Final: Raiders 59, Broncos 14
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 24th, 2010 at 4:23 pm in Oakland Raiders.
News, notes and observations from the Raiders’ destruction of the Denver Broncos Sunday in Denver:
– The Raiders broke 500 yards of offense to go with more than 300 yards rushing late in the fourth quarter.
– A final indignity for Denver _ the Broncos get to the 1-yard line and can’t score.
Ricky Brown and Rolando McClain break up pass plays as Broncos gave up all pretense of a running game weeks ago.
– All the fans who wanted Kyle Boller over Jason Campbell got their wish.
With a 45-point lead in the fourth quarter, the guess here is Boller will hold the lead.
Your Campbell quarterback rating scorecard: 117.6-10.7-127.9
Chart a graph with that one.
– The vaunted Denver passing game showed up when Kyle Orton hit Brandon Lloyd for a 46-yard gain _ while trailing 59-14.
That was Lloyd’s first catch of the game.
Much more to come later in the postgame wrap . . .

Wow – where did that come from? Let’s go Raiders! Now string two in a row!
You know what I liked best about this game? The coaches kept up the pressure on the Donkeys and continued to destroy them in the 2nd half. That’s the kind of mentality we need!

We can’t get over confident. We need to still play hard, and not get vanilla. good win for Campbell and the team. Keep it up JC, that’s what we wanted to see from you all along.
SD lost, we are in 2nd. Oline will need some help though. If Satele is out we might see some Bruce Campbell and Loper, hopefully they are ready.

Nobdy’s routing against Campbell. He succeeds we win. End of story. Your take is weak priest. Sure we’d rather have Grads but only a troll piece of cr@p would root against the team’s qb, no matter who it is. In psychology they call that projection, priest.
Davis haters, don’t be unhappy when Raiders win because you’re wrong. Whether the Raiders won because of him or in spite of him IT’S STILL A WIN!
Be happy people.
I freaking hate the Broncos. Knowing the donkey fans are not just crying but shell-shocked and taumatized on the ride home makes me very happy.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
We don’t turn the corner until we get to .500, then we gotta pass .500. That is when we turn the corner. This next game is the biggest game because it seems like we are so afraid of being .500.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Solid, solid effort!
Really like the way Veldheer played except the false starts. His run blocking alone is so much better than Henderson’s.
Boy did we miss DMac!
Way to make DHB earn some playing time! Unless of course they come with the sprained foot thing, lol.
Nice game from Camplunkett. 2 outta the last 3 games have been what most of us HOPED for.
Nice play calling from Jackson.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:35 pm
I’ve been laying coin on the Seahawks this season so I’ve seen most of their games…
I think our D-line can dominate their O-line and on D they attack a lot so they leave opportunity for big plays.
Should be a good one!

Those are the kind of games you dream about and only experience once in a while. Regardless of our current situation I absolutely bow down to this performance- an all time performance coming from the unlikliest RAIDER team in history. Great job today RAIDERS!!!!!!!
You were magnificent out there today!!!!!!!
October 24th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
Ford is a decent prospect.
His 4.3 speed needs to be on the field to stretch the defense. Since he can actually catch the ball to boot, he’s an upgrade from DHB in that role.
Agree that we need to see more Nick the quick.
Also more JLH.
Basically anyone other than DHB for now.

Great job Hue Jackson and Marshall….play to win!
October 24th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
The injury to Satale concerns me.The line looked pretty good at the start of the game.It looks like we have our LT(Veldheer) if everyone is healthy.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
Nick Miller has the bets hands and the best body control of any WR on this team. I saw that last year and you saw again today. He just understands how to play the flight of the ball. The kid is dangerous.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Man what’s up with MeAngelo gettin 4 picks today?
October 24th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
Priest,I totally agree. You have to wonder why the kid doesn’t get to see the field more often.
October 24th, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Hue Jackson has been awrsome this season, except for last week. He’s the MVP so far.

