Bush sitting out Thursday practice

Share

Running back Michael Bush emerged from the locker room in sweats and a baseball cap Thursday, apparently sitting out practice after being “limited” for the previous two days with coach Tom Cable keeping alive hope he would face the Tennessee Titans.

Bush (fractured thumb), wide receiver Chaz Schilens (knee), linebacker Travis Goethel (lower back) and cornerback Walter McFadden (hamstring) were not suited up and all appear likely to be on the inactive list for the season opener in Nashville Sunday.

A few quick hits after the first access to defensive coordinator John Marshall and special teams coordinator John Fassel:

–Cornerback Chris Johnson will play in the first team nickel defense, playing on the outside with starter Stanford Routt sliding into the slot.

— The move of Trevor Scott from weak side starter to right end was made to get Quentin Groves on the field once Groves became adjusted to playing in back of the ball instead of being on the line of scrimmage.

— Linebacker Thomas Howard has repsonded to losing his job as a starting linebacker to being a core special teams player and is also playing in the big nickel defense.

— Marshall compared Rolando McClain’s football IQ and abilty to instantly recognize concepts and philosophies to that of Lofa Tatupu, who was an immediate starter in Seattle and three-time Pro Bowler who helped the Seahawks to a conference championship as a rookie.

— Core special teamers along with Howard this year, according to Fassel, include Groves, Rock Cartwright and Hiram Eugene.

— Return specialist Yamon Figurs was referred to by Fassel as a “high rewards” guy. Figurs scored two touchdowns for the Baltimore Ravens on returns when Fassel was a special teams assistant there.

Jhill: Cards will win 6-8 games this year

well coached team and the trenches are solid

have some talent as certain skill positions, too

Warner, Boldin, Dansby & Rolle hurt for sure though

    Wells/Hightower at RB

Anderson has Fitzgerald, Breaston & Doucet at WR

who did he have in Cleveland? disgruntled injury prone Winslow? Braylon “Drops” Edwards? and he still made the Pro Bowl 2 years ago!

  • Plunk, I stayed at the Silver Legacy a few years ago, great city, played golf on side of mountain, 97 degrees out, whew!

  • J Hill

    RRS,

I know you don’t like the prez, but what are your thoughts on the first lady????

  • RaiderRockstar

DRC, Adrian Wilson & Kerry Rhodes in that secondary too …

  • J Hill

Well at least you didn’t disagree that we were going to SMASH them, lol.

  • PlunkforHOF

Tons of great golf courses all around Reno

  • RaiderRockstar

I know you don’t like the prez, but what are your thoughts on the first lady????

    ***

she still looks good for a 46 year old with 2 kids

what else is there to know about her?

All she does is charity work & fundraisers, like any other First Lady … correct?

  • J Hill

Team that falls slat on their face this year = Washington Redskins.

Shannarat will continue his losing ways!

  • It was so hot, they wouldn’t send the help out to bring us beer!

  • PurpleDrank81

Who does the redskins have at wideout?

  • RaiderRockstar

Cards are in a weak division. I can see them sweeping both Seattle & STL. splitting games with SF

    thats 5 wins already

2 or 3 more outside the division, but SF will win the NFC West by 1 game imo (unfortunately)

  • JLofty

JLofty says Raiders 20-17. Titieez go down in Chatanooga!!!

  • Coach on Wheels

Bad loss – 1985 playoffs. Patsies beat us basicly by running a friggin’ Draw play over and over and over…

Pats got spanked in SB by Bears but what was bad we lost to Chicago, in Chicago earlier that year 9-6 in the brutalist game ever.

A 1985 Raiders – Bears Super Bowl would’ve been epic. F’n Tony Eason.

  • J Hill

she still looks good for a 46 year old with 2 kids

    ——————————————————-

    Damn right she does.

That’s pretty much all I was getting at.

No need to read between the lines, lol.

She was just on NFLN running some patterns in a nice tight workout suit. I got a little distracted is all I’m saying.

  • J Hill

    like any other First Lady

    ——————————————————

Laura bankrolled George’s whole operation, right?

And we all know Hilary made all the decisions.

  • JLofty

860Todd/Plunk, i work at 2 of those mtn courses outside Reno. Weather should be more hospitable for next few weeks (unless 97 is ur cup of brew).

  • Stabler76

    Top 5

    0) Immaculate Reception— missing a chance to go to the SB on a fluke on the last play of the game

1)Losing to the Ravens in the playoff because of that fat **** Siragusa

2)Tuck Rule -because even after the blown call the D could not stop the Pats or Vinetary(whatever)

    3) The Super Bowl disaster against Tampa. At the time I was a Gannon and Robbins fan.

    4) The 51-3 or whatever blowout loss to Buffalo in the AFC Championship

    5) All the loses to the Chiefs in 80’s Denver in the 90’s and SD in the 2000s.

