Zach Miller, Asomugha listed as `doubtful’
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, November 5th, 2010 at 12:46 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Raiders coach Tom Cable said Friday tight end Zach Miller and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha were both listed as “doubtful” against Kansas City.
In the last 16 years, there may have been a player or two on the Raiders who went from “doubtful” on Friday to playing on Sunday, but I can’t remember who they are.
More to come . . .

Add a third key to victory to stopping the run and pressuring Cassel: shutting down Tamba Hali.
He’s basically their entire pass rush. He has 7 sacks. The rest of the team combined has 8.
Veldheer better be ready. If Hali is neutralized, Campbell should have all day to throw.
November 5th, 2010 at 12:51 pm
Not good.
November 5th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Their tight end, Tony Moeaki, actually leads them in catches. Bowe is their deep threat (averages 17 yards per catch). I say just have Routt run with Bowe all day and let CJ37, MM34 key on Moeaki and Jamaal Charles out of the backfield (he’s their 3rd leading receiver).
November 5th, 2010 at 12:53 pm
The Raiders just asked Deion Sanders to come out of retirement. Al’s sales pitch was he can work on his rank of #34 in the NFL’s top 100 players That he was so displeased with. AL said he can add to his legacy playing for the Raiders. The only catch is he would have to start this weekend in place of Nnamdi with no practice under his belt. Prime time said he’s in and will shut down Dwayne Bowe. I guess were all set against the Cheifs this weekend.
November 5th, 2010 at 12:55 pm
Miller has been invisible the last 2 weeks anyways, we will survive without him. I think it may even be helping JC play better, because he isnt locking on to Miller. Reece has definitely stepped it up in Millers absence. Bowe is their only receiving threat, but I am confident that Routt can cover him, if not, he always has Huffy over the top for help. We will not miss those guys this week. We need to stack the box and attack attack attack!

Can Jon Condoleeza play tight end?
November 5th, 2010 at 12:59 pm
I look at it this way: this isn’t Pittsburgh or Indianapolis or even Miami we’re playing. I’d be worried as hell if Zach and Nnamdi were out for those games.
The Chiefs are not as good as their record says. They lean entirely on their running game and run defense. Their QB is a joke and their pass defense is ranked 23rd.
Find ways to limit Charles, get DMac into space and utilize the WR tools we have and there’s no reason to lose this game, with or without Zach and Nnamdi.
Besides, this would be a HUGE confidence boost to win a critical game without two of our top 4 players. (DMac and Seymour being the others).
I said after the Broncos game that if this team starts to really believe in itself, the rest of the league should be worried. Winning the biggest game in 8 years without the best CB in the game and a top 5 tight end would increase that confidence even more.

Hey Al: trade Condo for an appointment as Secretary of State!
November 5th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
1st and foremost…. Go Raiders!
Now what is the deal with getting on the best long snapper in the league… Jon Condo!
The man is pure porn!
Every team in the league has some 30 something guy on their roster dedicated to long snapping, we have the best one, that is the picture of consistency AND he makes plays, and people are ripping on him.
Get a clue, be a fan, and recognize our talent.
Jon Condo is a big part of the reason Lechler is the best punter in the league.
Just stop being ignorant, and cheer for the best Raiders team in years.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:04 pm
If we got rid of Condo, I bet BSJ would be the first guy screaming for him after our first bad snap that gets Lechler hurt.

For the record, BSJ has not problem with Condo… just his salary.

Laughable. Remember Adam Treu? Probably not.