October 24th, 2010 at 5:00 pm
lefty12 I’m telling you Veldheer is a natural LT I’m just glad the abandoned that C experiment in time. It was a waste the kid can be a very good LT. Satele had a concussion so he may be out 2 weeks. But I really see this OLine stacking up to be pretty good by years end. By Then Bruce Cam,pbell most certainly should be ready to contribute.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:01 pm
The game balls this week go first of all to the COACHES.
Hue Jackson and John Marshall dominated this game. No DHB, constant pressure on Orton.
They said Al Davis be damned and they went out and dialed up the proper plays and schemes to DOMINATE the opposition.
Next let’s big up the Raiders secondary. They set the tone for this one and blew this thing open from the beginning.
Finally, Darren Mcfadden. I can’t say enough about him this season. He makes our offense explosive every time he steps on the field.
These three factors were the biggest in my opinion today.
But we played excellent in every phase over all today.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
Nick “THE QUICK” Miller!
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSS
October 24th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Al davis be damned my ass they did exactly what he’s been waiting for them to do win some games.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:04 pm
The offensive and defensive lines also played well today. There is room for improvement especially with the silly false starts, but we are starting to see Veldheer come into his own. His run blocking was incredible today.
Seymour was a beast today. One of the best in the league. He still needs an NT next to him though. Henderson get well soon please!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:06 pm
Priest, that’s what scares me.If Satale is out,Veldheer moves to C and I believe he should be plugged in at LT and left there. He had a dynamite game at LT today except for a couple false starts. But I noticed more than once he pancaked the guys he was blocking.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
Finally, after almost being ran out of Oakland last week, and rightfully so, you have to give a man credit, when he is due it.
I tip my hat to Jason Campbell this week. 10.7 rating last week and 127.8 this week? I mean was he high last Sunday???
Campbell played one of the best games of his career today. He was accurate, he used his legs when appropriate to keep drives going, he had pocket awareness, and he read the defense well.
Excellent game today Jason Campbell! Keep it up!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:08 pm
Blocking.
Blocking.
Blocking.
Great schemes, everybody was on their assignment and finished off blocks, including Miller, Reece, WRs, and Mike Bush.
Blocking was huge.
Finally the coaches looked like they planned for the opponent they were facing. Minimized our weaknesses. Enhanced our strengths. Did the opposite the Broncos.
Exposed their weaknesses and mimized their big plays.
Now let’s keep it up. Celebrate, get it out of your system and beat the Seahawks!
P.S. how about Marcel Reece???
October 24th, 2010 at 5:11 pm
Liked what I saw out of our somewhat maligned youngsters.
Mitchell, Veldheer, Reece, McFadden, Nick Miller all had big games.
Big games by the maligned vets too.
Campbell, Chris Johnson, Langston Walker.
Tip of the hat, gentleman.
Wow.
FIFTY NINE points????
Wow!

If we win the next two it’s time to start speaking what has been unspeakable around here for 7 years….
PLAYOFFS BABY!!!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
Two most telling segments of the game for me:
1. After Denver scores a TD to close the 1st half and one to open the 2nd, Tom snd co. kept their foot on the gas.
2. That goal line stand.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
the NATION must unite!!! this team is so damn close…we could easliy be 5-2 right now but we arent. the division will be won by an 8-8 team possibly but must play well in the division(ex.raiders 2-0 div.)The Chargless are NO MORE! i will forever refer to SD as that. they will be an 8 loss team the next time we see them. MARK MY WORDS… Our Raiders are a few plays from being something special even without a true #1 QB. DMC is a gear faster then the rest. Today was our first day having a healthy BUSH(lol) and DMC, the sky is the limit as long as we keep a healthy line. Dont hate guys but Chaz is soon to return too…
October 24th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
Glad we won this, nice to be on the side blowing out the other team for the first time in what seems like forever. I wouldn’t overlook the seahawks though, the NFC West is them or the Rams and they have been pretty good. Russell Okung also shut out Peppers last week.
I also owe Campbell an apology, he played pretty well this week. Some passes were high or late, but he played a million times better than last week and I’ll be ok with him if Gradkowski is still out.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:13 pm
Reece is becoming a big part of the offense. It seems JC has faith in him and looks for him when he needs something to happen. He is a good receiver plus he seems to be able to get those short yardage pick-ups.

Just got off the phone with Al. He is one happy dude. Totally beside himself. He was in such a good mood at one point made the comment like [tell those __'s ] that I know what the hell I’m doing.
Said when McFadden is healthy your gonna see a 1 – 2 punch you haven’t seen the likes of since that [ex-Raider Marcus Allen ] and the great Bo Jackson.
I told him I thought DM looked pretty healthy at 165/3 and he laughed and said ‘well wait til he’s healthy’.
Said that ass reaming he put on the entire organization last week showed today. He’s considering doing it again. Said the grounds crew took it personal, but not his problem.
I told him I thought Cable and Co. did a heck of job having the team come out of the gate like it, and was reminded it was the ass reaming he put on them after the SF loss.
But I said great win none the less. Wished him a good evening and he said “did Brooklyn make it to the Series this year?” I said no, but they were close.

