Cable quick hits

Share

A few items from coach Tom Cable’s press briefing Monday:

— Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is undergoing tests to determine the severity of his sprained right ankle. Cable reiterated there was no fracture. He said it’s yet to be determined with hit’s a “rollover” ankle sprain or a high sprain, the latter of which usually takes longer to heal.

He said it is too early to rule Asomugha out for the Chiefs game and more would be known in 48 hours.

— Tight end Zach Miller’s foot problem is no different than it was last week. Miller is on crutches as a precautionary measure.

— Center Samson Satele has a sore knee and Darrius Heward-Bey a shoulder problem, although neither injury is considered serious.

— Surprisingly, Cable did not immediately reject the notion of bringing in wide receiver Randy Moss, waived by Minnesota Monday. He said he had just learned about the release, that a lot of things would have to happen with regard to waivers, and that it’s always worth considering a move that could make the team better.

— Cable, without addressing the blackout issue, said he hoped fans would come out and support the Raiders against the Chiefs, giving them the kind of advantage the Chiefs enjoy at Arrowhead Stadium.

More to come later . . .

Thec, you have to be able to dish out a jab while giving a player like Reece props. Especially at tj’s expense!
    😀

  • Laying this down now, get real, this team will NOT bring “Moss the Cancer” back to this team ever. This self serving punk was found out years ago, we were lucky to jetson him. Moss needs to know he does not lead the pack, 65th in receptions in the league, and is so self supportingly over-rated as a washed up WR as plea his case. If you had grown up, mister EGO man, you could of left a legacy to lead the league. You do it Randys way, unfortunatly, that has never been TEAM play. There are no tears for you in Oakland, loser!

  • 89052RAIDER

DHB has the 10th best set of hands on the team. 19 receptions in 8 games is tearing it up. Mistic has him at the pro bowl already. DHb had his best game and has outkicked his marginal talent. Should never have been a first round pick. 5th round talent…maybe…He is going to make a play here and there because Al makes cable play him every possible second, except for when he got the yeast infection at Denver…

  • SharkCatcher

how long is the Darren Mcfadden hater list now?

Cable is still not the answer, but no one is until Al takes his act to the next level.

  • djohnnyg

I like McClain’s progress thus far but this guy acts like he’s a veteran with multiple pro bowls.

He played at Alabama…whoopdee freaking doo. So far his play here has been ok but nothing special.

I don’t care so much what the guy has to say, just the fact he’s acting like he’s too damn special to do the things that everybody else does in talking with the media. He’s a darn rookie who has played “ok” thus far.

They aren’t preparing his bust for Canton as yet. Quit acting like you’re so damn special.

  • Thec07

Vote no on moss, F him and his horse….

EM, bring your kids with you and drop them off at KKKell’s house. All he does is sit in his house anyway. Your kids might be able to educate him at the same time!

but how do I have him at pro bowl level?

He is a guy that is improving and the most dangerous receiver on our team. Maybe in another year or two we will be saying DHB and pro bowl. as of now he still just a kid trying to learn how to play in the nfl.

You are right its a huge gm and it should sell out. But dont call out our brethren. I live 1,00o miles away and I see the Raiders play a minimum of 2x a year. whether they are good or crap (the past 6years.)
So while guys like us cant buy season tix we can still do our part.

  • Oakland_raiders

Early in the game the Raiders punted the ball. The returner put his hand up, it looked like he was calling a fair catch, only to return the ball another 15 yards.

Cable came out complaining anyone know the refs explanation?

  • VanHeathen

Moss won’t be back in Oakland, thank goodness…
he already QUIT on this team once!
Besides, waivers are awarded by record, on a worst to first basis, we would be beat out by a lower placed team that put in a waiver, like say SD or SF, so it’s prolly best he stays in Minny and gets a better attitude…
    Just Win Baby!

This is the same clown that said he wished all the “fake” fans that are not from Oakland would go away. Now, can you get any more stupid than that? If only the Oakland fans showed up, there’s be 55,000 empty seats. LOL.

Im the idiot that told you campbell would out play your boy grads. You are upset because you now realize that grads doesnt have the goods to compete with the person I have touted. you are a fraud that knows nothing about football, and you were wrong about jc. All of your crap about how we should trade/ cut him now exposes you for the clown that you are.

You are also upset becuase every time you have come at me with your sorry name calling tirades, you have been shut down. You also have tried on several occasions to change what I have said to fit your weak arguments, but I wont let you get away with that either. That is why i constantly have to remind you to read the post, im giving you the benefit of the doubt, you cant be as stupid as you make yourself sound.

Case and point, according your post it makes it appear that I am saying all fans not from oakland are fake. i have never said that. The raiders are global. I would like all fake fans to disappear no matter where they are from, including you.

I have hammered you routinely on this blog and now you are looking for teammates and cosigners. I guess there is strength in numbers. Every case i make can stand on its own. that is the difference between you and i, i dont need back up whuppin your a$$ in here.