12. PRO BOWL long snapper mind you. Contributes tackles on special teams too. Back back up LB as well.

You do not qualify as a backup LB if you have NEVER played a smap there, preseason included.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:15 pm
smap? LMAO… I need a beer or 12 to calm my nerves…
November 5th, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I believe Condo makes more than Bruce!
November 5th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
BTW “Roch”,
I can rant about Condo being overpaid and unusable as a backup AND STILL cheer for the best Raider team in years. Which I do here every day.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
He makes 3x as much as Chazarella who has only take 11 snaps in 3 years. He has more injuries than catches!
November 5th, 2010 at 1:19 pm
Hey if they way you spoke about DMAC is any indication, Jon Condo might win defensive player of the year next year!!! LOL
November 5th, 2010 at 1:19 pm
When’s the last time you’ve seen a bad snap?
And why is it your business what Al pays his players?

Seriously though, would you risk the games best long snapper as a LB squaring up against 240 lb RBs?
I wouldn’t play him on D either…
November 5th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
If he made league minimum we wouldnt be having this convo
November 5th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
28. Al has always been a players Owner. He pays what seem like exhorbitant prices (and they friggin are for some) but the Leauge usually justifies his expenditures.
He is either setting the bar and causing trouble for other teams when they go to sign (*ahem*, San Diego, San Fransico ect ect) or simply ahead of the curve.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
For all those hating on Condo, remember how the playoff game between the giants and the niners in 2002 ended? They signed a veteran long snapper who had been sitting at home doing nothing just for that game. The giants needed about a 30 yard FG to win the game and to knock the niners out of the playoffs.
The snap was botched and the giants tried to throw it downfield to shockey, who was interfered with but not called, and the giants lost their playoff game.
My point is, a long snapper is a very important part of a team.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Nnamdi and Miller out, ouch! DMAC and our Dline need to squeak this one out for us
November 5th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
Al overpays everybody. Condo is 100% effective at what he does. If he sucked then it would be an issue.
And the roster spot? We’ll keep Nick Miller for 16 weeks and Chaz for who knows?

We can beat KC.
They have a lot of injuries as well.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I don’t like this with Miller being out. Of course I think we can still roll without him. But I also think Ds key on him which opens up other options for us.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:27 pm
I hope McCluster sits.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:28 pm

Get ready for a 3 catch 25 yard day from Kalif Barnes.

The only cat who may or may not play is McCluster with a high ankle sprain.

Marcell’s great, but Barnes is the real x factor. DBs will sh;t their pants when they see that much humanity comin at em in the red zone.

37. Word.
Losing two pro bowl caliber players, one on each side of the ball has got to hurt but I think this team has more dpeth and talent than people realize and I like that alot…

How did he hurt it? It was Denver right? Wasnt he playing tackle that game as well?
November 5th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
32. Close.
They had 2 horrible snaps that game. Either could’ve given the Giants the game.
It was a tackle eligible lineman down field. Thats one of the reasons the refs didn’t throw the flag on a blatant P.I. that would’ve given the Giants another kick…
November 5th, 2010 at 1:34 pm
39. BARNES! Touchdown Raiders!!!
I hope Brandon Mayers plays well or even has a break out game. That would really throw a scare into defenses.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
The cupboard is looking thin on the receiving end of the offense, DHB needs to keep them honest.

this could be the shortest game in terms of real time, with these two leading rushing teams in the NFL; now just watch both teams attempting to air it out.

Raiders need to get to Matt cassel when they do pass. Here’s to the 3rd matt getting sacked 8 times again.
November 5th, 2010 at 1:55 pm
I’ll give Chaz a pass (DMac was injured alot too & look what he’s doing now that he’s fully healthy). But if Chaz comes back fully healthy & then goes down again..he’s done. And Yes, Barnes at TE is frikkin hilarious !! would love to see what a DB or safety would do if they see that comin at em !! would probably look alot tlike the reciever last week trying to bring down Suh when he made fumble return for a TD. LOL, Suh just brushed him off like swatting a fly. Hope Myers has a good game & surprses the Chiefs D.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIDERRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!

# 56, wouldn’t be surprised at all if both teams come out passing, with us missing Nnamdi & the Chiefs having such a terrible pass defense. If it comes to that, I think we definitely have the advantage.
