Raiders at least No. 1 in Bay Area

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, September 27th, 2010 at 8:05 am in Oakland Raiders.

The most screwed up NFL franchise in the Bay Area is not in Oakland.

The morning after a 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium, the 49ers have fired offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye, according to the NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora, Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco and surely more outlets which will all claim to have gotten it first.

It’s not that there weren’t serious issues with Raye stemming from the Week 1 loss to Seattle and the Week 3 meltdown in Kansas City. It’s just that coach Mike Singletary told reporters in Kansas City the 49ers would hold off on making any changes and even said Raye would remain the offensive coordinator for the rest of the season.

Maiocco reported the Chiefs were calling out 49ers plays in advance based on formations. That being the case, it’s too bad Raye has left the building. The Raiders could have used that kind of advantage when the two teams meet at Candlestick Park on Oct. 17.

More to come later after what figures to be a sullen open locker room session at 10:30 a.m. and coach Tom Cable’s press briefing at 2 p.m. . . .

al needs to let creative game planning happen! newsflash to al, you are not getting any younger and at your age, every game could be your last.

  • RaiderRockstar

Cable should have called a timeout when the clock was winding down on thet QB sneak play at the 1 when they should have scored a freakin TD!

    ***

it’s the QB’s job to call timeout if he can’t friggin get the play off in time.

Cable is still a joke though imo. he just isn’t to blame for that flag

  • RaiderRockstar

Hue Jackson was a failed OC at the NFL level and Tom Cable was a failed HC at the college level.

who else is surprised that this teams FAILS on Sundays?

  • aig-raiders

Honestly, can someone point out to me a time in football history where the coach called a timeout to prevent delay of game? I have never seen it.

I know coaches call timeout for wrong formations and personel but I have never seen a coach call timeout to prevent delay of game.

  • Hobs Gnarly

freakin coaches? who in their right mind would coach for the raiders? no established coach and up and comers only want to make a name for themselves. we got what we got, just got to throw it all out there as far as x’s and o’s and toss al’s plan in the can.

  • F.All.Raider.Haters

    HEY NARCO,
See my name? F you and get the f outta the blog. You say the kinda sheit Dan Dierdorf would say about the raiders if he wasnt on national television. Seriously, I would throw a beer bottle at your face if I heard you say some of the sheit you post on this blog. You hate the raiders, quit hiding it. To you, any victory is a stroke of luck. im actually pulling for a raider victory next week and while im sure they will be the underdog, i dont see a 50-6 blowout or whatever your dumbass has called. you’re lame

  • Hobs Gnarly

that was on grads you heard him say he thought he could get it off and he will learn from that. and didn’t cable try and call a time out in the rams game and the officials didn’t see him?

It happens….or the coaches should have been in Grads earhole to call a timeout…they are able to communicate in that helmet!

  • DMAC

On the positive side. It seems as if we’re getting more calls in our favor from the zebras this year. I say continue to throw deep to DHB, at least 3 times a game. We’ll get at least one pass interference call each time.

  • fat kidd

Raiders panic button (@) do not press

  • Hobs Gnarly

still pro grads and pro cable.

if our QB has to be reminded to check the playclock we might as well re-sign JaWalrus

  • aig-raiders

    DK,

The headset is turned off 15 seconds before the playclock expires by NFL rules.

  • Hobs Gnarly

actually i am confused……and i have been on this blog for at least 4 years. are norco bob and bob marley the same person?

  • RaiderRockstar

are norco bob and bob marley the same person?

    ***

    no way!

    complete opposites …

  • DKnight007

At least Grads manned up and apologized and took the blame for that when he didn’t have to.

Like how Branch went out of his way to say my bad when he whiffed versus Chris Johnson.

No one seems to be talking about this, but if you watch the replay of the play where DHB gets the PI call you will see that half way through the pass pattern DHB slowed way down like he had given up on the play, and then he realized that the ball was coming his way so he tried to turn on the jets….had he run his patter at full speed it likely would have been a TD and we wouldn’t be talking about Jano this morning.

Schyt like that pizzez me off.

Someone else look at that play and tell me I am wrong.

if anyone would rather have last 3 seasons with russell or the first game with campbell then what they put out yesterday which was an nfl team then they are not raider fans or have an agenda (al)

  • RaiderRockstar

I really don’t care if players take responsibility for thier failures or not … I just want them to PRODUCE on the football field man

    tired of hearing excuses

  • CJ Legend 34

RR interesting take on Hue. I agree with Cable he is about a C- coach right now. But how about Hue? How has he failed at the NFL level as an offensive coordinator? Most teams and players talk about this guy in high regards. He has some successful projects behind him so where has he failed?

    I agree DKnight007

I was screaming to run the ball in the redzone especially when they had the ball at the one. McFadden walked one of them in.

    one redzone series..from the 10

    1st and goal…pass incomplete

2nd and goal…Mcfadden runs for 5 yards to bring it to the 5.

    3rd and goal: pass incomplete…

pound the ball 3 straigth times….Gruden would march out the elephant package and it was automatic with Zack from 1. Thats the difference between a winning coach and a loser….

  • fat kidd

the cardinals lost that game for us by not using their timeout to freeze the kicker ,he would have more time calmed down and made the kick .

  • Hobs Gnarly

thanks RR, sometimes i don’t pay attention and norco was tripping me out this morning because i thought he was marley.

Gruden AND Harbaugh would bring in the elephant line package and pound that crap in or run a play action bootleg or go to Miller!

Harbaugh brings in the trucks now at Stanford and pounds the rock!

  • RNOraiderFan

I think the Raiders fail so much do to timid play. I was down on McPain because he seemed to be thinking too much. JC would also be looking down the field trying to find the Safe throw. JLH is bouncing around trying to find the wide opening. F it! this team is not very good, this team is not going to the playoffs. I wish the players and coaches would stop with all this SAFE crap and play reckless. At least the games would be funner to watch.

  • Hobs Gnarly

should have let houston run it in goal line.

he’s been an OC twice. Washington & Atlanta

his offenses were a joke at both places

QB Coach & WR Coach? sure.

    Coordinator? FAIL

  • RNOraiderFan

Hire John Fox! You all know that Cowler is taking that N/C job next year.

I think at some point the communication link between the sideline and the QB is cut…can you imagine if the communication link was open when the play started? • RNOraiderFan

John Fox has had some horrible talent and still had his team playing hard all the time. I think this team would be a contender with Foxy running the ship.

This team will not take it to the next level with Cable as Head Coach. Sorry to say that….but it is what it is.

Old looney man Al needs to hire Gruden or Harbaugh as the next head coach and let them have control over the roster and personnel.

    Plain and simple.

  • http://www.car.org KoolKell

Well, what do the self-righteous Al Davis fans have to say for themselves, today?

  • SC

Fustrating to see this premadonna play calling…inside the 10.

Gruden didnt give a crap…he basically would challenge them and say…go ahead and try to stop us….its going to zack up the middle until we get it im

So what for playing smash mouth football Cable and Hue…that was disgusting!!!!

Seabass blew it! No come on the greater evil was Seabass he blew the game. You can’t be 90% and miss three field goals. One a no brainner. He blew it!!!!

Now I don’ tthink he will let us down again. If so, he is paying a gambling debt in the streets.

  • Hobs Gnarly

i would take gruden in a heartbeat and the reception he received at ricky’s last year from raider personel no less tells me they would too…..except for one and i guess that’s the only one who counts in raiderville