Al Davis still has an eye for talent, there is no question about that whatsoever!
What disturbs me is when the coaches say that they hold back from doing certain things on the field that they know will be successful against an opponent because of Al Davis “Philosophies, Theories, or Systems.”
That’s what pisses alot of us off as fans.
Davis assembles the team on the field and on the sidelines, but then he should step aside and let the freakin coaches do their jobs.
The coaches should never report to the media that they don’t implement THEIR schemes freely because of ORGANIZATIONAL preferences!

McClain had his best game as a Raider. About time.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:22 pm
i think mcclains best game was against the cards. Made like 3 tackles for loss and shedded blocks well. Nice deflections and split sack though

Never seen a Denver team run the ball so poorly. That, and getting behind early, made them one-dimensional. Seahawks will be more balanced.

October 24th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
great game raiders, the def and off game plan was more aggresive and less-raider-like. On offense they were very creative and used there speed and defense, they brought pressure only when the needed too, but kept the bronco’s line honesty
DHB not playing, let N.Miller shine and other wrs. But i still have faith in DHB, jus give him time.
Dont forget the Unsung heros like Seymore that handled the line and NNamdi wasent throwin to once. There expensive, but very vital to the defense.
oh and DMAc, im glad to see him playing so well, esp after all the haters were sayin Bust… the same haters that are hating on DHB
October 24th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
You said dmac cant be an everydown back, put him in the slot. He spanked you imposter raider fans like a bratty child. Take a time out, think of a way to wiggle out of this.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:24 pm
McClain was a beast today. Him and Seymour set the tone on our D-line today.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Did anyone hear Deangelo just call Cutler “prime”?
October 24th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
The Raiders need to continue with JLH, Ford and Miller in different formations.
DHB just needs to sit and watch….
DMAC was a beast. The light is shining on the Dakotas
Michael Bush filled in well with timely runs to. Nice 1-2
Campbell looked good and the O-Line blocked very well.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
I actually started getting worried when the Donks opened up the second half with a TD. But we outscored them 21-7 in the 3rd quarter. I think that stretch of the game did as much for their overall psyche as the final score.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:26 pm
When you stop the run…you win games.
Stop the run, force the pass…shut them down.
Simple formula executed well tonight

That was a shout out to D Sanders mayne.

Dmac was a beast today. Mike Mitchell is a play maker.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:28 pm
What natural pressure, with occasional timed blitzes?!? MM 34 can play, you said he couldnt. Press man coverage shut down one of the top passing attacks in the nfl! Well i guess the raider way aint so bad after all!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
SnB,
Uhhh …
an INT and a forced fumble putting us up 21pts is how you win games, lol!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Not trying to ride Routt, but he is definitely not as bad as everyone says and is a lot better than I thought he was when he got his huge tender. He was thrown to quite a few times and I don’t think he gave up a completion. He also pretty much had an int.

Hate to change the subject, but Oregon not being #1 in the BCS is BS!!!!!!!!

“If Raiders don’t beat Seattle next week, this is no more than a fascinating, entertaining, incredible fluke.”
~Jerry McDonald~
—————————————
Pardon me Jerry but blow that comment out your ass. You never have anything good to say. Do they need to win next week. Hell yes they do, but don’t take away from what they did today. They went on the road into Denver and put up 59 points against at division rival and smoked them. 59 points is no fluke. It proves this team can play this caliber football and be a contender. They are now 2-0 in the division and they are more than capable of winning their next two games. If the Raiders that we saw tonight come out and play against Seattle and KC we can go into the bye week at 5-4. IT IS POSSIBLE. Just one game at a time.

Tom Cable and Hue Jackson had a career day.

