Henderson has stress fracture
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 at 3:15 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Defensive tackle John Henderson has a stress fracture and will be out an undetermined period of time.
Coach Tom Cable gave a three- to six-week time from for Henderson’s absence, although he noted that the healing period could be prolonged because of Henderson’s size.
In other news, linebacker Rolando McClain was absent because of an illness in the family and is expected to be back at practice Thursday.
More to come . . .

the one guy that was truely making a difference on the run defense…he’s out for the season.
October 6th, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Gruden didn’t have free rein in Oakland. He has publicly admitted that he had to manipulate Al Davis into doing certain things….Gruden simply handled Al better than most coaches. And Bruce Allen was around as a buffer zone between the HC and the owner.
Trading Gruden cost us at least 1 SB…maybe more.
But again, Al would rather lose doing it his way than see anyone else get the majority of the credit for winning in Oakland. Al thought we were looking pretty good going into this season, that is why he came out and took all the credit for the roster…you guys were giving too much credit to that chump Cable for the draft….that backfired didn’t it Al?

Should have drafted a young NT a year or two ago…not that Al would let a NT get in the way of having two pass rushing DTs taking down that QB….hard….lmao…not that that has worked for Al in quite some time.
Hey Al, the last time we stopped the run, we had Parrella and Adams…both run stuffing DTs…and wouldn’t you know it…out LBs got 15.5 sacks that year….
October 6th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
So, Henderson will play the Chaz role this year. “Once we get Chaz back the O will be unstoppable!”…”Once we get henderson back it’ll be 70 rush yds per game”…wake up! The Titans gained 200+ yards with Henderson. the Roster suxxs!

this is why Al can’t be the GM. October 6th, 2010 at 3:36 pm
dating back to 1999, our only 1st round draft pick that has panned out is Nnamdi. How in the hell can you have a successful team when you can’t get any of your young high payed players to make a difference?
October 6th, 2010 at 3:37 pm
The o-line has some to do with Gannon’s success, but it certainly wasn’t like that o-line was the Cowboy’s o-line of the 1990s.
If you recall, Gannon spent quite a bit of time on the run…and he avoided many sacks due to the quick pass patterns in Gruden’s offense.
Give Gannon some damned credit…he was not only a leader, but he had talent too. Don’t forget that he lead KC to a great record and those idiots benched him and proceeded to lose to Dungver in the playoffs the year before he got here.
Gannon with this o-line would still be heads and shoulders above Garbagekowski.

That would be nice…a GM…who hires a HC…and then they work together to hire assistant coaches that will implement the HCs philosophies…and then they work together to draft players that fit into those philosophies…and then they are given time to make it all work.

Question? What do these names have in common? Namdi, Seabass, Woodson, Allen, Mosebar, *Wisniewski, Tim Brown? Answer. The only number one draft picks that have worked out since 1980. Technically Wis was a second round pick since Raiders didnt have a number one during that draft year. Something else in common? During the heyday of the early to mid 80’s Ron Wolf handled the majority of the scouting and the draft prior to free agency. In the late 90’s early 2000’s? Bruce Allen was aboard with Jon Gruden handling the personnel choices as well as free agency. Uncle Al. Give it up. If your idol offensive gurul Sid Gilman (an icon in his time) were still alive, he would tell you to wake up and get with the times, turn the football operation over to a young dynamic football guy. An no, your last will and testament stating that the Raiders will continue to run a 4-3 with a deep free safety and no blitzing is unenforceable. Raider fans, thats it in a nutshell. Period. End of story.

Alz has always been able to spot these guys like Shanahan,Gruden,Kiffin he also wanted to hire Sean Payton, maybe Hue Jackson is that, or he may go after Harbaugh from Stanford. Bottom line is no matter how much success they may have, Alz just may always try to do it his way. He may not want anyone else to get the kudos for turning us around.
