Halftime: Rams 7, Raiders 3

Live chat was frozen for some reason. Not sure if and when it will resume based resolving technical issues.

Jason Campbell threw an interception not long before it went bad, with the crowd chanting “Bruce, Bruce, Bruce” as the half ended.

An awful first half from the offense, offensive line still a disaster with Jared Veldheer replacing Mario Henderson. Defense came around and got better as half went on.

The way DMac ran the ball today, doubt you see any changes on the Oline. Veldheer will continue to get “transitioned” into the LT spot.

By the way, who’s the backup C once Veldheer takes over LT?

Personell decisions have truly been headscratchers.

    Hue deserves credit?
    Bruce gets all the credit
    ********************************************************
Read the post again. I didn’t say Bruce didn’t deserve any credit. I said Hue deserves a lot of it as well.

He calls the plays, and in case you didn’t notice there were more than a few adjustments made at halftime in that department.
    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////

Big reason for the offensive turnaround is that we got back to pounding Run DMC, cut down on the 5 and 7 step drops, and had som more designed rollouts. Bruce executed when we needed him to though and he deserves to start. My only worry is how long will he hold up before he gets hurt because he is gonna take some shots behind this O-line

    ‘Sup fellas.
Wasn’t pretty, but we’ll take it. Damn Vegas, You da man. Halftime week 2, you called midway through preseason. Got any tips on Powerball or Megamillions this week?

    Just signed on:

If this has been mentioned by any of our estimable colleagues here on the site I apologize. Allow me to reiterate what may or may not have been mentioned.

Bruce Gradkowski’s seems to have way better chemistry with his young WR’s. Ay half, correct me if I’m wrong, Murphy and DHB each had 1 catch.

Bruce makes quick decisive decisions, while Campbell seems to be processing a lot slower. Grads goes through his progressions quickly and gets rid of the ball, anticipating what his receivers will do. Campbell seems to not be able to do this.

I was very impressed with the fire DHB showed there. Even though he dropped 2 in my mind. Looked a little tentative still with his catches, but this game will go a long way in building his confidence. Obviously his best game of career.

  • buckeyeraider

This team just seems to respond to Grad’s energy. O-line seems to pick it up. Doesn’t hurt that Bruce gets rid of it quickly, either.

How about DMac? Two weeks in a row. The dude is running hard. Finishing his runs. He’s getting the tough inside yards his critics say he can’t get. He is even dealin out some punishment. Knocked that safety the F out. Impressive.

    “Personal foul, number fifty-five…”

    “Spiking the receiver..”

I became convinced today that the only thing that matters in the NFL is who your quarterback is.

Grad’s looks like he’s the poster boy for MMA

Campbell looks like the lead singer from the Commodore’s
    ——————–

..but the Commodores lead singer exhibited emotional depth with his ability to make people “feel” something.

Jason Campbell is a robot with no soul, and is devoid of emotions.

    ..oh yeah, and he sucks.

  • JB

Props to DMac. I was one of his non-fans and he’s now doing things I did not think he could. He’s running hard with passion. It’s about damn time. Good for him! I really want to see Bush do the same.

Now for he JCampbell Gradkowski contest. Bruce just seems to be able to motivate the people around him to get their best. JCampbell, for whatever reasons, just doesn’t seem to get into it. He doesn’t motivate the players around him. I think he’s probably a better passer but that in itself is not enough. JCampbell needs to compete for the starting position. Right now, I say start Gradkowski until he gets knocked out of the game or fails to move the team and score. Our O-line is a disaster and that’s not changing anytime soon so whoever the QB is, they’ll just have to adapt.

DHB had a much better day but he simply needs to fight harder for the ball and he needs to quit jumping up to catch the ball when that’s not necessary.

TC better spend his entire week with the O-line. When Gallery is not in there they really suffer on the left side. We saw that today. Satele still sucks. So does Cooper and Walker at ORT. he OLT position has become a revolving door. I don’t think Veldheer is the answer there. I still like him at center.

We are extremely lucky that we won today. Next week will be harder yet to win.

For real? Or is this a prediction?

What a team player Campbell is; he looked sooooo pi$$ed off the rest of the game on that sideline.

I think Campbell prides himself on being perceived as a steady, even keeled guy, who doesn’t get too up or too down. After that last int. he threw he just calmly walked to the sideline to explain why he screwed up, and he just looked so blase’ about it.

This team NEEDED the fire that Bruce brought and saved the day. Long term solution? Maybe not, but he WAS the solution today.

I don’t understand how everyone says Grad isn’t a long term solution. Nobody out there is exactly “The Best.” No perfect performance. Grad is an underdog, like the Raiders. He’s a perfect fit. And although he’s the only highlight of 2009 season, much of the Nation still hates on the man.
He has heart, and that’s what this team, this nation needs right now.

So when ever we’re feeling down and out, just think…
    What would Gradkowski do?

    Feels good to win, though!
