Cable on QB: We have no idea

Raiders coach Tom Cable, speaking by conference call to the Denver media Wednesday morning, said, “We have no idea at this point” who will start at quarterback against the Broncos.

“It’s difficult in that you’d like to be settled and know where you’re headed, but we’ve got some issues,” Cable said. “So, I don’t really know when we’ll have something definitive, hopefully tomorrow, but today we’ll learn a lot, so we’ll see.”

The Raiders will have no coordinators available today, nor will they send a quarterback to the podium to speak with the media.

The Raiders open locker room session begins at approximately 10:45 a.m.

More to come . . .

    Im voting Gruden/Vick ‘11

    —————————————–

That is commonly referred to as “a wet dream”

I would place that vote too bro….

Ya but we could of had Vick.

  • DeuceDeuce

Kelly needs to be moved to his original tackle spot.

Wimbley needs to not be a OLB in a 4-3 ever.

And we need(ed) to draft OL & DL all rounds.

    Gruden/Vick ‘11

Players that have to go next year:

    Jason Campbell
    Chaz Schillens
    Cooper Carlisle
    Mario Henderson
    Michael Huff

    ——————–

Who the fck is Chaz Schillens? Is he on the practice squad? I don’t recall of seeing him play.

“JaJason” is brilliant; kudos to the creative mind who came up with it.

Chaz “IR” Schillens has held up our plans offensively for 2 years now. I understand hes our best WR. But he cant get on the field.

And Henderson can stay as long as hes a backup. Veldheer should be our RT. We need a NFL caliber LT period.

That’s why those of you who said you want Singletary here crack me up. Singletary would read that little agreement that Al makes coaches sign, about the “Raider Way”, etc., actual legal language that binds coaches to Al’s philosophy, politely set it back on the table, stand up, kick his chair over, pull his pants down, and say, “This is what I think of you guys”, and then leave.

chaz schitllens is the guy whos gonna start practicing week 10, catch a ball week 11, and catch about 30 balls for 345 yards and 3 t.ds, saving his asss again for the third straight year and securing a roster spot long enough to get hurt for 8 weeks next season, start practicing week 10, catch a ball week 11, and catch about 30 balls for 345 yards and 3 t.ds, saving his asss again and you get the picture.

Danny was on our roster briefly as a QB in 2009, and continued as an “intern”. He played at my alma mater Occidental and is a Mormon.

    I aint holding my breath.

Louis Murphy and Nick Miller are the only WRs i have any faith in right now. And Nick doesnt see any burn.

JLH is useless in this offense. Ford is too raw. DHB cant catch. At least at this point in his career and i dont see it changing much.

Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) did not participate in Raiders practice Wednesday.

Jason Campbell (knee) and Kyle Boller (ineffective) rotated snaps with the first-team offense. Gradkowski’s inability to participate signals that he is the least likely Raiders quarterback to play in Week 7. Campbell will have to stay healthy throughout the week, but appears to be the early favorite.

  • DeuceDeuce

Boller better start if Bruce cant play effectively.

  • HairyBush

Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Michael Bush alternated with the Raiders’ first-team offense in practice Wednesday.

The workout, however, was “not even half-speed,” so McFadden didn’t really test the hamstring by opening up and running. We’ll know more about his status on Thursday, but it’s a safe bet that he’ll be a game-time decision again. The Broncos can’t stop the run, so Bush will be a must-start RB2 if McFadden is out or “limited,” despite struggling against the 49ers in Week 6.

to consistently have blown coverages against an 0-5 team (and to lose to an 0-5 team) shows poor coaching/defensive schemes. and to not complete a pass in the 2nd and 3rd quarters shows the offense is equally screwed up. you can put $3,000 tires on a $800 vw bug, but at the end of the day all you have is an $800 bug.
they can get new players all year long but
there needs to be new coaching from top to bottom. nice as cable is, i do not see him leading the raiders to the super bowl. ever. and if they are not in it for the super bowl each year, then why are they in it?
favre was a bencher/nobody until he met that holmgren.. the raiders for too long have cobbled together leftovers for their coaching staff. and it shows.

thats the problem with this team, everything is half speed or slower from the start of camp to the season. thats why this team cant tackle, catch, run, block, or get in sync because there always walking through everything. dumbass coach. id be full speed till they learn, i know, i know, they get paid too much to risk it, but half our fn team is on the sideline with injuries anyway.

The confidence the coaching staff have in Boller seems awfully low, if Jajason, slightly injured gets the start after last weeks debacle of a performance.

  • RAIDERMAN99

Just a shame that Schillens can’t get healthy.

Those of us who do remember seeing him play breifly during pre-season and the start of last year would have to say he was our best rcvr.

He would run routes well enough and got enough separation that even JaMoron knew to throw him the ball. And as off target as JaMoron’s throws often were, Schillens would adjust and showed very good hands in securing the catch. Supposedly, he has or had tremendous speed and might be able to stretch the field in addition to being a very good posession rcvr.

There’s little doubt if he can get on and stay on the field that he’s a player.

I don’t think it’s his knee that’s kept him off the field all this time this season. I think it’s still his foot. The type of foot injury he had lingers for a long, long time. In many cases it’s career ending.

Can he ever get back on the field and stay there ? I don’t know. At this point it doesn’t seem likely. He’s been injury prone since his college days.

But I will say this, he’s one guy that I wouldn’t want to release and see him finally get healthy and make it somewhere else.

Somebody put a hit on Jason Campbell please, I cannot take another week of his blank stares. If he starts I’m not watching I’ll get it off the highlights.

Kyle Boller IMO just seems to be all we have in terms of a legit starter on this team as I see it. And that is purely a hope and a prayer. I know Grads can win games and play well in spurts but that aint good enough for me can one of these guy’s please stand up and give us some real hope.

My interest in Colt Brennan is purely based on his predraft projection I thpought he was a solid prospect midrounder. All based on his pure passing arm I thought he was as pure a passer as Sam Bradford but he played in a spread offense against weak opposition. However he throws a beautiful ball and has great touch. I think if he had a chance to sit in the same system for 2 years he could be as good as Tony Romo maybe not as strong an arm. I just like him.

The Rams really lucked out with Bradford man I think he’s the best QB that’s come out in maybe 5 years or more. That kid has true greatness better than Aikman as good as any I can think of they just were in the right spot at the right time and that kid was standing there. Pure luck!