But there have been a lot of really exciting wins in that whole time

Jhill: not exactly a bold prediction, since they only won 4 games last year … but I know there is a lot of hype since adding Shanny & McNabb

still got a dispute going with Fat Albert carrying into the season and Toast Hall in the secondary

  • JLofty

Glad Bush won’t get played. Bush needs to be healed up before you can play hard.
B’sides, time to see if McFumble can be the MAN. Time to earn that $36mil.

  • I was there in July, Elk’s national convention, still have the beautiful pic’s, nice place, took side trip to Tahoe.

  • PlunkforHOF

It was downright chilly this morning!

  • J Hill

but I know there is a lot of hype since adding Shanny & McNabb

    ——————————————————-

    Exactly my point.

They still suck despite those 2 and MAY win 1 more game than last year.

  • 7o7Raider

did yall hear on hard knocks when rex ryan was talkin $### to toast hall talkin bout thats why my brother cut ur a$$. that was hillarious

  • J Hill

I’m good and reaady for the DMac breakout party.

We finally get to see what the “give him 20 carries” crowd was hollering about.

  • PurpleDrank81

That was 1 of the best lines in Hard Knocks History

  • Coach on Wheels

Awesome win peeps forget. Made ABCs Top 5 MNF Comebacks.

In Denver the Donks go up like 27-3 by halftime and ABC is showing the moon and trying to keep people interested. Second half, boom Jay Schreoder goes nuts and Raiders kick a FG at the buzzer to send it to OT 30-30. In OT Oakland kicks the FG and my buddy and I are screaming like we won the SB. Awesome game.

  • Worst rip off game for the Raiders?

1.) Franco’s short hop. (also the day I came down with the “sickness” of being a Raider fan.)

    2.) Snow job..

    3.) Donkey fumble…

  • breakdown5150

i was just reading a bleacher report article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/455374-nfl-picks-week-1-the-top-underdogs-who-can-win-outright#page/2 and this guy gave the Raiders a 1 out of 10 (1 is lowest)upset probility ranking. does anyone else see a problem with this? if anything i think this game will be a toss up…with the titans running game, and the raiders vertical pass threat…could be high scoring and the last team with the ball wins. hopefully… GO RAIDERS!

  • RaiderRockstar

Jhill: I can see the Vikings, Chargers, Bengals, Patriots and Cowboys doing a freefall

I can see the Bears, Texans, Falcons, Eagles, Browns & Dolphins being better than expected (with a few of them making the playoffs)

  • PurpleDrank81

The guy must be a titan fan

  • JLofty

It’s warming up nicely in Truckee tho.

Speaking of weather, they are predicting mid 80s in Chatanooga on Sunday. No sweat for the boys in BLACK!!!

  • inonewordraider

Groves did nothing in pre season games to even hint he deserved to start or even make the team.

looked stout against the run against seattle, better than Scott for sure

  • Coach on Wheels

Think that’s bad? ESPN The Ragazine has KC winning the AFC West.

  • NorCalBones

Put me down for Raiders 30-27

  • JLofty

909: Tuck rule. The short hop sucked but a play was made by a player, I can live with that. Tuck rule was a jobber. CW made a HUGE play and Walt and Tagmeafew jobbed us!!

  • Coach on Wheels

The Raiders can get 1 1/3 wins this week. Beat Tenn (1) and 1/3 of beating Tenn, Hou and Jax. Why? Help Indy win the AFC South and they’ll be resting their starters in week 17! Win 3 get the 4th one free!

  • inonewordraider

Asked how he compares himself to Peterson, Johnson said, per Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, “I don’t. I am the best back in the league, he is not. I don’t think it is close. I feel like I am above all the other running backs in the league. I feel like I am above him.”

If you got it you don’t need to flaunt it, like the way I HATE when JLH does his TD dances that’s not Raider football Cable should check his a$$, act like you’ve been in the endzone before. That said I hope we smash the cocky muthaf#####

    Yeah!!!

do we play OchoStinko this year?

  • I predict Condo will cost us the Titans game. GET A REAL PLAYER ON THE ROSTER.

  • PurpleDrank81

Condo makes more special teams tackles then ne1 else on the field…..

  • PurpleDrank81

And no we dont play him but Chris Johnson has some shiny gold 1’s

  • Just Fire Baby

So Routt played like crap in the slot last year, and CJ was getting toasted by scrubs on the outside last week.

    YIKES!!!!

    Breakdown5150,

According to the Vegas point spreads, we are the second most unlikely team to pull an upset, out of 16 games.

  • Just Fire Baby

Gradkowski’s facebook page said that the season “is ours for the taking”.

Tough talk from the backup QB (for now)

  • RRS aka Scott Nugent, before you sign off I wanted to know if you plan on having a book burning in Podunkville this weekend?

  • RaiderRockstar

5pm in Podunk – later gents!
