarly

yes and they are not due to al! it’s all cable, the guys are playing for him.

  • chargerschoke

Yeah you are right I remember what a scrub Nnamdi was when first got here, Woodson really helped him while he was here, just wish Al hadn’t jumped the gun and dumped Fab Washington so quickly over possible bad PR, we would be a lot better in the secondary with him.

    Exactly!

Oh and by the way, is Stevie Brown a Raider today?

    “Problem”….solved.

  • dirtyhoesdraws

Routt better come to play with Nnamdi on the other side, you will get thrown on often

haven a big hitter in the FS will give WR gator arms and take the heat off Routt
MM34 doesn’t need to cover that much in man to man.

Still has to demonstrate that he can cover though.

Otherwise game plans will exploit/expose him.

  • aig-raiders

Checking in from NOLA…where you at 504?

Those who thought that AD was going to cut mm34 do not know the Raiders well enough. It’s one thing for AD to cut freeagents, it’s another for him to cut his draft picks.