The official(muscle man) explained the returner was shielding his eyes from the sun, not making the fair catch signal. The Raiders treated it like a fair catch wave.

Moss hates being a “slave” to the system,
Now he is on his hands and knees begging for Bill to let him back in the house.

  • Debo, Campbell has learned a lot in the last 3 games or so. He is scrambling and looking for lost opportunities, and covering the ball well. This is good for our team. Look at our turnover ratio, he is getting the job done. The team is behind him, we are scoring more points in two games than we did in 6 a year ago. It ain’t Grads vs Campbell, it’s RAIDER FOOTBALL, and WINNING games that is happening, by all 53 players on this team. There should be no bebate about this, IMHO!

Man, after the SF game I said JC looked slow out there. Slow to read defenses, long slow delivery. Played hesitant. Cable and Hue called him on it too, and it’s been night and day since. They told him to quit trying to be so perfect and hesitant and just let er rip. He’s played really well these last two weeks.

And you know he earned some respect in the locker room with the way he threw that block on Malloy. Contrast that with the way he slid instead diving head first for the 1st down earlier in the season.

The guy is really playing well. I don’t see how Cable can pull a hot hand if he keeps playing like this. Grads might just have to wait. No way I thought I’d say that a couple of weeks ago.

Exactly the way I’m feelin, but we must remember Bruce didn’t need the coaxing and when the going gets rough who would you rather have at the healm, the safer qb with the bigger arm or the fearless leader?

The guy goes over 100 yards with a td last game looking light years ahead of last year so why you hating? Sounds to me like someone hating on Mcfadden in his second year and look how that turned out…..

  • Inone, it a good feeling to know Grads can come off the bench, and I’m happy with Boller also, need to get him some reps though…….

  • Nick Miller looked a lot like DHB when he let that pass hit him in the face yesterday.

  • Oak, watch it at, ATDHE>NET, never missed a game!

  • zopi

Honestly, I didn’t believe that either Cable or Campbell could do much for the Raiders. I couldn’t believe that Al and Cable would let HuJac loose, and let him call a game without the restraints of the Raider playbook. I had them 3-6 going into the bye after beating the chefs, which I thought the Raider could and now should.
Now, please don’t start with the we’re back chant, just yet. I say if they can go 8-8, and be in contention, then by all means, I’m sure the old bandwagon is big enough.
McClain, like I did, takes a look around at a half-filled stadium and wonders what else do we have to do to get fans back. I’m sure Tuscalooser doesn’t have very much to do other than attend 6 Bama games a year and win or lose the stadium will be filled. But, in Oaktown after the seven-year disaster, and starting this season in the hole, again, there wasn’t much to do at the Colosseum. Win against the chefs, 3-0 in the division, going into the bye feeling confident, possibly finish at 9-7, you know it won’t just be the black hole rocking with McClain.

  • Lefty’s shouldn’t post, ATDHE.NET, sorry!

I agree for the most part. I used to think Grads was the better option, or at worst they were interchangeable. But after watching the Hou, SD, Den and Seattle games, it’s clear that JC is head and shoulders above Bruise. There shouldn’t even be a word said about making a change now.

  • zopi

After watching Campbell coming back and lay out that block on that end around play, he wins the job hands down.
What has his his qb rating been after doing a 10.7?
If the defense keeps playing in that aggressive but disciplined style, and Campbell plays within his means, the Raiders will contend.
Now, with Randy Moss in the picture the Raider running attack will blossom to stardom. No matter what, he’ll be doubled every play, opening it up inside.
I recommend claiming him and put him inside Al’s chamber, have Al slap him upside his head a couple of times, until he understands how to behave in the new Raider way.

  • DKnight007

This doesn’t need a cancer like Moss to ruin the mojo along with the coach and team chemistry occuring now.

  • RaiderReggie

I am a big Bruce Gradkowski supporter but Tom Cable need to ride with Jason Campbell until he start going back into that shell. I work in Washington DC and watched Jason go through a different offensive coordinator every year he was with the Redskins. Under the circumstances he did a good job. As in baseball I look at Jason Campbell as a starting pitcher and Bruce Gradkowski as a relief pitcher or closer. Cable can break tradition by playing both of them.

  • OneNation60

Randy Moss as a Raider? That’s an odd question isn’t it? Am I the only person who remembers moss standing in the end zone catching the ball & then just blatantly dropping it? Why would the Raiders want to bring in a virus like that to a thriving team that’s showing glimpses of the Raiders of old. No, never should he ever have the priviledge of donning the Silver & Black….I just wish the Raiders would have dumped Warren Sapp when he announced that he was a Buccaneer in a Raider uniform like Childress did Moss after he finished his Patriot love fest for the press conference….Way to go RAIDERS!!!! Let’s keep the plagues out of the organization.