ROFL.. Mike Mitchell??? CAREER day?
Somebody conveniently ignores the horribly EFFICIENT game Campbell has played…
here are a few things of note..
Bruce Gradkowski never had over a 121 passer rating….
Bruce Gradkowski never came close to leading a team to 59 points in a game…
Bruce and Jason both have 2 wins under their belt this season…
Continue about something you were saying like.. “scoring points” and how Bruce is the best option for this team..
If my memory serves correct… Jason Campbell just led the Raiders to their highest point total in a regular season game…… EVER…
cmon AIG… let’s talk now…

Al Davis football doesnt work in the modern nfl. What a joke. When you get old man Als nutz off you forehead, then you might be able to see the truth. Al knows better than you do!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:37 pm
Let’s not get carried away with Campbell. He merely looked competent today – just what you would expect from a quarterback. Took two sacks he shouldn’t have taken and could easily have had two interceptions. Suddenly the QB rating doesn’t look so good.

I’m with you, Tea. I’ve wanted to believe in that cat, too. I admittedly just about gave up on him after last week, but I’m definitely back on the JC train now. I go with him next week, regardless of Grad’s status.
October 24th, 2010 at 5:40 pm
New post gentlemen!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
Maybe CJ really was hurt to start the season. He looked sharp today.
Campbell threw the seep ball as well as anyone today. That quick toss to Ford on the blitz at their 10 was a great heads up play. He played a near pewrfect game.
Entire D looked very good.
O-line played great except for the presnap penalties. Campbell didn’t get to much pressure on him and the runblocking was as drawn up I’m sure.
Playcalling was so good, it was like they knew what dungver was gonna do, play after play…
ST’s tackled well, forced a fumble, N Miller earned a spot as a starter as a a return man at least.
GREAT FRIGGIN GAME!!!!!!!
October 24th, 2010 at 5:43 pm
Teabag,
You’re a effin moron.
Let’s go point for point you moron.
1. JC 12/20 204 yds 2 TD’s. I hardly call that a career day.
2. DMAC 165 yds rushing 3 td’s, 31 yds receiving 1 TD. I would call that a CAREER DAY.
3. MM34 had a career day in his short career so far. You can disagree all you want but that’s my opinion. Point out a game where he played more and made more plays. I dare you.
4. Bruce’s best day came when our best rusher was 63 yds and the entire team didnt even have a rushing TD. He scored all 3 of the team’s TD’s in the 4th qtr and it was all come from behind. BTW, the team avg 3.9 yds per rush. His stats were 20/38 308 yds, 3 tds, 121 rating.
5. Yes with JC as the QB today we had a record game as a RAider but to give all the credit to JC is plain dumb. The team avg 6.3 yds per rush.
So did JC put the offense on his back and carried the day today? Please back up your comments with some facts. But as a teabagger I doubt you have any facts to back up any of your arguments.

*****************************
They should be, that dude is a hack.
6-0 to start off when people didn’t know what to expect, 4-17 since with his last game being the team that gave up the most points ever to another team, at home no less.
And orchestrating a trade up for Tebow, who he isn’t even confidant enough to put it in a 40 point game in the 4th quarter?
Norv Turner, Hack McDaniels, and Haley who we saw butcher last years game against us.
Hell Cable may be the best coach in the division, lol!!!
October 25th, 2010 at 2:13 am
Don’t think that the QB controversy is over. JC is going to go up against a mean defense next week. JC made some awesome plays but the ball kept bouncing our way. The 14 point lead tilted the field 45 degrees (downhill for us) so the pressure was way down for JC. I hope he can play as well, under pressure. I hope the h coach makes the move if necessary next week, instead of “never thinking about it” like he admitted against the 49ers.
Today was an awesome day for me but if we must continue with “she loves me, she loves me not,” I would rather that she love me not against Seattle than to K.C.
I will be there!! Hope you are too!!!
Go Raiders!!!!!

You ever notice that L Murphy always seems to get hurt when he does not make a play; or when he royally screws up and turns the ball over? The play that he got injured on was a play that he was not going to make. He must have been the intended receiver but looked like JC threw it way over his head b/c Reese had to jump up to make the catch. LM caught a knee but Reese was up in the air so I do not think he hit LM hard enough to take him out. But I am glad b/c LM out resulted in Nick Miller in. We got to see the birth of a real possession receiver. Thanks Louis!

Sweet win, savor it.Next week will not be so easy.I’ll bet Pete Carrol is watching that film right now, and is taking this very seriously.I would be interested in a breakdown of the matchups in next week’s all important game.We need to get a string of wins, and it looks good!Injury report? How’s Langston?Buck up, be strong Raiders.
