Cable quick hits
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 at 3:34 pm in Oakland Raiders.
A few quick notes from Tom Cable’s press briefing:
– The hamstring injury to Darrius Heyward-Bey was sustained last Tuesday during a bye week practice.
–Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, tight end Zach Miller and defensive tackle John Henderson all had limited participation.
“It was a decent amount. Hopefully it will be more (Thursday),” Cable said. “We put them through some things today and we’ll see how they feel tomorrow. If they feel like they did at the end of practice we’ll try and get more and more out of them.”
– Accoding to the NFL injury report, safety Troy Polamalu did not practice because of an Achilles injury. Wide receiver Hines Ward (concussion) was listed as having particpated fully.

November 17th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Not a bad idea. It’s just so hard to take them seriously. They’re obviously just losers who are way too serious about defending their favorite NFL owner. It’s just so funny it hasn’t gotten to serious yet. But threatening to kill people isn’t cool. That’s for sure. They keep it up they’re going to wind up paying for it.
November 17th, 2010 at 3:53 pm

Best way to beat Steelers is how Patriots did, spread them out and dink them to death. Cable admits #Raiders can’t really do that
—————————-
This is what I’ve been saying this week. We dont have Rich Gannon back there chucking 60 passes. We aint no spread them offensive team. Maybe Cable and co. will get the Oline to dominate again but that will be a tough order.
November 17th, 2010 at 3:56 pm
LOL. Richochet. The funniest thing about him is that he would mock people for spending time in here, when he was here around the clock! And, yes, calling people who comment here on their cells, to boot.
November 17th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
Vittorio doesnt’ know what he’s talking about. The Patriots did not dink the Steelers to death. They ran play action all night. It’s a play fake offense. You have to have a run threat to do what the Patriots did to the Steelers. The reason Brady was able to hit his receivers on those short routes is because he had the linebackers respecting the run.

Anyone who would start that pu**y JLH over DHB is a moron.
Look at the stats, shall we?
DHB-266 yds-19 catches-14 yd avg-long of 69-1 td
JLH-66 yds-6 catches-11 yd avg-long of 29-0 td
DHB also a very good downfield blocker
JLH a scared part time return guy who has not scored a td since 2008!
Glad you guys don’t run the team. sheesh…

Let me tell you something f@ggot ill beat the livin piss out of your sorry ass!
DHB was what pick? How many times do they force feed him the ball? Notice he made zero catches in big time game vs KC? See JLH make huge 3rd down catch on game tying drive. Next time grown folks is talking shut da fawk up ya hear?

Vittorio Tafur of the SF Chronicle suggests that Chaz Schilens (foot, knee) “may not be back this season.”
Schilens is believed to have suffered another setback in his recovery from knee and foot surgeries, although coach Tom Cable wouldn’t come out and say it. “It’s not so much a setback, it’s responded really well when we’re on the field running straight ahead,” said Cable. “It’s just a matter of being able to cut and coming in and out of cuts. Still not very smooth yet.”

While the Steelers rarely practice in full pads, coach Mike Tomlin chose to have such a workout Wednesday — an apparent response to the way they played against the Patriots.
Sitting out were safety Troy Polamalu (Achilles’) and safety Will Allen (concussion). Doing limited work were linebacker Lawrence Timmons (hip), guard Chris Kemoeatu (ankle) and defensive end Brett Keisel (hamstring).

Naw It’s just funny watching everybody in here turn on each other at the drop of a dime.
We all say that we bleed Silver and Black, but then tear into each other over the most trivial things.
Two guys will start out double teaming another guy. Then next thing you know they’re attacking each other, when they were just acting like friends.
It’s like a big WWE Royal Rumble in here.

Davis shill talking point 23434-b:
When giving coaches props, be sure to give Al Davis more props. For example, if you’re going to say that Cable has done a good job, say that Al Davis has done an “OUTSTANDING” job. Also emphasize that the coaches’ work is still a work in progress. In other words, only say that they’re doing a good job “so far”. Even throw in an occasional, “they need to keep it up”, to emphasize their role on the pecking order.

The running game’s improvement to me, comes from the coaches freedon to open the playbook. Tosses, Sweeps…reverses etc.
In other words, not having to run Fargas or McFadden up the azz of the Center on 1st & 2nd downs, every damned series.

I don’t have a problem with that. I just think the recent freedom of the Play-calling has been just as instrumental.

i for one am glad they didnt mess with the q.b. situation. i was a bit worried that it would mess with what was working the last 3 games. i just hope j.c. can make plays early in the game so were not in another dog fight. by the way fire the w.r. coach and cut fucn schilens broke down asss already.

Big Pep,
I have never had faith in Campbell. Love it when he does well, but I expect him to wait too long for throws or take sacks. It seems to be his nature.
Given that, it is a trenches game against the Pitts. Perhaps things will be provided for JC to relax and play football.
