Final: Cardinals 24, Raiders 23

Sebastian Janikowski from 32 yards out . . . he missed it again. That’s three.

Arizona did everything it could to give the Raiders the game. Raiders wouldn’t take it.

Much more later in a painful postgame wrap . . .

Who else should we blame. Doesn’t matter if they fumbled, pissed around, and f’cked off every series before the last one.

BOTTOM LINE – OFFENSE PUT THEM IN POSITION TO WIN GAME.

    JANAKOWSKI IS TO BLAME.

    HE HITS – WE WIN
    HE MISSES – WE LOSE

…………….so what he missed a kick and we lost, you didnt think we would be undefeated this year?

    Bill Williamson

The goat: After an excellent season last year, Janikowski killed his team Sunday. A pro like Janikowski has to make a 32-yarder to win the game. Inexcusable.

  • http://aldavissucks.blogspot.com/ The Real GradkowskiRaider

Priest, I agree. If your field goal kicker is someone that Al Davis drafted in the first round a decade ago, you can NOT let the game get into his hands. You have to score enough points to make sure the Davis scholarship player isn’t needed on the final play of the game. So, you’re right. It’s on the team, the non Al Davis scholarships, for not getting far enough ahead to where Davis’s hand picked players couldn’t blow it for them.

  • SD_Raider_619

Cable is the biggest piece of mierda. He needs to go!!! I was at the game and Raiders had plenty of time instead of running a play and giving that dumbass a shorter fg to kick because he missed 2 already. nope, a lot of Raider Nation at the game but like every fukin game raiders let us down!!!!!!

Priest, what reason did the Raiders give for drafting Jano 10 years ago? Do you remember? Something having to do with how many games they’d lost by 3 or less in the previous couple of seasons? And that what justified drafting a kicker in the first round was that he would be a sure thing in these clutch situations?

  • jerseyraider

Todays lose is just salt in a wound that had been festering for 7 years now. I blame my dad. Who the hell raises their kids to be raiders fans living in new jersey? I have tried to turn my back on the raiders and root for the NY teams but i guess i am just a gluten for punishment.

  • priesttj

NO’s kicker won the game last week cost them the game this week. Should they cut him as well……..it’s really ignorant to say that. This stuff happens to every team at least once a year. That’s why next time we’re at someones 15 yd line with a minute to go you always attempt a TD until it’s obvious that it’s too risky (no time outs, or 3rd and long) of which we had time and downs plus t/o’s Madden would always take a shot just in case he could get it. It was 1st and 10 at the 15 take a shot then go for the FG. Occasionally a shot in the endzone works.

  • http://aldavissucks.blogspot.com/ The Real GradkowskiRaider

SirBlitz, I agree. Cable should have known better than to let the game get into the hands of a kicker that Al Davis blew a first round pick on, a decade ago! LOL.

  • ColoradoRaiderFan

I can’t blame Cable for not running another play and going for a TD, or a shorter field goal. I think every coach in the league would have done the same.

What I am bothered by is that thick roll of fat on the back of Cable’s head. That can’t be healthy.

  • Norco Bob

Houton a 4.5 favorite in Oakland,..easy money…Texans win that one by 38. Im real.

  • 2sense

I guess no one saw the series where the offense couldn’t punch it in from the one foot line for the go ahead touchdown in the fourth. for whatever reason they couldn’t beat the play clock to call a QB sneak. Ridiculous.

Janikowski had no business missing that field goal but there are two bums on that team. Henderson and Routt. Branch is becoming dangerously close to making that list too. Every time somethin gets F’ed up I guarantee that a 26, 75, or 33 will be somewhere within the four corners of your screen.

  • aig-raiders

to be fair TJ, Jano is just not a pressure kicker. Never been and never will be. The team did enough to be in a position to win it with a chip shot. He just blew it.

Last week we played a 27-1 team and just barely won the game. This week we played the Arizona catfish, another bottom dweller that made mistake after mistake after mistake. Begging us to take the W, but Curly Joe, “I don’t think so, don’t you know? We don’t win two in a row! Now give me that L.”

  • Chris in NY

I’ve been hard on Cable in the past, but you can’t blame him for his handling of the last minute. Any other coach in the NFL handles that pretty much the same way. Maybe we could’ve had Grads run a naked bootleg off a fake handoff to McFadden and hoped the Cards totally sold out, but otherwise what would you have him call?

And don’t forget McFadden’s past ball control issues. Plus most teams go for the FG on 3rd down in case there’s a bad snap the holder can spike it.

  • priesttj

Sure he should’ve won it but you always take a shot in the endzone in that situation don’t put all your eggs in one basket. All you telll your QB is never take a sack throw it away if it’s not there. Jano has been nails for the last 3 years we just haven’t had an offense to speak of.

It’s his fault he didn’t make it to win it for us, but it’s not his fault we didn’t win.

  • http://aldavissucks.blogspot.com/ The Real GradkowskiRaider

priest, comparing the Raiders to the Saints in any capacity is like comparing a ’78 Festiva hatch back with a 2010 Mercedes. The Saints just won the Super Bowl. They have a much larger margin of error than we do. We’re scratching and clawing our way back to NFL relevancy again, a place the Saints are already at, and we were one field goal away from being there again, with a 2-1 record when were slated to be 0-3 at this point. And Jano muffed. This is a guy who was drafted 10 years ago to win close games for us. He’s NEVER delivered, considering we haven’t even won in nearly a decade. He was not only a bust, he was a wasted pick from the start. If we’re any other team in the league, Jano’s packing his bags tonight.

    Chris,

Things I can never get with Al Davis.

    1. Why is V, a carbon copy of Gallery, playing LT as a rookie? If anything, he should be playing RT like most rookies in this league before the transition.

    2. Why is Bruce Campbell, built like a prototype LT, playing Guard?

    3. Why is the most seasoned LT on our roster not playing the starting LT position? Can’t be any worse than Mario or V.

If that’s it they’ll be changing kickers every other week. You have to be an idiot to think a PK is automatic…………..there is no such thing. They miss FG’s just like WR’s drop passes and runners make mistakes they’re human. Anyone who tells me any kicker is automatic I’ll put in a straight jacket.

    There is NO SUCH THING!!!…………period

Satele didnt hike the ball thats why Grads gave him a prostate exam. The clock was about to expire thats why Grads plunged into his ass.

I think Nnamdi’s game changing play was shutting down one of the best WR’s in the game. Only one catch came against 21, and he played it like he had inside safety help, which came late.

D Knight, Hue and Cable put Jano in position to win the game with a chip shot. He failed. Everybody did their part except for Jano.

    ^^^^^^^
Never rely on a freakin kicker who makes the tough ones, but can’t make chip shots!

They had time to go for a TD and thats what they should have done!

A coach like Jim Harbaugh would have never played it conservative like that….he would have went for the kill!

This should be a lesson learned for Cable, Hue, and Jano to focus more!
