Cable: Bush `improved’

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, September 10th, 2010 at 11:09 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders coach Tom Cable said running back Michael Bush was improved during the short Friday practice and officially listed him as questionable for Sunday’s season opener in Tennessee.

Bush was essentially a spectator during the media window, holding a football in his right hand and watching running backs and tight ends run through half-speed patterns near the goal line.

Once practice was underway, Cable, said Bush “Took reps, caught the ball, ran with it, it’s a matter of how it reacts, how it responds.”

Asked if Bush had caught passes thrown with some velocity or just softer throws, Cable said, “No, we threw some stuff to him today.”

Also listed as “questionable” along with Bush is defensive tackle Desmond Bryant (elbow). Wide receiver Chaz Schilens (knee), cornerback Walter McFadden (hamstring) and linebacker Travis Goethel (lower back) did not practice, were listed as out, and will not be among the 45 players who suit up for the game.

More to come . . .

REALRAIDERHATER…. Is play and his attitude affected the whole team… This team his better with him no on the roster…>I just went over the fact that PurpleDrank isnt all about him….Im glad he’s gone….Yea we’ve had some bad draft choices but your personal hate against Davis keeps you from actually believing in a team that is better than last year…Why come on here if you dont like the team

  • PurpleDrank81

If you dont think this team is better than your delusional….

  • PurpleDrank81

Im done with you for now…. Leave your basement and have mommy make you a PB&J without crust like usual and we can argue later.

  • TerrapinRaider

TScott starting at RE over MShaun …not too thrilled about that. TScott has been a liability against although stellar at pass rushing.

Read Poole’s article …I beg to differ with his claim that the Raiders can’t score many points. If the preseason showed me anything its that the Raiders CAN put some points on the board and make it look easy (granted with MBush in the lineup).

The 2nd the 3rd preseason games the 1st team scored on the opening drive making it look easy.

  • PurpleDrank81

    Agreed Terrapin

Purple drank, Russell’s play and attitude affects WHAT team? Surely not the 2010 Raiders. He’s not here! Do you really not understand that?

    ………………

I think the team has improved just enough to get 5 wins.

  • PurpleDrank81

I never said it did…But I did say we will be better without him Just like we were better with him on the bench and a 2nd string qb playing….

Jason Campbell led two TD’s drives on the first drive in games 2 and 3, and than about 6 points in ten other drives between games 1-3 with two turnovers.

    Hence, Poole and myselves concern.

BBB I understood your point and got a chuckle out of it. I’d like to see McFumble earn ANY portion of that $38mil or whatever ANY WAY he can. Returning kicks would be fine by me. Maybe not this Sunday with Bush out but otherwise.
Yamon Figures scares me at KR/PR. The first job of a returner is to gain possession of the ball. Next is to gain positive yards. Third is to break one. In that order. (Unless your QB is JMR#2 then you just want the returner to try and score knowing your offense will never do it and Jalathargic will turn it over anyway)
So unless Yeamon has two TDs for every fumble/muff he scares me. In fact other than the kickers and LS the coverage and return teams scare me. I hope they don’t f-up an otherwise fine RAIDER showing on Sunday.

  • PurpleDrank81

Ur not worth arguing with….Lets do this…If we win more than 5 games I will change my Name to
    (RMR-IS-KING)

If im right all I want to hear is you say Drank you are right

  • PurpleDrank81

    Agreed?

  • RaiderLen

Drank, might want to re read your terms.

  • RaiderRockstar

BBB: you haters claim DMAC is brittle, but you mention him playing FB?

the guy has played in 25/32 games the past 2 seasons and only has a total of 217 carries.

thats less than 9 carries per game bro.

Give him a chance. If he’s healthy, I think he produces.

Who cuts or trades a Top 5 RB before they even reach 220 carries?

bored Raider fans – nobody else

  • PurpleDrank81

Thanx Len IF we lose more than 11 ILL do it

  • PurpleDrank81

    U saved my life Len

Other than the fumble (lol at that statement) I thought Yamon looked all right on kickoffs.

But punts? He muffed two from what I remember, and don’t remember him ever getting over 10 yards on a return.

Scared for him on punts, can handle him on kicks.

  • PurpleDrank81

Change Name if we lose more than 11
RMR tells me im rite if we win more than 5

    RRS,

I have never said McFadden is brittle, in fact when you look at his injury history it is mostly freak injuries like turf toe and hammy pulls. I think McFadden is much tougher than he is portrayed on this blog, my concern with McFadden is his style of running. It worked for him at Arkansas where his bouncers up front opened very large creases for him, but here on the Raiders our line is still trying to define themselves and they can’t give McFadden the kind of hole he needs to really terrorize a defense. Who knows, if the O-line gels this season, maybe you are right and DMC has his big coming out game. But until that time, I remain skeptical. I know he has it in him, I was very much in support of drafting him in 2008 (Dakota got me on the bandwagon and I never got off) and I saw his talent in college, but until he does it in the pros, week in and week out I consider him a “catcher of screens” and a potential kick returner candidate.

Darren is effective in space, but it is easier said than done to just get a guy in space, without defenders in a little bubble around him.

Once those defenders emerge near him, the play is about over. He doesn’t break tackles or make guys miss, or at least hasn’t yet.

    BBB: Exactly

thats what Dakota & I have been saying

Cable and his atrocious O-Line aren’t getting it done.

Not putting the playmakers in a position to make plays either

  • inonewordraider

Yamons returning punts and kickoffs because Fassell is on his nut$ not realizing that Nick Miller can do just as good a job returning kicks until Ford comes around and JLH took a few to the house last year returning punts. Yamon is not an option at WR so he is a wasted roster spot

So the Tenn pickers already have compromised credibility.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

THis is totally false. The Tennessee Pickers are one of the finest banjo bands in the south and they have never compromised on the integrety of their moonshine!

  • PurpleDrank81

    Yamon should be cut

    new post fellas

The vast majority of pro players can use pot and or booze without it affecting their play to a noticeable degree.

Using prescription painkillers or cough syrup to get high is equal to needing a heroin fix everyday.
JR should have been willing to get help and stop but the force of the purple drink is strong.

Yamon Figurs is a Saboteur! Which makes Fassel, Benedict Arnold. Maybe getting revenge for his dad…

Yeah, the O-line really deserves the blame for all those DMAC fumbles too. Fkin ostriches.
