Asomugha, Zach Miller absent

Neither cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (ankle) nor tight end Zach Miller (arch) were on the field Wednesday as the Raiders wrapped up a walk-through portion of practice open to the media and got down to the business of preparing for the Chiefs.

Chris Johnson, cleared to play after missing the Seattle game with a concussion, was working with the first team defense along with Stanford Routt. Brandon Myers, who played last week against Seattle after missing the previous game with a concussion, was working with the first team offense.

Miller was spotted on crutches Monday but Cable termed it a precaution and said he expected him to play.

Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski took some snaps with the first team offense along with Jason Campbell, although the walk-throughs did not call for him to throw anything more than a medium-depth pass at much less than peak velocity.

More to come . . .

Are you crazy? The Raiders don’t deserve respect, neither do the fans. After seven years of losing, a team doesn’t deserve any respect.

Competition is good. This is why signing Jake (or even just bringing him in for a look-see) is a good idea and maybe puts Satele on notice.
    ——————
Why do you think Satele needs to be “put on notice”? Do you not think the benching for a rook “put him on notice”?
He has also been playing a lot better since he got his starting job back. The man has been dinged up in both of the last two games, concussion/Broncos, and knee/Seahakws. With the way JV has played LT the last two weeks the time has come to stop the JV center at experiment, and pick up a decent backup.

I don’t think it was enough. Satele has played OK the last two games and shaky prior to those.

Being that we need Veldheer at LT and everyone knows that now, Satele shouldn’t be allowed to rest on his laurels.

That being said, competition can only do so much. Raiders are still in the market for a good C, (maybe) RG, and RT and will have to wait til the offseason. They can get it done this year with this group though, as we have seen.

After how bad he looked coming out of preseason, he has been playing well enough. I would defiantly replace him if better were available, I just don’t see much available ATM.

    ………..

That’s just it. Catching the ball at this level is a talent in and of itself. You’re playing in a faster, harder hitting game than college, with smarter defensive strategies you’re playing against. Only certain players are capable of catching the ball on a consistent basis in this league. Randy Moss has proven himself to be one of them.

  • SR Raider

I wonder if that was intentional by Shanarat. “Look at what you could become – do you want to be in the same class as this guy?” Kind of like Ebenezer and the ghost of christmas past.

Moss is a quitter, and this team doesn’t need quitters. It’s as simple as that

  • ArmChair GM

Picking up Moss would have been a win win for us. Even if he refused to play, we would have been awarded a draft pick, which we could surely use for next season, considering that we don’t have a first round pick.
